It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Have a great weekend Rachey. I’m most jealous of your pasty!
Enjoy the wedding too.

Decluttering is not going so well.
I’ve thrown stuff away and have bags of clothes and shoes for charity/recycling but the house still looks a mess. It would be easier doing it for someone else.
Just sick of constantly trying to tidy stuff away. I must get rid of much more. It’s getting me down.

The mobile home sounds great Sol. We stayed in one a few years ago and the girls loved it. Well done on the 6lb too.

Diet not going well. Had a series of small disasters this week.

Hope you’ve had a good week Pom

SolitudeSometimesIs · 30/06/2018 15:51

Have a fab time at the wedding Rachey, and enjoy the pasty.

I dont think Decluttering makes the place look cleaner when you have kids, they just end up making such mess. But it will help eventually and its a good habit to get in to.

I bought some bra strap extenders yesterday for the backs of my bras. A life saver in this heat as I am so uncomfortable, they're only 2.50 for a 4 pack so well worth it. That's my comfort in the heat tip for the day Grin

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Oh dear guys I'm well and truly fat. I've eaten everything and been drinking.

I can't wait until Wednesday until Wednesday so I can start the James Duncan I'm fed up of feeling like this

Greenrabbit · 01/07/2018 14:14

I look like a beach ball with limbs.

Racheyg · 01/07/2018 16:49

Haha just seen my post......what I meant was I will start the jd on Wednesday Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 01/07/2018 19:46

Amazing loss Sol JD really works well for you Smile
Hope you had a great time at the wedding rachey Good luck with JD as well.
I'm sure you don't look like a beach ball Green Don't be so hard on yourself Flowers Have you got the Marie Kondo book, might help with your decluttering (actually think we have had this conversation before ...).

I've been pretty good, managing to run. I've need to curb my sweet tooth as still having chocolate.... Weigh in on Tuesday.

Work has been pretty stressful, goes through phases, I don't whether to start looking around, although I can work flexibly where I am.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 02/07/2018 08:39

When are you planning on starting JD Rachey ? Wink Grin

Can you start by making small changes Green, like making breakfast protein only and then in a week introduce a soup/salad style lunch? It can be very overwhelming when you're trying to make big changes. You sound so busy at the moment too.

I was sick over the weekend, so no weigh in and having to be very gentle with my stomach. Stupid TOTM killed me, I fainted twice Blush

Well done on the running Pom, especially in this heat. I hope work gets better for you, it's so hard when it's stressful. Flexibility in a job can be a real pro when you're looking for new work, especially with kids.

Day 1 of Exante done.
Peanut butter bar
Chicken and leek soup
Coconut shake.
2 black coffees
Lots of water.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 03/07/2018 06:20

Oh well done Green, how did you find it? How long are you planning to do it for?

OP posts:
Racheyg · 03/07/2018 11:27

Well done green

sol with the jd can you mix the meals? I will struggle with eating toast and grilled toms in the morning. How are you getting on?

Well done on your run pom I miss the gym. Can wait to get back to normal

Second day in peppa pig world. Boys aren't that bothered, so milling about the Park ds1 can go on all the big rides. Ds2 can go on some as he is just 92cm

I feel massive and my clothes are tight. Roll on tomorrow x

SolitudeSometimesIs · 03/07/2018 11:40

Yeah Rachey you can mix the meals around but only with one's from that day. I used to have the toast and tomatoes til about 11am and it meant I wasn't starving all day.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 03/07/2018 12:24

The daytime wasn’t too bad Sol. I almost gave up at about 9pm. I stopped and had a think (for a change) and just had more water instead.

I’m hoping to do 3 weeks of the Total Solution plan (or as close to 100% as I can fit in).
After that I’m planning on doing low carb. I’ve got a diet plan for that and will be quite strict about dairy products.

How are you feeling now? Do you know what made you faint? Maybe you should get your iron checked?

I might not bother with Peppa Pig world Rachey. Did they enjoy yesterday?
Good luck for tomorrow.

Pomegranatepompom · 03/07/2018 12:51

Quick post from me to say well done green, enjoy peppa pig rachey and hope you are feeling better Sol.

Greenrabbit · 03/07/2018 13:04

How are you Pom?
I have got the Marie Kondo books. I tried to do it a few years ago.
At the moment I don’t think I can stand the mess of pulling everything out and going through the categories.
It was useful though. I will have another read and try to inspire myself.
I found it useful for getting rid of clothes.
I’ve been looking at a decluttering thread on housekeeping and that’s given me some ideas too.
I think I’d just got it into my head that the place had to be perfect for the DC finishing school. But that’s not achievable and they can help sort some of their own belongings while they are off.
I’m aiming for an area to be decluttered each weekday and for me to do an extra job (today it was spraying weeds). It feels more manageable that way.

I’ve been to the shops this morning for first aid kit items, milk and bread. I’ve spent £150!
That does include teacher gifts, school uniform and some things for DDs birthday.
What does your DD want Pom? Mine just wants an lol doll. I think we must own all the other toys in the world so I’m stuck for ideas.
(Well I had ideas but had to give them to other family members so we didn’t end up with more unwanted clutter!)

I’ve had 2 black coffees this morning and a Vanilla almond shake. Planning on another shake before the school run and I will take a bar with me to eat while DD is having her swimming lesson.
That gives me time to mentally prepare myself to the fact that I cannot eat anything this evening Grin

Greenrabbit · 03/07/2018 20:53

Didn’t have the second shake and came home starving. So I made a vegetable omelette. It was probably much lower carb than the shake and can’t have been more than 400cals.

Pomegranatepompom · 03/07/2018 21:08

Veg omelette good Green

I haven't thought of teacher gifts yet, I do want to get something nice for DS's, she's been fab.

I really want to get rid of the clothes I don't wear but seem to have a psychological block.
DD keeps changing her mind, at the moment she wants a fingerling and and a mermaid doll. Not sure what to ask family to get her. We are also going to build a bear [smile}

I lost 1.75 lbs from last week, but haven't had a great food day today, did go for a run, planning to fast next 2 days.

Greenrabbit · 03/07/2018 21:41

That’s good Pom. I don’t know how you can run in this heat.

I just bought Prosecco for the gifts. It’s on offer in Asda!
I do buy for the teaching assistants also so don’t want to spend a fortune. Most parents appear to just give a token wine/chocks/flowers type gift.

We have fingerlings. She’s mentioned Build a Bear. I’m trying to avoid that, she has too many soft toys. They do love going though.

I’m the same with clothes. Although I would love to wear a lot of my hoard if I ever lose any weight.
I need to throw away some dated items and things that are looking shabby. I insist on wearing them and I know I look scruffy. I think I’m punishing myself for being fat.

Racheyg · 04/07/2018 19:14

Whoop whoop well done pom you are doing so well.

What on earth are fingerlings? Is it dd1 birthdays? It's ds1 birthday next Wednesday so having a party on Sunday.

green yummy veg omelette sounds delish

sol how are you getting on?

I'm desperate to lose weight I look very rotund at the moment doesn't help I'm an apple.

Today I started jd -
Breakfast - fruit salad consisting of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and banana

Lunch - 1 slice of dry toast with grilled tomatoes

Dinner - (will be) 2 boiled eggs salad and a grapefruit

SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/07/2018 20:32

You all sound like you're all doing so well. There's an air of determination on this thread that hasn't been seen in a while. I think this is our year.

Green and Pom would you think about getting your kids experiences instead of toys for birthdays if they don't want/need toys? We booked a cheap trip away for one of DS1's birthdays and he felt so grown up going to a hotel for his birthday. It worked out as much as half the Lego he wanted as we got a deal on Groupon.

As for teacher gifts, I always go for booze. I got DS2's teachers gift voucher for afternoon tea as it was his last year being with them and they are bloody amazing.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/07/2018 20:34

I meant to say, we went to a hotel that was geared to kids, lots of cool stuff for them and DS1 was in his element.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 04/07/2018 20:47

sol my dcs love a hotel Grin

Racheyg · 04/07/2018 21:05

Day 1 of James Duncan over and done with. I'm off to bed have a splitting headache and I'm knackered Sad

SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/07/2018 08:22

Mine too Rachey, the one we went to had a ton of stuff and a brilliant pool. DS1 still talks about how he went on holiday for his birthday.

How are you feeling this morning? The first few days are tough, remember to drink loads of water. It gets easier.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 05/07/2018 11:16

It's sports day at ds1 school. I tried on 6 outfits..........all too tight. I feel so big. Sad

Did a hiit work out at home as couldn't make the gym. pom how do you find the will power to go running? I need a class to get me motivated.

sol yeah feeling better today, although I feel a little down? Not sure why I feel like this I'm not normally a low person. I forgot how much I enjoy grapefruit. How are you getting on? Are you still on jd or are you taking a break?

green how are you getting on?

Greenrabbit · 05/07/2018 11:25

Mine are obessed with hotels too!
I found some Smiggle things that I’d put away for her and I’ve bought an LOL doll. We’ll probably have a day out and I’ll put some money into her bank account.
She’s having a party with school friends too so I’m sure she’ll end up with more than enough toys!
Your DS is a week older than DD2 Rachey. We’re have the last 5 years gone?
Well done on starting the JD too. Hope you are feeling better this morning.

Gave up on Exante last night. I was feeling rubbish (which was probably Ketosis) Feeling much better this morning and I still lost 4lb in 3 days. Just going to try to be very sensible over the weekend. I might try to do 2 days fasting with Exante(to use up what I’d bought).
Really need to start exercising properly.
I don’t think there are really any quick fixes that are going to work for me. I really have tried everything and I don’t have the will power. Definitely need to make a lifestyle change.

Decluttering is going quite well. Sorted loads of DD2’s stuff out. Going to offer it to a friend and if she doesn’t want it it’s going to charity next week. Also sorted old uniform to charity and things to take to H&M for rags.
Need to look at old shoes too. Clarks wil take old shoes and sell to raise money for UNICEF (incase anyone has some outgrown ones)

That’s a nice teacher gift Sol.
