It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Thanks so much for all your thoughts. You are gems.

I'm off to zzz now - so I'll reply re grammars etc tomorrow.

Greenrabbit · 17/06/2018 22:13

Do you still have to take the 11+ to get into Grammar school? It’s not private Sol but you have to take an exam.
You get into Secondary by a list of criteria, I can’t remember the exact requirements. (I suppose it might differ by area).
It’s priority by
Looked after child
Attend a cluster primary
Sibling link
Distance from school

Secondary schools in our area are clustered with Primary schools.

It’s stupid when you write it down. I don’t like the Secondary that our primary is clustered with. We are on the border of two other cities and many children attend secondary school in those areas.

Pomegranatepompom · 17/06/2018 22:16

Just tried to send a link, Rachey let me know if you want to pm you too!

Pomegranatepompom · 17/06/2018 22:18

Yes you do have to take the 11plus. I don't want to put any stress on them so want to be in a good catchment in case it doesn't feel right for them to sit the exam. Also it may become apparent in next few years that they wouldn't suit/enjoy grammar. I want to be open minded about it all... I definitely would not push for grammar if wasn't right.

We’ve celebrated a family Birthday today and Father’s Day.
I’ve had steak, bread, salad, cake and cheese. Now I’m finishing off some wine from yesterday.

Sol your poor friend. It’s awful that her MIL was obviously focusing on her weight. I wouldn’t use the pass either. I bet she wasn’t offered any help so she could take some time out for herself.

I’m getting my head around my new diet plan for next week.

I’ve been ill from antibiotics this week and the tonsillitis came back. Feeling better today but have finished the antibiotics and my tonsils still look grim.
Plus both children have been off school with sickness so I didn’t manage extra walking.

Pomegranatepompom · 18/06/2018 06:55

You poor thing green hope you feel better soon. Your celebration food looked yum !

sol your friends MIL is just nasty. How can anyone think that's a good idea or a nice gift. The fact she was going on about it means she probably knew that too (which makes it worse) ...

Fast day today ! Have a good day everyone

Pomegranatepompom · 18/06/2018 07:00

Sol enjoy not being at work today !

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/06/2018 15:15

Green you really sound under the weather. Tonsillitis is awful. Have your kids got it too? Do they still remove tonsills these days?

The school system in England sounds complicated compared to here. It's just so stressful trying to pick a school and getting a place without all the added extra listed above.

I had a very busy day off. I'd been procrastinating all weekend, did no housework and the house was a tip this morning. I ended up scrubbing the place and throwing out old work clothes that have gone a bit shabby. I know if they go back in my wardrobe they'll be there forever.

I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm trying to get back to 30 pp today after my food fest yesterday.

Greenrabbit · 18/06/2018 21:32

I’m starting to feel better again Sol.
I think you can still get tonsils removed if you have it persistently. Luckily I don’t get it too often.
The children haven’t had it ever. DH never gets it either.

Your day sounds similar to mine. I haven’t got to the scrubbing stage yet. Good idea about the work clothes too.

I’ve been reading about calories and metabolism recently.
I decided to try to have about 1800 today. Weirdly it was difficult to eat that many.
I’ve had 1200 and feel full. Normally I’d struggle to just have that many.

I didn’t get as many steps I wanted. Going to wander round the house now to try to increase them.

Pomegranatepompom · 19/06/2018 09:24

Great work on the sorting out Sol Did you manage to stick to points? You must feel so relieved not to. have the additional pressure of work. Great for you to have some breathing space.

Glad you are feeling better Green Well done on your 1200 cals.

I weighed in and have lost 1.5 lbs ( finally!), wish I hadn't had such a carb weekend now as it might have been 2... but anyway, I feel more motivated now there has been a slight shift. Off for a run shortly after I've some general house stuff.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 19/06/2018 15:52

That's great that you had 1200 cals Green, what did you eat?

Congrats on the 1.5 lbs Pom. How did your run go?

It's really nice not to be working, I've applied to do an online course to top up my qualifications so I'm keeping up to date. I have been over on points the last few days. But I've just taken them out of my weeklies, so no big deal.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 20/06/2018 07:55

Well done on the 1.5 pom

Just catching up will be back soon xx

Racheyg · 20/06/2018 08:27

pom can you pm me the link. Have you and dh had s chance to work out your options? Do you have a time frame in which you what to move?

Well done on your run and with your loss sounds like you have broke the plateau wall. Thanks for the tip about Lego land. We're all pretty excited. The kids are grazers and way so lots of snacks are a great idea Grin

sol how's ds sleeping since you have finished work? Are you feeling less stress and sleep deprived ?

green glad your better. I've never had tonsillitis but oh suffers badly with it. Do you track your steps?

Not doing so great with any type of healthy eating I keep snacking Blush I have a really busy few weeks coming up so I'm going get them out the way then mid July I'm gonna get back on it Grin

DS's sleep is really bad Rachey, but I'm feeling much more able to cope with it. I can take a break when he's in school and grab a nap, which means I'm a happier person and a better Mum.

I keep snacking too. And then eating meals. And then having wine Blush.
Ive given myself off til tomorrow and then I need to just get my head down and behave. I've had loads of meetings this week for my son and a few medical appointments so I've been running around quite a bit and grabbing crappy snacks.

I've lost my motivation.

Pomegranatepompom · 20/06/2018 18:47

Ah I had an all day meeting - are sandwiches and biscuits low carb ? Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 20/06/2018 18:53

rachey will link when home, on the train at the mo. We are not in a massive rush but houses don't come up often.

Enjoy legoland !

I really need to be strict for rest of week, I love snacking !

sol glad things seem easier. Hard to eat healthy when you are running around and no don't by feeling but stressed.

How are you green ?

The 4 of us have been on this thread for years ! Occasionally other people join but then they disappear, maybe they want something that moves quicker Grin

Greenrabbit · 20/06/2018 19:47

Tonsillitis came back. Feeling dreadful..

I’m going to bed soon.

It’s certainly helped with calorie counting.

Racheyg · 20/06/2018 20:22

Argh boys are driving me crazy.......they won't stop talking while I'm trying to put them to bed.

Another bad day............I must have consumed over 2000 cals Blush at least I won't need the dress altered Grin

pom sandwiches and biscuits are carb feee in my book GrinGrinGrin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 21/06/2018 22:51

Oh Green, I'm sorry you're feeling awful. I hope you managed to get some rest today. Did you get more antibiotics?

Pom I'm sure the sandwiches and biscuits were care free, don't worry Wink

Rachey I had a dreadful day foodwise too. I can't reign myself in. I think I need to remember what it feels like to be hungry and that it's OK. I'll be the size of a house soon. On the plus side my friend invited us to her family's mobile home (they have two) so I'm thinking of going. I've never stayed in one, does anyone know what they're like?

Trying to get back on track today. We'll see how that goes, I have lost all motivation to stick to my 30pp plan, well I start out great in the morning and then by lunch it's fallen to pieces. What's wrong with me? It's infuriating and I hate being this big.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/06/2018 12:06

I did not stick to plan.

And there was sangria.

And so much food.

Off to another BBQ today. I expect to be planet sized by the end of this weekend.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun!

sol I have eaten so much junk that I'm going to explode

Racheyg · 24/06/2018 15:01

I really really need to get gear few busy weeks out the way so I can go back to healthy eating. I've eaten sooooo much junk this past month my clothes are getting tight.

I'm going to do exante Monday - Wednesday then I'm away till the following Tuesday.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/06/2018 17:00

Planet sized me has occurred, as expected. I have my own gravity field and large objects now orbit me. But the food was delicious Grin

Good luck with Exante Rachey. I too plan to be better next week. I'm fairly sure I said that last week but never mind.
