It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Hahaha thanks sol I made it through the day without killing anyone Grin although I'm not home yet so still plenty of time.

green 2lbs isn't bad. What meal are you having? I need inspiration.

sol we are our own worst enemies. I don't see much good about my appearance. I agree we should all love ourselves as they might make a difference to how we live our lives. That's such a nice thing to hear about your dh. It's hard to accept compliments when you struggle to see them.

Racheyg · 16/04/2018 20:29

This is dinner. I'm hoping it's ok portion and carb wise.

100g quorn pieces
150g butternut squash
Chipotle paste
Peppers
Onion
Lettuce
Radish
Cucumber
30g sour cream
20ml hot sauce

I'm not even sure what dinner is but tastes nice and is about 350 cals

Sorry for lack of posting - been hectic.
Welcome to HidCat

Green sorry to hear you had bad news, hope things have improved? Let me know if I can do anything.

You are all being so great, I'm not sure I'm desperate to do exact again. Although this may change after I weigh in tomorrow after 2 weeks shameful eating. I've worked out Ive about 17 weeks until we are planning to go away in August. So I'll definitely join you on the being strict plan.

Exciting to hear your holiday plans. Super excited for Spring to arrive. Think I need to get a clothes line Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 16/04/2018 20:42

Sol How lovely of your DH. We are all far too hard on ourselves.

Your dinner looks great rachey

Racheyg · 17/04/2018 07:11

Morning all,

Woke with another headache Sad when do the energy levels kick in?

pom good to hear from you, did you have a good holiday? Where are you off to in August?

We will be doing staycations this year. We have a family wedding in Plymouth, then going to peppa pig. We are also going to go to Brighton for a few days. I really want to go away abroad but oh has put a stop to that Sad

Pomegranatepompom · 17/04/2018 09:02

Oh no *Rachey) try a bovril drink, I think the salt helps.

Yes we had a great time, I have a 7lb gain to prove it Grin
Could you get a last minute deal? I think not more money often than a staycation?

Not sure re August, somewhere hot after a rainy Cornwall last year.

I'm going to start 5:2 again.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/04/2018 11:18

Rachey I always find a Pepsi Max or something eases the headaches. It’s probably just detox from no sugar. Your dinner looks gorgeous, it made me so hungry last night.

Glad to see you back Pom. A 7lb gain sounds like a great holiday Grin You’ll have that lost in no time with a few days healthy eating. A holiday in the sun sounds like good motivation, it’s worked for me anyway.

We have done staycations for the last few years Rachey. We had a great time. I think it’s best to focus on the positives about having time with your family and away from work. Going to a foreign country isn’t a guarantee of hot weather or good times.

I’m away at a training course for work today and tomorrow, but I left all my Exante at home Envy I was in a flap getting the kids to school and left them on the kitchen counter. I’m so mad at myself. There is a canteen here so I have started Day One of the James Duncan diet, I will not screw this weightloss mission up. I’ll do this for a week and then use up the rest of the Exante, I can’t believe I’m such an idiot. But onwards and upwards. I’m still not weighing myself til Friday though.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks sol and pom for the tips. Like sol says 7lb isn't bad after a 2 week holiday. That will be gone in no time on the 5:2

sol oh no, at least you can start the jd diet. I can't remember what you eat in it but I remember dry toast?

Tbh it's not just the money oh doesn't fancy going on a plane again with dcs. He finds their behaviour hard going.

I'm feeling a little better today, have not sat at my desk so much so I haven't felt as hungry.

Racheyg · 17/04/2018 21:04

A bit disappointed I didn't make it to the gym again. I still have this headache and sinus pain.

I have let myself down this evening I picked alittle when I got home. It wasn't awful foods but just chicken and a bit of bulgur wheat.

Had chicken salad tonight I think it totalled about 400 cals

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/04/2018 21:09

That’s good that you had a better day Rachey. I hope the energy part kicks in soon. I have to say I’m dreading the flight and airport with the kids, so I know where your DH is coming from. Tbh it took a lot of convincing to make me agree to this holiday and I get a pain in my stomach every time I think of how the kids might behave. It might be easier in a few years time with your two, they get more manageable with every year that passes. Are you going anywhere on honeymoon?

Day 1 of JD was great. I felt like I was eating mountains of food compared to Exante. I’m absolutely knackered now though so I’ll be heading to bed soon. There’s only one slice of toast and you have it with tomatoes. It’s a bit of a weird combo but I ate it anyway. I figured adding carbs and sugar to the mix after being on Exante would lead to a gain, so it’s probably best to see JD through to the end and then have Exante for the 3 days that’s left. April has been s month spent obsessing about food.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/04/2018 21:11

Oh sorry, cross posts there. Chicken and bulgar wheat should be ok. If you said you’d had a packet of hobnobs I would be saying different. Try not to be so hard on yourself. And if you’re unwell you really don’t want to be pushing yourself too hard.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 18/04/2018 08:18

sol have your dcs got easier with age? I guess 3 and 5 is a tough time. They seem to wind each other up and argue all the time.

I love tomatoes on toast with lots of salt and hot sauce Grin I'm glad the jd has started well, what's on the plan for today? I think I did it for 5 days and lost 7lbs last summer. I'm actually enjoying the exante diet (well apart from the headaches) I think it helps having 1 meal a day.

green how are you getting on?

pom have you started 5:2 ?

It's beautiful sunshine here in London I can't wait for tomorrow so we can play in the garden.

Today for the meal plan:
Breakfast
Toffee caramel shake

Lunch
Sweet and sour noodles

Dinner
Stir fry maybe tofu or prawn and egg (omelette style)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/04/2018 10:52

Mine have definitely gotten easier with age, they still have their moments but they are more manageable. But we had a very tough trip abroad a few years ago and it was misery, we have planned our next trip down to the second and changed our expectations. It won’t be a relaxing holiday at all really, we have to be up early and organise things to entertain the kids and there won’t be many dinners out because DS2 can’t cope with restaurants, but it will be lovely to hang out with the kids all day and give them new experiences.

Breakfast here was grapefruit and eggs.
Lunch is quorn chicken and tomatoes and toast.
And dinner is quorn steak and salad.

I’m keen for my weigh in on Friday. I want to see how much I’ve lost on 2 weeks. My stomach has definitely gone down in size and my jeans are looser around my thighs. I’m hoping for at least an 8lb loss in two weeks.

How are you getting on Pom and Green?

Gutted.........
I've just eaten a bread roll. Sad

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/04/2018 20:36

Just had a bit of Easter egg, you're not alone in cheating Rachel.

Morning all,

I hope you guys are having a great day in the sun.

Just a quick progress post and will post more later.

Not sure what weight was when started on Sunday.

Today 10st 4lbs

Hips 38 inches
Waist (at belly button) 36 inches
Bust 34 inches
Upper arms 11 inches

Did my spin class today and burnt 597 cals. I think the energy levels have kicked in. I normally do a circuit class straight afterwards but felt bad having ds2 in the crèche of so long when the weather is so nice

Be back soon x

SolitudeSometimesIs · 19/04/2018 20:58

You sound like you had a great day Rachel, that's good that the energy part had kicked in. How are you feeling?

I'm in two minds about whether to weigh in tomorrow. I am quite happy with my diet on the JD plan and I can see huge changes in my face and in my thighs, but I know I will be disappointed if it's not a big loss. I just had 4 pecan nuts and 3 slices of quorn ham as I was hungry - even my cheat snacks are good, normally I would have crisps.

How are you getting on Green and Pom?

I hope everyone is getting to enjoy the lovely weather.

Racheyg · 19/04/2018 22:11

sol I know what you mean about having a big loss, but I think we forget no one can see the number we weigh it's how we look. And if you are seeing a difference in face ect and your clothes are get loose surely that's a good sign. (I wish I could practice what I preach) Grin

Yeah wasn't a bad bad day, I did well and didn't have anything until the boys left some of their home made chips on their plate...... I couldn't resist there wasn't many but I think proceeded to eat 4 rice cakes dipped in hot salsa. Even with dinner I still came in at 980 cals. So alls not to bad.

I have to say I don't actually mind the exante food. Blush

Breakfast
Chocolate shake
Lunch
Indian curry and rice
Dinner
Mini chicken fillets marinated in chipotle
Roasted butternut squash
Salad

I think I might buy more exante while they still have the offer on.

Racheyg · 19/04/2018 22:12

How are yiu getting on green and pom.

Sorry for all my rambling posts I feel better letting it all out while hungry Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 20/04/2018 10:27

Evenings can be so hard Rachel, that's where I always screw up. It's when the kids are in bed that I end up picking at bits. I have been doing your trick of staying upstairs to avoid the kitchen, although I ended up having a glass of wine with DH last night.

I weighed in this morning and I am just over 9.5lbs down on my start weight. I'm so happy! It was nearly 10lbs but despite weighing myself about 5 times it refused to budge to 10lbs down. Usually I would have a big blow out tonight to congratulate myself on losing weight, but no, I am ploughing ahead with it.

Menu today:
Slice of dry toast.
Fruit.
Tofu and salad with grapefruit.

This is the toughest day so I just need to get my head down and do it. Your menu sounds so much nicer Rachey, do you still feel like you have lots of energy, how are your headaches?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 20/04/2018 10:59

I like reading your posts Rachey.

Sol congratulations, that’s amazing. I find Fridays really tough too.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 20/04/2018 11:11

Thanks Green. I'm not going to lie, it's been a tough two weeks foodwise. My eating habits are atrocious and having stripped away what I'm eating just shows me how much I overeat. I feel fine after a slice of dry toast for breakfast, two weeks ago I would have been ravenous. DH is away this weekend so I can focus on myself for a bit and not have to worry about making meals for him. I really need to make some big changes to my diet.

How are you getting on? Are you still on Exante?

OP posts:
Racheyg · 20/04/2018 14:36

sol well done 9.5lbs is an amazing loss. A glass of wine doesn't hurt and it's good to not deprive yourself too much otherwise you will have a big blow out. Did going up stairs work? That's great that your not having a big blow out.

green how are you getting on? I find weekends really tough but I'm actually enjoying the meals.

I have a meal planned for tonight (Turkish takeaway with family) and I'm out tomorrow night. I'm going to try and make good choices and try and restrict my carb intake.

Yeah still getting headaches Sad not sure if it's still my sinuses of not, I'm drinking so much water.

Did my spin class again this morning, it was tough in this heat but felt great afterwards. I burnt 545 cals on 45 minutes.

Breakfast
Chocolate shake

Lunch
Indian curry with rice

Dinner
Chicken shish with salad and rice.

pom how are you doing?

Racheyg · 20/04/2018 22:17

Just eaten my Turkish and avoided the bread woohoo me Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 20/04/2018 22:20

Amazing loss Sol You're reach your goal pre holiday Smile

When are you weighing in Rachey ?

I haven't managed any fast days and met up with a friend today and ate lots of bad food. I'm going to try and fast/low card this weekend.

How are you Green

Hope all enjoying the sun.
