TheCatOfAthenry · 06/11/2017 10:54

May I join?

168cm
91.7 kg (highest was 95, until 2 years ago I was always about 65).

Wedding next July. Getting back on the wagon!

twinkledag · 06/11/2017 10:57

I couldn’t resist jumping on the scales this morning – lost 2lbs! Now 10st 12, would be amazing to see 10st 7 by the end of this month!

Menu today:
porridge, soup, chicken and veg. plenty of wiggle room if something falls into my mouth!

BitOutOfPractice · 06/11/2017 10:58

I think doing it very short term is OK, for weeks on end, not so much. I', no expert but 500 calories a day every day will drive you bonkers

NamasteNiki · 06/11/2017 11:11

500 cals a day is starvation. Your appetite is likely to go crazy when you stop hence it being a pointless exercise.

HairsprayBabe · 06/11/2017 11:16

I do 8 weeks VLCD and then 4 weeks at about 1200 then back to the lower end.

lastqueenofscotland · 06/11/2017 12:41

Haven't weighed myself since Saturday. I had no food only alcohol on Saturday Blush and then ended up ordering a pizza or I was going to die on Sunday Angry

Hello, I'm jumping on the thread as I need a kick up the bum! Winter trousers are a little bit too snug and I know I've got heavy. No start weight yet as the batteries are dead in my scales but a start of 7lbs this month would be great and maybe even a stone by Christmas.

I'm on MFP and trying to stick to 1200 cals a day and doing 30day shred too. I WILL get back into my skinny less fat clothes!

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 06/11/2017 13:19

I ate pretty well (as in, ate loads!) while at my sisters but was pleased to see only a 0.2 gain this morning. So..

Start at 11st9
Today 11st7
Goal for Nov - 11st 3 (6lbs off).

Well done to others. Keep on it.

TVHubbyClaire · 06/11/2017 13:22

back..not great so far, cheese sandwich and cup a soup...have to eat to help me get through a weary day...oh and a fun size Mars left over from halloween...Sad

RhubarbCrumbled · 06/11/2017 13:57

I have batteries! Just need to get them into the scales. So far today I've had:
B: boiled egg
L: veg soup with cheese, avocado
S: nakd chocolate bar

Tea will be bolognese without the spag. In theory, that's about 1200cals.

Softpebbles · 06/11/2017 14:27

I couldn't stick to 500 calories a day - I come in most days around 1400. I struggle with 1200 too. I like lunch and dinner and always have some fruit at my desk mid morning in replace of breakfast.

We are bad in the office too as we always have a biscuits or something around 100 Cals around 2ish. This is better than the slice of cake we used to get from the restaurant. We only really go up there for coffee now if we want posh coffee!

Today

Banana and Satsuma

Carrot soup, Carrot crackers with Philly and ham

Kit Kat and a muller light (don't know why I brought it to work in error so still ate it Hmm )

Tea is Chicken Katsu ready meal with extra veg.

Naughtysausage · 06/11/2017 14:53

Hello all! Haven't caught up completely with what's happened on here over the weekend, but will soon.

I'm 2 Linda's down on my starting weight (10st2), but I think that's all af related as I've had a fairly relaxed weekend. Back on it today, hopefully a run this evening. Smile

KOKO everyone, especially koko.

NamasteNiki · 06/11/2017 15:13

If you look at Nhs guidelines on vlcd they are to be medically supervised and as a last resort for those with a bmi of over 30 where all else has failed. They are not long term either.

I can and have stuck to a plan of exercise & healthier eating for almost a year which is around 1500 cals a day and the exercise takes care of any excesses and binges. I can do that.

I couldn't do 500 cals long term. Id be utterly miserable and in a foul mood all day.

QuimReaper · 06/11/2017 17:27

Wow, this thread has exploded! I think it often happens that we get busy in November, people pushing for Christmas parties and the weather changing. I keep logging on and not managing to catch up which is why I've been so quiet but I've just had a MEGA catchup and am all up to date!

What a coincidence that Stellar and Arsey jumped back aboard at the same time - great to see you both back!

koko I'd just go for 500 twice a week, and try to stay under 1000 on the other days. I think 500 a day is too dramatic, it will make you very hungry and weak, and I'd be amazed if it didn't lead to you bingeing. The worst thing you can do is get stuck in a cycle of trying to do something unrealistic, failing, despairing, and then getting even more desperate and trying something unrealistic all over again. I feel like that might be a pattern you've flirted with?

ponygirlcurtis · 06/11/2017 17:38

I agree koko, no point doing something that will make you miserable. If you can manage a couple of fast days (500-600 cals), that could kick start things and might give you some motivation?

My Monday weigh-in wasn't as low as it has been, but still under 11st so I will take it. Will check out happy scale, thanks.

ponygirlcurtis · 06/11/2017 17:45

Happy scale is only for Apple. Sad Anyone use an Android one?

TheCatOfAthenry · 06/11/2017 17:53

I’ve done well today. Good portion control and had chia seed and tahini and coconut/almond/cacao mix.

Some circuits too and looking forward to a salmony dinner!

backinthatdress · 06/11/2017 18:40

Iv just downloaded happy scale to see if it can help me stay on track. I'm usually rubbish at writing stuff down but you never know!

Softpebbles- my office is always full of cakes and junk food, so frustrating sometimes.

Tv- that doesn't sound to bad! My blow outs are a lot worse, Iv are a whole 10 multipack of wispas in a day before lol

Lastqueen- I always have a Chinese on a Sunday if I'm hungover from the Saturday. It's such a bad habit. I won't be drinking out out til my work xmas do on the 9th December tho so I have all November to focus.

QuimReaper · 06/11/2017 18:44

backin long as you don't then get smashed on a sniff of mulled wine and end up slow dancing with Barry in accounts Grin

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 06/11/2017 21:15

Personally I think that however you go about losing weight, it has to be something you can stick at, it has to be bearable. If you make it too difficult for yourself you're just setting yourself up for failure. 500 calories a day in the long term would be absolutely miserable and you'd be likely to crack and go on a binge. Plus it's not good for you to restrict that much, there's no way you'd get enough protein, fibre, vitamins, fats, etc etc etc in your diet on 500 calories. That will definitely cause issues down the line.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 06/11/2017 21:16

Anyway welcome new faces!

This thread has got too busy for me to reply to everyone but it's great to hear how everyone is doing!

I'm finishing the day on 1200 calories and a chocolate digestive oops

NamasteNiki · 06/11/2017 21:24

500 calories a day in the long term would be absolutely miserable and you'd be likely to crack and go on a binge.

I agree spuriouser.

If someone genuinely was eating 500 calories a day long term they would like a famine victim pretty quickly.

But most of us are struggling here with weight loss. So it is apparent that vlcd is not sustainable and people do indeed exceed the amounts and crack and go on a binge.

NamasteNiki · 06/11/2017 21:24

*look like a famine victim
