I am away for work, so thats three days of hotel and restaurant food - this is not going well. Also I seem to have hurt my wrist as I can type no problem, so work is not affected (well it hurts but I can cope with it) but OMG lifted a glass of water at breakfast and the pain was excruciating - actually wasn't sure if i was goi

plumstone · 07/11/2017 11:48

pressed post too soon - wasn't sure if I was going to vomit or cry - its not bruised, red or swollen - by Jesus its sore - any ideas - googling wrist pain has me with carpel tunnel syndrome!!!

Blimey plum that sounds alarming. Sprained?

KOKO I think the others are right. Forget fads and fat and carbs and fasting and 5:2 and shakes etc. Just aim for fewer calories in than out. Pick a number (1200? 1500?) and just try and stick to it, one day at a time.

I do 1200. Today I've had / am having:

B: egg and mushrooms on toast
L: minestrone soup (tinned) and a slice of wholemeal toast plus fresh parmesan grated on top. A chocolate mousse
D: Hairy Dieters Creamy Chicken Tarragon pots with a few home made potato wedges and loads of steamed green veg.

That comes in at 944 calories so I might have a biscuit with my cup of tea at bedtime or after dinner. Plus a few calories for skimmed milk in coffee and I don't think that's a bad day's food. All tasty. 5 portions of F&V.

Sorry I hit post too soon. And I certainly don't feel deprived.

Planning is the key. I do an online shop with my meals planned each week. That way I control what I buy, spend less, and waste less.

We are here to help as much as you like.

How about you post your planned meals for the day here so you're less likely to cheat. Thanks

I have been doing punishing days at the gym lately and cycling everywhere.

My weight has dropped 2 kilos over the last month. Over the last week weight has stayed static but my fat percentage has dropped another 2%, my fat mass has dropped off a cliff and my muscle mass has increased.

Boditrax says my metabolic age is now 10 years younger than my actual age.

NamasteNiki · 07/11/2017 14:01

Sorry pics attached. Grin

That's brilliant Niki

I'm glad to see that someone else has very up and down Boditrax readings. Mine are like that too. BF's are much more steady

When I started it said my metabolic age was 62 Shock I was 49 at the time. Now I'm 50 and my metobolic age is 39

I cannot get my fat %age below 30 though Angry

Finally managing to get my head half back in the game. Off for a meal with a friend tonight and reckon it shouldn't be too hard to make decent choices

BOOP

One of the PTs at my gym posted this.

Progress is never a straight line.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/11/2017 17:15

I know that Niki. And my graphs like yours show a trend, not a straight line.

What I find odd is that my body fat %age can rise and fall by 4% overnight according to BodiTrax

Those graphs are fascinating - shows how much we fluctuate. But most importantly, they are going DOWN. well done.

I've had a really good day today. Overnight oats for breakfast, a fruit salad with feta cheese at lunchtime plus a satsuma. Baby bel at 5pm. But then - get me! - I came home from work, made homemade soup and plum crumble from scratch and then came to the gym and ran 5k. Looking forward to my tea now!

Softpebbles · 07/11/2017 20:16

Nice Keira.

I made lentil soup with ham stock from the weekend. Was very nice. 😋

TheDonald · 07/11/2017 21:27

keepon you sound a bit like me. I've been halfheartedly trying to lose weight since I gained 1.5 stone going through an early menopause 7 years ago.

I've found a good combination of MFP plus no processed sugar. Really I've lost weight because I've stuck to my MFP allowance but I don't think I'd have done that without cutting out sugar. Without sugar I don't have hungry mood swings and I don't get hungry again an hour after every meal.

I have had the occasional piece of cake on a birthday but I immediately notice that I get a false hunger afterwards so it puts me off doing it too often.

poorpaws · 07/11/2017 22:36

KOKO Flowers I have no wise words because I am struggling too. We will do this eventually, we really will.

backinthatdress · 07/11/2017 22:39

Niki- you have made some good progress by looking your charts.

Well today's been a good day. Stick to my points. Painted my bedroom to stop me eating then went over my mates house once my partner come home from work to look after the kids, had a Diet Coke and a catch up.

2 days til my first weigh in.

I seen a girl I haven't seen in a while recently and although she's never been big she's lost loads of weight and honestly looks great, it motivated me in a weird way to stick to it!

I also found out today someone I haven't seen in a year is coming back to visit home in feb next year and I will probably end up seeing them, I'd really like to look slimmer, I always go on about diets and lose + gain the same stone over and over.

TVHubbyClaire · 08/11/2017 07:50

A week closer to christmas and I was still 12st 8 yesterday. No more weigh ins this week as we are getting new bathroom put in . No big carb plans for rest of week or weekend so hopefully...just maybe 12st 6 by this time next week[hmm}

exercise and walking have dried up totally, I really need to get back into that. Why can I see where I am failing but not do anything about it Sad

HairsprayBabe · 08/11/2017 08:01

10.2 or 10.1 Don't know scales were indecisive after 3 attempts I had to get dressed!

DP said I looked, and this is a quote "Damn fine" this morning
Hmm not sure what has gotten into him!

Off to read back now.

KikisDeliveryService · 08/11/2017 08:09

2 lindas off this month :)

backinthatdress · 08/11/2017 09:06

Well done kiki

Hairspray - your obv looking hot haha, can't remember the last time my partner paid me a compliment lol!

QuimReaper · 08/11/2017 11:48

Ooooh, well done Kiki!

BOOP I can't believe that comes in at under 1000 calories, that's fantastic, it looks like tons of food too. I always say the only way to stick under 1,000 is to basically ditch the carbs but your menu proves otherwise. One thing I always struggle with with calorie counting is that I make a big portion of something and then divvy it up between me and DH and then sometimes there are leftovers for the fridge / freezer / lunches so that even if I calculated the calories for a whole crockpot / wok whatever I wouldn't know what % of it I'd eaten. Your calories always seem to precise - how do you tackle it?

splat I try to make sure I do 10K steps at least M-Th. It's made a real difference to me because I tend to work from home and hadn't realised how sedentary I was - I'd go whole days without really leaving the house, and probably getting about 4,000 steps in, which was really pathetic. I now go out for a walk for about an hour a day to get my count up, which has to be much better than sitting around. It does help boost your calorie deficit on those days if you keep your intake very light like I do, but as Donald says, if you're already active it probably isn't necessary to bother counting.

backin I laughed at "Painted my bedroom to stop me eating" - makes it sound like you were just kicking around at home trying to avoid the fridge so totally spontaneously started redecorating Grin

QuimReaper · 08/11/2017 11:53

koko Flowers sorry to hear you're still a bit lost. Here's one firm instruction for you: for the time being there will be no more fast days! I bet you'll actually end up eating less if you're not trying to stick to 500 calories, and you won't have the guilt. Would you like us all to post a day's food to inspire you? Or just a dinner?

For instance, tonight I'm making grilled seabass fillets on a bed of spinach, warm cherry tomatoes and samphire, the whole lot sprinkled with Parmesan. DH is having pan-fried gnocchi with his - I personally always make a carb element for him but don't partake myself, but it's still a nice light supper with them. I used to add little flakes of crisped prosciutto too but DH gave up processed meat, the bastard.

QuimReaper · 08/11/2017 11:55

TV I think when something very stressful happens in your life it's easy to have things slip off the rails, and it can take a bit of a push to get back into the rhythm. You were doing great on the stepping for a while there, how about getting back into that?

QuimReaper · 08/11/2017 11:56

Sorry, I mis-phrased that last bit - I meant to say how about getting back into the swing of it one thing at a time, starting with the stepping?

TieGrr · 08/11/2017 12:06

It's funny how quick taste buds change. I've massively cut down on milk chocolate and started having a square or two of dark chocolate a day, and now dark chocolate is starting to taste lovely and sweet.
