newaverage I think most diets can stall and plateau sometimes. Maybe you could look into jump-starting a stall? Or try a different approach, like cutting back on dairy? I know on the low carbing some people find dairy slows thing down too.

That's fab plumstone! I have also only just broken through the 11 barrier again and do not want to be back up there.

plumstone · 25/10/2017 09:57

Thanks Pony - I find throwing in a couple of days in the last week of 16:8 have finally moved the numbers down - its almost like tricking my metabolism!!!

QuimReaper · 25/10/2017 10:13

Woohoo, well done plum that's great! And well done on the job MrHairspray! You're so close to the 9s now Hairspray, you must be itching to get there!

newaverage have you thought about trying to have a couple of vegetarian days a week? You could ease into it by cutting out red meat (which will cut out bacon etc.) and then only have fish before trying to cut that too. Even if you only got as far as fish and veg, you're bound to find yourself eating more veg, more lean protein, and thus fewer calories.

Hi everyone

weekend in Edinburgh was obviously too good. Managed more than 10,000 steps and was "swimming" about 6 times but weight this morning was 12st 8 so back up higher than I've been most of the month Sad

Quim is totally right. My sweet tooth is completely my downfall. Will have to start trying much harder again. So far my greatest successes have been around an after dinner coffee and small piece of dark chocolate.

Looking to find my weight loss mojo again....Hmm

TheDonald · 25/10/2017 16:08

TV hubby. I can definitely vouch for the fact that Edinburgh is no place to diet!

I'm already on 1400 calories today and we're going out for a meal again tonight.

Dreading the scales this Saturday! I might have to take up fasting on Friday to undo it all.

TVHubbyClaire · 25/10/2017 16:29

Donald - sounds like a good time. where have you been?

I have definitely found out that espresso martinis are not calorie free...Sad

treaclesoda · 25/10/2017 17:55

So far so good today for dodging the sugar. It has only been three days but I definitely am not feeling the yearning quite so strongly. I haven't gone cold turkey, I'm allowing myself a tiny bit in the evening. But I did have a headache all day yesterday and wondered if it might be the change in diet? Or it could have been a big old coincidence of course Grin

NikiBabe · 25/10/2017 21:24

Have a NSV to report. Have been doing body pump twice a week now. My quads and arm muscles are really developing well.

When I went swimming I thought I had a propeller attached to me Grin Able to swim with much more drive. I can also do plank and side plank and hold it for ages.

I havent weighed for a couple of days.

I finally have af so hoping for some kind of loss.

QuimReaper · 25/10/2017 21:56

treacle have you been drinking lots more wate? I sometimes get headaches on fast days and picked up a tip from the 5:2 threads to have a spoonful of marmite, apparently depleted salt can do it, also a danger if you've suddenly decided to go full 2.2l

treaclesoda · 25/10/2017 22:46

Actually I probably haven't drunk enough water... I need to add that to my 'to do' list.

I've not had anything this evening. I brushed my teeth at about 7.30 to try to convince myself that eating hours are over, no tea and a biscuit this evening for me.

I'm lying in bed with a rumbling stomach but I've never been someone who eats during the night or anything, so I've managed another day with greatly reduced sugar intake. Hope I can keep it up.

HairsprayBabe · 26/10/2017 07:57

10.3 I find it almost impossible to lose when I am not at work!

Attempting a non work fast day today... wish me luck😨

Also anyone remember I applied for a job at the end of August? Just found out I have an interview in a few weeks 😱😱😱

TVHubbyClaire · 26/10/2017 09:02

thats great news hairspray ...good luck with the interview

I skipped dinner last night because I went to a football game. This morning's weigh in was a more palatable 12st 6. The burning question is can I keep it there and then lower.....Hmm

TheDonald · 26/10/2017 09:26

Great news hairspray. Good luck.

TV we've been for lunch at the cafe where JK Rowling wrote Harry potter. We were going to go to the Vietnamese last night but one of the teens felt ill so we ate at the hotel.

They've been promised breakfast at the hotel this morning (at £15.50 each!) I'm not sure I can bring myself to just have a small bowl of porridge!

Plus I've had a drink both nights after almost 3 years off alcohol (for bad hangovers) so adding that to mfp was not fun!

Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.

NikiBabe · 26/10/2017 13:05

Good luck with interview Hairspray.

I have a whoosh. A 3lb loss. Nearly back down to my lowest ever.

My fat mass and percentage are the lowesr ever though Grin

QuimReaper · 26/10/2017 14:00

Ooooh, well done on the losses TV and Niki, and on the interview Hairspray!

treacle in that case maybe it's dehydration? I suspect sugar withdrawal can cause headaches as it (obviously) affects your blood sugar, but I'm not knowledgable on that subject. Have you been eating carbs? If sugar was your main source of carbs before, could you be going into ketosis? If so keep at it, ketosis is fab Grin

Pity to be lying in bed with a rumbling tum though, surely not having the biscuits didn't leave you hungry? Or were you deliberately fasting?

QuimReaper · 26/10/2017 14:01

I'm so envious of people having "whooshes". It never ever happens to me Sad

Therealjudgejudy · 26/10/2017 15:55

That's great hairspray, good luck!

Late finishing work today so heading to the gym in half an hour. Breakfast was a pint of lemon water. 2 slices of sesame poppy seed toast with laughing cow cheese spread and I'm having 2 cauliflower cheese grills and a large salad for dinner later.

I'm not weighing myself till I finish the gym tomorrow so fingers crossed I'm getting back to where I want to be.

TV espresso martinis sound amazing! Grin

leesmum · 26/10/2017 20:04

Fantastic Nikki and Hairspray really well done ladiesFlowers
I've not had a brilliant October and have a weekend abroad coming up so it's not an idea time to be trying to diet.

poorpaws · 26/10/2017 22:11

Hairspray fingers crossed for you and lots of luck.

Niki well done you, we are miles apart with weight now - I have to catch you up.

Quim I don’t get whooshes either ☹️

Leesmum don’t worry about October, there’s always November and if you’re away then we can scrap December and start again in January. 😱 blimey Im Wishing my life away. Rethink, there’ll be a week or two in November and December we can catch up. I’m not doing so well either.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

KikisDeliveryService · 26/10/2017 22:57

I’m sorry treacle I’m on holiday for a few days and immediately fallen off the sugar wagon. I’ll be back on it on Monday though!

quim I only whoosh in the wrong direction these days Sad, I also only lose weight if I go to bed rumbling-tum hungry more often than not. It’s all become far more difficult now I’m well into my 40s, I lost so much weight in the latter half of my 30s, it slid off pretty easily in those days. sigh

treaclesoda · 27/10/2017 05:13

I fell off the sugar wagon too, because frankly I had a spectacularly bad day as my elderly mother took a bad turn and ended up in hospital and I was afraid it was the beginning of the end. But she has rallied now. But having said that, my chocolate binge was really just what I would have viewed as 'normal' a week ago, so even the fact that I'm viewing it as a blow out seems like a positive change in mindset.

HappyGowerGirl · 27/10/2017 07:03

Hello all, Wow this thread is moving fast at the moment! My diet has not been great this week, I've made some questionable choices (quite a lot of fatty/salty foods) and two nights out in a row as well🍷🍷🍷

However I've been pretty good controlling the damage by trying to restrict my overall calorie intake... So yesterday I skipped breakfast, then had cake at 11am, then I had an apple for lunch. I had a portion of chips at 4pm (oops!) but I wasn't hungry after that so I didn't have dinner.

Weighed in at 60.0kg (9.6lb) this morning, it could be a whole lot worse!

HairsprayBabe · 27/10/2017 08:39

Thank you all! Just tried on my suit and it is hanging off me in a most unflattering way, so I will need to replace that...

Glad your mother is doing a better now Treacle

10.2 sts... at least it isn't a gain... only 2lbs to go to make it 7 for the month. My god the end is paaainful!

TVHubbyClaire · 27/10/2017 09:56

hairspray still a great NSV....enjoy buying a new suitSmile

I recently gave 2 suits away to my brother for the same reason. I had worn one of them once and the other that I bought last christmas still had tags on.....who knew weight loss could be this expensive. I have now had three pairs of jeans/trousers taken in because they were still fairly new and too big

judge I can thoroughly recommend espresso martinis Smile

DS away for sleepover tomorrow night so I can see some calories in liquid form being consumed....fingers crossed its not too bad on Monday when i weigh inHmm

Therealjudgejudy · 27/10/2017 15:27

Just back from the gym...weighed in today. 9stone 4lbs. Yay Grin

Think it will be takeaway pizza for dinner tonight ( only a small one obviously!)
