I suppose, I am just nosey, and like cake...
According to google she has done iyengar yoga, which burns approx 175 cals an hour, three times a week.

Just seems like she must have done something else, possibly not intentionally... either divorce stress or being busy and eating less naturally, smaller portions I dunno.

Apparently she has lost 3st.... I really love her and want to have her life (in about 2008) a bit!

Just constantly hosting dinner parties and entertaining, sounds so fab and glam to me!

NikiBabe · 24/10/2017 11:12

Some people on here dont exercise at all and have lost weight.

That article says she is eating healthily too though she just isnt cutting out sweet things.

It does all seem glam. My lifestyle is a joke for my age it is so crappy

HairsprayBabe · 24/10/2017 11:19

Yes me being one of them Niki! I am doing well if I work out twice a month tbh!

Yes I suppose, I guess she doesn't want to spark a media storm with NIGELLA'S DIET SECRETS REVEALED.
If all she is doing is eating more sensible food then there is no need to "cash in" on it. Plus it sort of goes against her all pleasure image.

plumstone · 24/10/2017 11:20

Well to be fair to Nigella (I love her circa 2008 too) if she was out at a party and ate cake and then called that dinner and then didn't eat again till breakfast the next day - it probably wouldn't change her weight - I believe that weight gain (in my case anyway) is a culmination of how I lived and ate for most of my 20s. One slice of cake or a takeaway meal 3-4 times a year did not a three stone gain make!!!!

No in my 40s I have a lifestyle that is 1000 times better than what I had 20 years ago - but most importantly I feel so much better for it. I don't have a sweet tooth so if I never ate cake again wouldn't bother me - but my diet where the main foodstuff was cheese and bread explains a lot - but if I am out and having dinner now - its no starter, grilled fish and veggies (sauce on the side) and then a cheese board all for me!!! Its a choice I know some people who won't eat all day so they can have the biggest pudding they can actually order - its what works for you, that can be maintained so that it becomes habit!

HairsprayBabe · 24/10/2017 11:30

Yes I always feel she must have eaten much less than her tv shows let on. I don't imagine she was always rooting around in the fridge at midnight in a satin nightgown for an extra helping of dessert!

Still love her though!

KikisDeliveryService · 24/10/2017 12:23

I do the 'kitchen in closed' thing, although again, I need to get back on that! Low cal hot chocolate is my halfway house between full-on sugar and no sugar. It helps, but I still have to stop that too to get rid of the cravings.

To be honest I blame Bake Off, we always have something to go with it and then that means I'm never quite sugar free when it's on, and the once a week event creeps up on me until suddenly I'm eating it daily, more than once. I don't know what's happened to my self control lately.

I sweat buckets in yoga class! It's not just a light bit of stretching if you do it right!

I've had those delicious ginger oatcakes treacle but I've just checked on the Nairns website and they are actually biscuits and not remotely sugar-free sadly.

treaclesoda · 24/10/2017 12:35

Aw, that's a shame. I hadn't actually tasted then or looked at the ingredients and was just hoping that they were more oatcake than biscuit. Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/10/2017 13:03

If you are suffering with post dinner carb cravings, 'needing something sweet' it can be linked to insulin resistance, in fact it's quite common if you're insulin resistant. It's definitely worth researching because there are things you can do to curb it, things like intermittent fasting, eating more good fats etc will make you less insulin resistant, and hopefully curb that craving. It's a horrible feeling that despite eating a delicious dinner it's never quite enough. For me, the post dinner sweet leads to evening munchies in a big way too.

NikiBabe · 24/10/2017 14:35

I also think I eat too little calories during the day. So at night I crave more.

Therealjudgejudy · 24/10/2017 19:56

Did my gym session at 5.30 this evening instead of the am. Great workout but the gym gets crazy busy at that time. Just had baked mackerel fillets and plum tinned tomatoes for dinner. A twix and a cup of tea and an hour vegging on the couch is now calling Smile

Strongest indication yet that hot PT doesn't like me. I feel like crap.

Softpebbles · 24/10/2017 21:21

1400 calories today. Only 8.5k steps.

I struggle to stick to 1200 calories. 😫

QuimReaper · 24/10/2017 22:31

Kiki yes, sometimes a little bit of something sweet can just enrage the sugar monster, especially if it isn't satisfying!

How have you coped this eve treacle?

What happened Niki?

QuimReaper · 24/10/2017 22:32

Softy 1200 is tough. Can you post a typical 1400 day's food and maybe we can suggest some ways to shave it down?

NikiBabe · 24/10/2017 23:09

1200 cals is so hard. I go to 1400.

QuimReaper I went to hot PTs class tonight.

When I arrived for class he was talking to someone.

He didnt see me arrive so I just sat down on a mat and waited for class to start.

I could hear his conversation though.

He was asking if she was in the whatsapp group. It is going to be on Thursday, only a select group of people for his birthday drinks and she said to her shhhh keep it quiet.

Then he looked up and saw me, immediately changed the subject, told me what the focus of the class was going to be (something he never does) and asked about my knee.

Arrogant bastard.

Keeping his birthday drinks quiet and hoping I hadn't heard him.

Who fucking cares or wants to go?!

That as big an indication as any that he does not in fact like me though. Sad

NikiBabe · 24/10/2017 23:11

For the benefit of the newbies, hot PT is the personal trainer at my gym whom I have fancied for months and I thought he was flirting with me too. Apparently not.......

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/10/2017 06:31

Niki that's a shame. I positively hated dating and the confusing second guessing all the time. There could be lots of reasons why he didn't ask his clients though, perhaps this woman was a gf of one of his mates, or a work mate's gf/wife- so invited to his b'day but he didn't want his actual clients to go to his birthday drinks? (He isn't going to want his pt clients to see him shitfaced, singing wonderwall in the gutter and getting a kebab!)

Up early with ds, watching a bit of paw patrol. Yesterday didn't go too well, had a few goodies at a children's Halloween party. The dc are going to dm's today for a few days which is great, it gives me a chance to go for a run each day and removes a lot of temptation.

I'm thinking of doing a 30 day Paleo for November just to really kick start myself before Christmas. The BSD principles are quite similar to Paleo, except I eat a lot of dairy (and think I'm a bit addicted to it!) and I do eat quite a lot of processed foods such as ham/bacon etc. I'm struggling at the moment to keep on track, so feel I need a proper shake up and get the scales moving again. Has anyone ever done a Paleo diet? Any advice?

treaclesoda · 25/10/2017 06:33

Quim I coped ok yesterday, thanks. Had two squares of chocolate in the evening, but nothing else sweet all day, which a big improvement for me.

HairsprayBabe · 25/10/2017 07:01

Awh Niki that sucks Sad

10.2 should have been lower but got very nibbly while making dinner last night and was eating ingredients rather than cooking them!

V good and exciting news DP has been offered a new job, great pay for our age industry and area and on a permenant contract! Thrilled is not the word and he could start as soon as the 6th!

Softpebbles · 25/10/2017 07:28

Well done Mr Hairspray.

It's the snacking Quim. 😫

ponygirlcarcass · 25/10/2017 07:58

Yaaaay for your DP, Hairspray.

That's a shame Niki.

neeaveragebear I eat low carb rather than paleo but I think it's similar in terms of little processed foods? Which bit of it are you struggling with?

KikisDeliveryService · 25/10/2017 08:32

Ugh, what an arse he is niki, clearly just flirting with you to get business :(

Whoop to your DH hairspray!

I had some dried fruit in the evening treacle which did satisfied sugar craving without me wanting MORE SUGAR. Well done to you for your minimal intake. Let's do it all again today!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/10/2017 09:05

Pony I'm doing the blood sugar diet, have been for about 18 months. I guess I'm struggling with my diet as a whole. The calorie count is low for BSD but I do tend to do only 3 days at the low calories and just follow the principles the rest of the time. This is resulting in a general maintain, no weight loss for 2 months. As a result, I am just finding I'm falling of the waggon spectacularly at weekends and can't get back on it. I was considering whether it's the relatively high amount of dairy I eat, plus I eat quite a lot of ham, bacon, etc which are processed foods. I don't eat 'freezer food' kind of things. I'm just considering whether to go really back to basics and only use whole foods for a few weeks, cut out the dairy and other things that are BSD friendly but not Paleo?

I'm currently just bobbing around the 12.1/ 11.13 mark and so every time I go off plan I end up back in that higher stone bracket and it's just so demotivating. I'm struggling generally with life at the moment, so the diet is basically following that! I thought maybe a positive shake up might re-energise me and make me feel a bit better. Just anticipating a long winter. Ds already had a cold for 5.5 weeks non stop!

plumstone · 25/10/2017 09:11

Morning All - too bad Niki, sounds like a Dick!

On happier news I can happily report that, today's weigh starts with a 10 - thats right people a beautiful 10, no flickering between that and 11 but a solid, straight to point, no fannying about 10. Ok so the next was a 13 but who cares about that (me when I am going from 10.10 to 10.9 - its a single figure battle that will last about three weeks while my hips try to hang on to every last ounce of flab!!!)

So delighted as had promised myself a chippy tea this evening, now feeling slightly more enthused about the courgette and cannelinni bean soup thats in the fridge!!!

Have a great day!!
