Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

So week one didn't go well for me. I had a busy weekend and are far too much and haven't got back on track. I've put on .5lb.

Am back on track from today though.

Morning all! Some great losses here, keep it up, we've got this!

A 3.2lb loss for me and I am OVER THE MOON!
Starting weight 13st6
20/09/17 13st2.8

Using MFP has been massively helpful. I've still had a few treats (no booze though) but just very small amounts.

Have a great day everyone x

Ratbagcatbag · 20/09/2017 07:20

Morning all.

A bit late to the party but can I join please? I've got about 4 stone to lose but my issue is at 13st I get comfortable and don't mind. I'm now 13st 7lb and would love love love to attempt 12st 7lb before xmas.
I've done SW and I lost 12lb before falling off the wagon and putting 7lb back on.
I'll be doing SW plan.

Good luck all. :)

Firefries · 20/09/2017 09:53

Thanks Keira. That's really helpful. I'll keep going. I do feel different physically even if I have put on weight, so thanks, I appreciate the encouragement.

HarrietBasset · 20/09/2017 13:53

I'm not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow I was quite good yesterday but have been a bit carb heavy today though still way under calories for now.
B - granola with yogurt and berries
L - toasted cheese and tomato sandwich and crisps and a banana
D - I'm working from 5 until 9 so might try and have a early dinner with the kids of pasta and salad.

On the upside I've walked my 10000 steps already today which I can often find hard in the week as my job is sitting down with clients so it's not like I can wonder about as I used to when I worked in an office at least.

Loving the support here ❤❤

twinklestar2 · 20/09/2017 18:24

I'm really not doing well - ended up going out for lunch so chicken salad is still in the work fridge! I'm cooooooold and that makes me hungry. I will keep going though.

FireflyGirl · 20/09/2017 20:29

Silver well done for sticking with it. There are still 13.5 weeks until Christmas!

Well done on a great loss, Yessica. That's amazing!

Welcome Ratbagcatbag, are you joining a SW group or just following the plan at home?

How did today go, Firefries?

Harriet fingers crossed your weigh in tomorrow reflects all your hard work.

Keep on keeping on, twinkle. Life just gets in the way sometimes. But accepting some days you will stray is a good way to keep yourself on track long term.

I was incredibly busy at work today, hardly had chance to have a drink never mind eat, and no time for lunch.

B: nothing (usually eat cereal at my desk)
L: a packet of crisps and some strawberry pencils that I found lurking in the back of my drawer.
D: homemade chicken burger, sweet potato fries and salad
S: cereal bar, curly wurly squirlies

I am well under my calories today, but I've also started my period, or as close to it as I get as I'm on the mini pill. I'm feeling a bit yacky and sorry for myself.

Tomorrow should be a better day!

Thanks Firefly -
Managed to stick to mfp calories today and already feel better for it.

Movablefeast · 20/09/2017 20:35

Twinkle protein helps you feel full and not hungry between meals, if you can find a protein bar that you like that is a good option between meals. I try and keep some around when I'm really busy in case I find I am late for a meal. Other good protein options are two eggs scrambled with two egg whites in a pan sprayed with non-fat, low-calorie cooking oil, 4 oz of fish, turkey or chicken breast, non-fat yogurt, smoked salmon slices etc. You should have veg or fruit with each meal.

It's getting colder here too (I am not in the UK) and I have found myself snacking more than usual, so I'm trying to keep plenty of protein on hand.

AuntyElle · 20/09/2017 20:36

What a good idea! I'd like to join in too. I'll weigh myself tomorrow. Things have got entirely out of hand!
Confused

Movablefeast · 20/09/2017 20:37

Low fat cheese sticks are another good one that are easy to have with you.

twinklestar2 · 20/09/2017 20:37

Thank you moveable. I had 2 eggs at 7am but was hungry again at 10 so had porridge. 😬

ducksauce · 20/09/2017 23:56

Had a crap few days Sad been logging on MyFitnessPal and today was 600 cal over what it said I should be. But I guess only 2100 total so not a total disaster!

Anyone else find it hard to stay on track when you're tired and not in a great mood? Had bad news so been comfort eating! Any tips for breaking that habit?

Firefries · 21/09/2017 03:28

Thanks for asking Firefly. Today was okay. I went just over my cals for the day (on MFP) but not much. No run today but I needed a break to rest one of my legs. Going running again tomorrow. The thing is I mostly go under my calories and do exercise. I'll keep going as I feel so much better overall, but I'm really hoping to lose some substantial weight before Christmas. Good luck to everyone else, and keep on going!! We can do this.

Movablefeast · 21/09/2017 05:50

Ducksauce I think losing weight/making lifestyle changes is basically a mind game. I find it very hard to do if I don't have the headspace due to stress or other reasons that affect my mindset.

I have been on a lifestyle program at the gym I go to this year run by doctors. They showed us studies where if you are stressed you don't lose weight, also if you don't have enough sleep you eat more! So they emphasize 8 hours sleep and stress management.

Movablefeast · 21/09/2017 05:51

And exercise is a great stress reliever and is a very effective antidepressant.

HarrietBasset · 21/09/2017 07:06

0.5lbs on this morning.... not at all surprising after my binge weekend away but still bloody annoying. Going to try and low carb a bit over the next few days where I can go out for dinner tonight and Saturday which isn't very helpful!
Totally agree that stress and emotional eating go hand in hand for me I sometimes wish I was one of these people who loses their appetite when they're stressed but I just seem to reach straight for the biscuit tin Blush

Tinkhasflown · 21/09/2017 08:14

I didn't manage to get on yesterday but I was down 2lb when I weighed. I'm so delighted. Will catch up with all the other posts later 😀

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 21/09/2017 08:57

Can I join please! Currently 13st 3lbs at 5"4" which is classified as obese Confused I put on 3 stone while carrying DC1 (now 14 months) and never really lost it despite breastfeeding (burns 500 cals a day my arse!) Started slimming world last week and been following it loosely but can about to start getting stricter with myself. My weigh in day is a thursday and i'm aiming to do 3 gym classes a week (zumba combat and pump) then walk lots on the days i'm not at the gym. Lost 2lbs last week and hoping to lose a stone by christmas. Looking forward to us all supporting each other

OverinaFlash · 21/09/2017 10:51

I would love to join. 10 st 5, hoping to be 9 st 7 by Christmas (so not quite a stone I guess!)

Tiredemma · 21/09/2017 19:34

Lost 2lbs so far!

Silvertap · 21/09/2017 20:44

Overina - that's my target too.

Well done tired Emma.

I've kept within mfp today despite eating 3 of the cupcakes made for the school bake sale - went for a 1.5 hr walk whilst trying to get dd to sleep.....it didn't work!

FireflyGirl · 21/09/2017 22:14

Just a quick check-in tonight.

B: shreddies with almond milk
L: chicken and mushroom risotto with salad
D: spaghetti Bolognese
Snacks: cereal bar, dinky Deckers

Within my calories, just. I look to be well on track to lose at least another pound this week, but I'm out for tea on Saturday. Need to know where to plan my meals!
