Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

Well done on staying the same while living a little. We are doing well - imagine where we will be by Christmas.....

IheartCaptainHolt · 23/04/2018 21:49

Well my scales have been awful this last week, I was three whole pounds up from the day before yesterday! I was outraged! Then my first period since I got pregnant (DS2 is now 11 months) arrived.

Not feeling great that they have returned but at least it explains what was inexplicable scales wise.

So not hopeful for WI on Wednesday but I've been 100% on plan bar the Sunday lunch last week so next week should be a good loss. Pleased I managed to get through pmt with out bingeing.

Sorry for the slight ramble!

How are you doing? Think we will need a whole new wardrobe in the xmas sales at this rate!!

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/04/2018 21:21

I saw your post last night but I was such a grumpy Gertie that I had no supportive words!! I have kept on the straight and narrow and will weigh in the morning. You may find that by tomorrow night at least some of the 3lbs has vamoosed. Fingers crossed.
I'll update in the morning.

JugglingMummyof2 · 25/04/2018 09:05

8st 9.6lbs. Pleased with that. Onwards and inwards we go.

IheartCaptainHolt · 25/04/2018 21:28

Good work. How much have you lost now?

1.5lb on for me this week but that's ok considering the circumstances! I'll keep on it and see a good loss next week.

I know what you mean about being too grumpy to reply sometimes. I've decided to stop breastfeeding and I feel so much happier now I've made the decision.

IheartCaptainHolt · 25/04/2018 21:30

Posted to soon!

I get grumpy when I'm mulling over putting off making a decision and I feel it looming over me. I've been thinking about cutting out breastfeeding for a few weeks so it's a relief to have decided what to do!

JugglingMummyof2 · 26/04/2018 08:11

Lost 1st 1.4lbs - had a few ups in there but that is the net loss.
Big decision to stop beast feeding but now you are back at work I am sure it will simplify things a bit for you.
Small word of warning - if you are still doing a few feeds a day then it will really impact on how much you can eat. If you have been dropping feeds and maybe are just down to one, then not too much.
It is an emotional decision as well when it is your last baby but such a liberation!!
You have a great attitude to weight loss and you will be losing again by next Wednesday.

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/05/2018 11:25

8st 9lbs
Happy enough.
Hope the stopping breast feeding is going well.

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/05/2018 21:22

That's good going. Have you bought new summer clothes yet?

1.5lb off so back down to my lowest weight which is good. Would like this final stone off by mid July so think that is doable.

Stopped morning feeds now so only doing night ones and I'll knock them on the head next week I think. Going ok so far but the night ones will be worst as I'm lazy and use it to get him back to sleep

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/05/2018 21:39

Good job Iheart - you are doing great.
I bought some stuff from here;
uk.romwe.com/UK-WomenClothing-vc-24555.html?icn=Clothing&ici=rwuk_navbar02
Really nice quality at ridiculously cheap prices - lovely 100% cotton dresses for £12-£18
Takes about 2 weeks to arrive but my girls and I have bought lots and everything has washed really well - God I sound ancient!!!!

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/05/2018 22:07

Thanks for the tip!

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/05/2018 07:37

8st 9.8.
Not too bad given the lovely weekend weather wise.
Fingers crossed for a great result for you.

IheartCaptainHolt · 09/05/2018 21:23

1.5lb off this week and I feel the same as you re the sunshine so pleased with that! DS2 is not remotely bothered by bfing being stopped so that is good news

JugglingMummyof2 · 10/05/2018 16:56

So glad that you had a smooth transition and another loss - well done x 1000.

JugglingMummyof2 · 16/05/2018 08:54

8st 7.6
Must be GCSE stress working in my favour.

IheartCaptainHolt · 16/05/2018 08:56

That's great! Well done!

WI for me tonight, went out for pizza and prosecco on Friday so not hopeful but it was delicious so I'm not fussed!

JugglingMummyof2 · 16/05/2018 09:09

Yay Iheart - you have done so well that in order to keep going you must have breaks from the routine - good for you.

IheartCaptainHolt · 16/05/2018 19:51

1.5 on which is what I lost last week. It's fair enough and suspect I will bob about a bit like this until my milk dries up (fingers crossed for a big loss then!)

JugglingMummyof2 · 16/05/2018 22:42

Not too bad at all - I have been down and a it up then down again. It is the downward trend that counts.

IheartCaptainHolt · 19/05/2018 08:34

Been talking to my mum this weekend and have decided to cut myself some slack and relax a little. Another stone off would be great and in 6 months time (hopefully sooner) I'll be there.

But for now, I'm at the size I wanted to be. I tried a dress on that I want to wear for a wedding in June and it fits. I last wore it the day after I go married 5 years ago so I'm at my wedding weight (or near enough as I didn't weigh myself then).

If you'd have told me I'd be this size a year ago I wouldn't have believed it!

DS2 is 1 today, I'm going to enjoy the bbq and cake and then work on maintaining my weight until my milk dries up when I'll concentrate on losing again.

You've been a great help over the last 8 months (blimey!) so thank you!

I'll keep posting here though as I don't want to start gaining. I'll keep going to SlimmingWorld too as I love my group.

Sorry it's been such an essay!

JugglingMummyof2 · 19/05/2018 10:08

It is great that we have supported each other - I feel the benefit too.
Enjoy your sons party today and the fact that you look great in your dress. Long posts are very welcome - we, as a household, are doing GCSEs at the moment - only DD1 is actually sitting the exams but we all feel part of the process so I have been briefer than usual.
This day 4 weeks and it will be all over. Do please keep posting - it will stop us both going off track too much.

JugglingMummyof2 · 23/05/2018 08:37

8st 7.4 - better than a gain I suppose.
Hanging in there exam wise.
Please do keep posting - through our ups and downs.

IheartCaptainHolt · 23/05/2018 10:33

Sorry I forgot to post! How are you doing exams wise? How many more left to go?

I'm hoping to maintain this week so we will see how tonight goes

JugglingMummyof2 · 23/05/2018 19:22

9 down - 15 to go or 10 down if you count the French oral.
We are surviving pretty well but will be pleased when we get to 11am on Friday as we then have 9 days before the next onslaught.
Good luck tonight

IheartCaptainHolt · 27/05/2018 16:10

I hope you are enjoying your BH weekend. I'm at my in laws this afternoon drinking wine in the garden which is bliss!

Just think of the relaxing summer you can have once the exam stress is over. And how great you'll look in summer clothes now you are slim! I'm wearing my bathing Aldi shorts today and I look pretty good (if I do say so myself!!)
