Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

How was your night out?

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/02/2018 23:49

It was great - really delicious food and so nice to spend time together even though we talked about the girls 80% of the time! This half term has been a disaster eating wise though - loads of 'special' meals, takeaways x2 and even double egg and chips for lunch on Friday - I think I need to prepare myself for next Wednesdays result and focus on the 28th February result as I'm hoping I will be back on track by then.

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/02/2018 18:24

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves. It's such a faff to organise adult only time but it's so worth it.

As long as you get back on the wagon I wouldn't worry about letting things slide over half term. You have to live a little! I think maintenance will be easier with that attitude (if I ever get there!)

Not overly hopeful for weigh in on Tuesday. Pancake day and M&S valentines meal with prosecco May have scuppered a big loss. Still trying to balance eating less as DS2 weans off bfing but not letting myself get too hungry so I binge!

IheartCaptainHolt · 20/02/2018 10:14

Another 1lb off, this is getting hard now!

JugglingMummyof2 · 21/02/2018 20:58

Iheart - well done another 1lb is super.
I am afraid I am a failure to the thread as I have gone over 9st again - bums - I am not surprised and to be fair I had a sneeky weigh-in on Monday morning and have dropped 1.5lbs since then.
I am back on the straight and narrow this week and will be back to normal(?) by next Wednesday.
Onwards and inwards.....

IheartCaptainHolt · 28/02/2018 19:05

So I'm ending Feb 6lb down which is good news!

Feeling crappy though, think I'm getting another chest infection. Battling on though and not eating junk!

JugglingMummyof2 · 28/02/2018 20:02

Well done Iheart and sorry you are feeling miserable.
I came on to say I am back to 8st 11.6 - back in the zone again - much soup this week. It is only you and me so I feel we have to keep it going so as not to let the other down.
Hope you feel better after a reasonable nights sleep.

IheartCaptainHolt · 28/02/2018 20:29

Well done! I recon we can keep each other going so we don't fall off the wagon.

Onwards and Downwards

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/03/2018 11:25

How are you getting on? I was soooo tempted to eat crap while the snow was here but I resisted! Just been to WI, didn't go last week, lost 4lb over the two weeks so very pleased with that!

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/03/2018 20:16

You are an inspiration Iheart - I was just about to give in and eat a bag of Walkers crisps through greed rather than hunger and saw your post and resisted. 4lbs in two weeks is fab. Weigh in tomorrow - onwards and inwards.

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/03/2018 06:38

A happy 8st 10.8 today. I am pleased with that. 4lbs more and I will be under 8 and a half.

IheartCaptainHolt · 07/03/2018 10:12

Well done! Glad you avoided the crisps. Breaking those habits are hard but worth it.

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/03/2018 08:15

It certainly is worth it - crisps and jam doughnuts are two of my favourite things and I had two of the latter yesterday - fresh baked and still warm with runny jam and a very large, very strong cup of tea - I was powerless against them.
You must be so proud of your efforts Iheart. 6lbs in February when you have already lost so much - You are a star.

IheartCaptainHolt · 09/03/2018 08:30

I love fresh ring donuts smothered in sugar!

I was very pleased with Feb loss, BMI is still 27 though so a way to go yet.

How much till you get to goal? I know it's only us two left but finding the thread really helpful

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/03/2018 20:55

Me too Smile
Goal was 8st 13.999999999 initially but now I think 8st 7 is where I would really like to be. So 3.8lbs or there or thereabouts and if I could maybe lose a little more so I could relax and go up a bit on hols and still be a good weight level I would be delighted. No idea what my BMI is as I am so short. I once worked out how many calories I could eat per day to maintain my weight and it was 1342 at the time. My husband is very tall and thin and can eat over 2000. Gggrrrrrr.

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/03/2018 11:53

Up a smidge to 8st 11.2 - must try harder. Not too disappointed as I know it will get tougher at this point. A few soup lunches I think. How are you doing?

IheartCaptainHolt · 14/03/2018 15:08

First day back at work after mat leave for me today! I've lost 5 stone since DS2 was born so a few people have hardly recognised me which has been lovely!

Moving to an evening weigh in tonight (I used to go to a morning group when on mat leave) so I know I'll be up but my scales at home showed stay the same this week

IheartCaptainHolt · 14/03/2018 15:10

Urgh! Stupid phone posting too early!

My loses are starting to slow down too but we can keep going!

I went out for a night out and didn't get home till 3am (!) last week and had massive roast on Mother's Day so very happy with a stay the same this week.

It'll take me a couple of weeks to adjust to night weigh in but that's ok

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/03/2018 20:17

Well done on surviving your first day back AND staying the same this week. DC wise - is this it for you? Two was always what I wanted and I had a contented feeling of "done ness" when I saw them both together when DD1 was 3.5 and DD2 was 1.
Onwards and inwards for us both.

IheartCaptainHolt · 14/03/2018 21:36

Good god yes two is enough for me! Already given away the stuff DC2 has grown out of, I hung on to almost everything DS1 grew out of so I think
that's enough of a sign for me.

Unwilling to let myself get fat again too!!

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/03/2018 22:52

Ha ha - that was why I was asking!!! I didn't want to say - wonderful to have lost 5 STONE (I'm in awe) once and for all now your family is complete and you say - well actually I'm planning four more.
I can recommend two. Good luck on your second day back.

IheartCaptainHolt · 17/03/2018 18:51

I'm lacking motivation a bit these last few days. Don't think I'll gain but some mindless nibbling has crept in. I've got the implant but I'm unusually spotty and irritable this week so think I must still have hormonal cycles so I'm blaming that!

How are you getting on? Glad to hear you recommend two!

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/03/2018 22:26

I'm doing well despite picking up a snuffle.
Implant as in Mirena? Hope not as I found that a nightmare - broke out in spots, gained weight and lost a massive amount of interest in the reason I had it. When I had it taken out I felt liberated.
You are in a massive adjustment time - a working Mum of two for the first time - two roles that can lead to feeling exhausted so go easy on yourself through the transition. See if you can get out for a walk this weekend to help balance things a bit. Are you taking a lunch to work each day?

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/03/2018 10:43

Not the coil fortunately, it's in my arm.

After moaning yesterday the scales this morning showed 2lb down! 13st 0.5lb so the 12's are tantalisingly close now.

Going for a dog walk in a few mins then got friends with their kids coming round later on so should be a good day.

Hope you get over your cold soon, someone is always ill in our house but that's s little kids for you!

JugglingMummyof2 · 18/03/2018 22:29

I am glad it is that kind of implant.
No-one is usually ill in our house so I am most peeved - sadly someone I share an office with was ill on Monday and Tuesday and appears to have shared his germs. He is a nice chap so I may have to let him live but I was having murderous thoughts when I felt my energy levels plummet on Friday and knew it was coming. I have had to keep away from my family as well so as not to spread it so no cuddles for three days (unknown not to start and end each day with a teen either side for snuggles) and DH has been sent to the spare room.
So pleased about further weight loss - you really are a star Star
