Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

You're doing great @JugglingMummyof2!

This thread dropped off my you are on list and I forgot all about it. I lost my 3.5lb xmas gain first week in Jan and then lost another 3lb last week. I've lost 3st 1lb since starting SW on 19th June and 4st since DS2 was born in May. One or two more stones to go yet though. My target is a bit fluid at the moment.

Can you see a big difference? I still see myself as fat (which I know I am but I don't see 3st difference IYSWIM) but think that's largely due to huge boobs in breastfeeding bras and I still have a fat stomach from two big babies and two c sections (not to mention all the weight I piled on with each pregnancy!)

JugglingMummyof2 · 18/01/2018 19:45

Hello - so good to have company!!!
Well done on your loses - you must be so proud.
I do see a big difference and feel it too in my clothes. I wore my going away outfit from my wedding (20+ years ago...) to my very formal office lunch last week and felt super. The skirt was a little snugger than it was on the day BUT two babies have since had their home under the waistband so I'm fine with that.
Let's keep it going - I feel I may slow down results wise or even stick but I am going to try to stay on track. Onwards and inwardsSmile

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/01/2018 19:59

Onwards and inwards! I love it!

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/01/2018 20:07

And getting into your going away outfit is brilliant progress, well done!

Not disappointed as at least it is going in the right direction - even if just a tiny bit. Onwards and inwards......

IheartCaptainHolt · 24/01/2018 18:48

Any loss is a good loss so keep plugging on, you are doing great.

I put on .5lb this week. I was not happy. But it is the first time (excluding xmas) that I have gained since June. And I know why, been a bit slack this past week and nibbling has crept in. DS2 is also taking to weaning with great enthusiasm so I need to reduce my healthy extras now.

Onwards and downwards to next week!

JugglingMummyof2 · 26/01/2018 08:25

It's not much Iheart and you know the reason why so it will be gone by next week.
How lovely to have a little weaning baby - I think one of the happiest time of my life was when DD1 was 3 and DD2 was 6 months and I could see their relationship developing week by week - I'm feeling nostalgic.....

IheartCaptainHolt · 26/01/2018 20:37

I've been back in the game the last couple of days so hopefully that will be reflected on the scales on Tuesday.

My DS's have the same age gap. DS2 is 8 months and a giant bundle of squish! He is loving food and basically just wants to eat whatever his big brother does.

You are right, it's such a lovely time. I'm an only child and I'm finding it so interesting watching the sibling bond develop. DS1 is very loving towards DS2 and DS2's eyes light up when he sees DS1!

JugglingMummyof2 · 27/01/2018 22:17

OMG as my 13 year old would say..... I'm an only child too and that is exactly how my two were at that age. Now they are teens they are still so close and spend hours together each week. A sibling bond is extra special when you never had it yourself.

JugglingMummyof2 · 31/01/2018 22:36

Week 18: 8st 12.2
At this rate I'll get to 8st 6 by Christmas 2018

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/02/2018 07:41

Good to hear your DDs are still close. DH and his brother have a similar gap and are close too so fingers crossed for mine.

2.5lb off this week, put on .5 last week so glad I've turned it around. Would have been more but DH and I went out alone together for the first time in a year and had a lovely boozey lunch with crisps and chocolate for tea as I couldn't be arsed to cook!

Well done on another loss, the slower it comes off the longer it stays off!

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/02/2018 09:04

Well done Iheart - especially on the spending time with DH and relaxing. It is very important and something we don't do enough in our house and the girls are old enough to be left now - right I am going to book dinner out on the 15th Feb for us right now, Thursdays are 'our' night in theory but it happens less than once a month in practice.
Another 2lbs - how much is that in total now? I am very impressed - even if it is just the two of us on here we'll keep it going.

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/02/2018 10:16

Good idea to book a night out. If you just talk about things it never seems to happen does it.

I've lost 3st 3 since joining SW but I recon it's 4 stone since DS2 was born. Back at work in 4 weeks and want to buy new clothes in a size 14, almost there!

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/02/2018 10:18

Do you think we can keep it going till next xmas??!!

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/02/2018 14:32

Indeed - booked for 8pm on the 15th.
Yes we can keep it going until next Christmas and unless my weight loss speeds up it will take me until then to get there but I am happy to have small losses as long as overall there is a downward trend.
4 stone is amazing - I haven't even managed a stone yet but I will.

IheartCaptainHolt · 02/02/2018 17:41

Oooh you'll have a great night out.

On the one hand I'm very proud of having lost so much. However, I'm a bit ashamed I let myself get so far in the first place. Got another 1.5stone to just scrape into the very top of healthy BMI so I was pretty porky!

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/02/2018 16:32

Week 19: 8st 11.8
Progress..... slow slow progress but I was a bit disorganised this week and there was crusty bread, pate and cheese....

IheartCaptainHolt · 08/02/2018 14:22

Oh god, I miss crusty bread with pate and cheese! Good work on the loss.

I didn't go to weigh in this week as I had the sickness bug. Home scales showed a couple of lbs off though so hopefully all will be well next week

JugglingMummyof2 · 08/02/2018 21:56

Hope you are feeling better now Iheart and well done on losing - even if not the way you would have chosen. We will keep going and we will be tiny by next Christmas.

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/02/2018 10:08

Nearly ashamed to post but here it is....
8st 13.6 - whoops.
What did I eat?? Had pasta last night but still....
It is also half term so not running around so much but still...
Tempted to weigh again tomorrow but will probably wait until next Wednesday.
Hope you are feeling better Iheart

IheartCaptainHolt · 14/02/2018 10:29

In the grand scheme of things it's a small amount. You'll see a good loss next week I'm sure.

I'm all recovered now thanks, lost 1.5lb which would have been improved but I ate junk all weekend and went out out on Saturday night! I stayed at my SIL's so no waking up with the baby and no dealing with children with a hangover! It was bliss!

Have you had your meal out yet?

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/02/2018 15:06

Tomorrow night for our meal.
So lovely to have a childfree night when they are small - really recharges the batteries.
We'll call it a blip!
