Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

1lb off
So 8lbs in total since 28th August when I started. I am pleased with the lost this week but also feel like I had to work pretty hard for it Hmm

twobambinos · 13/10/2017 09:15

Well done Harriet a pound off is better than pound on keep up the good work.
Ate out for two meals yesterday and then dinner was not cooked by me so had no control over the food served. I did make informed decisions though. No soft drinks with the meals out and no deserts or biscuits with tea which I wouldn't have thought twice about usually so I'm happy for the small victories.
Plan to go for a run later, the weather is a bit miserable but I'll do it and feel better for it.

Carriemac · 13/10/2017 11:20

12.12 today so another llb off

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 14/10/2017 10:17

I've been trying hard and keeping up with the exercise (4 gym sessions or classes per week) and have finally seen 11st 6 after weeks of 11st 8. I am back in my smallest jeans though so that's pleased me.

If I can be under 11 for Xmas I'll be pleased. Best I can hope for at this rate!

Well done to those having more success.

randomer · 14/10/2017 15:42

Sorry I think I meant fit bit... The thing you wear round your wrist. Are they any good? Which is best?

IheartCaptainHolt · 17/10/2017 18:30

Another 2lb off so I think that’s 9.5lb since this thread started. Hopefully I’ll have done 1 1/2 stone by the time xmas comes around.

JugglingMummyof2 · 18/10/2017 07:21

Much inspired by christmastree being the same height as I am and 6lbs lighter I have said NO! to seconds and extra slices of cake and had a good week.

Start: 9st 11
Week 1: 9st 9.8
Week 2: 9st 8.4
Week 3: 9st 8
Week 4+1day: 9st 7.6
Week 5: 9st 6

Thank you all for the inspiration. On that note as Snow White's little buddies sung - I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/10/2017 08:26

Good work Juggling

Firefries · 18/10/2017 15:50

Well done everyone. Lots of people going down here.

Me, I'm weighing in again.

week 1: 167.9 lbs
Week 2: 169 lbs
Weeks 3: 169 lbs
Week 4 169 lbs
Week 5: 166.4 lbs
Week 6: 166.4 lbs.

No change, but I haven't gained what was lost so that's good and I'm pleased :). Keep going everyone.

HarrietBasset · 19/10/2017 07:53

Hi everyone

hope everybody is hanging in there.

I've lost another pound this week which I'm pleased about as wasn't particularly strict at the weekend, though I have compensated this week and down to about 1100 calories some days I'm also eating within an 8 hour window which I think has speeded things up a bit and still hacking away at the Couch to 5K!

I go on holiday tonight though and I'm a bit worried about what the week will bring ideally I'd be happy just to maintain so need to make some sensible choices!

Twixes · 19/10/2017 14:11

I know I'm late to the party but could I join?

I actually only need to lose half a stone which means if I lose about one lb a week until christmas I'm well on target. I was posting on another thread but it petered out. I need the accountability!

JugglingMummyof2 · 19/10/2017 14:30

Welcome Twixes
Everyone is doing really well on this thread and I found myself saying no to extra cake last week as I knew Wednesday morning I would have to post my result. I never say no to extra anything normally....
Good luck

IheartCaptainHolt · 19/10/2017 15:12

Hi Twixes

I don’t post very often but I’m always on plan these days.
Good luck with your weight loss

OuchBollocks · 19/10/2017 16:17

Hello all, I had dropped off this thread but I am (surprisingly!) 5lbs down since it started. I doubt I'll shift 9lbs before Christmas but I'm still on plan with 5:2 and no sugar, so hopefully I'll be near enough there.

Some fantastic losses here :)

Twixes · 19/10/2017 22:30

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Day 1 was so-so for me. Slightly over my calories for the day but it's a good start. I always use Fridays as my weigh in and I'm hoping I'm the same as I was last week.

Another 1.5lb so that’s 11lb since the thread started ( I think)

Firefries · 24/10/2017 17:15

Weighing in again here. I'm officially on week 7 now, and I've dropped a pound this week and gone from to 166.4 to 165.3. Im finally going in the right direction. I've only lost about 2 and 1/2 pounds in total. It's been so slow here but worth it. All I can say to anyone else is keep going. Dont give up. It will begin to happen for you.

JugglingMummyof2 · 25/10/2017 10:16

Well done Firefries and I hope things are going well Twixes and my Wednesday weighing buddies. No change for me and it now half term and we are going away so I suspect next week will not show a loss either.

Start: 9st 11
Week 1: 9st 9.8
Week 2: 9st 8.4
Week 3: 9st 8
Week 4+1day: 9st 7.6
Week 5: 9st 6
Week 6: 9st 6

HarrietBasset · 25/10/2017 14:30

I'm on holiday abroad and too scared to weigh! I've ran 3 x but eaten out lots and far too much bread. Home tomorrow so back on plan. Might weigh in on Monday to give me a few days to catch up!

OhGood · 25/10/2017 15:31

Can I join, please? Weighing in at 90kg today. Using MFP and doing at least an hour of exercise 5 times a week. Slow and steady...

JugglingMummyof2 · 25/10/2017 15:46

Welcome OhGood ( even though it is not my thread )
Great support on here for everyone.

OhGood · 27/10/2017 10:23

Thank you, JugglingMummy

twinkledag · 27/10/2017 14:19

I said i'd be back when the scales start moving again! Lost another 1lb :)

Firefries · 27/10/2017 17:38

Well done Juggling, Ouch, Iheart and Twinkle. Welcome Ohgood and Twixes and enjoy the holiday Harriet. I hope I got most people in. Thinking of you all. This thread is really keeping me going, just hearing everyone's successes, starts and trials. How long till Christmas? I think this was only up to early December (I could be wrong) so only a month to go soon .. oh and where is the OP. How are you doing? We would still love to hear from you. I want to say thanks to you for the thread.
