Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

Hi joining today, late but I think I can start tomorrow & make a good attempt at this 😳

Heading away with work for the week so I'll be self catering which should be ok during the day... not so sure about dinner!

A week away from the office should be a good time to start as it's full of sweets/buns/pastries etc all we do is talk about food all day long.

tiggersdontlikehoney · 30/09/2017 23:29

Today:

10 st 12 lbs (target 10 st by Christmas, 8 stone within a year after that)

Breakfast: Shreddies 40g, soya milk, fresh coffee, 50ml whole milk
During the day: 4 wholemeal crusty rolls, pack of love hearts
Dinner: 13 Ikea meatballs, half can baked beans, 2 small petit filous
Eve: 2 bottles pale ale

Total: about 2,000

Have limited the junk food today, but need to get on top of eating regular, healthy meals and not just random stuff, kids food, junk.

1st October tomorrow, 3 months to the end of the year.

angelsnapper · 30/09/2017 23:43

I would like to join. 10st 7lbs and have really been struggling with my weight esp since stopping smoking. Feeling awful :(

Sodaface · 01/10/2017 12:04

Today I start at 12.1 my heaviest yet 😭

B:weetabix & banana
L:cold meats & cheese
D: lasagne

Tomorrow am of to a week long conference/business thing & cant find a gym anywhere near the crappy hotel they've put us in!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 01/10/2017 17:51

Week 1 - 173 lbs
Week 2 - 170.6 lbs
Week 3 - 168.8 lbs
Week 4 - 168 lbs
Week 5 - 167.6lbs

Teeniest of tiniest losses for me Sad
Although if I had put on weight I'd be even more annoyed!

I'm trying hard to think like a thin(ner) person. I was at an event with a buffet this weekend - usually I'd have piled my plate high and had seconds but I chose carefully and even though I could have eaten more didn't.
But it's hard - and then to lose so little...

tiggersdontlikehoney · 01/10/2017 18:21

B: 50g Shreddies, whole milk
L: 3 slices white bread, flora, cheddar, malt loaf, satsuma, ice cream
D: Spaghetti, beef/veg bolognese, 6 frubes, 3 fruit windy wheel things

:(

Over 2,000 again. Sigh. And less than 3,000 steps despite FEELING on my feet all day around the house.

Going to take a long walk this eve, at least top 10,000 steps. Then start again tomorrow.

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 01/10/2017 19:11

My fitness pal is pissing me off. Cos I'm mostly low carbing and doing quite a lot of exercise it keeps telling me I haven't eaten enough and refusing to accept the logged food for that day. I think it wants me to mug a passerby for their happy meal or summat. It also thinks I'll be 10st 3 in 5 weeks. Being as it's taken 3 to lose 3lbs, I think that's unlikely!

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 01/10/2017 19:16

I'm also still having to focus on the changes I can see to my body rather than the number on the scales. I am trimmer and stronger, and my fitness is improving (3 miles in a shade under 31 mins today, and running felt more comfortable than it has for a long time ).

If I have a bad meal or greedy snack I now remember this mantra: if I had got sunburnt, I wouldn't then think - ooh I've ruined it, might as well slather olive oil on myself and sit in full sun. So why do it with food? Helps me, might help some of you?

hurrythefuckupgeorge · 01/10/2017 19:27

Thanks Keira, that is a good way to think about it. That is definitely something I struggle with, hence weighing 13st! Feeling quite proud of myself because I have managed to keep myself in check this weekend which is unheard of for me, weekends are usually a bingefest.

Well done Tarquin, a loss is a loss but I am sorry it isn't as fast as you would like. Keep going!

I am weighing in tomorrow and hoping for at least 2lbs. I am away for 3 nights at a work event in a rural hotel so very restricted to whatever we are provided. I need to make good choices and be sensible with portions if I am going to stay on track.

Sodaface · 02/10/2017 09:30

Day 2 & 1lb down. Am off to a work conference today, hate the thought of it!

However it might be good for the diet.

tiggersdontlikehoney · 02/10/2017 09:32

Keira I had never thought of it quite that way before, thanks Grin

Walked for 1.5 hours last night and woke up with good intentions today. Am setting an alarm on my phone to eat something small (100 cals) every 3 hours - just experimenting with what works. The thinking here is if I never get really hungry, I won't be reaching for the junk.

Good luck everyone x

hurrythefuckupgeorge · 02/10/2017 10:55

Starting weight - 13st 3lb
Week 1 - 13.02lb

Feeling please with that and a good motivator for being away with work and little control over choices.

Good luck with your conference Soda! I feel your pain

tiggersdontlikehoney · 02/10/2017 20:05

B: coffee w/whitener
L: wholemeal roll, 2 slices white bread w/flora, 3 malt loaf minis
D: very large sweet potato about 600g + extra virgin olive oil (oven baked chips), 2 large mangos
Drinks: few cups tea w/whitener

About 1800 cals.

Very little movement, been sat down all day and only 3,000 steps. Am aiming to do the 1.5 walk at least once every 2 days and it burns about 650 calories a time, though.

Christmastree43 · 03/10/2017 08:34

I’m loving this idea. Weekly weigh ins are really good for me - as it’s a short term target it’s much easier to say ‘just wait til Wednesday’ 😬

I have really struggled to shift that last half a stone for about a year now so am feeling positive with the past fortnights figures:

Week 1 (start weight): 9:9
Week 2: 9:7.8
Week 3: will let you know tomorrow!

Good luck all Tuesday/ Wednesday weighers Smile

Appaloosajunction · 03/10/2017 10:09

Hi
Can I jump in this thread?
Am a bit of a diet thread hoor as I need all the help I can get. Haha.
5’1” and 164 lbs. Grim.
I’ve just come off a 4 day binge during which I’ve piled on 3lbs which I had previously lost by calorie counting.
Why do I do this to myself? I just seem to get get lost in the moment and the future disappears...until I have to get back on the scales...Help!

Firefries · 03/10/2017 15:43

week 1 (I was doing this Fira couple of weeks already): 167.9 lbs
Week 2: 169 lbs
Weeks 3: 169 lbs
Week 4 169 lbs.
still no change!
I'm on 1400 calls per day (MFP) doing 20-25 min run 4-5 times a week (I started couch to 5k back in August) and still no weight loss on the scales.
However my waist is back, clothes fit me better, and my belly is going down. I'd love to see change on the scales so I'm keeping on going. I want to lose a stone by Christmas. Good luck to you all and a big congrats to those losing, and to those who just keep going. We will get there.

Christmastree43 · 04/10/2017 06:27

Wednesday weigh in:

Week 1 (start weight): 9:9
Week 2: 9:7.8
Week 3: 9:4 Shock

Am sure my scales must be malfunctioning although I did check about four times! To be fair that is probably my weight before two all inclusive holidays in Aug and Sep so am probably back to my usual square one so to speak. Good luck any Wednesday weighers! Flowers

JugglingMummyof2 · 04/10/2017 07:17

A fellow Wednesday weigher here Christmastree43

Start: 9st 11
Week 1: 9st 9.8
Week 2: 9st 8.4
Week 3: 9st 8

A whole 0.4 of a lb - going in the right direction anyway....
Well done christmastree.
Onwards and inwards.

martellandginger · 04/10/2017 17:52

Hurry, It's using 3/4 spray of low cal oil, get it hot and put egg in. Just like a fried egg without the grease.

martellandginger · 04/10/2017 17:55

Fire fries have you considered going down to 1200 for mon-fri? might kickstart weight loss OR doing 5:2 or 6:1 kind of thing? I personally don't think its sustainable but it can work if you have a highly motivated day where you eat just 850 cals or so then usual diet cals the next.

Firefries · 05/10/2017 05:09

Thanks martellandginger. I'll go down to 1200 and try 6:1. I'll report back how it goes (fingers crossed).

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 05/10/2017 07:03

11st7.4 yesterday. That's about 2.5 lbs down in 3 weeks. Disappointing but keeping on.

HarrietBasset · 05/10/2017 07:53

Maintained this week which is frustrating but not entirely surprising as had a few slip ups though i was really hoping those that the extra exercise would counterbalance it. I'm 6lbs down since starting 7 weeks ago but it does feel incredibly slow.....

ravenclawchick · 05/10/2017 08:00

I'm in. I'm on slimming world and am buying a 12 week countdown next Wednesday (my weigh in day). I'm currently 11st 3lb, having already lost 8.5lb on SW and I'm also 5ft 4" so need to shift this weight!
Grin

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 05/10/2017 08:06

Can I join please?

5’3 and 14.8 stone. I keep starting but I’ve lost motivation.

B: skyr with blueberries, blackberries, pomegranate seeds and granola
L: crispbread with peppers and homous. And Higgidy pie cheese roll x 2.
