Well done people for getting thinner!

Day four for me, it seems a lot longer. I'm hungry, tired, zero energy and a miserable bitch but on the plus side I do not feel as bloated and annoyed at myself for eating loads of chocolate.

I can't wait until weigh day which is Saturday for me.

Starting weight 10' 9.5lbs

Goal weight 9 stone

Sparrowlegs248 · 22/08/2017 16:08

I did a stats list earlier but it didn't bloody post. Will try again later.

I'm feeling the hunger today, not sure I'm eating enough to keep up with breastfeedethis giant baby.

RachelP247 · 22/08/2017 16:28

Top tips for weightloss - I lost 3 stone in 12 weeks last year (I'm pregnant now so not doing weightloss but will be back on it when she's born!) - Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, aim for 3 litres a day, eat small meals but regularly (say 4 or 3 times a day, brekkie, snack, lunch, snack, dinner) and defo DON'T skip breakfast. Try cutting out wheat/gluten - you'll be amazed at how much less bloated you feel and you won't miss bread I promise!

Try not eat "low fat" things - they are full of sugar alternatives, additives and sweeteners which actually sometimes have the opposite effect of weightloss. Look up paleo diet and just try and eat as fresh as you can, not processed foods, no fizzy drinks and swap your caffeine from coffee to green tea. I actually look and feel 100 times better at 6 months pregnant than I do before I started on my weightloss journey!

Hope that helps - good luck ladies! xx

theancientmarinader · 22/08/2017 17:34

Just wanted to five a shout out to giant baby feeders - ds1 was over 16lbs at 10 weeks ebf, and my body would not allow me any possibility of losing weight. He was feeding every 2 hours day and night, and my body was essentially hoarding energy to be able to keep up. None of those myths about breastfeeding being a good way to lose weight applied to me (and believe me they should have). I wasn't able to really lose anything until I stopped bf when he was 10 mos - then it all literally melted away. It was almost as if my body knew it didn't need to keep reserving the energy any more. I know that sounds like utterly unscientific tosh, but I swear that my metabolism changed to help me keep up with his milk demands.

Sparrowlegs248 · 22/08/2017 17:39

Ds was 10lb 13.5 at birth. God only knows what he is now at 6 months!! I put weight on when I was bf Ds1 as well. Ds1 is 2 now, Ds2 is 6 months, it's time to shed some fat.
I think I need to rethink the diet though as have been very hungry today. Bur then I was really prepared, so should be better after I've been shopping.

Re snacks, what are you all snacking on? I'm.going to boil some eggs I think. Ryvita too.

AIMGA · 22/08/2017 19:38

DS is 10 months old and massive Grin he doesn't really eat solids and is a bottle refuser...so pretty much ebf. I don't limit food as it makes me feel really unwell but make sure I'm not just grazing/snacking out of boredom etc. I also don't eat after 6pm..
I snack on ham, dates & bananas.

Sparrowlegs248 · 22/08/2017 19:41

Not eating after 6pm would certainly make me lose weight! I've just put the toddler to bed and going down to cook dinner in a minute, this is quite early!

Ds1 was a bottle refused, Ds2 had his first bottle at about 5 days old. I was determined that I'd be able to leave him if I wanted/needed (I was hospitalized when Ds1 was 7 months old and given anti sickness mess, couldn't bf fir 48 hours, poor baby.). Not that I have yet but it's nice that someone else can feed him for me. Though expressing is a pita.

d270r0 · 22/08/2017 22:22

I don't eat after 6pm either, or before 10am. Unless its a special occasion and I 'have' to. Then I adjust my hours the next day so I eat during fewer hours to make up for it. I've being doing this since start of May, don't find it difficult at all as it fits in with my life very easily, and have found myself slowly losing weight without having to try too hard. I think it just limits my calorie intake enough so that on those bad days when you just scoff everything in sight, I don't put on too much.

Well it almost worked. Those who haven't weighed in yet have got an odd symbol that didn't work. I'll update as and when people post their weekly weigh in. Or else feel free to cope and update yourself.

Sparrowlegs248 · 22/08/2017 22:48

That's starting weight, goal, current weeks loss, total loss.

wantawaistagain · 22/08/2017 23:19

Starting Weight: 144lb
Goal Weight: 133lb
Loss this week: 0lb

Not great but children here aren't back to school until next week so I'm not in any routine at all. I did a bit of walking, pilates and hula hooping-not enough to lose any weight unfortunately but hopefully enough that my body won't go into shock when I start for real next week.

theancientmarinader · 23/08/2017 03:40

Eating habits going okay here, but no effort towards exercise. Kids go back to school a week on Thursday (and we are dropping dd1 off at uni for the first time a week on Friday, eek) so I figure if I can establish good eating habits in the meantime, I can ramp up the exercise once the new normal settles in.

Ds1 was a bottle refuser. He had RSV and double pneumonia at 11 weeks and was being nebulised five times a day - from that point he wouldn't have anything plastic next to his face. It was... Interesting. He nearly broke the HV who claimed she would be able to get some milk into him if I left him with her for a couple of hours. I left her with 8oz of ebm and when I came back they were both bright red, sweaty, teary and desperately unhappy. She claimed she had managed to get half an oz into him with a teaspoon. Judging by the fact they were both sodden, I didn't like to judge how much had actually made it into his mouth. I had to tip the rest away, obvs. She didn't offer again. I'm sure she thought I was just being weak...

Great job notta! I'm going to weigh on Mondays I think - that might keep me on the straight and narrow over weekends!!

theancientmarinader · 23/08/2017 03:42

Does anyone use chia seeds or hemp or flax or anything on salads/ breakfast? My SIL swears by adding a sprinkling of that kind of thing to make salads more interesting, but I'm a pretty rubbish hippy. Any ideas?

AIMGA · 23/08/2017 07:06

I have chia pudding for breakfast sometimes ancient it is lovely and v filling.

Weigh in this morning...
SW 9.5.5
GW 8.7
Lost 1.5

I am pleased with that, but know I need to up my effort as i haven't really gone hungry/without 'treats' this week. Think I might start posting a food diary on here as I can't get MFP to work!

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 23/08/2017 07:39

Ugh ancient that must have been awful! My mum was the same, convinced ds would take milk from her, he wouldn't. I think the recommendation to not start with a bottle til 6 weeks is the problem. If bf is going well, the sooner the better imo, if you want success! Also, that feeling of pouring ebm away. I struggle to express so it was heartbreaking!

Well done Aimga, off to a good start!

Well, I weighed at hone this morning, Wednesday is my preferred day, and my scales say I've put 2.5 lb on. Given that I have eaten far less than usual, with much better choices, no chocolate (was having at least one a day and often more) no fast food (was going through the drive through several times a week) I'm.pretty sure this is down to my scales. I will have a look for some more when I got into town later, and maybe weigh at my mums once a week if I can't get any.

Feeling a bit disappointed but I know I feel better already.

I.like pomegranate on salad.

AIMGA · 23/08/2017 08:34

Yes don't be too disappointed notta , if your body is used to a lot of take away food and you have suddenly cut that out you could also be retaining water.

Have you tried taking photos of yourself as a gauge? I know a pp does that instead of weighing?

Well done on cutting out the choc and drive through Brew. I need to cut out brownies this week (my weakness)...wish DH would stop buying them for himself as then there would be no temptation!

OP posts:
NaughtyElephants · 23/08/2017 08:52

Don't be disheartened Notta I think simply being a woman makes fluctuation really common with water retention etc so you might have lost fat but can't see the number just yet because of that.

Keep going, it's a marathon not a sprint - most frustrating sentence ever but unfortunately true for those of us wanting to lose some weight for life not just to fit in a dress for one night only.

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/08/2017 09:12

Thanks both, I'd developed a bad drive through habit when pregnant, McDonald's breakfast stopped me feeling sick bizarrely! But carried it on for ease of eating with two little ones. Very bad.

I feelbetter so that's the main thing. Two of the feet on my scales are broken so that's probably not helping.

I've loads of clothes that are too small so that's a good Guage. Not keen on the pics, sat on the bed drying my hair yesterday and caught sight of myself on the mirror. Faded nursing bra, jeans too tight over my tummy and massive pants sticking our over the top. Not to mention the blubber.

I have a dress I bought last Christmas in the sale. Size 16 which is my normal size for dresses from there, even when I weighed more! Its a denim one with print on and buttons right down the front. Only when I tried it on, the gaps between the buttons were huge over my boobs and tummy, so you could see my bra and belly!
Anyway I tried it on yesterday just to see, as I have lost a lot since then. There are still slight gaps over boobs and tummy but barely- so I reckon if I just lose another half a stone or so it will fit nicely. So thats my short term aim! Would love to be able to wear my dress this autumn/winter.

starlight36 · 23/08/2017 10:38

Sorry late stats for me.
