Desperately seeking support..... 3 stone to lose. Who's with me?!

OK. This is ridiculous now.

I am a good three stone overweight. I can no longer call it baby weight because:

a) DD is now three years old.
b) I'm heavier than I was before, during or after my pregnancy.

I am unhappy. I look gross, and I feel like I am being held hostage inside my own body. I don't feel in any way attractive - in fact, I'm embarrassed by how I look and what I have done to myself. I hate the nursery run, as all the other mums are slim and healthy (even the ones who have tiny babies!).

It's impacting on my sex life with DH, on my energy to do anything (not doing any hobbies any more, house is a mess, tend to just hang around the house with DD) and on my enjoyment of life. I spend far too much money on food, which is impacting on our plans for the future (how fucking sad is that?).

I eat and drink too much, and move too little. It is that simple.

So, my life will be in calories in vs. calories out.

1100 cals per day, with most of them coming from protein and good fats. Limit carbs as I'm a carb monster and they don't fill me up.

Exercise - we have a rowing machine and a cross trainer in the garage, a really decent local swimming pool and bloody miles of fabulous countryside around us. I have no excuse not to do some form of exercise everyday, other than utter laziness.

Oh, and steps. I have a fitbit. It appears that since about this time last year, my daily average steps have halved, to less than 5000 per day. No fucking wonder I'm fat, eh? So those are going back up, even if I have to march on the sodding spot before bed.

I am happier when I consume less. I know this. I am happier when I feel healthy, when I feel good in my skin, I know this too. SO WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SO HARD???

Anyone who wants to join me in cheering the good days, gently querying the bad days, having a good old moan together instead of turning to chocolate and gin (and cake and bread and crisps and cheese and wine and beer and, quite frankly, whatever I can find in the cupboards) then please do. Otherwise, I am going to use this to offload on each and every day. To record my progress (cos there will be progress this time) and to show that I can do this. I can.

If I get brave, I might even upload photos.

Also - try weighing more often than once a week and use the app Happy Scale if you have an iPhone.

Weight fluctuates too much for weekly weigh ins to be accurate and it can be really demotivating seeing you're up a couple lbs when it might just be water weight!

Chosenbyyou · 10/08/2017 16:18

Pip girl - this is probably me as well! Have been doing well for over a month but have just lost a bit of motivation today :( am quite tired and feel like no energy.

Got a gym class tonight so need to motivate but it's just feeling a bit boring today and really craving some bad food as a pick me up :(

How is everyone else doing?

userofthiswebsite · 10/08/2017 16:25

Well I'm hungry :-)

In fact I think the best way to figure out whether you are losing, or just falling prey to the fluctuations that come with both hydration levels and hormones, is measurements but it's pretty much impossible to ensure that you're holding the tape measure more or less tightly than last time and if it's crooked it'll mess it up to so I think the best way to know is that clothes start to feel less tight and I've things that I'm too podgy for at the mo but the more easily I can get into them the better I'm doing.

I do still look at the scales but know it can be misleading a lot.

Had PT session yesterday and am aching from using different muscles.

Might have early dinner.. like 5pm :-)

Joining this. Im now 13 stone, the biggest ive ever been. I have just turned 29 and want to lose 3 stone by the time im 30. Started 30 day shred today and am sticking to 1200 calories a day. Hardest thing for me is losing weight whilst working nights but hopefully starting a new job in a couple of weeks!

Would love to blame my DD but she's 7 and a half now and i weigh more than when i was pregnant 😦

Marmalady75 · 11/08/2017 14:41

I was reading this thread last night and thought about joining. Now I've made the decision to go for it. I have 2st 10lbs to lose to take me back to pre-baby weight. I know it's a case of less calories in and more calories burned. I've big chunks of weight before so I know I can do it, but I find it harder the older I get. My ds is 2 and I'm finding it so tiring keeping up with him. I need to shift the weight and get back to being fit (before I had him I was at the gym at 6.30am 4 days a week). I can't face the gym with all the mirrors and skinny young girls. I've joined a netball group and joined this thread so I've taken the first steps. Hopefully we can all motivate each other. Smile

diane380, you lost 2 stone in a fortnight? So 2lbs a day. Ahem, are you quite sure?

userofthiswebsite · 11/08/2017 23:25

Hmm, glad someone else viewed that post with scepicism. 5lbs in a fortnight, maybe if one has worked hard. 2 stone nuh uh.

I sense diane380 wanted us to ask what this special system was so we can also benefit. I wonder how much that'll cost us...

;-)

GammaDelta · 12/08/2017 00:27

Marmalady75 · 12/08/2017 08:18

diane380 wow that is soooo amazing! I really think you should write a book and make a fortune!!!

lucy2204 · 12/08/2017 14:05

has anyone lost any weight on the Apple cider vinegar yet?, I've been on it 4 days and haven't lost a thing :|

CherokeeJack · 12/08/2017 14:47

Is it too late to join?

FoxyLoxy22 · 12/08/2017 20:53

lucy I've been having apple cider vinegar and will weigh myself tomorrow and let you know.
Cherokee It's never too late to join. I started dieting this week and will be here for a while!

kally195 · 13/08/2017 07:14

Helloooooo!!! New phone, horrid run of shifts over, a month off work and the scales tell me I'm 1.8lbs down. Which isn't great, but it's something.

So I figure I can use the next month to instill some proper eating/drinking/exercising habits. I've got no excuse (work/tiredness etc).

Big wave to all. Rowing machine is calling...

Oh and needless to say that I have not been great. Better, but not great.

I also reported the incredibly lazy attempt at spam.

lunaysol3828 · 13/08/2017 07:25

OP, I love your attitude towards this as it's like: i have a problem, how can I fix it? I can do this this this and that. I need to borrow your approach!

I need to lose a stone myself ASAP. What I do
-Cut sugar & alcohol COMPLETELY
-Low carb high protein
-HIIT training three times a week
-A lot of complaining
-water water water

Best of luck!

Finola1step · 13/08/2017 16:28

Afternoon all. Got back last night after a mini break to London with the dc to see the Athletics and do some touristy stuff. Was v hard to stay on track. Really hard. I admit I did slip off the wagon a couple of times. It is amazing how a massive sporting arena hosting the World Athletics Championships was simply awash with junk food. Oh well, here's hoping that all the walking has offset the chip intake.

How is everyone else doing?

Lubilu28 · 13/08/2017 17:56

Had a fall last night and drank the best part of a bottle of wine 😳!!

I have the in laws round for dinner and it's roast beef and I have just created the biggest Yorkshire puddings you've ever seen 😂 I wasn't gonna have 1 but I do have enough calories left so I might just have too!!

Gonna weigh myself on Wednesday so I have another 2 days to be extremely good!!

Gonna start swimming again on Tuesday morning and starting the workout dvds tomorrow! X

Princessbubbles · 13/08/2017 18:31

Evening all. Had a few treats this weekend but been really active. Yesterday and today did a 10,000 step dog walk and have been gardening most the weekend. Weigh in on Tuesday so we'll see if the hard work has paid off. Hope everyone has a good week.

fialor · 13/08/2017 23:47

Can I join?
I need to lose 3 stone, and a bit!
4 would be perfect but really need to lose 3 to feel sexy or fabulous in myself.
I have dresses that looked amazing on me before I had my DD but I now look awful, bloated, fill in the blanks. She is now 3.

I somehow lose the motivation after a couple of weeks on a diet, and have tried various things. Nothing seems able to sustain my desire; my desire for good food far outweighs any concerns I have about weight/it's loss in the moment.

Help! How do I stick to a diet?

lucy2204 · 14/08/2017 09:07

Try apple cider vinegar from Holland and Barratt!, drink it one hour before each it'll fill you up so you can have smaller potions, doesn't taste nice ill admit 😩but if it works then something you have to put up with 😊hah I was the exact sam as you I was on a diet for 2 and half months decided to have a slip up and everything went down hill from there had my son 16 months ago and fill fat and horrible, :( i was tiny before so fill massive now xx

lucy2204 · 14/08/2017 09:09

same*

Lubilu28 · 14/08/2017 10:12

lucy does the apple cider vinegar really work?? I always thought that green tea was great for weight loss but after some research apparently not (not a lot of evidence in human consumption)!! But I'm not sure wether the green tea extract tablets would be better as it's a higher concentrate than in the tea! There on the penny sale in holland and Barrett and if the apple cider vinegar is too it might be worth trying!!

Marmalady75 · 14/08/2017 10:29

My sil is a dietitian and she says you get the same effect from drinking a pint of water 20-30 minutes before you eat.
