Desperately seeking support..... 3 stone to lose. Who's with me?!

kally195 · 02/08/2017 16:44

OK. This is ridiculous now.

I am a good three stone overweight. I can no longer call it baby weight because:

a) DD is now three years old.
b) I'm heavier than I was before, during or after my pregnancy.

I am unhappy. I look gross, and I feel like I am being held hostage inside my own body. I don't feel in any way attractive - in fact, I'm embarrassed by how I look and what I have done to myself. I hate the nursery run, as all the other mums are slim and healthy (even the ones who have tiny babies!).

It's impacting on my sex life with DH, on my energy to do anything (not doing any hobbies any more, house is a mess, tend to just hang around the house with DD) and on my enjoyment of life. I spend far too much money on food, which is impacting on our plans for the future (how fucking sad is that?).

I eat and drink too much, and move too little. It is that simple.

So, my life will be in calories in vs. calories out.

1100 cals per day, with most of them coming from protein and good fats. Limit carbs as I'm a carb monster and they don't fill me up.

Exercise - we have a rowing machine and a cross trainer in the garage, a really decent local swimming pool and bloody miles of fabulous countryside around us. I have no excuse not to do some form of exercise everyday, other than utter laziness.

Oh, and steps. I have a fitbit. It appears that since about this time last year, my daily average steps have halved, to less than 5000 per day. No fucking wonder I'm fat, eh? So those are going back up, even if I have to march on the sodding spot before bed.

I am happier when I consume less. I know this. I am happier when I feel healthy, when I feel good in my skin, I know this too. SO WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SO HARD???

Anyone who wants to join me in cheering the good days, gently querying the bad days, having a good old moan together instead of turning to chocolate and gin (and cake and bread and crisps and cheese and wine and beer and, quite frankly, whatever I can find in the cupboards) then please do. Otherwise, I am going to use this to offload on each and every day. To record my progress (cos there will be progress this time) and to show that I can do this. I can.

If I get brave, I might even upload photos.

Hi FMT

Sorry for your losses that must be very hard.

Sounds like you have tried several diets - are you going to do calories? I haven't tried any strutted diets and am just reducing snacks and carbs. I seem to eat salads twice a day but not sure if that is really that good!

I have joined the gym which is the closest to my house but not technically the best one. Have been doing a few classes a week for three weeks. Is there a gym closer to you?

How is it going today all??

X

...and so sorry that you have had a difficult time FMT, I feel a bit rubbish now about my post. I have no excuse for my comfort eating, just lack of control.

So today was a pretty good day for me. I think mostly because I felt awful after yesterday's binge on cake, a curry, and a pub lasagne and chips! Plus booze. Awful. Today I've had fruit and Skyr, microwave so say low cal meal from m & s, 2 x 2 finger kit kats (I know but 2 mini kit Kats is not a lot of bad food compared to normal days!). And an omelette and salad. Husband working all day... I'm home on own, bored. I'd normally eat loads of crisps, and buy cakes to eat that he wouldn't know about and lounge around.
Will we weigh ourselves the same day girls?
I'm going to try just cutting down or cutting out as much bad food and trying to eat more nutritious food and no booze xx

Sign me up! 5ft 3" age 44 & weigh 11st 8lb.

Ideally like to lose 2st but 2.5 would be a bonus, getting married next year and the dress I've bought would look great on a slimmer me. I've started Jillian Michaels DVDs again & batch cook everything to stop myself ordering takeout when I can't be bothered to cook.

So far lost 2lbs the same 2lbs I gained the previous week after 2 takeouts a trip to the pub & a tub of Haagen Dazs all to myself. I've got a Fitbit and average 5.5k steps a day which is rubbish, also signed up to MFP. I'm on RH Fitness on FB & the advice is to weigh every day rather than once a week as weight fluctuates daily & it's disheartening to see no change each 7 days. But the likelihood is on another day you'll have lost some fat. Makes sense but could get a bit obsessive?

Along with the takeouts I crave something sweet after dinner, I can't not have a pudding Cake

I'm off work until September now so no excuses to pick at the office treats!

To the person who was tempted by some brownie bake, what I did the other day to stop myself eating something I shouldn't was grab it open in the bin and chuck it in. It's too disgusting to eat things that have been in bin so saved myself calories. Once you get rid of the last yummy things, next time at the supermarket, don't buy any yummy things so there's nothing there to sabotage you.

I joined one of these diet threads about 3 months ago, but then forgot about the diet about two weeks in and Haagen Daaz ice cream made me add on about half a stone :-)

So the Monday before last I put myself back into weight loss mode. I have started eating carrot instead of cake and blueberries instead of chocolate bars. I've had a few small blips but generally doing ok.

Am gymming as well and just signed up for some PT sessions.

I'm hoping to lose 1 to 1.5 stone.

can I join this too?? please. Reading your posts sort of encourgages me, but then my little voice tells me not to be so stupid as I have much more to lose than any of you MN's above me here - I have just keyed in my hugeness to Google & am 15st10 lbs. I swore never to be as big as my overweight Mum & I am much larger than her now.
I too have a fit, ourtdoorsy DH who seems to eat whatever & loses weight; I have an office job, but snack & sneak food, which has obviously caught up with me. And here I sit in front of my computer again. Tomorrow - Monday, here goes!! :)

Today, I am having the Period From Hell. Normally fine, but then once in a while I get one which knocks me for six.

Hence today, I badly want to EAT ALL THE THINGS.

But instead I've been a busy bee, including packing up lunch and walking to the park with DD for a picnic. It's a big park, so lots of running around with her.

I have a feeling there may be some cider later though.

So Day 6 today and all going quite well I think. Am logging everything on MFP. Sticking to 3 meals a day with no snacking. Cravings ok.

But there is a challenge on the horizon. We are off shortly for a quick trip to the beach. DH has suggested a quick chippie tea on the way home. I doubt they do a grilled salmon salad with the dressing on the side. Will power will be severely required.

This is my danger zone because the little voice in my head will say "But you've had 6 good days, where's the harm?"

Will report back this evening.

Had my measure in today and have lost 2 inches from hips and 1/2 from waist. Really happy with that for the first week. Ideally want to get to a size 12 I'm an 18 atm.
My diet consists of overnight night oats fro breakfast, fruit and veg smoothie for lunch, then the family meal for tea which can be anything, I just try adding in health alternatives, like using passanta instead of a jar pasta sauce.
Keep up the good work ladies were all here for the same reason

Last Sunday I was 11st 10 & full of Haagen Dazs this Sunday I'm 11st 7, I think some of it was down to my period but it's very motivating to see the numbers coming down.

I discovered 2 egg, 1 banana, 2tbsp oat bran pancakes & they're great for breakfasts or reheated at work. Overnight oats are another winner but not so filling.

Has anyone else found anything good?

Refilona · 06/08/2017 17:07

I made a banana loaf today and had loads already. I find it very difficult because dh eats a lot although he is very slim. I tend to eat as much as he does and I've been gaining weight over the years... He buys a lot of rubbish at the shop too (crisps, chocolate, etc). Very frustrating because I end up always treating myself with shit that's around the house.
Other than the banana bread I've been quite good!

Can I join please? I'm age 45, 5ft 4in and weigh 12st 1lb. I've being dieting since January and have only managed to lose 7lb. I was hoping to be 11st by the time I go on holiday in 4wks and ideally I'd like to eventually get to 10 and a half stone.
I just keep losing motivation and have no willpower.
Went out for a family birthday meal today and caught a glimpse of myself in the toilet mirror. I look hideous! There was a group of women there who looked amazing and I felt a fat frumpy blob!
I want to feel good about myself and like what I see in the mirror.
I've also been given a huge box of Hotel chocolates which keep begging me to open them!
PLAN
Eating- 3 healthy meals a day for 4 days if the week. 2 fast days of 500cals. One day off (but not go mad)
Exercise - 3 days that I work a week will walk the dog for 30mins. Rest of the days will do longer walks, minimum 10,000 steps. Will use a tracker. Swim for 1 hour once a week.
I will weigh in on a Tuesday as very accurate scales at work.
Good luck everyone and I'm looking forward to the support and giving it Smile

Hi Refilona. Good luck to you as well. I know what you mean about those who can eat lots and not put on weight. Both my sons are really slim and eat huge amounts of rubbish. I thought they would put on weight as they got older but now aged 17 & 24 and still slim. Very frustrating when they can eat what they want and I have to constantly watch what I eat.

Hi. I'm 5'6" and 13 stone. I need to get under 11, preferably 10 and a half........in my dreams. I went to the track today and did 5 laps speed walking and a bit of a jog so feeling pretty proud of myself for actually getting off my backside.

Evening all! Checking in after our late trip to the coast...and the chip shop! I was right, no healthy option available so yes, I went for cod and chips. But, I ate mostly fish and just a bit of the batter. And only half the chips and still fill really full. Oh, and no pudding. So all in all, not bad. Not great, but not bad.

Haven't actually discussed with DH my healthy eating kick. I think it is because DH is very supportive and will get behind me 100% which actually may put extra pressure on iyswim. I am 4 stone heavier than when we met 21 years ago and 3 stone heavier than on our wedding day 11 years ago. I can honestly say that in all that time, he has never commented on my weight. Will mention to him tomorrow about how I am "cutting down a bit".

Hope everyone is feeling good tonight and looking forward to the week ahead. Let's just take it one day at a time and get this licked together Grin

(Just remembered when my best friend and I used to say chocolate was basically salad becomes it comes from cocoa beans, icecream is basically yoghurt and veggie pizza is very healthy as it is mostly veg... God help us)

Just to add some words of support as I know it's so hard.

Losing weight is fucking brutal.

I gained 3.5 stone in pregnancy and basically only 1.5 stone of that was baby. And I didn't overeat really! Had undiagnosed gestational diabetes though.

Anyway...

It's taken a good six months (frigging months!) to lose 20 pounds. Slow and steady wins the race. Average around 1500 cals per day, more exercise in summer.

Lower carb, loads of veg, some treats but I pick my treats carefully. Not fussed about wine, I'd rather have cake, so I have the odd slice. It's fine, keeps me motivated.

Some tips: Drink loads of water. Try on smaller clothes, it's encouraging when they finally fit. If you want sugar, have some protein and fat, a boiled egg and a cracker with cheese.

It is so worth it though, OP! You'll feel amazing just losing five pounds, you honestly will. Running isn't embarrassing anymore. I don't wobble. I can fit into nice clothes, not just maternity leggings. Skin looks good due to all the water and veg.

You can do it! GrinFlowers

Hi all!

The thanks old that is really helpful - I am finding it brutal to be honest!!

Hello to the new weight warriors - we can do this!!

Update from me- I have lost 1/2 a stone - really pleased but it has been hard graft for the last month and I have eaten very little and exercised 5 days per week. I have another 1.5 stone to go but the last stone will be very very hard.

Yesterday I did a few you tube sessions and really feel it today! Food wise did quite well - struggled with lunch as soup doesn't really fill me up. Snacked on raw carrot.

New week ladies - here we go.....

Hi. How are we all doing? What have you eaten today? I had a glass of soya milk for breakfast (supposed to help with menopause apparently), some melon mid morning and a chicken and spinach curry with rice for lunch. Portion control was probably way off as it was very good. No idea what I'm having later.
