Desperately seeking support..... 3 stone to lose. Who's with me?!

OK. This is ridiculous now.

I am a good three stone overweight. I can no longer call it baby weight because:

a) DD is now three years old.
b) I'm heavier than I was before, during or after my pregnancy.

I am unhappy. I look gross, and I feel like I am being held hostage inside my own body. I don't feel in any way attractive - in fact, I'm embarrassed by how I look and what I have done to myself. I hate the nursery run, as all the other mums are slim and healthy (even the ones who have tiny babies!).

It's impacting on my sex life with DH, on my energy to do anything (not doing any hobbies any more, house is a mess, tend to just hang around the house with DD) and on my enjoyment of life. I spend far too much money on food, which is impacting on our plans for the future (how fucking sad is that?).

I eat and drink too much, and move too little. It is that simple.

So, my life will be in calories in vs. calories out.

1100 cals per day, with most of them coming from protein and good fats. Limit carbs as I'm a carb monster and they don't fill me up.

Exercise - we have a rowing machine and a cross trainer in the garage, a really decent local swimming pool and bloody miles of fabulous countryside around us. I have no excuse not to do some form of exercise everyday, other than utter laziness.

Oh, and steps. I have a fitbit. It appears that since about this time last year, my daily average steps have halved, to less than 5000 per day. No fucking wonder I'm fat, eh? So those are going back up, even if I have to march on the sodding spot before bed.

I am happier when I consume less. I know this. I am happier when I feel healthy, when I feel good in my skin, I know this too. SO WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SO HARD???

Anyone who wants to join me in cheering the good days, gently querying the bad days, having a good old moan together instead of turning to chocolate and gin (and cake and bread and crisps and cheese and wine and beer and, quite frankly, whatever I can find in the cupboards) then please do. Otherwise, I am going to use this to offload on each and every day. To record my progress (cos there will be progress this time) and to show that I can do this. I can.

If I get brave, I might even upload photos.

Sneezeandooops · 07/08/2017 15:43

Vibration plates are great ImPRESS really helped me tone up for a wedding outfit couple of years ago. Plenty of exercises to use on them on youtube.

ImPRESSiveironing01 · 07/08/2017 16:46

Great! Now just tell me about the calorie free wine and am sorted!!!!🤣

Finola1step · 08/08/2017 09:01

Morning all, well it is one week.down so weigh in day. So here are the stats...
Starting Weight: 13st 6
After 1 week: 13st 2
Loss this week: 4lbs
Total loss: 4lbs

Very, very pleased. No gimmicks, no short cuts. Just old fashioned calorie counting, portion control, protein and veg.

How is everyone doing this morning?

lucy2204 · 08/08/2017 11:30

ImPRESSiveironing01 · 08/08/2017 11:52

lucy2204 · 08/08/2017 12:02

ImPRESSiveironing01 · 08/08/2017 12:08

Totally getting some...thanks!!!

FoxyLoxy22 · 08/08/2017 20:40

Drink the apple cider vinegar and water through a straw as it's really bad for your teeth. I've bought some and forgotten about it. I'll start again tomorrow.

Princessbubbles · 08/08/2017 20:44

Well done on your weight loss this week Finola.
I've kept to plan so far. 10,000 steps yesterday and 3 healthy meals. Fast day today 500 cals. Have ordered a Fitbit to keep me motivated

userofthiswebsite · 08/08/2017 22:36

Lucy2204

Is that something similar to that Skinny Sprinkles that everyone is going on about at the moment?

lucy2204 · 08/08/2017 23:10

I have no idea, I've just read about it, seen loads of story about people's weight lose journeys (seen before and after pics) seems to actually work! The lady in the h&b were I live has even lost weight on it

kally195 · 09/08/2017 08:05

Morning all!

Well, I've completely failed to MFP everything. Partly because both mine and DH's phones died withing a week of each other (and he takes my tablet to work) meaning I can only use the laptop, which has to be plugged in and therefore isn't portable. Sorted new phones last night though, so no excuse now.

Will weigh on Friday morning as am on 4.30am starts this week and can't face the scales at that time.

Back on it today. By this time next year I will be happy and healthy.

How are we all?

mehimthem · 09/08/2017 08:45

hi again - have logged into MFP (again :) ) & logged my food & Fitbit walks for Mon-Tues & all good. But had a silly crazy day today with appts & in & out of the car, so decided to skip lunch ... & it feels like it all went down hill from there. Need to remember to plan. By this morning I have lost all of one half of a kilo, which is mostly water I think - but shall hop back on this wagon again in the morning. Hope everyone else is feeling cheered with good progress. I found a link the other day with easy bento box lunch ideas which are quite tasty -

EverydayFeelsLikeAMonday · 09/08/2017 08:50

Morning all!
Weighed myself this morning and I'm down 5lbs in the first week and lost an inch from my waist and what I call the fattest part of me Grin
Expecting the weight loss to slow down once my body gets used to it.
Is anybody else shocked at the amount they used to snack?! I'd walk into the kitchen and nibble on something without even thinking!

Finola1step · 09/08/2017 15:25

Kally, 4:30am starts must be tough going. Good news on the new phones and MFP access.

mehim I think you're right about planning and not skipping lunch. I'm trying to eat a third of my daily calories at each meal and I really think it is helping with the no snacking. If I skipped lunch, I would be chewing my own arm by 4pm.

Everyday that's a fab loss, well done. You're absolutely right about the snacking. I'm beginning to see that it is the deal breaker for me in that the more I snack, the more I want. It sounds so obvious but it really has never occurred to me.

Keep on going people.

Lubilu28 · 09/08/2017 15:33

Hey can I join in?? I know I'm late but I've been kidding myself into thinking I'm happy when I'm not!! 2.5 - 3st to lose. I'm so angry with myself, I did lose nearly 1st before the summer but I seem to of put that on and a little bit more I feel disgusting!!!

ChevalierTialys · 09/08/2017 20:25

Mind if I join? I could have written your post myself OP, down to the letter.

•3 stone over recommended weight
•DS is too old to blame baby weight
•weight has increased since pregnancy
•hate the way I look and can't look in mirrors
•sex life with DP has withered and died
•I eat too much and move too little
•have a vivofit3 counting my lack of steps daily, which only shows me how poorly I'm doing.
•even have a cross trainer moonlighting as a clothes horse in the corner of my living room

I'm hoping that joining your thread might help me feel less alone and more motivated..

Refilona · 09/08/2017 21:07

I've downloaded the lifesum app and I really like it. Tempted to get premium but it's quite expensive. I'm having a fast day of sorts today, been cleaning all day and had very little food. Really tired of hating my image in the mirror. Motivation: through the roof! Let's see how it goes tomorrow...

reebsr33bs · 10/08/2017 09:09

Can I join?

Just read the OP and nodding I. Agreement, my confidence is so low and starting to feel repulsive !

Need to lose 3.5 stone. X

Lubilu28 · 10/08/2017 14:28

Hey ladies how is everyone getting on?

Day 2 and so far so good!! Except got to see the father in law in hospital later and will need to grab a a quick dinner after so going to head to KFC for one of their rice boxes, only 500kcal!! Hopefully I can avoid the chips!!

Breakfast - 1 slice of whole meal toast with Nutella and a banana!! (Need a nutella fix!)

Lunch - chicken salad with a small bit of cheese and low low fat mayo!!

So far only a cereal bar and strawberries as snacks!!

Going on a bike ride and a picnic tomorrow so let's hope the weather holds out!!

FoxyLoxy22 · 10/08/2017 14:34

So far so good. The apple cider vinegar seems to work. I have it first thing and don't feel hungry at all. Fruit mid morning and falafels and salad for lunch. Going to the track later to try and do a few laps. Hope the weather is kind to you Lubilu. :-)

ethanrayne · 10/08/2017 14:46

Marking place to reply properly later, I caught sight of myself in shop mirror and was horrified earlier. I'm a grotesque 15 stone - 5,7.

Princessbubbles · 10/08/2017 15:41

Hey everyone. Hope everyone is doing ok?
I might give this apple cider vinegar a go. Anything to keep the hunger pangs as bay.
Got my Fitbit now and completed a 10000 step dog walk this morning in the rain!
Time of the month and desperately trying to not look at that box of chocolates the in-laws got me.
Will weigh in next Tuesday.

PipGirl404 · 10/08/2017 15:44

Not sure if anyone else has said this as not RTFT - please up your calories from 1100. It's too low and you'll just end up binging after a week, and feeling lethargic and miserable.

I can give you a more accurate calorie goal if you want to PM me your height, weight etc - but I can tell you now 1100 is too low and unmanageable. Smile
