So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Welcome home designer Grin thought we'd lost you!
Ok, so first 4 days of holiday I hardly ate as running after kids etc, well I've certainly made up for that! We discovered the kids club and dh and I have been having BIG lazy lunches.
The desserts in the hotels restaurant are also to die for, I do have fruit for breakfast but that is where the healthy options stop Blush
Oh well I'm on holiday but soon as I'm back I'll get back into the diet.
Shame as It's really easy to eat healthy here, lots of grilled meats and fish, huge salad bar, lovely fruits etc, the fatty in me just lunges towards the lasagna, creamy pasta dishes and desserts Blush

Ellieboolou27 · 24/07/2017 11:09

Morning ladies, back to reality today, went to bed at 4am last night so not in the mood for calorie counting today, although weighed in and only put 2.5 on, I'm going food shopping later so wil be sticking up on healthy things, I'm actually looking forward to some veg that is not swimming in olive oil!
How's everyone doing?

Ellieboolou27 · 24/07/2017 11:45
  • picking up not sticking Grin
MissingPanda · 24/07/2017 17:55

Ellie Grin when I read it I thought you meant stocking up, although the idea of you pointing a gun at veg in some sort of robbery type thing did amuse me Grin 2.5lb is pretty good considering all those lovely desserts. Don't worry too much about calorie counting for the next few days, just try to opt for healthy foods, you can start the counting once you've got sorted.

Anyway...

I've done it! I've done it! I have done it!

Today I weighed in at 13st 12lb! I'm finally in the 13s...yipppeeeeee! Grin

As an aside I was updating my weight on MFP when I realised my starting weight was still recorded at 208lbs in July 2011 when I originally joined MFP and then proceeded to ignore it for several years. I changed it to 216lbs May 1st 2017 which is when I started this weight loss. I noticed that it has now changed my daily calorie allowance to 1410 so reducing the original number by 80. It shouldn't be a problem as I was coming in well under most days but will have to remember new number.

Star, Designer how are you doing?

Ellieboolou27 · 24/07/2017 19:21

Panda! That's a fantastic achievement, your on the same calorie allowances as me now Grin
Back to work tomorrow so I've made my sandwich and packed my weetabix Smile

It's my 40th at the end of October so my goal is to hit the 11st mark by then, currently 12.7, if I aim to lose 1/2 stone a month I think I can achieve that.

MissingPanda · 24/07/2017 19:35

I know you can achieve that. I have every confidence in you. Take it a day at a time, ignore any blips and you'll get there.

It's 9 weeks and 2 days until my birthday and I aim to lose 1lb a week by then. Anything more will be a bonus and very happily received Grin

StarHeartDiamond · 25/07/2017 00:17

Welcome back Ellie! Hope you had a lovely time. 2.5b is nothing after a holiday, nothing! Grin good job!! After a week of healthy eating you'll be back to where you were before. You can do it!

Panda- huge congratulations! Such an achievement, that's awesome! Fantastic progress Star keep up all your good work!!!

Ellie - you can definitely stick to it and be even slimmer by your 40th! Got to plan your party dress next Smile

I'm still up and down like a yo-yo... miecthe kids are off its harder because I'm out if my normal routine and also they come food shopping with me, so the "can I have" treats have increased Blush tonight I had a meeting with a bag of doritos Blush which felt like a good idea at the time but don't tomorrow morning on the scales!! I should take my own advice and remind myself that doritos will still be widely available after my holiday as well as before!!!

Ellieboolou27 · 25/07/2017 07:07

Morning star, a new law should be introduced that doritos should only be sold in small bags! I can't buy the chilli heatwave ones as I eat the entire family sized bag Blush

Kids off for summer now too so it will be more challenging, dd1 loves cheese toasties for lunch when at home and these are one of my weaknesses find it hard not to use half a block of cheddar in mine Grin

1lb a week is a good goal panda, think I'll join you with that as it's realistic target.
13 weeks until my 40th so at 1lb a week I'll be into the lower 11's.
This thread is better than a weight loss meeting! When we've finally managed to lose all that we want, we should do before and after photos.

MissingPanda · 27/07/2017 19:36

I was thinking earlier if I lose another 6lb it will take me to 2st lost exactly so I'm going to make that my next goal. Then I can focus on my birthday. Two achievable mini goals in my weight loss journey.

I still need to kickstart my exercise plan which has stalled since Lanzarote. I think being fitter and more toned will help with my motivation when it comes to weightloss.

Wrt photos I tend to avoid cameras but I do have a photo of myself taken in Jan when I was 15st 1lb. I got dd to take it in order to inspire myself to lose weight then but didn't work then obviously as I was 15st 6lb when I restarted in May. I'll post that one as my before photo if others are game Grin

MissingPanda · 27/07/2017 19:38

How's everybody else doing?

Hope you are all managing to eat relatively healthy even with the kids being on holiday.

StarHeartDiamond · 29/07/2017 10:40

Morning guys! Smile holidays and kids clamouring are making posting (and dieting!) harder but still definitely here and in the game! Hope you all are too.

I have found the increase of holiday treats around (ice creams etc) harder to stick to diet but I haven't put on, at least, so I'm going for a steady maintain until the holiday next week and anything more is a bonus Smile

Then, post holiday, it's full steam ahead for some events at the end of august and the autumn. Smile

How is everyone else doing?

Ellieboolou27 · 30/07/2017 12:16

Hi, was dd's actual birthday Thursday so we had lots of cake and nibbles, family meal yesterday but I ate healthy and only had a tiny slice of dd's cake. Weighed in today at 3.5lb loss, I couldn't wait until tomorrow as I've been pretty good and needed to see it onthe scales. Smile

Star have a lovely holiday, we will be here to support you when you get back.

MissingPanda · 30/07/2017 13:53

Woohooooo Ellie 3.5lb!! Fantastic 🌟🏅🏅 Well done you 😁 that's a brilliant loss.

Star a good idea to concentrate on maintaining until the holiday. As Ellie said we'll be here for you when you get back. Enjoy your holiday.

Designer that goes for you too when the dc are back at school and you get time to post.

Ellieboolou27 · 30/07/2017 16:27

Thanks panda Smile I feel back in the swing of things now so really going to aim for this 1lb a week.
I've a roast dinner today but loads of vegetables and only made enough roast potatoes to feed us 4, usually I'd make enough to feed an army.
designer how are you doing? It's only week one of the holidays here and I'm struggling already 😩

Gemi33 · 30/07/2017 16:28

Hi everyone

I started this thread and then disappeared....I have been quite unwell and everything else went out the window. You have all done so well and reading through this thread has made me quite sad because it made me realise how much I could have actually lost if I'd stuck with it. Instead I quite a bit heavier now :( Well done to all of you who are sticking with it!

xx

StarHeartDiamond · 30/07/2017 17:35

Gemi - come back!!! We are all still plodding, some days are easier then others diet/wise but the encouragement is very... encouraging! It's never too late to jump back in, we'd be happy to have you!!

StarHeartDiamond · 30/07/2017 17:36

Ellie- a huge congrats on your 3.5 off!!! That's you holiday gain plus one more, so proud of you! Grin

MissingPanda · 30/07/2017 18:13

Hey, @Gemi33, I second Star come back. Just because the beginning of May to now didn't work out for you doesn't mean it won't now. If you start now you could lose x number of pounds by y date. It's partly thanks to you that I've got as far as I have. If you hadn't started this thread then I wouldn't have had the support that I have and these ladies are very supportive and encouraging.

Ellieboolou27 · 30/07/2017 18:21

@gemi33 do come back! It's down to you that we are losing weight! It doesn't matter that you've gained, it really doesn't!

Gemi33 · 30/07/2017 19:03

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for being so nice! I nearly didn't post, I'm so embarrassed for being such a big fat failure (quite literally). I feel so terrible about myself but for some reason I really struggle to get and stay motivated and just end up giving up. So disappointed in myself.

xx

OP posts:
Ellieboolou27 · 30/07/2017 19:04

Thanks star, about a week or so before my holiday I was really flagging, kept thinking I'm almost there so won't lose a stone so may as well eat Confused my strange way of thinking!
Since I'm back I've got more motivation, could be my 40th looming and I don't want to look like I've given up on my body and style.
Off to try and tackle bedtime routine now wish me luck

MissingPanda · 30/07/2017 19:22

@Gemi33 good you're back, first things first lets sort the attitude. You are NOT a failure! That way of thinking is not conducive to getting yourself in the right frame of mind for losing weight. You are a success! You succeeded in coming back to this thread and that's not easy, it takes a lot of guts, especially as you started the thread. Lets put the last few months behind you, you can't change them they are what they are so forget about them wrt weight loss and see today as day 1. The day you decide you are going to do something, even if the food aspect doesn't start today the frame of mind, the planning e.g. aiming to lose 1lb a week can. Preparing yourself and getting yourself into the right frame of mind is a good start.

Anyway lecture over Wink welcome back to the thread :) Keep posting, the good and the bad, when you feel good and when you have a hard day. It really does help.

Gemi33 · 30/07/2017 19:47

Thank you, that's so kind. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow (not looking forward to that!). I've bought a brand new diet journal so I'm planning my meals for the week now. I find it really difficult not to give up after one bad day so I really need to work on sticking with it.

xx

OP posts:
StarHeartDiamond · 30/07/2017 23:02

Gemi- posting here regularly does help, with school hols and holidays it's been a bit more haphazard recently but being here has lost me 10lb and not put it back on because there's people here... like cheerleaders Smile so if you have a bad day then it's not like "nobody's watching, it's only me so who cares if I eat this nonsense today and tomorrow and next week (knowing you will regret it hugely when an event rolls up or whatever) it can help keep the focus on what you eat day to day if nothing else. Do stay now you're back!!

MissingPanda · 31/07/2017 10:24

Morning everyone :) weigh in day today. I'm using Boots scales atm as I don't trust mine so will do it on my way into work.

Hope everyone is okay. Gemi do stay with us, the support and encouragement is invaluable. It keeps you going even when you're having a bad day.
