Ist May - Big fat fresh start anyone?

Gemi33 · 30/04/2017 12:24

So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Can I join?

I was my smallest ever and the weights been creeping back on (I don't know why I keep self-sabotaging)

I cannot stop eating sweets and chocolate. It's getting ridiculous.

I've got just under a stone to lose and desperately need to tone up. I'm in a wedding in the summer and I can't be the chunky bridesmaid.

I'm in. Desperate photos of me at ester. Trousers too tight. Wedding to go to in the summer. Tried to be "good" last week but have just scoffed a brownie.

Going for a big walk tomorrow so that will be a start. Dusting off c25k as well.

Need to lose about three stone ConfusedShock

I absolutely NEED this. Have to lose 1.5 stone or replace everything in my wardrobe. Lost my job last June & have spent the last 9 months sitting on the sofa eating anything & everything.
Now it seems likely that I will have to meet my husband's exW for only the 2nd time in my life. They divorced a few years before he & I met and even though we've been married now for 20 years, I am still intimidated by the idea of her. She looked fabulous last time I met her & I need to feel more confident in myself to get through this.

Hi to you all!

Monkeyface26 I completely know how you feel, it's horrible when you feel anxious about seeing someone and don't feel good about yourself - there is a guy I really like but don't see often as he doesn't live locally and since I last saw him I have put on so much weight, I'm so worried that when he sees me he will run a mile - unfortunately the next time I see him may be in just under 2 weeks so don't think I can make much difference in that time- so cross with myself.

Id like to join for company. I actually started in January and am just under a stone and a half down, but have at least the same to go again. I'm doing no sugar or processed and have swopped all diet/low fat for regular. I'm loving it and slowly but surely chipping away at it.

Can I join in, please? I'm battling sleep deprivation (thanks, child....) and my method has been to eat sugar and crap to get through the days. Determined to lose a stone by the summer (a lovely loose deadline...! Summer isn't til mid-August, right?! ;)

Starting tomorrow...

Me too please! I have put on 9lb since Christmas when I should have lost 10lb!!
So tomorrow starting to walk further and faster and cut out the rubbish from my diet.
Today I started a trial of fat binder powders which has actually made me focus more on what sort of good is going in to my mouth. Anyone else tried these diet aids?

Hi I would love to join you. I am doing WW but haven't weighed in for a month because I am massively off plan and have been eating my body weight in sweets, chocolate and junk food since Mother's Day. My sister gets married next year and I do not want to be the fat bridesmaid!

Any distance but 100 miles is the aim

Could be a mile a day or 10

Arghhh. Weighed this morning: 12 st 8lbs @ 5ft 6. Not even translating it into BMI. Got to a normal BMI 18 months ago by ditching snacking and alcohol.

Ohh can i join.

I am kind of low carbing. I cant eat pasta, rice, bread or white potatos so low carb seems to be the best option. I will be eating veg and some fruit though.

I leave my job be PT at our own business in a month and will be joining a gym in june. Would love to lose a stone by then.

Can I join. At least three stone to lose but would like to lose at least half by the end of July. Just can't stop the emotional eating but hopefully this time will be different.

Count me in, please! Been hopping on and off diets since January, and need to really knuckle down now.

Goal is two stone by school summer hols, then another two by Christmas.

Will be doing MFP and walking 10,000 steps a day (plus my usual yoga and swimming).

Today's stats: 15 stone and I'm 5 ft 7". Yikes.

Good luck everyone and will keep posting!

Ok so I've weighed myself.

I'm 10 stone 6

That doesn't sound too bad but I am short and the extra weight is hanging round my middle and tops of legs. I look very round and barrel like.

My sister is much taller than me and she carries weight so much better than my short ass.

Don't beat yourself up, Gemi!

This is just day one, think how good the next weigh in will feel!

What are people eating today - always looking for inspiration on the food front....

Lots of salad, veggies and protein for me. Herbal tea to take the edge off, and 10,000 steps. Bed at 8pm if I have to!

Calories come to 1500 so looking on track.

First day is always hideous, isn't it? But I refuse to live in leggings for another summer....

Can I bob in and out? Am at least 4 stone overweight and have been losing and gaining the same 4 stone my whole adult life. Hmm. I used to be a very regular MN person but have had a few years away and am just starting to dip my toes back in...

I started trying to lose weight again 2 weeks ago and have shifted 12lb in the last fortnight, sticking to SW principles but haven't re-joined! Am trying to stick to 15 x syns a day, which had mainly been 1oz of Easter egg chocolate each evening as a treat for making it through the day! I've had terrible withdrawal headaches from stopping eating all the rest of the crap I was eating and I've cut right back on the wine Blush.

I've started running (shuffling) again which is mortifying, given my size, but I know is good for me.

We do what we can! Gemi - don't worry about what you weigh today - it's a start and that's what counts Smile

DottyDotAgain · 01/05/2017 08:50

Shark - I've got nearly a stone to go before I get to 15 stone Blush

I'm finding eating leftovers for lunch has really helped - little portions of whatever we had for tea. Rather than either eating nothing then wolfing down chocolate mid-afternoon, or buying loads of stuff at lunch time which isn't as healthy.

Our evening meals are pretty healthy - lean mince spag Bol/cottage pie, chicken casserole, pesto and pasta - we just make a bit more and save a bit for lunch and use quite small lunch boxes so we're not eating loads. Dp is joining me although she only needs to lose a few lbs Envy Smile

Last top tip - when I started a couple of weeks ago (and every time I start trying to lose weight...) I started on a Saturday so I could go to bed for virtually the whole weekend Blush. It's the only way I can get through the first couple of days..!

Feeing more human now but the first few days are so hard - poor body doesn't know what's happening...!

Report
pinkieandperkie · 01/05/2017 08:55

I agree Dotty the first two or three days is just awful. I feel so ill and the headache is so bad, and painkillers do not help.

Report
SharkSkinThing · 01/05/2017 08:57

Dotty - I was 15.7 at the beginning of the year, not so far away from you! And you have done bloody brilliantly so far! The fact is we are all here for the same reason; we want to lose weight.

I am inspired by your running, too (all runners in fact). I daren't try at my size! 😁
