So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Sounds like you were very precise, panda! Grin I am impressed, I'd have guesstimated the pb for sure. (Lazybones that I am!!)

Well I put on a pound after my earlier snack-fest, then lost it by Thursday, but today it's been a celebration day in the family (big birthday) so I've had some party food. So I'll have put the damn pound back on!

Out next weekend on sat night so I'm aiming to have lost 2-3lb this week for that.

Ellie, designer - hope you are both doing ok!

Ellieboolou27 · 08/07/2017 23:24

Panda the peanut butter / knife trick is what I've used in the past - but with a teaspoon!
I've been taking your advise and I'll confess to eating the last of your weetabix this morning Wink
Was dd's birthday party today, we had 14 kids and a lot of cake but I didn't eat much as much as I would have usually had
We were all at the farm so fair bit of walking and managed to stick to 1500 cals. I'm hoping this will be the last "big party" for a few years - the stress for organising a party for 5yo's is more than when I planned my wedding - I'm exhausted Grin
Holiday on Thursday so I'm keeping focussed

MissingPanda · 09/07/2017 09:49

Star I've tried guesstimating (love that word) in the past but always worry that I'm underguesstimating and not accounting for as many calories as I've ate. I'd rather eat less calories than what I think than the other way around.

Ellie Grin Thursday will be here before you know it and you'll look fabulous in that costume. Relax and enjoy yourself then come back to us when you return.

This morning I'll be having breakfast at work so there'll be weetabix Grin

MissingPanda · 10/07/2017 15:54

Weighed myself today and I've lost another 1lb so am now 14st 2lb. If I continue to lose at 1lb a week then another 3 weeks and I'll be in the 13s.

I have to admit a part of me is disappointed it isn't more but a part of me is relieved it's slowed down a bit. At least this way I'm more likely to keep it off when I hit my target weight.

My next goal was originally going to be my birthday but that's at the end of September which is a bit far away for me. My next goal will be to achieve 13st 13lb, then I'll concentrate on losing half a stone at a time. A bit more achievable for me.

I've been busy at work, including overtime due to sickness, so formal exercise has been neglected recently so I'll have to get that back on track too.

StarHeartDiamond · 10/07/2017 20:03

Woo hoo panda, that's brilliant! A slow and steady loss is great at this stage of the game. I am looking forward to your 13st something post, I'm sure it won't be very far off!

Ellie - kids cake and party food is irresistible! I absolutely love it, it's such a weak spot of mine! Every time I think I'll just have a few cheesy wotsits, but it never stays that way! Grin hope your dd had a lovely time.

Wibbling up and down the scales myself. Had a rare lunch (very rare!) out today and although it was one of those places that does posh small portions, I still felt rather bloated and uncomfortable afterwards. I wished I could just have had a plain food day but I couldn't get out of the lunch.

Right-o Smile I am committing to a plain-food day tomorrow, no cheats or snacks. No ifs, buts or maybes! Anyone care to join me??!

MissingPanda · 11/07/2017 09:19

Thank you :)

My first day off in two weeks and I'll be going food shopping so better have breakfast before I go so I'll be more likely to buy healthy food.

Star I'll join you in the plain food day today, if only because it's so much easier not having to think too hard about what I'm eating/cooking. Porridge for breakfast (no weetabix until I've been shopping), sandwich for lunch, then I'll work out something for tea that's easy to cook and healthy.

Ellieboolou27 · 11/07/2017 13:05

Weetabix this morning, chicken salad sandwich for lunch, not sure about dinner as yet but I've got some lovely marrows from our allotment so if there's time I'll make something nice out of them.

StarHeartDiamond · 11/07/2017 20:54

Good to hear of those healthy options! I've done ok today... just got to avoid the snack attack this evening! I did have a jam tart but I don't think I've gone over my calorie allowance for the day.

Ellie, what do you do with your marrow? I've never cooked one myself.

Ellieboolou27 · 11/07/2017 21:29

Mmmmm jam tarts Smile
Been good today, weighed and 4.5lb off, was going to wait until Thursday to weigh but needed a boost, I'm pleased I'm back on the losing side.
Marrow - treat as a giant courgette, I slice them in half, scoop out seeds, stuff with spiced lean mince, I put onions, garlic, mint, and tomatoes and top with halloumi cheese, drizzle olive oil and bake for 30 mins, whilst frying off mince etc put sliced marrow in the oven for about 10 mins, its very nice.
This is my problem, I love cooking and am quite good at it so always thinking about food!

MissingPanda · 11/07/2017 22:10

Well done Ellie! Congratulations! Being good has paid off Grin

Star well done on sticking to your calorie allowance.

I've come in under my calorie allowance and it's been quite a healthy day too. Porridge for breakfast, roast pork sandwich for lunch with some pineapple and salmon, new potatoes and veg for tea. Baked the salmon with pepper, a little bit of butter and some sweet chilli sauce and I was able to add some garlic and butter (all weighed using a teaspoon this time) to the potatoes and still come in under. Really enjoyed it.

Designer how are you doing?

StarHeartDiamond · 12/07/2017 14:29

Huge congratulations for the 4.5lb off Ellie! So happy for you Star well done for getting back on track!

I'm still wobbling at the 10lb off. I did well yesterday but watched that bbc1 drama last night and made my way through quite a few pretzels during it, so only half a pound off today, but never mind Smile

Thanks for the marrow tips, it sounds delicious! I have exhausted the geeedy girls cookbook and now making my way through joe wicks lean in 15, some great recipes in there although I cut down on the coconut oil (much as I love it)!

StarHeartDiamond · 14/07/2017 11:03

Ooh and have a lovely holiday Ellie!🍸☀️

StarHeartDiamond · 15/07/2017 00:08

Just realised I missed your post after Ellie's, panda! Thanks for words of encouragement. Your food sounds delicious!

MissingPanda · 17/07/2017 08:30

Weigh in day today. Started with a cold Saturday and still feeling crap Sad. Also sank a bottle of Bucks Fizz on Saturday which put me above my calorie intake but was well below yesterday so still a deficit.

As an aside I tried scanning the barcode, using the MFP thingy (technical term 😁) on the Bucks Fizz three times. Each time it came up as Sainsburys' strawberries, no idea what that was about Confused

Hope Ellie is enjoying her holiday.

Star and Designer how are you doing?

Ellieboolou27 · 17/07/2017 21:08

Greetings from lanzarote Smile
Buck's Fizz Grin I last had that at my wedding, strawberries are so low in calories so if mfp states it as that then take it Grin
Not been too bad on the eating front, too hot and too busy running after the kids, why the hell I assumed taking 2 under 5'a abroad was a good idea I'll never know!
Settled in a bit more now, back next Monday so will get right back on track, until then......Smile

Dh is in the kids disco and I'm sinking sangria on the balcony while little one is sleeping Shock

Star, designer hope you both good

StarHeartDiamond · 18/07/2017 16:07

Hi panda & Ellie 🙂

Panda- how did your weigh-in go yesterday? Hope your cold is wearing off too.

Ellie - good to hear from you! How's the weather in Lanzarote? Great that you are able to burn off some calories on hols, you might come back lighter than before you left! I always have visions of eating nothing but watermelon and oranges on holiday whilst sipping iced water, and toning up in the pool, but the reality is plates of chips, family bags of crisps and warm cola by the bucketful Smile

Tried on my swimming costumes for hols today. They're not bad but would definitely benefit from me bring half a stone lighter, so that's my aim! (3 weeks to go).

StarHeartDiamond · 18/07/2017 16:07

And designer - hop you ok! X

StarHeartDiamond · 18/07/2017 16:07

*hope!

MissingPanda · 18/07/2017 20:00

Sorry meant to post again yesterday after finishing work but was so tired, just didn't get around to it.

Star The cold is much better, thank you :) Luckily they never last long even if I do feel like crap at the beginning. The good news is I lost 1lb so another step in the right direction...down Grin

Ellie enjoy Lanzarote and remember the good thing about taking two under 5s is you don't get to eat your body weight in cake and put on a stone while there Wink

Designer where are you?

MissingPanda · 18/07/2017 20:04

Oops, meant to say Star you can do it. Focus your mind and take it day by day, meal by meal if necessary.

Ellieboolou27 · 18/07/2017 20:59

Lol star your post made me giggle with holiday food aspirations, who hoo panda another 1lb off, you are inspirational.
Yes designer show yourself Grin doesn't matter if you've fallen off track or put on 1st just come back Smile

Designerenvy · 21/07/2017 10:22

Hi everyone....I'll catch up with all your progress later and have a good read through ! I haven't been on mumsnet at all, the kids are on hols and I'm working too and I've been eating like a pig 🙈🙈..... but I'm on today and I hope to stay in touch 😀😀.
Weighed myself this morning and I'm up 3 and a half pounds since I last lost... actually thought it would be a lot more but all my muscle tone is gone too !
Decided today is the day to start back and what better way than to check in with u lot !!!!
So sorry, will not disappear again like that.....just busy here and in a bit of denial over eating too much and not exercising. If anything can help me get back on track, it's u lot 😁!
Sorry again and will Def be checking in and having a good read through what ye've been up to while I've been hibernating 😉😉

StarHeartDiamond · 21/07/2017 15:48

Hi Designer and welcome back!! Smile glad all is well with you. 3.5lbs is very reasonable I think! Busy times can definitely catch you unawares, but there will be a window if opportunity if you wait long enough where you're in that zone where you do get losses. All here with you!

I am struggling to get beyond my 10lbs off, am a bit annoyed I haven't made it more yet but then I know for a fact I would have thrown the towel in ages ago and put my 10lbs back on and possibly more if it wasn't for this thread! Still hoping to drop a few more before my hols but unlikely. Not impossible though if only I could put down the crackers and jam tarts Grin

Ellie, panda - hope you both good Smile

Designerenvy · 21/07/2017 17:09

Hi star....thanks so much ! 10 pounds is great....that's where I was at when I fell off the wagon ! .... I think u do reach a plateau so hopefully things will move on again for u. You'll love Lanzarote .... it'll be fab !
Hope Ellie is having a great holiday !! Enjoy the break...and sunshine Smile
Hi Panda....you seem to be keeping on track .... yer all doing very well. I'm finding it hard today but I really need to stick at this Grin....temptation everywhere I look Shock

MissingPanda · 21/07/2017 18:02

Hi Designer and Star things are going well here, 1st 5lb lost so far. Still a long way to go but a good start made.

Designer life does tend to get in the way especially work and kids. We'll be here when you're ready and able to start again. In the meantime just keep posting as and when you can find the time. Doing that may help you to avoid getting back into bad habits.

Star step away from the crackers and tarts. WinkGrin

Ellie hope you're still enjoying your holiday.
