So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

How have you got on today, Ellie? I hope you are clawing your way back on track. Here to support you and pull you back on the train! 🙂

Ellieboolou27 · 30/06/2017 21:28

Thank you star and panda, your support means a lot, I'm doing ok(ish) not fully back on track but feeling a bit more positive.

It's like designer said a few posts back, once you have a bad few days it's that much harder to stop those bad habits sneaking back in.

I also find that when I've got an event coming up that I'd like to be slimmer for it makes me even more hungry / greedy and I end up eating more.

I'm really going to put a lid on this self destruct thinking / eating as if I don't, I'll end up gaining all I've lost.

StarHeartDiamond · 30/06/2017 22:15

I'm the same with an event sometimes Ellie. It's self-sabotage and I don't know why it happems but it's blimming annoying when it does!!

I think it's a case if "oh well, spoilt it now so I might as well throw the towel in".

Don't throw the towel in. If nothing else you can aim to maintain and not put any weight on before the holiday? Take the pressure of a bit. If you lose anything extra it's a bonus.

Or you could wake up tomorrow with a fresh outlook. Eat the foods you ate and do the things you did on successful days. But you still have a week or two before hols. You can still make good choices between now and then.

Designerenvy · 03/07/2017 01:25

Hi all! Having a blast in London ...such a fab city. Kids are wrecked but loving it .... will need a month to recover Shock.
I've not been good, but look, it's holidays ! I'll have to get back on track once I'm home but I know it'll be hard !
Ellie, you'll be fine. It's a blip !!! You can get back on track...it's difficult but very doable. You've done it before you can do it again !
Last day here tomorrow and home on Tuesday. Must say I've loved it ....every minute... I'm sure my scales will cry on Wednesday but I'll make myself weigh in ....just to maybe jolt me back to reality !

Ellieboolou27 · 03/07/2017 12:38

Hey all, back on track now day 2 of controlling my eating, I'm. Ring kind to myself and have set mfp to 1500 a day for this week as if I go to low I panic and end up overeating far more.
Designer London was my hometown for many years, it's fast and fab, do glad your enjoying it!

MissingPanda · 03/07/2017 14:43

OMG OMG OMG!!! I've just weighed myself and I'm 14 st 3lb. I've lost 6lb!!!!!

Ellie so glad to see you back on track. I've tried so many times to lose weight and failed in the past so if I can do it this time so can you. We will do this together 😊

Designer glad you had a fabulous time.

Star how are things going?

Ellieboolou27 · 03/07/2017 15:48

Panda!!!! That's amazing you are killing it!!!!
Now, tell me what you are doing to lose almost a stone in 2 weeks Grin
You've given me the kick I needed, I'm so happy for you!!! StarStarStar

MissingPanda · 03/07/2017 16:04

Ellie Thank you :)

I have no idea. I did note that this last week almost every day I came in under my calorie allowance. I've also worked every day since Wednesday and seem to spend a lot of time running up and downstairs so maybe that's helped. I'm also over a stone heavier than you and I think it's easier to lose more when you're heavier and have more to lose.

I'd just like to say though I couldn't do it without you, Star and Designer. Reading all your (collective) posts about successes, struggles and even setbacks is helping. They remind me that I'm not the only one doing this which is why I'm so glad you're back on track because I need you here. Glad I've managed to give you the kick you needed too Grin

Designerenvy · 05/07/2017 10:30

Ellie, well Done getting back on track. You've done it for 2, you can keep it going.... delighted ur back on track ! Grin.... loved London Ellie. Kids found the pace a bit too fast at times and were a bit overwhelmed , so we curtailed some activities to suit them but had a great time nontheless ! AmazING city....so much we didn't get done but that's a reason to go back !
Wow Panda... you're amazing ! 12 pounds in 2 weeks.....now that's motivation. ...well done....need all these great stories to.help me get back on track Grin
I weighed myself this morning and I'm up 2 and a half pounds. I'm delighted cos I thought it would be a lot more. I think maybe all the walking might have helped ....well, back on track today ( I hope) .... here's to a loss ( hopefully) next week 😀

Designerenvy · 05/07/2017 10:31

Hi Star....hope all is well with you Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 05/07/2017 12:33

Hi girls Smile great news on your 6lb off panda, that is fabulous! Star Star Star some serious effort has gone on there I can tell! You are well on your way now, flying high!

Ellie - fantastic you are getting back on track, knew you could do it! How long until the holiday now? Have you got all your holiday clothes sorted or is there lots of last-minute stuff to get?

Designer - wow London sounds amazing! Only 2.5 lbs on, that's so good after a trip like you've had, I reckon all the walking has offset the meals and you'll have been toning up too!! Win-win!! Smile

I was down a pound on Sunday so 12 off but then had a bad day Monday and yesterday, I have a summer cold and I've realised when that happens I just wasn't Foood. Of any kind, mainly granola, then I had a huge portion of chilli plus quite a few snacks & chocolate. Bit of a downer really. I haven't weighed myself since to see what the damage is, I'll put it off until weekend and try & get back on track between now and then. Going food shopping now so I'm getting all the healthy stuff in, but no granola Smile and so far today I'm ok so hopefully the craving has passed! I just feel annoyed with myself for squandering my loss. Oh well. In the past I'd have gone on for the rest of the week but I can feel the group here pulling me back to base so I'm going to make a real effort today not to give in!

StarHeartDiamond · 05/07/2017 12:34

*Just want

MissingPanda · 05/07/2017 14:01

Thank you :)

Designer 2.5lb isn't too bad and I bet once you get back on track you'll lose it in no time.

Star I know what you mean about a cold making you want to eat. When I have a cold all I want to do is dress in something warm and comfy, cover up in a blanket and eat. Needless to say salad isn't on the list.

Ellie how's it going?

MissingPanda · 06/07/2017 09:21

I went slightly over my calorie allowance on MFP yesterday. The good news is I was under on Monday and Tuesday so still have a calorie deficit.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 11:43

Hi everyone, good to see we are all pulling back and getting in line Grin
I've been good, staying within my 1500 cals a day so far, going to drop down to 1400 from tomorrow as it's one week till holiday!
panda what allowance does mfp allocate you, mine is currently 1390 but as I fell off the train a few times I upped it to get me back on track.

Star, designer - how are you ladies getting on?
It's a hot one here today so not feeling up to much exercise but will take our dog out tonight for a river walk which is around 2 miles. (He does go out during the day to, but only short walks with school run).

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 11:44

And welcome back designer in 2.5 up too so we can lose it together.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 11:45

*im

MissingPanda · 06/07/2017 12:33

Ellie my allowance is currently 1490 for a 1.5lb weekly loss. That'll probably change as I lose weight though. I come in under it most days but I'm not hungry except at meal times when I should be.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 13:40

It's around the same as mine although if I put in 1.5 a week loss it's 1200 Shock couldn't go that low, when you get a moment could you give me a sample of your average daily eating plan?

I seem to only have 350-400 left by dinner time and this is where I struggle. Do you break the calories down for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
I have tea with sugar so that's 40 calories and I'll have at least 2 a day.

MissingPanda · 06/07/2017 16:09

My calorie allowance was calculated when I was 15st 6lb. If I recalculated it now it would probably come in lower but I'm happy with it for the moment and I'm still losing weight so will stick with it for now. I have to confess that I never thought about including drinks Blush. Having said that I have 1 cup of tea in the morning and sometimes that's it. Other times I have 1, maybe 2, more but that's it and I don't have sugar and very little milk. My vice is pepsi max which has 1 calorie per 250ml and I'm trying to cut down on that. I drink mainly water, I have a filter jug at home and they have them at work.

Wrt my diet I'm concentrating o valoriea atm and they're not always healthy. I went to a friends last week and had a steak pie which was just under 500 calories Blush I do want to increase healthy days and decrease unhealthy ones though.

My diet plan is complicated by the fact that I eat a lot of my meals at work so am at the mercy of who is cooking at one house and what is available in the other. We do have to provide a healthy diet though so it's not too bad I just have to watch potion size in the first. In the second I'm lone working so can usually find something low calorie to eat even if it's a bit of a weird combination.

Anyway before I ramble on too much you mentioned calories for your main meal. For breakfast I always have weetabix, 2 biscuits with 200/300mls of milk. I always input 300mls into MFP to be on the safe side. I tend to have a sandwich for my lunch. It may seem boring but it has the advantage of keeping my calories low so I have more to use for my tea. Yesterday I waa at home and did tuna mayo pasta. That was quite high, mainly due to the mayo, so it restricted my allowance for my tea which is one of the reasons why I went over.

I hope that's helpful to some extent. Like I said I'm hoping to increase my healthy days so eventually they are the norm without me having to think too hard about it. Atm illness and holidays mean a lot of time spent at work so I'm concentrating on calorie intake.

MissingPanda · 06/07/2017 16:19

Hmm, had a look on MFP and it has my current weight in the goals section as 199 (yaaayyyyy!!!! I'm less than 200). That still makes me over a stone heavier than you Ellie. Maybe that's what enables me to have a higher calorie allowance. Whatever the reason the important thing is that we go downwards no matter at what speed.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 20:08

That's great panda, thank you.
I think as I don't tend to eat breakfast then lunch is something I can just stuff in as I'm so hungry by then.
I'm also trying not to snack after my evening meal as once I start it's hard to stop!
I'd like to get into a habit of eating 3 meals a day and maybe Byblos sticking to similar breakfast and lunches it takes away the constant thinking of "oh what should I eat, what's healthy, what's low cal" etc etc.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/07/2017 20:09

byblos Grin I meant by

MissingPanda · 06/07/2017 22:36
Grin
MissingPanda · 08/07/2017 12:52

Well the best laid plans...

Went to have breakfast this morning and discovered we've ran out of weetabix so had to have porridge instead. Had to measure it out because I've not had it for a while but at least it made it easier to input on MFP. Then I discovered all the cooked meats had been used up so I ended up with peanut butter on toast instead. That was a bit trickier so I weighed a knife on my scales then weighed the knife with pb on it to get an idea of how much I was using. The things we do in the pursuit of weight loss Grin
