So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Well done panda, it sounds like you have really clicked with it all. It's so good when we can go away and feel better/fresher/lighter, I love it.

I've been sooo hot too Ellie, today's a bit fresher but the nights upstairs in are hotter than ever (for all the wrong reasons!) Grin

The only good thing about the heat is that I don't feel like eating as much, or having as many cups of tea (which always go with a choc rice cake or biscuit!) and any bit of exercise like gardening seems to burn up more calories?!

Ellieboolou27 · 21/06/2017 13:42

Star Grin. Bedroom heat! I know what you mean, I'm tempted to sleep downstairs, only thins stopping me is I'm much nearer the fridge!
My eating has gone down too, salads and fruit are much more appealing and I can't face cooking.

I brought some of those chocolate rice cakes a while ago, they are good, so good in fact I've barred myself frim buying anymore as I ate 6 of them in one go Shock

MissingPanda · 21/06/2017 19:45

Yes the hot weather does have its advantages in that I'm less likely to want to eat chocolate, crisps, cake etc and more likely to drink water.

Went for another run this morning, a bit earlier so it was 16/17 degrees so a bit cooler. Managed to complete the first two runs and did 3 1/2 minutes of the third run so better than Monday. I'm contemplating doing some You Tube workouts and then going back to week 3 which I found slightly challenging but doable and starting from there again, when the weather cools down a bit.

Designerenvy · 22/06/2017 07:45

Hi all.... glad to hear ye are all well and coping with your heatwave !
It's not as hot here but it's around 24-26 degrees, which is lovely. I took poor coby for walk yesterday around 10am ( 20 degrees) and had to turn back 15 min into it as he was panting....it was too hot for him and I was afraid I'd make him sick 🐶🐶.
Well done Panda for even attempting your c25k in that heat, mind yourself though a you'll exhaust yourself.
I've only been OK this week, sneaking the odd cake and packet of crispsBlush.... I need to be better this wk now ! I weighed myself yesterday and I was the same . I was happy enough cos I've not been that good tbh !
Kids finishing school tomorrow so.it's been mental with all the end of year stuff....hard to believe another year is over ! Time is just flying Shock

Ellieboolou27 · 23/06/2017 21:49

Weighed this morning as have been "feeling slimmer" I am!!!
1.5lb down so I'm very pleased with myself.
It's really working all this paying attention to what I'm eating, I went on a play date after school today, the mum laid out chocolate cookies and flapjacks, I resisted and didn't even fancy them. I did eat a few sweet potatoe fries and a glass of iced water, I felt so much better for it.
How is everyone getting along? Any plans for the weekend?

Designerenvy · 24/06/2017 01:06

Hi Ellie. .. well done U! That's fantastic, losing weight and resisting temptation !
I had 2 parties with the kids yesterday and today...end of school stuff.... I didn't resist temptation ate all the wrong things and no water or exercise ! I need to get back on track tomorrow or I risk going back to square one.

Ellieboolou27 · 24/06/2017 07:15

Designer - I do have my holiday in less than 3 weeks so I've got extra motivation, I find when the kids break up it that much harder.
forget the last few days, view it as a respite, but now it's time to get back to caring about yourself, I keep saying that to myself when the urge to stuff my face with crap comes and it does often Grin
I don't mind losing control for a few days but im finding it easier to draw a line now, I never did before and I became bigger and bigger.

Designerenvy · 24/06/2017 11:22

Thanks Ellie. Yes I'm determined to get back on track today cos I feel all my old habits sneaking back in !
That's a great term " caring about yourself" ...cos that's what it is really! Taking the time and making the effort to care for"me". .. thank u....that's my new mantra for motivation !
We go to London on Wednesday, so I need to get control back fast.
Your hols are flying in too Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 24/06/2017 21:25

Evening all Smile Ellie, great news on your 1.5lb loss and also well done for resisting those treats! It's hard when you're unexpectedly faced with treats especially if it catches you at a hungry moment so you did very well there!

Designer - I'm sure you will catch the wave again soon. Some days are easier than others, in fact I had a few bad weeks where it was really hard to stick to calorie allowance without going over at the end of every day, but I kept thinking about hols when I'll be wearing a swimming costume and also this thread Smile and it got me back on track!id say it was the thread mainly and the support here.

For the last week I've been pretty good, down another pound today so I'm happy with that. My clothes order arrived from oasis and I loved all of them, they fit nicely instead of being a bit uncomfortable or not looking as good as I'd hoped, so that was good. It's five or so weeks until hols so hoping to lose a half stone between now and then.

You can do it, designer! It will suddenly click again and you'll be back on track before you know it.

Ellieboolou27 · 25/06/2017 08:37

Well done star! It's a great feeling when we try clothes in and they fit and look good. Took dd's swimming yesterday and tried out my new costume, dh commented that it looks "very nice and he doesn't know why I worried so much" that really made me feel good as he is not one to compliment or comment on weight usually.
I'm out today for lunch with family but I've already planned what I'll be eating and I feel so much more in control now.
Designer and panda how are you both doing today?
I was up until 1.30am reading last night and didn't snack which is a first for me!
I did have a hot chocolate around midnight but it wasn't accompanied by half a packet of biscuits like it usually would have been.

MissingPanda · 25/06/2017 18:23

Well done Ellie and Star on your weight loss :)

Ellie well done on resisting temptation.

Star it's good when you can see your efforts paying off with things like clothes that fit better.

Designer stick with it. It'll be worth it in the end. Wrt walking your dog I think you did the right thing turning back, it does get too hot for them.

I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow. I've been busy working the last few days with a couple of sleeps (using the term loosely) thrown in so have managed to refrain from eating between meals.

I've managed to confuse myself wrt my weight though. When I had my asthma review I was offered a healthcheck which I took them up on. When I went for it last Wednesday I was weighed on their scales and, like the last time, I weighed in at 91kg/14st 4lb. Last time I assumed it was because I was weighed on carpet but when I took a look this time it wasn't carpet I was weighed on but some type of flooring that looked similar to the carpet in the waiting room. I do have a brain, honest Blush Obviously can't say the same for my eyes Grin Anyway I've decided since I started on my scales I'll stick with them so at least I'll know my total weight loss.

StarHeartDiamond · 26/06/2017 17:59

Thank you Ellie and panda! Smile

Ellie - my dh is the same, he hardly ever comments on my weight (big or small) in fact he never commented when I was a lot bigger, very occasionally he'll say something looks good when I'm slimmer but I'm quite glad he leaves me to get on with it and doesn't mind what I am ok every pound I lose I want a fanfare from him Smile how did you get on with your family event?

Panda - I'm sure the scales at the surgery are correct Smile are there any other scales you could use just to see? Well done on not snacking between meals, it's my downfall especially night-time snacking!!

I was quit loose on the diet yesterday so had a roast dinner (didn't go mad) and quite a few sweets and some biscuits & crackers etc. Got to have a cheat day every now and then! Back on it today and so far thevscakes have stayed the same so hopefully escaped too much damage!

Ellieboolou27 · 26/06/2017 18:39

Hi all
Not a good day today, we had a cake cookery competition at work which I wasn't aware of until I went into the lunch room!!!! I had a bite of everything Blush for judging purposes of course, yesterday I was really good though, had a grilled chicken salad with a small piece of olive bread and half a glass of wine topped up with soda water.
I've got a day out Wednesday with work, a jolly of some sort, all bringing picnic food!

MissingPanda · 26/06/2017 19:13

Star I'm back to wanting those scales Grin I'm pretty sure they're right but I can't go to the doctors each week just to weigh myself. The main thing really is if I'm seeing a loss.

I'm giving up on my scales. I weighed myself on them this morning and at first weigh was still 15st 1lb so I weighed again. Only this time I moved the scales about a foot away from the first place, nearer the door into the living room where it was lighter so easier to see the numbers (still the same floor surface). This time I was 14st 11lb. Even I can't lose 4lb in about 5 seconds. I'm good but I'm not that good Grin I just can't rely on those scales.

I was passing Boots before so I went in there and weighed myself on their scales and weighed in at 14st 9lb. I've used their scales in the past and trust them so I think I'll stick to them from now on. I also weighed myself on their scales on the Friday after I came back from Lanzarote so I have a starting weight of 15st 1lb on them.

The good news is I've lost 6lb in 10 days Grin Some of it will be water weight probably gained from the travelling the day before, plus it's a bit like the first week again having not bothered the week I was away. Either way I'm a happy Panda Grin

Ellie these things come to try us. A couple of months ago it would probably have been a large piece of each.

Ellieboolou27 · 26/06/2017 20:40

Panda!!! 6lbs bloody fantastic Star
That's your biggest weight loss so far, water weight or not it's almost half a stone - be proud!
I need a really good week like that as im fits and starts the last few weeks, although I lost 1.5 I've put it back on (but it is time of the month).

You've inspired me to really push myself this week and get focussed. Your right about the first week syndrome, I need to see a big(ish) loss so I can move forward towards getting in the better half of the 12's.

Onwards and downwards ladies Grin

MissingPanda · 26/06/2017 21:09

Thank you Smile

I am feeling proud of myself. I'm only one pound heavier than I was when I went to Lanzarote. Will keep my fongers crossed that you stay focussed and get that big loss.

MissingPanda · 26/06/2017 21:10

Fingers Blush not entirely sure what fongers are.

Ellieboolou27 · 27/06/2017 09:34
Grin
Designerenvy · 27/06/2017 20:00

Hi Ladies... congrats to all the losers.... ye are flying it !
I really haven't had a good week ( diet wise).... I'm off to London tomorrow for 6 nights so will be eating out a lot. I'll definitely have to get back on track when I'm home as I feel the weight creeping on already and all the old habits sneaking back in... .you'd think I'd know better by now !
I'll keep checking in cos I'll be dying to know how ye are all doing and I need inspiration and motivation....no better people to get it from than yourselves 😀

StarHeartDiamond · 28/06/2017 15:05

Panda - 6lb in 10 days is amazing! Keep going! Star

Ellie - how is your week going? Hope it's going well and you are staying on track.

Designer - London and 6 days of eating out sounds fabulous I have to say! How are you managing food-wise, is it tough or are you able to resist at all? I have a love-hate thing for events whilst dieting, it's unavoidable but I want to wail "noooo! Not when I'm doing so well!" Grin

Speaking of which I strayed off-track myself yesterday. Dh was out for the evening so I had a big bowl of granola then some crackers and cheese then some more then two pieces of toast, a curly wurly and then I took myself to bed before I could eat anything else!! Grin so far so good today though. I'm out at the weekend and really want to fit into a dress with room to spare so if I stay on track today onwards maybe I'll manage it! I think I'll do bath & feet etc tonight - far from the kitchen....

MissingPanda · 28/06/2017 15:35

Star and Designer thank you.

Star when you're tempted again just remember how you felt when you tried on those clothes from Oasis and they fit well.

Designer while in London consider making sensible food choices when eating out, at least some of the time. Having said that don't worry about it. Just enjoy yourself, have the time of your life and step back on the band waggon when you get back. We'll save you a space Wink

Ellie how's it going?

Ellieboolou27 · 29/06/2017 13:57

I've a confession... I had my works jolly yesterday and it was more like a competitive eating competition

Bacon butties on the coach, cream tea on arrival, BBQ for lunch and not a salad leaf insight, sweets and chocolate on the coach home, finished off by an Indian at 9pm with lots of beer Blush
Weighed this morning at 12.9 so I've put back on that 1.5 loss in a matter of days
I was too embarrassed to post last night but come back with tail between my legs!

StarHeartDiamond · 29/06/2017 14:56

Aw Ellie, there's only encouragement here! Flowers

You can shake that 1.5lb and more besides in a matter of days. The important thing is to ringfence the day as much as possible - don't let yesterday turn into a few days then a week and so on (which is where I've slipped up in the past). It sounds like a wonderful day and well deserved, but let's get you back on the track!

Go & try on your lovely swimming costume again and picture yourself in it in few weeks at the pool. Chuck out any naughty stuff if you've bought any today and plan your healthy days food and snacks for tomorrow.
Try and drink extra water today and you know I love baths and think they have a boosting effect so maybe try a bath tonight?!

You have done so so well and I am impressed at your progress. You can do this! Star

MissingPanda · 29/06/2017 15:04

Oh dear, not a good day (understatement of the century)

You now have two choices. You can give up and start eating unhealthily again or, and I think this will be the one you'll pick, you think 'Fuck it I had a really bad day yesterday but I'm not going to give up and go back to the way I used to eat, like I would have one time. This time I'm going to pick myself up, brush myself off and I'm going to start again. I'm going to lose that weight until I get to the weight I want to be.'

Yes, yesterday wasn't a good day for you but when all is said and done you only put on 1.5lb which isn't that bad, considering what you've listed. You've lost that 1.5lb before so you can do it again. You can also lose the rest of the weight you want to lose so deep breath put it behind you and start again. Maybe keep a food diary for a few days. It's something I've done it the past although I never kept it up but I found I'd chose not to eat the mars bar because I didn't want to put it down. It really made me think about what I was eating.

Hope that doesn't sound patronising.
