Squiffy You are supposed to reset what your idea of "normal" is, to that of around your TDEE so for the first few weeks it is good to try and count on non fast days too.

If you go lower than the TDEE plus your 2 fast days then you should see results quickly.

If you are regularly eating 10%+ of your TDEE then you will absolutely gain weight.

HairsprayBabe · 16/03/2017 14:40

thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-calories-on-a-non-fast-day/ this explains it better Squiff

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/03/2017 16:43

Squiffy when I first started doing the 5:2 I ended up not losing weight because I was overeating on my "normal" days, I think I had just lost sight of what normal was. Now I count calories on my off days and try to keep to my maintenance calories (according to MFP) and that seems to work.

Softpebbles · 16/03/2017 17:27

God I'm so fecking fed up. Eating my way through a dark patch. Sad

HairsprayBabe · 16/03/2017 17:40

Pebbles Flowers
Hope you are ok

Squiffy01 · 16/03/2017 19:17

pebbles hope everything is alright. Flowers

hairspray thanks for the link explains this well and have done my calculations.
I'm quite excited. Unfortunately I've got a few things on in the next few weekends but if I can stay strong around them I'm hoping for good things.

Chardonnay73 · 16/03/2017 19:55

waves from Tenerife
I think it's fairly safe to say that Boop and I have drunk at least our days calories in alcohol in the 24 hours we have been here 🙄
Had prawns in garlic oil and steak last night, god it was lovely!
I can confirm that Boop looks amazing! She's having a little siesta after a few drinks round the pool at sunset 😂
Off out for dinner in a bit, maybe tapas, and of course more drinks 😜

HairsprayBabe · 16/03/2017 20:39

Hope you are having the most AMAZING time down on the equator Chard and BOOP WineGinCake

Stellar67 · 16/03/2017 20:50

Thanks all! 🙏 I do enjoy yoga. Maybe I should just give it all up and detox in India!

Enjoy chard and BOOP!!!!!

I've had a practice fast day. I think I quite enjoyed it.

My throat is sore, I've had a high pitched squeak all day. Why I can't be husky and gravelly I don't know. My eyes are almost closed. I'm bidding goodnight.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/03/2017 21:41

Have a lovely holiday you two!!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/03/2017 00:58

PMSL at the Tenerife drunken updates. Go BOOP and Chard! WineGin

Squiffy01 · 17/03/2017 07:07

Haha have w lovely holiday you two. Keep the updates coming and keep us entertained.

Weighed in this morning and gained 200g which with a weekend in Venice eating EVERYTHING and not being all that good this week I'm not upset about could have been a lot worse.
Thought I might just crack on and get into a fast day today.

lastqueenofscotland · 17/03/2017 07:11

9 11 this morning.

Frustrating but better than a gain

QuimReaper · 17/03/2017 07:47

Squiffy 200gms is nothing, I'd be thrilled if that's all I gained after a holiday! Grin That's why I love the 5:2, I can go up a few hundred gms and know that a couple of fast days will more or less fix it. Obviously that's why I'm maintaining at the moment, I'm going up a couple of hundred, losing it again, gaining it again, etc. and never actually getting the baseline number down, but it did work for me for ages.

BOOP and Chard I am ridiculously happy thinking of you two on the beach together, we've all heard so much about this magical trip I feel like it's a sort of Slenderistas School Trip! Please do continue to keep us informed from the front line and do have the most FANTASTIC time GinGinGinGinGin

QuimReaper · 17/03/2017 07:53

I agree with everything hairspray said btw about non fast days. It really has worked to help me reset my "normal" and made permanent inroads into my eating habits. I've probably bored you with it before but my Golden Week is 2 fast days and 2 "good days", I.e. very healthy food, no carbs, lots of veg etc. and then I'm allowed all that on the weekend, and it now just doesn't occur to me to crack into the wine / whip up a huge pot of pasta etc. on a random Wednesday night. Before hand I was doing all that every night which is how the weight came on in the first place. Obviously the fast days have really helped with the weight loss and I have no immediate plans to stop them (because I'm convinced of the other health benefits) but it's the non-fast-day eating (2/5 of them, anyway!) which has been the more lasting change. Even if I stopped fast days I know that I won't go back to carbs and wine on week nights (unless I'm out, in which case all bets are off Grin)

HairsprayBabe · 17/03/2017 08:02

I wish I was on holiday rather than stuck in my freezing cold office... with a Key West Cooler rather than my "Detox Tea"

Had an omelette for dinner at MIL and am weighing in at 11.3 been stuck around that for a while and would really like to keep going down this weekend rather than springing back up!

-4 for the month so far onwards and downwards losers Wink

FreeNiki · 17/03/2017 13:40

I still cant use the boditrax machine, wish the gym would fix it, however on the regular scale I appear to be 67kg. Which is a linda loss of 1.5 since last time.

QuimReaper · 17/03/2017 14:04

I can recommend the Mortal Terror Diet. Down 1.5kg.

Sad

Quim what happened?

I do like your two fast, two good then it's the weekend. I too am going to take that on and have found a notepad and pen I like. I feel much better. I think I've been a bit scatty aka lazy and thinking cutting out crisps is my problem, when actually, there is a lot more to work on.

I'm about to collect one dc, one will be home later and then I'm having a reading and bathing evening while they amuse themselves for once.

Stellar67 · 17/03/2017 14:45

Ahh, sorry Quim, just remembered your dad. How is he? Flowers
