Here's anew thread for Coddy's recruits.

The old thread is here

For the record, I started out (May 19) at 11 stone 2 and am now 10 and a half stone A total loss of 9 pounds

Coddy's potential wrath has been inspirational! Plus of course the support of the rest of you (although the thread does go quiet at times).

OP posts:

coddy's the reigning queen but she's flounced off so you'll have to hang around for full instructions.

I didn't have to do any initiation but now you've given coddy that idea, she'll probably invent one for you!!!

What I did was eat less (BIG panic!!), which worked brilliantly at the start but then tailed off with my willpower!!! Then I forced myself to go walking a lot (stops you eating too!!). Now I'm down to having 10lbs to lose and beetroot's spurred me on by giving me the mantra "I must not be a lardy arse" - and atm I'm filling myself up on jelly and staying off the 'bad' things!!!

Thomcat · 06/07/2004 18:47

God -that sounds awful WK! I really do have zero willpower. Already I don't want to do this!!!!!

Pkayso Coddy is queen, I know that, but in her absence what do you think of this so far today

  • 1 bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes
  • feta cheese salad and chargrilled chicken
  • grapes
  • two cups of tea both with 3 sugars in! dinner will be stir fry veg, noodles and a chicken breast that I'll let sit in freshly squeezed lemon before cooking it. I'll also drink at least half a bottle of white wine.
Thomcat · 06/07/2004 18:51

Oh God - it's bad isn't it. Is it??? I can't be much better than that tbh.
WK - WHERE ARE YOU ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 18:52

that sounds ok - am sure coddy will have more to say though!!! I find the only way I can do it is to calorie count though, else I just lose track of how much I can eat and whether the exercise I've done will really do any good or if I should be doing more etc. You don't have to do it religiously, just do a rough total of how many cals are in the food you're eating - some are suprisingly high or surprisingly low.

Sorry if it sounds awful, but when you've lost a bit of weight, you really feel like it was worth it. People keep asking me if I've lost weight now and it's fab!!!

The other thing that helps is if you have loads of low-fat snacks available. My latest craze is sugar-free jelly because you could eat a whole bowl of it for under 100cals, but veggie sticks are good too. Do you snack much? (that was my main problem)

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 18:52

Sorry!!! Have dd on lap so can't type fast!!!

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 18:53

Also, add LOADS (shed-loads) of veg/salad to every meal (and eat it of course), so that you get away with eat less fatty stuff.

Thomcat · 06/07/2004 18:56

no I don't really snack but eat late, eat lots of pasta, drink a lot of wine. I love food, that';s my main problem.

So how many calories do I have to eat a day?

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 18:57

Should eat about 1500 to maintain weight, so any less than that will make you lose it. You can exercise to burn up more cals, but make sure you eat at least 1000cals.

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 18:59

wine is unfortunately high in cals - fancy some squash instead???

bundle · 06/07/2004 19:01

TC - 3 sugars????

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:02

wean yourself off - have 2 and a half, then 2 etc until you don't have any

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:05

The only other solution is the more drastic one of eat brekkie, then skip lunch and have dinner. That cuts down on the calories!!!

..or just exercise LOADS

Sorry, but it really is no pain no gain.

Thomcat · 06/07/2004 19:05

I've weaned myself off 6 sugars!!!!!!!!
He heeee I know, I know, but that was a while ago. I hate anything less that 3 sugars, tastes foul. Might just have to give up tea and coffee! Certainly not giving up halfa bottle of wine a night. How many cals in 1/s bottle white wine girls?

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:06

Also (you've uncorked my dieting tips fountain now!) - make a diary of what you're eating and work out how many cals it is, see what you usually eat and that should show you where you're 'going wrong'.

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:07

Dry or sweet tc?

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:08

120mls is typically about 87 cals.

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:09

THIS is excellent for helping you work out the calorie values of stuff.

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:10

Specifically here

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:18

tc - have you fainted on me??

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 19:22

Ok, I'm off to eat more jelly and resist the temptation to weigh myself (only ever weigh yourself once a week, at the same time of day).

Thomcat · 06/07/2004 19:23

he heeeee, no I'm here, I just did a bit or paid work, shock, horror!!!!!!!

Thanks WK - you're a real star.
Writing it all down is a good idea and makes you realise what a pig you've been!!!!

The steak with a very rich sauce, 3 bottles of wine and an ameretto that I had last night won't have done me any good aye! Oh and the sandwich with cheese and ham on white soft bread the nusrsery made me and the cornish pasty my mym made me!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 21:46

It definitely helps when you write it down - you DO realise what little things have 'crept in' there!!!

codswallop · 06/07/2004 22:01

right then young missy tc

"- 1 bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes

  • feta cheese salad and chargrilled chicken
  • grapes
  • two cups of tea both with 3 sugars in! dinner will be stir fry veg, noodles and a chicken breast that I'll let sit in freshly squeezed lemon before cooking it. I'll also drink at least half a bottle of white wine. "

well.

breakfast sugar laden and probably not filling

Lunch feta AND chicekn really? I think just one of those would hav e done - and dressing too?

wobblyknicks · 06/07/2004 22:03

tc - you can see who's good cop and bad cop here!!!

codswallop · 06/07/2004 22:06
