Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Malmsey well done so far, you're doing brilliantly cracking 15000 steps a day! 20lbs in 20 weeks is a great target and def doable. Good luck!

Wild congrats on the half pound off! Ooh I love Kefalonia, I went a long time ago now, but it was a perfect holiday and agree the food is super delish. Funny how Greek salads you try to recreate at home taste absolutely nothing like the ones on holiday isn't it?!

Wobbly pleased people are really noticing now, I bet you've transformed! Lol at the dog looking at you jogging. My jog is so slow that my dog hardly has to break into a trot. I'm sure he wonders what all the fuss is about! Well done on your dieting demon and I'm loving your theme tune!

Hesdeadjim welcome to our lovely supportive little thread. A year is a perfect amount of time to really make a difference in time for your wedding. You'll be in dress heaven!

Fatgirl amazing getting into the 12s. Well done, you're doing incredibly! Hope the pre-hol prep is going ok. Sometimes you have got to let your hair down and just enjoy yourself. Don't go mad, but enjoy and savour small portions of the food you don't normally allow yourself and hopefully you won't do too much damage.

Fairfax whoop whoop on your 5.5lbs off, you nailed it!! And well done for KOKO even when you've had a stupidly busy couple of weeks. That's what it's all about. Success isn't a straight line and we have to live and cope with what life throws at us, then dust ourselves down and carry on. Good on you!

Holy and Pippa big wave over to you both. Glad you're still with us, you will get back to it when you're ready.

Dowser you're a Fitbit demon and amazing that you're getting into size 14s! I'm getting into some 16s, but quite a long way off a size 14. Must be wonderful to be able to shop where you like...enjoy!

Duchess a holiday in August is a brilliant target for you. I agree with Dowser on the Fitbit, mine def gets me out walking more.

I've had a good week with 2lbs off and lots of gym classes, but I'm slightly scared as it's my birthday this week and lots of celebrating with different friends/family planned, including a boozy girls weekend away next weekend. So, I'll be as good as I can, but it may all go out the window, because by 'eck I'm going to enjoy it! Grin

Stats on their way....

Quick check in- 3lbs off today, so 65lbs total loss! Much better than last week, going to a family thing in 3 weeks time so feel really motivated to aim for the 5 Stone target.

In other news I've found a gym buddy- nervous about going but I know my friend will be really supportive and keep me motivated. 10stones you have inspired me. Need to get some kit to wear(and industrial strength bra), but it will be 3 sizes smaller than I was!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

10stonestolose · 01/05/2017 17:54

Wobbly another 3lbs, that's fantastic! Well done recruiting a gym buddy, I'm sure it will be just the motivation you need. I'm heading to my powerwalking class in a bit, believe me, I would definitely be crying off if my friend wasn't there.

Wow, and loving this thread. Very inspirational. You and I have the same starting stats 10stone...I'm also guessing you're the same height as me from your milestones (5'7?)
Please tell me your secrets! I am sick to death of sciatica and avoiding photos of myself with my children due to being a fat ugly mess Sad

bubbalootie · 01/05/2017 18:27

Hi
I have 10st to lose and I'm trying to quit night time junk snacking and concentrate on improving my health and control portion sizes. I hope I can join in with this group as you all seem very supportive and friendly. Happy Monday everyone :) xxx

bubbalootie · 01/05/2017 18:29

Hi introverted! We are the same height and I feel just the same re photos!

10stonestolose · 01/05/2017 20:44

Hi and welcome along introvert and bubba, good to have you aboard!

Yes I'm 5.7 too Smile

My only tips are that low carb gets rid of most of my cravings and an exercise buddy gets me off my comfy sofa almost every day. Like you both, I literally can't bear to look at photos of myself.

I am just so determined that this time I have to do it, I just KOKO and this thread has really helped keep me in the right mindset - we have a really lovely bunch here.

Good luck and come and let me know a know how you're getting on!

Introvertedbuthappy · 01/05/2017 21:41

Hi bubba as well!
I did a Davina workout tonight so felling pretty good about that (may be paying for it tomorrow though!)
I think I might try low carb, high fatting. My only question is what do you have for lunches? I need something to pack up for work.

bubbalootie · 01/05/2017 22:45

Hey I'm sitting next to dh while he is snacking- I have had a hot chocolate so I'm not feeling deprived but it's going to be tough.
I have explained what I am trying to do so I hope he will be supportive...

FatGirlWithChocolate · 02/05/2017 06:46

I'm probably silly but I'm not overly fussed on the bmi chart..given that if I make it down to 10 stone I would have lost 8.5 stone but still the doctor could say I was bordering on the overweight category by a margin of a pound or two...it just seems wrong somehow (and I know it's a cliche but I really am naturally large framed - my thumb and fingers don't meet if I wrap them round my wrist (which is one of the tests for frame size)..which means that at 10 stone I would be (relative to frame size) fairly slim, if that makes sense?)

FatGirlWithChocolate · 02/05/2017 06:47

Apologies, think I was replying to a post about bmi nearer the start of the thread!

swlondonnanny · 02/05/2017 07:36

Morning ladies
Thank you for all the positive comments last week.
I am doing my version of low carb high fat diet where I aim to have 30-40 grams of carbs a day (as recommended for my thyroid issues) and more fat than proteins. No idea if I got the ratio right but it seems to be working for the moment so will just carry on with it. I am also trying to incorporate bits of 8 hour diet (timing wise not food wise) and see if it benefits me or not.
My weight this morning 124.1kg
Staring weight 138.5kg (13 March)
Week 1 -2.5kg
Week 2 -1.2kg
Week 3 - 3.7kg
Week 4 +0.1kg
Week 5 -1.8kg
Week 6 -2.5kg
Week 7 -2.8kg
Next goal is to get under BMI 35 which would be 113 kg....

swlondonnanny · 02/05/2017 08:32

Oh and I am 5'11 so have larger amount of weight to lose to get to lower BMI bracket...

MalmseyWhine · 02/05/2017 09:41

Malmey's 20 in 20 mini challenge

Let's do this then. 20lbs in 20 weeks whilst I am working in my current job.
Aiming for 10k+ steps 5 days per week
Minimum 5k steps on remaining 2 days
Week 1 has already begun, weigh in on Friday.

Have a good week everyone Smile.

10stonestolose · 02/05/2017 10:45

introvert great start with the Davina DVD, I've got one of those lurking on my bookshelf and remember it to be quite tough. I'm jealous of her abs! For low-carb lunches I often have to take packing up, so usually take 4 skinny 200g Tupperwares (to fit in laptop bag) with something like 1) leftover strips of Chicken, ham or mackerel, 2) 2 or 3 Babybels , 3) raw almonds and 4) chopped strawberries. I sometimes add a small salad. That normally fills me until dinner time.

bubba I imagine it's hard when your DH isn't dieting too. Mine is but, as he's only lost a stone in 4 months, I suspect he cheats a lot when I'm not around! It's fine as long as I don't have to see it. I seem to be ok with my DD eating stuff around me, but Easter was really testing.

fatgirl you're absolutely right on the BMI thing, it's certainly not that important. I'm pretty large framed too and will look really slim just under 10st... in fact anything under 11 and I look slim (I think 11.6 is the top of the healthy scale for my height though).

nanny another fantastic loss, 2.8lbs! Well done! I think you must be being quite a lot stricter than me with the carbs. I'm super lazy and don't count anything, so I imagine some days I have far more than I should.

malmsey your mini challenge, is a great idea! That should keep you on the straight and narrow and almost a stone and a half off at the end of it, you'll be feeling wonderful (and probably a dress size smaller!)

I'm working today, so will have to try and squeeze in a dog walk later before an hour and a half of yoga tonight. Tomorrow onwards might get difficult this week for me, starting with lunch with the girls tomorrow and no exercise planned.

Sorry Tupperware are 200ml, not 200g. Someone on this thread recommended them, apologies, I can't remember who.

And Nanny I've done you an injustice, it's 2.8kgs not 2.8lbs! Sorry about that.

OP posts:
Introvertedbuthappy · 02/05/2017 20:48

Thanks 10stone, that's useful. Have packed a Tupperware box with baby leaf salad, cucumber, chicken breast, halloumi and a tablespoon of quinoa for lunch tomorrow. Am concentrating on not eating crap this week (am a person who rewards myself with food, commiserates myself with food...Any excuse!) Need to break the stress eating. DH has said he'll help by treating me at different milestones - eg he will book and pay for a mini facial for me once I lose 1 stone.

bubbalootie · 03/05/2017 11:34

Yay! I've lost 3lb since Friday! It's the first weight I have lost since I simultaneously broke my left ankle and sprained my right in November Smile

Introvertedbuthappy · 03/05/2017 19:23

Yay! Well done bubba!
I'm going to weigh in on Monday - 1 week since I started. Just had some home made chicken curry and will do some Davina later (if DS2 ever goes to sleep...)

FairfaxAikman · 03/05/2017 22:38

Urgh - which of my bosses had the idea of torturing the fat-girl-on-a-diet by putting her on MasterChef-watching duty?

I so want that chocolate and hazelnut torte! (All 32 portions)

bubbalootie · 04/05/2017 14:34

I love masterchef but it makes me so hungry Confused

MalmseyWhine · 05/05/2017 07:34

20 in 20 mini challenge
20lbs in 20 weeks

Week 1 - loss 3.4lbs 3.4/20

Very pleased to show a loss this week after hovering around the same point for a bit. The extra activity helps, although I haven't had a chance to run this week, and I've done 2 proper FDs.

Musn't get too pleased with myself though as today is my birthday so cake and cocktails will feature prominently over the next couple of days! Fasting resumes on Monday.

CrazyDuchess · 05/05/2017 08:45

Have really struggling these last few weeks so have now signed up to a "eat for health" course that teaches healthy eating and gentle exercise... gah I hate all of this Sad
