Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Thank you for the support everyone. I keep fantasising about being signed off work and spending a few months getting on top of the house and my diet and exercise regime.

I feel like I need headspace to do this but then I realise deep down that it isn't realistic to feel that way. When it was winter I kept thinking that it would be easier when it was warmer/longer days and now those are here it suddenly isn't enough either!

FairfaxAikman · 22/04/2017 12:10

Well I've had a good and bad week.
I ate an entire jar of Nutella - with a spoon.
However I dug out my Fitbit, which I haven't worn since my wedding (two years ago) and am racking up Fit points- 94 (target 46) last week.

CrazyDuchess · 22/04/2017 12:15

Well done on the fitbit points and an even bigger well done on a jar of Nutella.... how??!!?? Lol

Do you think a fitbit is worth it, does it motivate you to do more exercise?

FairfaxAikman · 22/04/2017 13:40

It encourages me to walk a bit further

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 08:57

Pippa how are you doing? Hope you've found your starting point and feeling better about things.

Fairfax a whole jar of Nutella is a mean feat, but well done on the Fitbit. I find mine makes me walk a bit more too.

I'm pretty pleased with a 3lbs loss this morning, so I feel like I've made up for last week's small loss. I did another bodypump class yesterday and believe me, I feel like I might not make it back up every time I squat or lunge! ! It's so hard and I've been aching all over all week. Back to the gym this morning though, just to do our cardio/weights programme.

I have started to notice my shape improving, particularly my back fat seems to have really reduced and my waist is noticeably more defined. I'm still huge, but the exercise is definitely starting to tone me up. I've been running for about 6 weeks now and at the gym for 3 weeks, doing either a class (bodypump/bodybalance/yoga/powerwalking/spinning) or programme almost every day. I ran three 4K runs with the dog this week too, so I'm really doing as much as I possibly can. Lots of clothes are getting too big, I really need to have a proper sort out before the really nice weather gets here.

Have a great week everyone, summer will be here before we know it!

Stats to follow....

Well done 10 your dedication truly inspires me!

So have not done toon well this weekend, feeling kinda bummed out so totally ate my feelings this weekend - gah I could kick myself. It was a full blown binge session.
I seek a little comfort that this mornings scales are not reflective because of one days binging... but still rather pissed off!

Week 9

Current weight: 124.0kg
Loss this week: 0.2kg

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 09:44

Thanks Duchess! Looks like you may have got away with it, so just clamber quickly back onto the old wagon today and you'll be fine. Shame we don't all live in the same area, we could all motivate each other. Wouldn't we be a force to be reckoned with then?! Imagine us taking up a whole row of treadmills at the gym Grin I'd be dragging you along to the gym with me this morning deffo!

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 09:46

Oh and congrats on the loss. Just remember any loss is still a loss and getting you that little bit closer to the finish line Flowers

OP posts:
CrazyDuchess · 23/04/2017 10:02

That's exactly what I need - someone to drag my ass to the gym! Sigh
We would totally be a force to reckon with Grin

Yes a loss is a loss is a loss and today is a new day!
Roll on next week!

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 11:36

Yes, totally right, today's a new day! I'm so pleased I have my friend coming to the gym with me, I'd just make excuses if it was just me. It's so much more motivating if you've said you'll meet someone there, you'd feel really shitty letting them down. Did an hour of cardio machines (lateral, stairclimber, rower and treadmill) and some weights and now just sitting in the cafe pleased its over Smile

I'm still struggling to be honest. I cancelled a night out last night because I didn't have anything nice to wear and yet I still went out for brunch this morning with a friend so it still hasn't spurred me back into action. I think I feel like the mountain is too hard to climb at the moment - I might try for an early night tonight (everything is easier after a good night's sleep) and try and see it in half stones. Thanks for checking in and well done on your progress so far! I'm lurking and learning!

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 15:05

Thanks Pippa! you're doing the right thing looking and lurking. Monday's are definitely easier to make a fresh start than at the weekend. If I could bottle that 'head in the zone' feeling, I'd be a very rich woman! It's a timing thing, I tried and failed all through last year. Yet this year I just knew I was in the zone, but have absolutely no idea what changed. it's hard to explain, but it's almost like it can't be forced, you just know when it clicks. You will get there and because you feel like you've hit rock bottom, I suspect that feeling will click in for you very soon. Good luck, we're here if you need us x

Late to join this, but started at 18 1/2 stone, and just 2 lbs away from having lost 5 1/2 stone. Still another 3 1/2 -4 to go. Don't know if I will make it, but I hope so.

10stonestolose · 23/04/2017 21:21

Wow Fatgirl, what an amazing achievement! Well done you! Great to have you on board. How did you lose it? Any tips?

OP posts:
FatGirlWithChocolate · 24/04/2017 04:58

Thank you, that is very kind of you! No tips..I've just swam, walked, basically fasted a lot (variations of the 5:2/Alternate Day Fasting), taken a lot of detours, gone up a bit and then down again, and not given up. That's about it really. Just keep going. That's the thing I think, just keep going..even when you aren't feeling it, or you think that it's not working (it still is)..keep going.

10stonestolose · 24/04/2017 06:17

Fatgirl you're really inspiring. It's reassuring and good to know that your attitude of just not giving up works. Our KOKO motto on this thread is what I keep telling myself when it feels like it's not working. We just all have to keep going and we will get there, however many detours it takes. You'll need a new username soon Slimgirlwithchocolate? One day* next year I will change my username to 10stoneslost* Smile

Well checking in after what is quite frankly a Diet Disappointment of a weekend Blush.

Started on Friday with good intentions but eating out with friends on Friday went off plan & then again BBQing Saturday off plan - Cake, Onion Rings & Booze you bastards!!!!

Weigh in this morning and 1.5lbs off which is a loss to be grateful for, but can feel the resolve waning so I need to re-focus and get on with it!

Welcome Sparkle & Fatgirl.

Crazy I can empathize with you- it's a slog with no immediate results & how you are feeling is completely valid. I'm trying to find positives in the small things and ticking off every morning & afternoon on a calendar at the moment to try and achieve small chunks of achievement.

10Stones You are truly smashing 3lbs off - well done! Your exercise motivation is fab as well.

Awww Pippa don't let it get you down, you will get there. Flowers.

Monday = fresh week, fresh start & I have a clean slate to go at. I am choosing Eye of the Tiger as my internal theme today!

PippaFawcett · 24/04/2017 12:23

FatGirl, that is amazing! Well done!

10stonestolose · 24/04/2017 13:53

Wobbly thank you and well done on your 1.5lbs off despite a full on weekend. Sounds like it was fun though! You must be getting on for 5 stones off now? You are a dieting machine! I bet you're looking amazing, I hope you're getting lots of lovely compliments at your social events?!

I really don't know where my exercise motivation is coming from, it doesn't even sound like me! I was at yoga at 7.15am this morning and I'm back at the gym tonight for a powerwalking class. I think I must have been secretly hypnotised Smile

CrazyDuchess · 25/04/2017 06:10

Seriously 10 sell me some of your exercise mojo!

Thank you Lotsa yes I think i am becoming overwhelmed with the bigger picture of 50kg to lose, when i need to focus on each kg as it comes off. Still heading in the right direction - just annoyed it isn't falling off at speed! Lol.

swlondonnanny · 25/04/2017 06:35

Monsterpage how are you? Yes, it does stink.... how is your diet going? Are you sure 1000 calories a day is enough for you? I also wanted to mention that I did quite a bit of research about hypothyroidism and low carbing (if you what you are doing) and with thyroid issues you shouldn't go under 30grams of carbs a day ....
