10stonestolose · 03/01/2017 12:18

Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Yes I've heard good things about Zumba but I'd struggle to get to classes between the child and work and everything else in between.

Hmm maybe a YouTube video at home??

I agree i utterly hate exercise

This is me

10 stones, 140 lbs, a whole bloody person to lose!! Anyone else?
swlondonnanny · 27/03/2017 07:29

Good morning everyone,
Sorry for all these very brief messages , life is hectic at the moment.
Still trying to figure out what exactly I am doing with my diet and what I can / can't eat etc.
Well done everyone for losses and for keeping going.
My weight this morning 134.8kg
Staring weight 138.5kg
Week one -2.5kg
Week two -1.2kg

MalmseyWhine · 27/03/2017 10:50

I learned I don't like exercise duchess! It was more someone to make me do it, and do it for an hour rather than 3 minutes and then going to the cafe for a cake
I probably could replicate what we did in sessions but I just hate hate hate exercise and can find pretty much any reason not to do it

Holy This made me laugh so much - I could have written it myself!

Back here for motivation - I have struggled to complete a full FD for a couple of weeks although have managed to stay under 1000 calories a few times. Forunately, I've only gained 1lb since my lowest weigh in but I was doing really well up until we went to Berlin and I now seem to have broken my stride Sad.

Love reading about everyone's progress though.

OhHolyFuck · 27/03/2017 10:59

Malmsey haha I'm glad I made you smile, if only it weren't so true!

2lb off this week, 1stone 4.5lb off altogether

Would go for the stone and a half next week but the next 3 weigh-ins, the kids are off school - the last school holidays, I put 3lb on just in one week so I'm really apprehensive about 3 weeks 'off'

dm86 · 27/03/2017 11:58

Can I join you all please?

I knew I'd got bigger and bigger but just ignored it really but I feel so unfit now as just realised I have a hell of a lot to lose! I know what to do I just need to put it into practice as I don't want my 3dc losing out because of my weight. I've just done 30mins exercise. I don't get much time and used to love going to exercise classes but have just discovered Les Mills on Demand so I can do bodycombat at home! Hopefully that should motivate me. I also drink too much fizzy drinks, alcopops and very little water. Today I have had 1.5ltrs of water so far. I just need to keep motivated and I hope coming on here and talking to you all will help. Why did I let myself get in this state in the first place!!

Starting weight: 19st (BMI 41.6)
Current weight: 19st (41.6)
Goal: 11st 7lbs (BMI 24.7)

Total lost: 0lb
Total to lose: 7st 7lb
Left to lose: 7st 7lb

I would ideally like to be 10st but little steps! Even just to get back into the overweight band would be better than being obese! Good luck everyone else and keep up the good work :-)

WildImaginings · 27/03/2017 13:09

Can I join in please?

I started slimming world at the beginning of January weighing 20st 13lb and at a size 22. I'm only 5'2 Blush

It's definitely the biggest I've ever been. I've always been 'big' but started putting weight on from when I started uni at 19. I was a size 14 back then.

I'm 25, no kids, and I could just feel my life basically slipping away from me.

I've lost 2st 10 since the start of January. Weigh in is later on today but I haven't had the best last couple of weeks, so I'm a bit nervous Confused

My interim target was 3 stone by the time of my holiday at the end of May (although I've got a lot more to lose in total), but if I could lose 4 stone total by then then I'd be ecstatic.

I don't even want to be skinny; I'd just love to be a size 14 again.

ShuttyTown · 27/03/2017 14:46

I'll join too please.

Weight: 21s 1lb
Goal: 10s
To Lose: 11s 1lb

I've started today by just cutting down (although I've eaten a fudge bar and 3 rich tea biscuits 😡😡) and I have ordered the 5:2 diet book. I have PCOS so find it extremely hard to lose weight but I need to do it. I have two young kids and don't want to leave them without a mother.

NarcsBegone · 27/03/2017 21:46

Sympathies to those struggling. I'm calling a halt and starting again Thursday! I've fucked up loads and I'm just giving in until then. Its my birthday tomorrow and have friends coming over then meal out Wednesday. Ds has been ill since last Thursday and I've not slept much and period is hanging around I think (on implant so sometimes don't have a full on one). I've been beating myself up about it rightly so and I'm calling an amnesty.
I keep having excuses and I'm not going to do that after Thursday, it's ridiculous! Its like as soon as I start seeing a result I self sabotage.

I used to be very active generally and when younger attended the gym several times a week but due to illness I can't do a lot of exercise now. I hate the gym now and have for years, the thought of it makes me shudder. I did like swimming up until about 2 years ago when my back got really really bad. It's really hard to motivate yourself to do something you just don't enjoy.

I'll check in again next week and hope you all have a good rest of the week Smile

FairfaxAikman · 27/03/2017 22:41

I get so fucking angry at DF sometimes!

He is actually part of my weight problem, with his dismissive attitude leading to my comfort eating - he once said to my face he "hates fat people".

Anyhoo, while most people are congratulating me on 20lb so far he indirectly takes a pop. He was actually ranting about my uncle's weight (ex-rugby player, stopped playing but kept eating) and while both I and DGM were defending him, he came out with "it isn't that hard, [Not-so-DSis] has lost 13lb in a fortnight".

Now apart from the fact that my sister is fucking skinny anyway (Not-so-DM's genes) it totally undermines my weight loss, as he obviously thinks i'm not trying hard enough Angry

CrazyDuchess · 28/03/2017 05:52

Oh Fairfax - what makes me laugh is when p3ople say "it's so easy" Angry if it was so easy we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic would we?

So next time he makes a dismissive or negative comments, laugh and laugh hard... then walk away.

Don't engage with his negativity, he isn't helping you with that attitude.

(I should caveat this with I am totally single and have very little tolerance for bullshit)

Theworldisfullofidiots · 28/03/2017 08:55

So gardened and did allotment at the weekend until I couldn't move. Did I shift a lb? did I sausage. Away at the moment at a funeral. Will weigh next Monday and see. Will start food diary when I get back.

swlondonnanny · 28/03/2017 09:12

Fairfax it is so sad when people closest to us who should support us actually make our life much more difficult....
Do you need to see your DF often?

Lotsawobblybits · 28/03/2017 13:23

Flowers Fairfax some people can be so insensitive. The 'just eat less and move more' crew get on my tits & they are never people who have struggled. Everyone has an opinion, but the only one that counts is your own!

Welcome to all newcomers to our lovely supportive thread.

Happy Birthday Narcs enjoy your break week, eat, drink - be merry Wine.

I think that I am allergic to exercise, I get all hot and sweaty, my skin gets all red and flushed with shortness of breath Wink

2.5lb off this week, not enough walking & ate too much Sunday. Did a fast day yesterday to try to pull it back a bit on damage limitation.
Have a good day everyone.

FairfaxAikman · 28/03/2017 19:16

Doing an experiment for work on the new £1 coins, seeing who would accept them.
Took the opportunity to go into my favourite independent artisan chocolatier and buy this. I love Bean to Bar stuff (though my favourite Peruvian stuff was out of stock).
I've decided to have it when I reach my mini goal of 16st.

10 stones, 140 lbs, a whole bloody person to lose!! Anyone else?
ShuttyTown · 29/03/2017 12:28

How is everyone doing? The thread seems to be slowing down... I need some motivation! I'm really scared I've got sleep apnea due to my weight so desperately just want to lose weight instead of going to the GP and having one of those awful CPAP machines. I've been doing well on my diet since Monday, cut out snacking on chocolate and down to only one pack of crisps a day (these are big achievements for me!!) I'm having porridge for breakfast, apple for snack, sandwich and pack of crisps for lunch, 3 rich tea biscuits and a cuppa for mid afternoon then dinner as normal, then a cup of tea and a chocolate bar as my treat. I know this doesn't sound great but for me that's really cutting down so I'm starting there for now!

harderandharder2breathe · 29/03/2017 12:45

It's been slow progress but I've lost my first stone! 9 more to go

CrazyDuchess · 29/03/2017 12:51

Well done harder I also lost my first stone on Sunday so rather pleased with myself!

shutty are you tracking your calories? Just to get an understanding of how much you are taking in?

user1475500324 · 29/03/2017 13:17

I have at least 8 or 9 stone to lose to feel healthy...It is so daunting.

I struggle the most with alcohol! I can have a really great day foodwise and show lots of willpower but then ruin it all with a couple of glasses of wine and some crisps - adding easily another 600 calories to my day! It is my hardest barrier to overcome! Anyway I am trying - I have lost 2st 5lbs on my journey so far (although that has taken a year and a half so not great effort!) and I am determined to keep going. This is a great place for motivation. I also use Instagram which is great.

What are your vices ladies? Sorry if I am late to this and It has already been discussed! xx

ShuttyTown · 29/03/2017 13:30

@CrazyDuchess yes been using MFP and I can't keep it under then 1500, it's normally about 1700, but this is a massive decrease from my normal intake so it's a starting block for me.

ShuttyTown · 29/03/2017 13:31

My vices @user1475500324 are chocolate and crisps! I have been good in cutting these right down but could do better

PinotAndPlaydough · 29/03/2017 13:58

Hi all, I've been absent for two weeks, my daughters have had chicken pox. The stress and the boredom of being stuck in doors has equated to some pretty shocking food choices Blush however by some miracle I managed to maintain my weight of 16st 6lbs for those two weeks and this week I've lost 2lbs taking me down to 16st 4lb.

Those two crappy weeks have really messed with my head though and I feel like I'm starting over again. I'm finding it hard to break the habits that I slipped so easily back into (snacking in the evening especially). I'm determined to get into that 15st bracket, hopefully by Easter.
I have a night out planned for the 12th and for the first time am actually looking forward to choosing some new clothes for it as I can go to a bigger range of shops.

I haven't had a chance to catch up on this thread but hope everyone's journey is progressing well.

CrazyDuchess · 29/03/2017 13:59

That's good shutty you should still see a drop in weight at 1700. It's def a positive step in the right direction!

Oohh user coffee and alcohol are my vices. I've given up the daily latte habit (even if it was a skinny, with extra shots) and until last weekend I've been dry for 5 weeks so I think that helped!

I just love prosecco so much.... and once the bottle is open, I have to finish it.... it's better not to buy it at all!

ShuttyTown · 29/03/2017 14:39

Thanks @CrazyDuchess I'm hoping so! My weigh day is a Monday so I'll report back then. Just got to make it through my first weekend on a diet now. That's always a tough one for me Blush

OhHolyFuck · 29/03/2017 14:47

Vices? Anything with sugar!

Not fussed about savoury stuff like crisps or nuts at all, happy to only have minimal cheese etc and drink only in company and I'm a lone parent so you can imagine how frequently that gets to happen!

But chocolate, cake, biscuits and I just can't stop myself!
