Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

I ache all over today from my swim, but that must have meant that I have done some good, right?

Good luck trying on your dresses, 10stones. I turn down so many invitations because I haven't got any nice clothes/feel shit about myself or embarrassed because I will see people from the past who haven't seen how much weight I have put on Sad

PippaFawcett · 18/03/2017 07:37

But, I have just weighed myself and I have ducked below 17stone which was my aim for yesterday! I am now 16.13.06!! Yay!

FairfaxAikman · 18/03/2017 10:07

I have had a horrendous couple of weeks where I have put on a total of 4.5lb.
Firstly was just eating crap and the second was down to munching while baking a 5-tier celebration cake (complete with Italian meringue buttercream, an M&M centre and fondant) for a friend.
This week I not only lost what I gained, but an extra 3lb as well. (7.5 total)
Moral of the story is victory can come from complete and utter disaster.

PippaFawcett · 18/03/2017 12:00

Wow! Congratulations Fairfax! I must admit that the cake sounds amazing so I can understand why you found that difficult. Is it wrong that I want to see a photo?! Even though it would be torture! How have you lost it all?

NarcsBegone · 18/03/2017 12:00

This fell of my threads I'm on! So checking in.
I am hungover so not read everything as can't focus. I rarely drink these days so I'm feeling a little delicate Confused
I haven't weighed but know I've put on a couple of lbs as I haven't been as strict on non fast days.

10stonestolose · 18/03/2017 15:06

Pippa Brilliant loss and great news getting into the 16s. Yes the worst thing is seeing people who you haven't seen since you were slim, it causes me massive anxiety too. Luckily tonight is all people who've only really known me 15 stones plus, so I'm ok.

Fairfax Great turnaround, well done on your loss! Meringue buttercream icing sounds like something rather wonderful, totally understand you caving with that alone!

Narcs Hope the hangover is on its way out by now and the night was a good one. Be kind to yourself today and clamber back on the wagon tomorrow.

Good news is that I've found a dress for tonight without too much tearing my hair out. It was too tight, but now a great fit and it looks pretty good (well as good as I can look at this weight!). Having a chilled afternoon, just done my nails and think I'll curl my hair later. At least I'll look my best.

Pippa I was ill for three days, which likely helped!

Cake was awesome, even if I do say so myself

PippaFawcett · 18/03/2017 17:14

Omg that looks amazing. The DC have gone to my DMs for a rare night and usually we would go for a meal out but we aren't to save calories, so DH and I are at a loss for what to do with ourselves!

I am also massively craving sugar - I have got a massive craving for banoffee pie at the moment. Argh!

10stonestolose · 19/03/2017 11:23

That's a heavenly looking cake Fairfax! Hope you managed to beat the sugar cravings Pippa.

I'm feeling slightly delicate this morning...the Ginflowed a bit too freely last night, but i had great fun, I felt quite good in my dress black opaque tights hide a multitude of sins and even danced! Only one pound off at this morning's weigh-in, but quite pleased with that considering my socialising this week and my chaotic TOTM. And I've lost 2.5 stones...a quarter of a bloody person. So 25% of this mammoth task is done and dusted!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend so far.

Stats to follow....

Incredible! Well done! I hope I can post similar stats in a few weeks. I did not beat the cravings last night and ate everything I could get my hands on. I am starting afresh again today and trying to plan ahead more, lack of planning for evening meals is a big flashpoint time for me. I need to plan food I actually like!

CrazyDuchess · 19/03/2017 16:54

Checking in for week 4!

Been a rough couple of days totally blew it yesterday on a birthday drip - there was alcohol ice-cream and a huge burger.... so today only 0.1kg drop but I am taking it! I am also due on so probably holding a little bit of water weight but will see what next week brings!

Thank you for your welcome last week.

Had a busy /stressful week DH in hospital (planned hip replacement which went well but still stressful) , kept to my diet as much as I could and managed my 10000 steps most of the days.
You are all my inspiration, thank you for such a supportive thread

OhHolyFuck · 20/03/2017 11:06

Well done everyone, there's some cracking losses and some real pma going on here!

Lost 2.5lb this week so dead chuffed with that, least that's the 1lb on gone from last week and a little more too

Want a real 'kick-ass, can do it' week this week, want everyday to be as in plan as I can possibly make it, I've nothing planned to distract so thinking I could really ramp it up this week this may fall by the wayside at the first sign of cake!
Anyone else fancy a full throttle week?!

NarcsBegone · 20/03/2017 12:43

The losses are brilliant! Well done everyone.
I'm hiding from my scales until next Monday. I've had a lot going on food wise with celebrations and meals out this past week or so. I gain if I so much as sniff food so I'm working super hard this week with the aim of being what I was last time I weighed at the least Smile

BowiesBlueEye · 20/03/2017 15:40

Hello. I'm hoping for a big loss on my next weigh in, 1lb off this weekend (Saturday is my WI day). I've been shopping today and I've bought everything I need to stay on the wagon this week.

Tonight we are having a roast dinner, but I'm going to have a third of what I'd normally have.

I've set my alarm for 6am and I plan on getting some exercise in before the school run. I don't normally get up until 7 when DS2 wakes up. It's gong to be difficult as DS2 has been ill for 4 days so he's been waking at night plus DS1 is autistic so barely sleeps. This means I'm exhausted most days but I need to start pushing through or I will never lose the weight.

Lots of late nights say up with DS1 and snacking plus giving up smoking 2 years ago has seen me pile on the weight. I weigh more now than when I was pregnant!

PippaFawcett · 20/03/2017 19:53

Bowie, sleep deprivation from the DC is when my weight gain really intensified. I use/used sugar to power me through the day so you have my sympathy. Good luck with your run, I can't quite bring myself to start couch to 5k yet. I haven't had a good day today, it was a buffet lunch at a client meeting and it was all calorific sandwiches and quiche! Bit of a fail, but DH suggested Chinese tonight and I turned it down so we have had cheese and biscuits instead. It isn't exactly healthy but even turning down Chinese is progress for me. How has everyone else got on today?

OhHolyFuck · 20/03/2017 21:14

Bowie a huge part of my weight gain was not when I was pregnant but in the months afterwards where I was so so knackered that I was powering through each day solely on sugar, carbs and caffeine

Being tired is so incredibly hard to deal with when it's every day, and to think about loosing weight on top, I take my hat off to you

BowiesBlueEye · 20/03/2017 23:08

Yes! The sugar to keep going...the quick and easy meals of pizza or takeaway because you're too tired to cook. Raiding the cupboards at 1am while waiting for DS1 to fall asleep because I'm bored. Sad.

DS1 is 11 now so on his good days can handle me and DH sleeping before he does but some nights he's too anxious to do that and just wants me. DH has very early starts for work so sometimes it's impossible for him to take over but does his bit at the weekends and packs me off to bed early.

I'm sitting with DS2 (5) on my lap asleep as he keeps waking up with coughing fits so it will take all of my willpower to actually get up early in the morning.

Well done on passing up the Chinese! I don't know if I could do that Blush

Lotsawobblybits · 21/03/2017 13:13

Fairfax The cake looked amazing, great macarons. Congratulations on the 19lb loss- that is really great going.

10stones Yay- well done on the 25% off target achievement- here is wobbley 'whoop whoop' for you! Socializing can be so hard, booze knocks me straight of track. I have been having TOTM issues as well and wondered if it could be linked to diet change?

Pippa Fingers crossed for a good week for you- always helps to face the week with a plan. Well done resisting the Chinese, not sure i could have passed it up.

Crazy A loss is always a loss take it and be proud. You have done really great.

Londonnanny Fantasic 2.5kg loss. Stress can be a bit of a flash point, so well done sticking to it and getting all of your steps in.

Holy Yay- way to go 2.5lb off, bet you are really pleased. love the idea of a kick ass week.

Narcs Positive vibes for you to have a good week- eating out is hard to navigate sometimes.

Bowies Congratulation on the 1lb off- it soon adds up & very impressed with your early morning exercise. Being tried really tests the will power. Hope your DS is better quickly.

Reading the thread and replying is helping take my mind of eating, feeling a bit Oh Fuck it today. Been reminding myself why I am doing this - but seriously craving a big slab of Stilton. Funny not bothered about cake, sweets or chocolate but stinky cheese OMG!

3.5lb off this week so really really happy- Another 10 days and we have smashed March. That's 3 months done, another 3 months & it's June (thinking about all the lovely summer clothes).

BowiesBlueEye · 21/03/2017 15:37

Well, the morning exercise didn't happen Sad. I was up until 2 trying to keep DS2 upright to help his coughing. Went into school today and didn't cough once! I went for a bike ride through the woods this afternoon with DS1 though.

I have stuck to what I've entered into MFP for my food for the day. I had Total yoghurt with strawberries this morning and soup for lunch after the bike ride. Tonight is spinach and ricotta stonebaked pizza with salad. I had 2 rich tea biscuits with my coffee mid morning and it's still only coming to 872 calories for the day. Tempted to have a piece of garlic bread too tonight to increase my calories as it's quite low but it's a slippery slope with those slices of garlicky goodness.

BowiesBlueEye · 21/03/2017 15:38

Lotsa 3.5lbs is brilliant!

10stonestolose · 22/03/2017 14:41

Pippa thank you! Sounds like you've had a tough couple of days. Like you say, turning down a Chinese is still progress. We've all probably changed more than we think and some old habits now sound so unhealthy when before they'd be second nature to us. That's definitely progress.

Duchess well done on the 0.1kg loss, remember a loss, is a loss, is a loss. Great that you've still lost weight after a blip, shows that you're still eating less than you you used to.

Nanny 2.5kg is a fantastic loss, well done, esp at such a stressful time with your DH in the hospital. 10000 steps is a great discipline to get into, so well done with that too.

Holy way to go, 2.5lbs off! Hope the kick-ass week is going well for you. I'm having a bit of a kick-ass week too, esp with my exercise. Yes our combined PMA rocks doesn't it?! I love it!

Narcs Lol at gaining when you even sniff food. It definitely feels like it sometimes! Good luck with getting through all those celebrations!

Fairfax you've got some great stats going there, it's good to see it all written down, isn't it? It really helps me think that I've just got to keep going ticking one off at a time and I WILL get there.

Bowie 6am starts to go and exercise are super human when you have so much going on with your boys and you're already tired, so a huge well done for even getting out on that bike ride! Fantastic that you kicked the smoking habit too, just think this is just another battle that you can win.

Wobbly thanks and whoop whoop right back atcha! 3.5lbs...you are a weight loss ninja! Well done! It's incredible that we've nearly smashed March, isn't it? Can't quite believe we're all still going strong, we are so doing this. I'm thinking about all the lovely summer clothes too, can't wait! I've read that low-carbing can cause changes in menstrual cycles, so it could be the diet that's causing the changes. Let's hope it settles down soon.

I'm having a great week so far and I'm really nailing my running. Not run/walk anymore, just run. Yay! I'm still quite slow, but running approx. 3.7k in half an hour now without stopping. I'm doing this 3 to 4 times most weeks. My aim is to get to 5k in half an hour; a way to go yet, but I'm delighted with my progress. Still doing evening walks when I can too. Next, I just need to be brave enough to get back to the gym for yoga and swimming and my exercise will be sorted. That's the plan anyway! Trying to persuade a friend to join my gym to give me some moral support, hopefully she will join next week. KOKO everyone!

OP posts:
PippaFawcett · 22/03/2017 15:00

Well done with the running, 10stones! I stupidly weighed myself midweek today and I have put on 1lb! So I'm now back up to 17stones again. Very frustrating. Will try to KOKO though.
