Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Holy I'm sorry you're feeling shit. It's so frustrating never really knowing if you're going to be ok enough to do things. I hope you feel a bit better later. Do you find any supplements help? I don't really but some of my friends do.

OrlandaFuriosa · 01/02/2017 13:38

Yay hay, another two pounds over the last ten days. That's 9 since Jan 8 when I restarted after Christmas.

This weekend won't be good as having a Christmas celebration with friends on Saturday, preceded by a belated Burns night in Friday, but so what, will continue rather than give up afterwards.

Every mickle maks a muckle.

OrlandaFuriosa · 01/02/2017 13:43

My goals, I now feel I should share them, though not the starting point ( don't have 10's courage), though we can all work them out, tbh,

Ultimately 9 7, or a little below if poss. If 9 8, I won't care..

Go down 5-6 dress sizes and masses of bra sizes

Have toned thighs, slimmer hips

And a slimmer tummy...

No longer be in the obese category but in an appropriate BMI

Be able to control my eating and drinking,

Drink more water. 3 litres a day.

No gall stone problems through dieting too fast.

Have addressed ME type symptoms

OrlandaFuriosa · 01/02/2017 13:44

Did I say I am now out if the very obese BMI? Sooo pleased.

PinotAndPlaydough · 01/02/2017 14:15

Just checking in again, weighed myself again today and is said that in a week I had put on 6lbs Shock
I was about to have a complete melt down when I realised that my bag had fallen on the scales. I've actually lost 3lbs this week and am 2lbs off going down to the next stone bracket.

OrlandaFuriosa · 01/02/2017 16:36

Pinot!!!! I'd have freaked.

Congratulations.

Any chance of your bag losing weight as well?

OhHolyFuck · 01/02/2017 16:51

Haha oh bless you pinot! Can imagine the shock of 'wtf?!' until you realised! Well done 👍

PinotAndPlaydough · 01/02/2017 18:14

I don't have scales at home so do it on the machine in boots (bag was only so heavy because it was full of bloody birthday presents for my daughters friends).
I nearly cried, I didn't even put on 6lbs over xmas.

OhHolyFuck · 01/02/2017 19:36

Has anyone ever had/looked at bariatric surgery?

PinotAndPlaydough · 01/02/2017 20:02

I had a gastric band fitted 7 years ago.
I weighed 24st when I had it done, lost some weight very quickly, then got pregnant and had to have it emptied, had it refilled and lost more weight then became pregnant again when my daughter was 15 months.

The second time around I experienced lots of problems in the pregnancy and it took far longer to get it refilled. My youngest just turned 3 and I've been slowly getting the band adjusted for the last 8 months but it's not working. I'm getting terrible acid reflux so I can't have it as tight as I need it. In total it helped me loose 6st and allowed me to get pregnant so I'm glad I had it but for me it's not working at the moment and that may never change.

Had a bit of a splurge last night as it was DHs birthday.
Took him to a Game of Thrones theme bar. Had two half tankards of mead and a rum, followed by a daiquiri when we went for dinner.
Had potato skins and a cheese burger and chips (sans bun).
Also discovered that Oatibix are NOT the same points as Weetabix- they are two more. My fault for assuming but means I have been over points some days without realising and taking it off my weeklies.
But I know now, so onwards and upwards. (Or downwards as far as scales are concerned)

Lotsawobblybits · 02/02/2017 16:50

10stones I can be such a dufus sometimes-it will teach me to read posts better! Grin The Magna museum looks a much better day out & no cider in sight either!

Oh Pinot I would have done Shock this face! but 3lbs is great.

Orlanda that is great going- well done on your loss.

Holy hope you have had a better couple of days- I imagine it is really wearing at times.

Narcs I have been having a few digestive issues- thinking about ordering some of those too.

Was feeling really down about all this earlier in the week, but have pulled my pants up and just decided it need to be done. Normally 1 month in is where I keep failing, so if I power through the proverbial wall it might be okay for the long term. I know it will feel so good when the weight has gone. Have a good evening everyone.

Lotsawobblybits · 02/02/2017 16:53

Box that sounds like a lovely evening out love the thought of a tankard of mead!

BoxLoadingBaby · 02/02/2017 19:36

Lotsa You can buy it in bottles - Gosnells London mead. It's not as sweet and sticky as most meads - it's actually quite refreshing.

My DH and his friends were in their element. They were given a sword and shield from behind the bar and were posing with them.

NarcsBegone · 02/02/2017 22:36

GOT themed bar is a brilliant idea!
I'm still struggling to get enough calories each day with out a binge or slip up. I am being super super good though, I've got all anal about it and have stuck lists of 'yes' and 'no' foods on all the cupboard doors in the kitchen and my list of revised aims. The 'No's' are very specific and are definitely a no go area with the one exception of a treat when I have lost 5lbs so bloody hoping Mondays weigh in will show some lbs off as I'm gagging for a pecan slice! A lot!
I had a really emotional day yesterday with a diagnosis of ASD for ds, he's 11 and I've been asking for help since he was around a year old. Anyone close to him can see it but at school it was really difficult but he's got a brilliant teacher this year and she finally saw things (paid enough attention) with him and so Peadatrician was able to diagnose under NHS guidelines , she said a while ago he is ASD but couldn't diagnose officially until either the school recognised things or we had an ASOS report (waiting list over a year and private £400-£600. So when he goes to secondary school he will be given extra support and not just disappear under tha radar. I cried and said it felt like I was just imagining it sometimes and it's just all in my head, she said 'it's not it's very very real' so I blubbed more Blush. Anyway the point of that was I went to the coop to get something to soothe my emotions, I walked in, bagged out my pecan slices slice went to pay and then put it back! i put them it back!!!

NarcsBegone · 02/02/2017 23:13

Just completed today's MFP And I'm still down 446 calories from 1200 so 769 calories is what I've eaten. On target for carbs (which I still think is too high), really low fat, protein too low and sugar high because I've had so much fruit but it's my 5 a day plus I had 2 portions of veg. I will continue to fiddle with it all but any ideas welcome. Hope you have a great day tomorrow.

NarcsBegone · 02/02/2017 23:14

Just remembered I'm supposed to eat 1400 calories a day Confused

OrlandaFuriosa · 03/02/2017 01:29

Narc, putting it back! Well done!

I had a fail today, large slice if utterly delicious chocolate cake, burger with son plus most if a strawberry milkshake, gin and tonics d a glass of wine; we want out to the opera together. And home had been truly dreadful.

But so what. I enjoyed the cake and burger, g&t and wine, stopped drinking the milkshake when I realised I wasn't enjoying it, and Tomorrow Is Another Day.

BoxLoadingBaby · 03/02/2017 07:03

Narc you'd be better off having a treat when you feel like it. Otherwise you are rewarding yourself with food and that can build bad habits

OhHolyFuck · 03/02/2017 21:44

Just ate until I feel sick, just stuffed my face with the entire contents of the kitchen
Talk about self sabotage

BoxLoadingBaby · 04/02/2017 09:39

1lb off despite the Game of Thrones gluttony

NarcsBegone · 04/02/2017 11:26

Box you're probably right about the reward thing. I have been having a hot chocolate when things have got too much.

I weighed today.... I'm now 14st 9lbs!!!!!!!!!!!
I've lost 5.5lbs in total GrinGrinGrin. 3 more lbs and I will be around my pre Christmas weight.

NarcsBegone · 04/02/2017 11:27

Box that's awesome!

NarcsBegone · 04/02/2017 11:30

Holy just move on and get on track again. I used to do that and then just give up.

OhHolyFuck · 04/02/2017 12:56

Box well done!

Narcs thanks, I am going to try to do that - I am struggling mentally with it though, I feel either like 'fuck it, damage done, eat everything' and that 'I mustn't eat anything today as a counterbalance/punishment for last night'
Trying to stay somewhere in the middle....
Got work at 3.30pm-9.30am though so that will limit any being 'bad' opportunities
