Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Just ate a whole fucking cake
I have weigh-in tomorrow, wtf am I thinking?
Possibly it's hormonal, I just cried at the Lloyds bank advert where they saw two men proposing Hmm

OrlandaFuriosa · 29/01/2017 19:23

10, that's marvellous. Well done indeed. You are an inspiration.

Holy, I'm with you..., I've not had a good few days, dunno why. Binged on chocolate again yesterday. Had influx of nephews today and didn't realise I was expected to provide lunch so they got v special sausages, oustanding wine, sponge and fruit cake and tangerines. I.e. What was available save that DH gig the cake. Needless to say I had some if everything. And I haven't been to the gym today and now it's too late.

But, tomorrow is another day.

NarcsBegone · 29/01/2017 22:04

10 that's amazing! You must be so pleased with your self, that's a lot of hard work and determination.

I finally felt well enough to go food shopping today! I'm weighing tomorrow but don't expect to have lost but hope to have maintained at least.

I have an appointment with a proper dietitian on Tuesday, my dr referred me ages ago and I had a call from them on Friday. Because I'm unable to exercise really due to the ME looking at my diet is the only way to go. I'm a bit apprehensive about it.

I hope you all have a good week ahead

Lotsawobblybits · 30/01/2017 11:22

Well done 10 Stones you have done so well. 5lbs off is a really good dent in your total. Bet you are feeling better for it already as well.

The weekends are so hard- I was so hangry by yesterday afternoon DP just breathing was annoying-not a good time to be car shopping! I did apologise Blush.....but the poor sod . It is so hard at times and I could just bury my face in a whole chocolate cake so easily. But this time I feel I have got to do it.

Narcs it will be interesting to see what the dietitian will advise you, if it is the traditional low fat- or something a bit different. Fingers crossed it will be a good experience for you.

Orlanda fellow nightie wearer here too- Sainsbury's do some great ones. Bet if you have a good rest of the week you will be able to pull it back.

I have weighed in this morning - 6lb loss this week Grin, bringing the total to 22lbs loss. It has been really challenging though-the novelty has worn off. Still got so far to go and it is daunting. Looking back an old slimming world book I am now the same weight as I was in January 2013, the same couple of stone that keep going on & off Grrrr....

But - tomorrow is January done, that is 1/12th of the year done. Feb- short month, so another 4 weeks roughly and 1/6 of the year is done. We can do it, day by day.

Flowers to you all. We will have a good week.

Flibbertyjibbit · 30/01/2017 12:00

Hey all, congrats on the loss 10stone - you are inspirational.

Only 1.5lbs off compared to 11lbs last week, not sure where I went wrong this week. I stuck to low carb food but didn't drink as much water as the previous week. Think I moved less too but I will have weeks like that due to health problems.

Narcs I am seeing community dietitian through consultant referral. I've found it helpful - he was happy for me to focus on low carb approach as I am unable to exercise properly due to mobility issues. I like that it gives me someone to report to every 6 weeks.

Lotsa congrats on that great loss!

OhHolyFuck · 30/01/2017 13:54

Weigh-in today and despite the cake fuck up I had a 1.5lb loss, slightly disappointed that I'm not getting the big numbers some of you are though

Lotsa that's an amazing loss this week and in total! Congratulations!

Flibberty good to hear the dietitian has been helpful! I also have mobility issues and have trouble with certain carbs but I think I've been cutting out too much fat and carbs? I have slipped a fair bit too but I'm way under calories despite that every day so hoping they will help me shed some light.

Holy 1.5lbs is still a really good loss! I think things definitely plateau a bit at points but any loss is good and everyone's body works differently. I also struggle to get any big losses at the moment, but I'm hoping it's a case of slowly but surely.

I weighed today and have maintained so that's something but I'm definitely doing something wrong aside from the occasional slip up.

Flibbertyjibbit · 30/01/2017 19:40

I'm following the low carb bootcamp rules, low carb, moderate protein, high fat. MFP parameters set as 10% carbs 25% protein and 65% fat. Be careful you don't cut out too much carb AND fat, your body needs at least a good amount of one.

Holy I also lost 1.5lbs - I am viewing it as a loss is better than no loss. My plan is to KOKO.

NarcsBegone · 30/01/2017 20:06

Flibberty I think that's exactly what I've been doing wrong! It also really limits what I can eat. Thank you I'll have a look at my mfp and see how it looks in comparison!

10stonestolose · 30/01/2017 20:29

Ooh, did we have a wee troll on our lovely thread? Anyone read it before it was deleted?

Holy....well done on the 1.5lbs! It's pretty good considering a whole cake fell into your mouth Grin It might be that you'll have a bigger loss next week, I only lost 1lb last week and this week seemed to make up for last week.

Orlanda....thanks and I feel your pain with unexpected guests, nightmare!

Narcs....thank you! Good to hear you're feeling better. Good luck with the dietician tom! I don't know if it helps, but I eat a bit like Flibberty: low carb, but high fat, though I'm too lazy to monitor anything on MFP. I wonder if you'll have to up your fat intake, which will could help sort your lack of calories out? Maintaining is better than putting on, you might just not be eating enough. Let us know how you get on tom.

Wobbly...thanks, yes def starting to feel better in my clothes. Omg, 6lbs, that's a whopping loss! Well done you!! You made me laugh, as me and DH were also car shopping yesterday and bickering, mainly because I was hangry and hormonal. Forgot to make snacks and we bought a car and went to Magna museum too, which was bloody awful and freezing. I had a proper face on (whilst munching an apple!). Yes, Jan will be under our belts tomorrow and we're still here. We must be doing something right.

Flibberty....thanks and well done on your 1.5lbs off, remember a loss, is a loss, is a loss. KOKO is the best plan ever, as long as we keep at it, it WILL come off.

I'm really struggling with making sure I have snacks in my bag when I'm out and about, because low-carb is almost impossible when I'm not prepared. I was at work today and managed to grab some almonds and a couple of babybels as I ran out the door. I was ready to chew my own arm off I was so hank when I got home. Any easy low-carb snack ideas welcome! I'm often on the go throughout the day, so any snacks need squeezing into my laptop bag and to not get flattened too easily (no room for a lunchbox).

Flibbertyjibbit · 30/01/2017 23:55

I bought myself a pack of 200ml systema clip boxes - perfect size for my laptop bag, I can fit 2 of the boxes in my charger bit (along with charger). I've been prepping the boxes at weekend so I can grab when I have to go out unexpectedly.

Low carb snack ideas: cheddar cheese chunks, pepparami, cheese strings, olives, cherry tomatoes, pork scratchings my favourite , full fat yoghurt (I found a bag of plastic teaspoons in pound shop and stick one in bag with box) celery in one box, cream cheese in another as dip.

I've been buying the multi pack of pork scratchings in sainsburies. Great sized little bags to have with you when need snack. You can also buy pre-packed individual cheese in sainsburies, near the babybels is a range of one portion cheeses. Great if you don't have time to prep and makes a change from babybel.

10stonestolose · 31/01/2017 07:59

Flibberty, some brilliant ideas there, thank you!! Brew. Off to investigate skinny systema clip boxes.

NarcsBegone · 31/01/2017 13:27

I saw the dietician today... I understand some things a little better but not others. I will see her again in 2 weeks or so and she has said she will research ME/Cfs a bit more and was really interested in the research about ME sufferers and how carbs are processed so she is going to look into that and have some ideas when we next meet. In the meantime I have to up my carbs a little, keep fat fairly low but I should be eating more like 1400 calories a day instead of under the 1000-1200 I have been aiming for.

When I stood on her magic scales it printed out all sorts of info, apparently I have the metabolic age of a 52 year old Confused (I'm 37) Sad.
I have quite a lot of muscle mass which is good on paper but isn't really helping me lose the weight.
I have a lot of fat which I could have predicted Grin but less than muscle.
And my total body water is very low so I need to hydrate... a lot!

Also her magic scales had me as 14st 12lbs which I think is a lb out from mine.

So I have to have half my plate full of veg then the other half divided into carbs and protein, reduce cheese to once a week Shockand stop slipping up!

I'm hoping that when I go next time she will lower the carbs and help me figure out how to get everything I need through other energy sources if you get what I mean.

She wasn't impressed that I don't like fish or yoghurt as they appear to be the golden elixir Hmm

She also suggested counselling for emotional eating but I'm currently doing cbt (again) for ME and it would take a bit more than 12 sessions and probably a psychiatrist to be of any help with those issues! I'd rather just ignore the emotional eating and hope it eventually fixes it's self while trying to emotionally eat kale instead of coop pecan slices!

10stonestolose · 31/01/2017 14:23

Sounds like a really interesting first session Narcs. think it will definitely help you focus on your eating over the coming weeks and help you stay on track. The diet your dietitian advises sounds very similar to the slimming world one from what I've read. Could do with some of those magic scales!

Flibberty....just ordered a set of 4 200ml clip boxes off of eBay, they should fit perfectly in my bag.

Any of the other low-carbers finding that, ahem...number twos, have drastically reduced in frequency? Thinking I still might not be drinking enough and I imagine it's affecting weight loss slightly too.

OP posts:
NarcsBegone · 31/01/2017 16:00

10 i have big issues with no 2's and started taking these capsules (pic attached) and they really help! I also use lactose (I think it's called that) a laxative type of thick syrup. Upping your water intake will probably help too.

It goes against the grain to have as many calories as she's advised but I'm going to stick with it and see what the results are in 2 weeks. She also told me to weigh twice a week and record it.

Lotsawobblybits · 31/01/2017 16:36

Narcs That sounds like an interesting appointment. It looks like she was heading toward the traditional low fat, 1/3 starchy foods, high fibre route. If the yogurt is low-fat- i.e Muller lights- I am a bit weary of the all the extra added stuff. Fingers crossed it does help in the long run.

Flibberty Well done on the loss, every bit counts. I find drinking loads helps to make me feel fuller.

Holy You should be pleased with a loss, you are doing fab.

10stone Oh no..a Manga museum wouldn't be my cup of tea, I imagine it was like when we were in Brussels and ended up in a Tintin art exhibition.

Been okay yesterday and today appetite wise and have been having an extra little walk every day too. I am finding the enormity of how much I need to loose very daunting, even if I mentally break it down into easy chunks. KOKO again! Smile

10stonestolose · 31/01/2017 19:02

Narcs....I can't see the pic? Might be me, I'm on my phone. Yes worth sticking to what they say for a couple of weeks, I guess they know their stuff.

Wobbly...Magna, the science museum not Manga, the Japanese comic stuff Grin www.visitmagna.co.uk . I know what you mean about it being daunting. I don't know if this will help you in the head department, but just think that the time will pass anyway and about how you want to look in a year's time. Even if we only lost one lb every week, we'd still be 3.5 stone lighter at the end of the year, nearly 5.5 stone lighter after 18months and over 7 stones lighter 2 years from now. So that's the worst we can do if we KOKO, and we're likely to do far better than that. We just have to keep going and it will happen. The other thing to think about is how amazing you're looking on the way down. It's not a case of waiting to be slim and looking rubbish until you've lost all the weight - it's about every pound off making you look a tiny bit better, tiny bit, by tiny bit.

NarcsBegone · 31/01/2017 19:49

I forgot to add it Grin

10 stones, 140 lbs, a whole bloody person to lose!! Anyone else?
10stonestolose · 31/01/2017 19:54

Thanks Narc...might have to look at trying these if it carries on.

OP posts:
NarcsBegone · 31/01/2017 21:34

There's not much fun to be had when you have these sorts of issues is there! I got mine off amazon. The chemist would probably be a good first stop.

NarcsBegone · 31/01/2017 21:41

Lotsa I'm hoping it will help. It was quite interesting as in the print out Smile although being classed as 52 was a bit of a shocker and added motivation!

OhHolyFuck · 01/02/2017 10:03

Pissed off today - ME kicked in so can barely keep my eyes open and my hands/feet are stiff and sore so Ive had to cancel my pt session so thats money down the drain and means I won't get a big loss this week either
