Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Well after being absolutely furious with myself for putting on 2lbs I've been extra good since Wednesday. I usually only weight myself on a Wednesday but I did it again today and in those 3.5 days I've managed to loose 4lbs. That's the two I put on and an extra two off.
Thank you to everyone who reminded me that this journey is a winding tide with bumps and not a straight one 🙂

PinotAndPlaydough · 21/01/2017 18:40

Road not tide!
Also agony so glad your little one is back home

10stonestolose · 22/01/2017 00:04

Pinot, congrats on the 4lb, yes the winding road revelation is a strong mental picture that is working for me. I finally realise you can't get through this thing without a single bad day or treat. Just as long as it's a downward trend, it will come off sooner or later if we don't give in. We just have to keep on keeping on.

Just home from my do and I managed to navigate through a starter where I couldn't eat the bread, a main where I left the potatoes and a dessert where I couldn't eat anything but the three raspberries garnishing it. So I did it, admittedly helped along with a couple of vodka slimline tonics and several proseccos. But previously I'd have eaten the crap and then spent the rest of the weekend bingeing, before fallling totally off the wagon. So, as far as I'm concerned, its progress. Weigh in tomorrow.

Oh dear, well it looks like my week of social events has really taken a toll on the scales. Only 1lb off this week...eek! The good thing is, I know exactly why and I really need to expect a small loss if I drink alcohol (esp if it's on several occasions!). Hard not to be disappointed though when I've been good with my food all week. BUT I'm trying to remember it's a small kink in the road, my friends, just a small kink in the road....

Woooohooo! Good news on the loss 10stone!! But I think the best bit is your attitude - you can tell you are going to loose the weight you want to because you are so positive and realistic. I'm going to use the winding road image...Might be my new doodle when I'm bored in work meetings.

Flibbertyjibbit · 22/01/2017 10:55

A 1lb loss is better than no loss, well done! I love your target layout and may have to copy if you don't mind. I'm officially weighing in tomorrow so will find out what my week 1 loss is, but first I have to attempt a low carb day out with best friend , there must be something I can eat. If not I have put a bag of pork scratchings in my rucksack Grin not sure what coffee shop will make of me munching on those hehe!!

10stonestolose · 22/01/2017 11:35

Cornelia....thanks, I know I have to stay realistic and just keep going and I will get there. I think this is the key to all this. I love your doodling idea. Think it'll look something like this....

Thanks Flibberty, absolutely, please share away. Good luck with the weigh in tom! Normal cafe or restaurant prob better for you than a coffee shop, as I find they're inherently carb only. Ooh could just eat some pork scratchings though!

10, well done, well done.

Actually , magnificent!!

Love your pictorial description of progress.

I've finally lost the weight I put on over New Year. So I feel I can begin again. Another 5 lbs and I shall have lost over a stone. Another 7 , i.e. 2 on top of that, I should be in a diff dress size. That would be sooo good.

And my waist is coming back.

What do people do about clothes that become too big for you? I've kept them in the past as I don't trust myself. But I'm thinking of giving them away to a Women's refuge, this time. I thought I'd keep one size above what I am, but slowly get rid of the rest.

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/01/2017 12:32

And how are you rewarding yourselves?

I need things to keep me going. Not just numbers.

New undies? Manicures?

10stonestolose · 22/01/2017 14:25

Hey Orlanda., thanks and well done right back at your 9lbs off!

With clothes, I tend to Ebay designer or high end high st stuff and charity the rest.

I'm hanging back a bit before rewarding myself with clothes, perhaps until I know I can fit nicely in an 18. But I definitely will as the weight comes off. And yes to new undies too. For now I'm still just pampering myself a bit, manicures, beautiful skincare etc, more to kill time when I'd normally be nibbling in the evening.

Can I join?!
Started at 19 st 7 Blush in the middle of November, have been following slimming world and as of last Monday had lost 2 stone. I've just this week started couch 2 5k which has made me feel so so good! I tried starting last year but couldn't get through the first run, this time round it has felt much easier though I'm sure that will change Grin

Well done to everyone! I've been reading and feeling inspired and motivated!

Lotsawobblybits · 22/01/2017 19:49

Evening all.

Well done 10stones loosing and having a few drinks is good going and a great over all loss. You must be chuffed.

Nice one pinot I need to remember your example when I sabotage myself- you can always pull it back.

Orlanda sounds like you have made great progress. Well done for getting back to it after Christmas.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I have managed to keep on track, though I find weekend hard. Kept myself busy with a deep clean of the house today so hoping that counts as exercise not such how to log it on my app to be honest. Going to weigh in in the morning and see how this week has translated. Fingers crossed.

Been thinking I am going to book myself in for a pedicure when I hit the 2 stone off mark, there is a spa a mile or so from where I work where you can book in for treatments without having a spa day. Bit indulgent but something to aim for. Just got to keep on keeping on! Grin

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/01/2017 19:50

Nibbling in the evening is my pitfall. I come down to let the dog out and two slices of toast and marmite later..

OhHolyFuck · 22/01/2017 20:53

Weigh-in tomorrow, little bit apprehensive as I've literally no idea, barely ate whist ds2 was in hospital but then had a Pizza Hut tonight....Blush

Just tried my scales but they're so wrong, just randomly choose some numbers every time I step on that actually I'm no closer to knowing

Lotsawobblybits · 23/01/2017 11:47

Weighed in this morning and 2.5lbs loss this week which takes total loss up to 16lbs. Very happy to have hit the 1 Stone mark & surpassed the 5% goal. Clothing feels a little looser now and it felt easier to Zip my body-warmer up this morning. Going to look again at my targets I think.

Holy fingers crossed for you.

Orlanda Just the thought of toast & marmite is making my mouth water. Would nibbling on carrot/celery sticks help?

My thinking today is fake it till you make it so......This week is going to be a good week.

Flibbertyjibbit · 23/01/2017 14:22

hope you've all had a good weekend. Well done on the loss Lotsa

I survived yesterday and today out & about - had black tea and they kindly made my sandwich into a salad with the meat on top. Today I managed to share a cheese platter, only ate the cheese and salad even though there was an amazing smell coming from the bread bowl - I managed not to have any.

So the most exciting start to my day is I'm now 18st 13lbs! Which is a 11lb loss for week 1. So pleased my hard work has paid off, it's made me super motivated for my week ahead. I know it won't be such a big loss from now on but it's definitely spurred me on.

NarcsBegone · 23/01/2017 16:24

You're all doing so well! I love the determination.

I weighed today but had difficult nights on Saturday and Sunday as are out both nights. I still come in way down on calories but there was fat and some carb excess. Not sure how long it takes to catch up on you?! But I weighed 14st 13lbs today so I've lost a couple of lbs this week. I'm still aiming for under 1200 calories a day (easily under everyday) but I still struggle a little with the fat and find that a lot of labels don't list non saturated or mono and so most stuff is just entered as 'fat' on MFP, so it may be it's actually not that bad. I'm hoping to at the least maintain this week taking into consideration the weekend meals.

10stonestolose · 23/01/2017 20:20

Hey welcome to the gang sunshine really impressed with your 2 stone off and even more so, your running! You're doing brilliantly, would love to try the c25k, but struggling with the first bit at the moment..getting off the couch Grin

Wobbly thanks, I should be chuffed shouldn't I; I think sometimes my expectations are too high and I shouldn't be disappointed as long as it's coming off. Your spa treatment is a lovely idea for a reward. Well done on your 2.5lbs off, we've now lost the same 16lbs, it'll be good to keep each other on track. Faking it til we make it is a great mental thing, you're right, we almost have to believe we're there even before we get there.

Orlanda....yes, it's funny how two slices of toast can just fall into your mouth isn't it. When I'm in a nibbly mood, it's amazing what can fall in without me even knowing! Cake I really have to watch it.

Holy...hope weigh in went ok. A little Pizza Hut after the week you've had can surely be forgiven. Hope you've all been taking it easy.

Flibberty....wow 11lbs off is bloody brilliant! Well done and now you're in the 18s! And well done on managing to navigate around the bad stuff when eating out. It's not easy is it?

Narc....well done on your 2lb loss! It's weird, sometimes it doesn't catch up on you at all and other times it happens straight away. As long as it's a downward trend, you know you're doing ok.

I've literally only just sat down today after a stupidly busy day. It's very motivating to read all your lovely updates. We really are making some progress aren't we. I wonder how many people we'll lose between us. Bet we've already lost at least one, haven't we?

I've had a good start to the week, but I'm off tom and out tom morning for breakfast, so fingers crossed I can behave myself!

Thanks for the messages of encouragement, ended losing 3lb at weigh in!
Seems massive amounts of stress is the key to my weight loss!
Going for 2lb this week, would make my half stone then

10stonestolose · 24/01/2017 15:00

Brilliant news with the 3lb off Holy. Well done for sticking at it through such a stressful time.

I had a lovely breakfast out and managed to be good, despite the others ordering hot choc with cream and marshmallows afterwards! I had black coffee and a delicious cooked breakfast, just asked them to do it without the hash browns, baked beans and toast. I was still full and felt good for not caving. I certainly won't need lunch today either.

We're getting closer to the end of Jan now, almost a full month under our belts. If we go a little bit longer, we should get so it just becomes routine to eat the right stuff. That's my thinking anyway. I'm still huuuge, but I'm definitely feeling a little slimmer than I was, which is a bit of a motivator in itself. My bras are digging in less at least! I'm really believing that I can do it too. The time will pass anyway and I know how I'd rather be feeling at the Christmas parties next year...7 to 10 stones lighter in a cute LBD or as overweight and sluggish as I did this Christmas, squeezing into an ugly size 22 sack. It's a no brainer isn't it?!

OP posts:
Flibbertyjibbit · 24/01/2017 22:21

Well done on the loss holy

10 stone you've described exactly how I felt at Christmas party. Squeezing into size 22 dress, felt horrible. Definitely a good motivator to KOKO. Another good day here, managed to have black tea and nothing else while out. Made feta & roasted veg omlette when I got home. Going to try a slightly longer walk tomorrow to meet my step target.

10stonestolose · 25/01/2017 08:31

Hi Flibberty, size 22 will soon be a thing of the past for us. We'll probably all become clothes shopping addicts instead of food addicts though Grin. I love the sound of the feta and roasted veg omelette, might have to try that. I do something similar with a goats cheese and veg frittata and that's nice.

I have a half day off today with no plans, so just need to keep myself out of mischief. I've had a healthy breakfast, so just need to keep it going. Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
Lotsawobblybits · 25/01/2017 13:39

Checking in for hump day.....or desperate craving for chocolate/cake/crisps day as it is being renaming. A diet coke after lunch may be a bit of a fix, I have stuck to this for 22 days and mustn't fail now.

So pleased for everyone on the thread, and all the positivity is definitely a help keeping me motivated. As Fliberty says just got to KOKO. I completely agree on the Christmas dress scenario- the choice is so limited and I can't help but feel so frumpy & huge next the others.

10stones It would be a bit of a chuckle to see how many people we can loose between us. I am not sure how it would work but maybe on a nominated day we could add together everyone totals. According to the ONS the average UK woman is 11 stone and 5ft 3- I wonder how many women we can loose? Enjoy your free afternoon- sounds bliss.

Have a good afternoon everyone.
