Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I think that's it Notanurse, it's just keeping at it. Good job on keeping within the calories with 3 meals out. I know what you mean by saying sod and and making the wrong choices, so easy to do, it can be quite empowering when you don't succumb.

ZestyDragon · 10/04/2017 22:41

I have decided the 30DS is not for me. I went to the gym this evening and had a programme worked out for me (I am a previous weightlifter so happy enough with it) and starting at lower weights so my back doesn't flip out. The gym lady also suggested I try her body pump class so I am signed up to try it Thursday.

I have swollen glands on one side of my neck and what feels like earache on the other side. Just hoping I don't have an infection - I am prone to them.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/04/2017 19:24

Hope you're not getting ill Zesty - are you feeling a bit rundown? At the risk of sounding like my mother - a bath and an early bed works wonders!

I'm plugging on, but feeling a bit of boredom setting in! I don't think it helps that DH and I are scrimping to pay off some credit card debt (not masses, but enough, and it's been sitting on 0% CC for ages, so needs gone) and that in conjunction with dieting just seems to make for quite a boring life! I'll need to find some fun, free and food-free ideas soon, or else!

Hope you're all doing ok - is it just me or is this week feeling quite long already?! Blush

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/04/2017 18:11

Hope I've not broken the thread! Blush

Just had to share a little jeans-related victory - I can fit into (without feeling like I might be cut in two) into my least stretchy pair of jeans...next size down is calling Grin (for my bottom half, at least!)

ZestyDragon · 12/04/2017 22:16

Hey NoTractors wayhey on the jeans!! Good woman yerself!

Still suffering from the gym so god knows what I will be like after the pump class tomorrow.

I know what you mean about a boring life. Money is ok but DH suffers from depression, anxiety and just hates going anywhere and I just feel like life is all work, exercise and not eating everything I want. You just want a bit of fun!

Ears etc are still sore but glands not too bad. Fingers crossed I will shake it off. And I have had the early nights :)

Guys - this just feels like its dragging doesn't it? I also feel like my weight loss has started to slow and that's a dangerous time for me.

MirabelleTree · 13/04/2017 07:10

So sorry about your Aunt Rumtopf well done Zesty and Breakingsad

Notanurse sts are a PITA when you have stuck to it but I think an inevitable part of the process. I'm facing one or a slight gain tomorrow morning as AF here, unless something drastic happens today, but as you said, it's just KAITing and it will go away. And a bit if credit where credit due, 3 meals out within calorie allowance is really well done.

Zesty hope you feel 100% soon. I'm very impressed with your exercise !

I think this point can be a bit difficult, maybe we should set ourselves mini targets for weight but also for doing something else non diet related but that is new and a bit of a challenge and or fun?

i'm feeling ok about things but have my surgery goal and joined an evening class earlier this year that has turned out to be the best thing I have done for ages leading to new friends, getting me out of my comfort zone plus a new hobby to keep me busy. The best bit was being treated as me again, not as someone's Mother which has given me a boost.

It is going to drag as it's a long haul for us all, potentially a good couple of years so we have to get on with living . It is hard when money is tight, my sympathies. Anything in the house you could eBay or Gumtree at all? If so could you have this as a 'fun fund' and plan a few things to look forward to? Has anyone got anything in particular they have always wanted to do but the weight held them back?

I went through m wardrobe the other day and have several bags of clothes ready to go. I'm just waiting a few weeks to actually ditch them as I want to do that on the day I hit 50% of the way there. I didn't get rid of anything last time which is handy as I haven't needed to buy any new clothes yet (though do now need to) but this is the last time I'm doing it so the big stuff can go. Sainsbury's has 25% off clothes at the moment apparently if anyone needs things to tide them over.

Nearly at the end of watching Extreme Diet makeover on YouTube which I think I mentioned before. Really inspirational what some people have achieved and well worth watching a couple. They split it into 4 phases of 3 months . Phase 2 is the one where a lot of people struggle which is where we are now. For them it's because they have their hands held through the first 3 months and are then on their own and have to try to balance life with a gruelling exercise routine but I think the fact the novelty has worn off comes into it and i think we can relate to that.

Finally (I'm really going on here) I think at this point it is worth thinking about the reasons for our weight gain in the first place and try to address any issues that may hold us back maintaining in the future. Right, you'll be relieved to know I'm going to shut up and eat my breakfast now !

1lb loss for me (week 22). Total 47.25lb lost, 52.75lb to go. Surgery target 2lbs to lose, 6 weeks remaining. My fat has gone squishy.

MirabelleTree · 14/04/2017 12:10

It honestly has gone squishy, I googled and seems it is a thing Grin

That's a good decision to maintain. I was looking at the stats on people who successfully keep the weight off and they aren't great. I think it is vital that we think about maintenance as we're going through this and a week or two maintenance every so often is really sensible.

Been researching my surgeon and turns out he is one of the top in the field and trains others. Feeling very encouraged and hopeful I might be able to get away with keyhole.

On a less positive note my core muscles are in hibernation. Just tried my first sit up for many many years and basically I just can't. Am thinking I need to find out more about Pilates, that's for your core I think?

ZestyDragon · 14/04/2017 13:43

Notanurse well done for not going over maintenance calories and for recognising that you were in danger of spiralling. Sometimes I think that's half the battle - realising that you have triggers.

Well done on the weightloss Mirabelle and you are so close to your operation weight target!

Squishy fat is most definitely a thing. I am noticing my stomach feels softer and same with thighs and bum.

You are right that we all need to think about maintenance - we need to work this out. How many of us are actually still using this thread most weeks? I think there are only a handful and whilst the thread is near finished we need to be planning for the next one and getting ready to plan the next phases - we aren't at maintenance yet but soon we will all be struggling to lose weight the nearer we get to goal weight - we need to know this and remind each other that it will happen and bloody well keep going! And yes, this can mean eating at maintenance - when i go on holiday in June that's what I plan to do. And when we are at goal weight we need to still keep going - not just stuffing our faces (I am guilty of this!).

Keyhole surgery is ideal Mirabelle - I had that.

Core muscles - would you consider a weights programme at the gym based around weights and core? I have started this and the trainer persuaded me to try pump last night. I swear I thought I would die but I got through it. I can't do full sit ups with my back so just did smaller crunches - it still works.

Start: 287lbs
Current: 238lbs
Loss this week: 3lbs
Loss: 49lbs
To go: 78lbs
Goal: 160lbs

Three and a half stone exactly. I want another half off before I go to Cyprus in June so fingers crossed I will get there.

MirabelleTree · 14/04/2017 16:44

Well done Zesty, great loss and congratulations on 3.5 stone ! Another half before your holiday is very doable all being well.

You're right, unfortunately it will get harder and we will need to remind ourselves and keep going. If anyone else is reading and wants to jump back in or in for the first time, please do. I'm going to eat at maintenance on holiday in the summer . Triggers are something I've been thinking about and trying to deal with.

I would consider a gym and have been researching membership prices. Think I've decide which one to join but at the moment I've decided to wait until after my op.

Have a feeling a rant about other people and stupid comments re weight loss might be coming in the next few weeks. I am blatantly still fat and have lots to lose but have already had the 'but you haven't got much more to lose have you ?' comment. I'm ready for it this time and am going to say I'm stopping when my GP tells me to and shut that conversation down quickly.

BreakingSad · 14/04/2017 21:52

Hello Everyone

Zestydragon well done and wow at 3.5 stone loss, you're doing so well.

Mirabelle won't be long until you've smashed the half way mark and hit your weight loss target way ahead of your surgery. My Dd does Pilates as she's trying to strengthen her core, suffers from lower back pain and she says it's definitely improving.

Notanurse good job on recognising your trigger and being proactive.

Exercise wise I'm doing fine, but still struggling eating wise, wasn't prepared at the beginning of the week, which puts me out of sync and been struggling to rein it back in. I'm better with routine and planning and with the holidays I haven't been as organised. Recently though it seems it doesn't take much to knock me off course, not sure how to stay on track, maybe it is boredom. Can relate to needing some fun and the treadmill of daily life.

You lot keep me trying though.

BreakingSad · 15/04/2017 12:55

Amazingly I've STS, I'm pleased that I haven't gained. I'm going to have a look at some smoothie and dinner recipes, I need some inspiration. I'll have a look at the extreme diet makeover as well.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/04/2017 16:09

Wow, everyone is doing so well! Well done all.

I was going to check in earlier, but got side-tracked by the baby giraffe live birth thread Blush. I've STS this week, which I'm happy about, going to ramp things up a notch this week, now I'm feeling more motivated!

I went out for a long walk this morning, but did lots of hills and really pushed myself - thought I was going to Envy at one point so took it easier (and more downhill!) after that point! Felt great afterwards, and still do - need to remember this feeling. I was feeling a bit of anxiety about work things and I really feel I've blown the cobwebs away (a lot of Taylor Swift on the iPod really helped too Blush)

After me complaining about money earlier in the week, DH found out yesterday that he and his immediate family get a discount on gym membership, so I'm taking that for £18 a month - it feels quite extravagant to take this on when we're trying to save, but I really do think I need to do this. As Zesty pointed out upthread, this is going to get harder, the more we lose, so I think I need to just gird my loins and get on with things a bit. This thread has been a big help in keeping me on track, but yes, our numbers are dwindling, and it's only going to get harder.

Here's to cracking on, and just bloody doing it! Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/04/2017 23:15

Me again, was just browsing Amazon and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a decent (but not too spendy) sports bra for a rather ample bosom? I know I'll forget to ask if I don't ask now!

profound thoughts on a Saturday night Blush

Am I too late to join? I realise we are almost at the end of April but have started and stopped so many bloody diets this year, I just need to start over. A few years ago I lost just over 100 lbs and need to do the same again. Been so disappointed in myself for so long after putting it back on, but no more of the self pity, it's really not helping.

I have exactly 100 lbs to lose and have started this morning. Last time I lost going very low fat. I tried low carb but just cannot stick to it for any length of time. I'm going to try calorie counting to see how that goes.

There are some inspirational dieters on here and I aim to join you Smile

BreakingSad · 18/04/2017 16:18

Never too late Callmesausage, welcome aboard.

Notanurse hope you haven't had any more attacks and well done on the hill.

Watching with interest on the sports bra front.

I too would like this thread to continue, as without it I expect I would have gone back to where I started.

Thanks guys, will weigh in with losses each Monday.

I had gallstones years ago, that pain is shocking! Hope you have no more attacks.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/04/2017 18:08

Happy Tuesday all! Easter Smile

notanurse - thanks for the recommendation, and hope your gallbladder is behaving now! Well done on the hills too - I took a detour on my way home from work and put an extra hill in on my way home Smile

Welcome callmesausage - we're all very supportive in here, and to echo Breaking, this thread has definitely kept me going when I was tempted to jack it all in.

Feeling good today and I have a new target for myself - I have a dress that has been hanging in my closet for a while now. I want to wear it to a wedding I'm going to in July - I'm not sure of the size, but with some guesstimation, I think 1.5st should be sufficient - so that's my target! Grin

Callmesausage · 18/04/2017 18:41

Thanks again for the welcome. I desperately hope I can stick to it this time. My weight is on my mind constantly, from first thing right through until I go to sleep. I can't understand why I can't seem to stick to anything longer than a few weeks. The will certainly is there, but the pattern just keeps repeating. Any tips/suggestions on how to keep at it? I've done it before, so I know I can do it. Honestly, I drive
myself nuts ....
