Just got back from holiday this morning and while I feel like I've stayed the same or even lost a bit ( I don't weigh myself as I don't want reasons to celebrate or commiserate) I want to continue with the healthy eating I did while there

I was pretty careful . Limited myself to one treat a day, a gluten free cake , ice cream lolly with chocolate and nuts around.

I never bought any chocolate ( unusual for me). Very few potatoes. I found veg and protein was enough in that heat.
Not a big drinker. A gin and tonic for me is a tonic with a splash of gin a couple of times a day and we walked for miles.

So....I have a wedding coming up next year and I have four lovely dresses to choose from. Two I got married in ( knee length rather than bridal). One champagne, other a kindd of French beige. I can get them zipped but can't breathe in them.

Then I have a pale green and a pale pink. They are unworn as they were new last year and I couldn't wear them as I'd put some weight on.

So...my plan is to practice healthy eating and intermittent fasting till Christmas.

My usual breakfast omelette but this time allowing more than 13 hours of fasting between dinner the night before and breakfast. Green soup. Today's looked putrid but tasted fine. It was a rich dark blue green as a teaspoon of spirulina went in as well. Plus a few cashews and a bit of feta

Tonight will be homemade turkey curry. Eaten by 7 to allow for the fast.

I don't want to go back to chocolate or crisps when I snack.
It's going to be painful as Im Already gluten and mostly dairy free, so I can only cut back on sugary snacks and it's so much cooler here so I want to eat.

I'm also going to look into mindful eating.

Anyone with me till Christmas.

Then it will be a couple of days off. Then back on till our next break in march where I'll have to watch myself for the wedding in may.

I like to have a goal.

Hi nottractors! 2lbs is a great start.
Just about to tuck into chicken breast with spinach and avocado.

RonBurgundysMoustache · 30/10/2016 13:21

Sounds good Brill

I'm having slimming world chilli and a jacket potato.. then it's my nieces bday party this afternoon so must refrain from picking at party food and sweets!! Shock

BrillianaHarvey · 30/10/2016 13:45

Children's parties are so hard. Really difficult to stop picking out of boredom. Can you do something like taking a bag of rice cakes to snack on if you absolutely have to eat something?

RonBurgundysMoustache · 30/10/2016 14:09

Great idea.. I may just do that.. I'll be running round after my baby most of the time but once she goes home I shall be tempted!

feedmelollipops · 30/10/2016 14:34

Just back from a 3rd birthday party where I had a glass of prosecco, tiny piece of cake and several chocolate dipped strawberries. That's lunch. But now I am so hungry.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 30/10/2016 14:57

Childrens parties are really difficult - nibbly things are really deceptive! (and I'm a sucker for a triangle sandwich and a cocktail sausage)

I don't really have a sweet tooth, but I can pack away crisps like no-one's business - especially in the evenings in front of the tv Blush. I'm trying to teach myself crochet to have something to occupy my hands with, but it's still hard, especially with DH around, who can eat whatever he wants and is the same size as he was at 18 Angry

BrillianaHarvey · 30/10/2016 15:22

You did really well, lollipops!

Oh Horrace don't beat yourself up. Drink lots of water to help it through your system. Could you do something tonight to help you recalibrate for the week ahead? Yoga, long bath, twenty minutes listening to Classic Fm, painting your nails sort of thing? Something to connect with your inner strength and remember your resolve in a non-masochistic way, if that doesn't sound too bollocksy?

Dowser · 31/10/2016 00:13

Not too bad a day.
Omelette for breakfast.
Mince stew and rice for lunch
3 gluten free sausages for dinner
3 sweets...toffees

Oh Horace. I hope you have a better day tomorrow. Does it help to meal plan. Put something in the slo cooker. Have tasty bits in the fridge to keep you on track.
Once you get into it, dieting is easy. Keeping it off is the hard bit.
Better day tomorrow eh?

Another lb off today! Definitely heading in the right direction.

chuchiface · 31/10/2016 08:22

I got some Heck gluten free sausages the other day Dowser - they were ok (not as nice as my favourite sainsburys pork and caramelised onion) but very low cal.

Well done Brilliana, my weigh in is Wednesday and I better have a loss as I have been soooo good!

BrillianaHarvey · 31/10/2016 08:43

Good luck chuchi!

RonBurgundysMoustache · 31/10/2016 08:55

Brill well done.. that great by xmas you will be rocking those outfits!

Horace don't feel bad, we all have bad days, just draw a line underneath it and start afresh today!

Party wasn't great but could have been worse I suppose.. two small glass's of prosecco and one hotdog! I still came in under my allowance but I feel bad for the bad stuff!! Back on track this week to hopefully get another pound off by Friday 😬

RonBurgundysMoustache · 31/10/2016 08:56

church good luck for weds!!

BrillianaHarvey · 31/10/2016 08:59

Great work Ron - that must have taken serious willpower! A hot dog is hardly a crime in the grand scheme of things, and I bet it was delicious!

RonBurgundysMoustache · 31/10/2016 09:10

Brill it really was.. but I didn't have any sweets or cake or crisps etc so I was pretty good! Wink

The hotdog was good, but then I felt so bad as this is the first time I have ever really started to loose weight from dieting so I don't want to sabotage myself so have to just keep telling myself that those pounds coming off far outweighs the 5 second pleasure of eating bad stuff!

NewYearNewNickname · 31/10/2016 09:16

Hi all, can I join please. I lost just under a stone at the beginning of the year and generally kept it off but the last few weeks it has started to creep back on due to stress at work followed by a holiday. Weighed myself yesterday and was 10st 5lbs which is the heaviest I have been since the start of Feb so I definitely need to get back on track for Christmas!
My realistic target is to be 9st 12lbs, with an aspirational target of 9st 9lbs.
I use mfp to calorie count and add in exercise too.
Yesterday was good, generally healthy eating plus a body balance class followed by 40 lengths swim (1k). Am still off work today so planning on the gym with the kids this afternoon for a mess around on the tennis courts and a swim. Back to work tomorrow so will be much tighter for time then.
Some great motivational posts here, I really think these threads can help a lot 😀

RonBurgundysMoustache · 31/10/2016 09:23

New welcome.. and congrats on loosing nearly a stone! That's fab... and you can certainly get to target by xmas!

Konyaa · 31/10/2016 09:25

Can I join please. I have 20 kilos to lose, got a full time career with massive commutes and 1 year old and a dog, 16 fish and soon three hens

I can't stomach breakfast Unfortunately.

My plan is a MyProtein shake for lunch (8 gm carbs) and a proper dinner (Indian dinner so lentils, vegetable curry, chicken curry) with 1-2 rotis.

BrillianaHarvey · 31/10/2016 10:23

Welcome new and konyaa. Your dinner sounds delicious - what I wouldn't give for a proper Indian meal! Have you tried totting up calories with an app like MyFitnessPal? Depending on portion size, it might not be doing you any favours.

RonBurgundysMoustache · 31/10/2016 10:30

Welcome Konyaa as Brill says I use MFP and I find it so helpful and its really making me think about what I eat and how much I eat! I find it a very useful tool in aiding weight loss.

Konyaa · 31/10/2016 11:29

haha my indian meal is cooked by me an indian person so I suspect wouldnt be to British indian taste buds. Nothing is fried in ghee. Well, nothing is fried. My Dhaal is not the Western dhall, its home style dhall from bengal, which involved boiling with spices, no "tarka". My chicken curry is made with frylight. I suppose when people say "Indian food" Western minds recognise a particular spread - which is not spread on family tables, definitely not mine.

Konyaa · 31/10/2016 11:30

And I have lost half a stone in the past month - my portion sizes are great, my indian food isn't curryhouse food, i do not own ghee, and well - thats all :)

Konyaa · 31/10/2016 11:34

Vegetable curry (home style)

Frylight - fry a selection of 5 whole spices from bengal.
"Fry" in the aroma of it all - 7 kinds of chopped veggies.
Turmeric
Powdered cumin
Powdered coriander seeds
(bring off when done) - top with chilli flakes and seasoning for myself. DH eats as it.

chicken curry (home style)

Frylight - fry diced + onion garlic ginger paste
Turmeric
Garam masala
Keep frying
Add chicken
Water, cover, more garam masala

Rotis - ground whole wheat, water, pinch salt. 1 of those. 110 calories.

Just to explain what home style Indian food means, i think one of you imagined by Indian food that may not be doing me any favours to be quite something else....
