The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Oh no twofloorsup what a nightmare. As beela says well done for staying strong. Good luck I hope it all works out for you.

twofloorsup · 01/02/2017 22:36

Thanks Posie I'll work it out somehow just not sure how yet Smile

Roundisashape · 02/02/2017 07:14

Sorry to hear about the flat twofloors. But well done in not emotionally eating. Hope you find a solution easier than you are expecting.

AristonAndOn · 02/02/2017 07:23

Hi Two. Really well done with not comfort eating. I hope you sort things out soon 💐

twofloorsup · 02/02/2017 07:39

Thanks all. Funnily enough if anything the stress put me off eating. That's never happened before Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 02/02/2017 22:14

Super bad sugar cravings this afternoon/evening, no idea why but I kept fantasising about a kitkat chunky! Maybe that will be one of my weekend treats. Bet it won't even taste that great... strange how the mind works. Stayed strong though and now safely tucked up in bed! Hope everyone is doing Ok today.

beela · 03/02/2017 08:14

Same as you posie. I blame AF. I wanted chocolate all day yesterday but resisted. When I got home DH was on a bit of a downer so no positive energy there to keep me going. I cracked at about 9 pm and had 1 square of lindt dark chocolate with sea salt.... and it totally satisfied me Smile So damage not too great.

Today is a new day. And nearly the weekend, yay!

PosiePootlePerkins · 03/02/2017 13:02

Beela I think that's pretty good that one square satisfied you, definitely progress! Hurry up weekend!

Roundisashape · 03/02/2017 13:07

Well done on avoiding the cravings and limiting to a single square of chocolate, I am very impressed.

I made it through yesterday and so far today. I think I am going to have to address my portion sizes or else I will be the size of a house Grin. But strangely have been waking in the night absolutely starving ?

beela · 03/02/2017 14:13

Oooohhhhh, I've lost 1.5 kilos this week! Go me!!

PosiePootlePerkins · 03/02/2017 15:44

Well done beelaStar
Round don't worry too much about portion size in the early days, the appetite tends to adjust as you go along. You will end up naturally preparing smaller/more healthy plates in time, although not all of the time!
The night time hunger is hopefully just an adjustment period. Well done for sticking with it!

Roundisashape · 03/02/2017 18:28

Oh dear I am afraid today has been a spectacular fail Sad. I gave into my danger hours. It has been a bad day on all fronts, I am surprised I haven't throttled the DC's (they are certainly deserving it). Plus woke at 3 am this morning. On the positive side I did do my hard-core exercise class and have walked over 20000 steps.

Monday is another day. Will try and show a little restraint on the weekend. I have to say though the last 2 days have certainly made a difference to my mindset, so for the first time I don't feel like I've failed so may as well give up.

Congratulations beela that is a great loss for a week.

Thanks for the advice posie. I'm trying to put it all into practice.

PosiePootlePerkins · 03/02/2017 18:39

Round don't be too hard on yourself, I am getting a bit boring now because I keep repeating the following NoS mantra: 'mark it and move on.' This is the most forgiving diet I have ever followed, if you go wrong you just make a note and get back on it the next day. Or in your case, Monday! This is a process, you can't change a lifetime's worth of over eating/dieting overnight. There is a poster on the NoS forum called Oolala who has followed NoS for 7 years, she has said it took her 2 years just to get her weekends under control! You are just at the start of your journey, just hang on in there and take it a day at a time.
(Meant to be encouraging not bossy, just ignore me if I am being irritating!Smile)

Roundisashape · 03/02/2017 19:03

Never irritating posie. Need lots of encouragement and if I'm honest probably a bit of bossing Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 03/02/2017 19:45

LolGrinSmileSmile

twofloorsup · 04/02/2017 10:35

Morning all hope you all have a good no S weekend Smile

AristonAndOn · 04/02/2017 21:00

Evening!! I had one snack today so not really gone for it today. Planning lovely roast tomorrow and might enjoy seconds. Happy S weekend all!

beela · 04/02/2017 21:32

Enjoy the roast tomorrow ariston Grin I'm planning Nigella's ham in coca-cola tomorrow... never made it before but hoping for lots of leftovers to make protein filled lunches during the week!

I snacked a little bit on homemade granola today but resisted the hot chocolate and disappointing cakes in costa when I popped in with DD earlier, on the basis that if I am going to snack or sugar then it needs to be well worth it. I might have a little amaretto in a minute though...

user1486242881 · 04/02/2017 21:36

Hi all different user name here choco is a big clue. Been trying to use my account in ages but dunno what's happening. Been doing well with the no s. Hope all OK x

twofloorsup · 04/02/2017 23:39

I had a big fat burger and smoothie for tea tonight. Ate late and am suffering for it !
Might try something sweet tomorrow if I feel like it.

Does anyone know what the situation with dried fruit is ?
I have loads of dates or sultanas on my porridge with nuts and seeds but it is very sweet and I'm wondering if I'm meant to eat it on N days at all. ?

AristonAndOn · 05/02/2017 08:16

I don't know the official stance on it, but I've been avoiding dried fruit on my cereal in the mornings and having a banana on it instead, except for this morning I'm having both 😋

eltsihT · 05/02/2017 08:32

I have had a pretty good week this week. Except for Friday when I had 2 doughnuts. I blame dh as he was over an hour late home from work and I was ready to eat my own arm.

Managed to loose 1lb this week which is great. I am now 4lb from my target weight which i suspect will make the weight loss pretty slow from now on.

twofloorsup · 05/02/2017 09:50

Ah Ariston don't say that !!
I have dried fruit , nuts , seeds , coconut and a banana Shock

It does have to last me 7 hours or so though Smile

AristonAndOn · 05/02/2017 13:23

That sounds delicious Two!! Mine only has to last me 4 hours though.

beela · 05/02/2017 13:35

You know what.... I'm quite looking forward to getting back to my n-days next week Shock
