that's unless you want to go to Gillian McKeith's House and show your poo to the world (if you have watched this show you will now what I am talking about!) All the people on that also seem to lose 2 stone in 2 months so it must be good. I will certainly look into it once I have shifted most of this lard.

fussymummy · 24/01/2007 22:40

Welcome mummypoppins Good luck with the diet.
Hope you have a toilet near to your office, as you'll be drinking so much water that you'll be spending a lot of time in there!!!

I had my second weigh in today and lost 5lbs.

So that's now a loss of 16lbs in 19 days!!!

Hope it continues like this.

For every lb i lose, i put a £ in a tin, and in a few months time i'll have fun spending it all!!!!

bendigoblue · 24/01/2007 23:30

I do that too Fussymummy, i'm saving to buy wool when I go on a knitting weekend in february

Are you back on the wagon now Meb2006? How are you finding it?

mummypoppins · 25/01/2007 10:02

Fussy mummy fantastic. Hope to be there in 19 days too. Have you cheated ? Any tips ?

Had a Cappuocino ( Spelling ??!! ) shake this morning which was yummy. I know the first few days are going to be hard but I will stick it out.

Tiger 8565. I have lost weight with SW and WW before. SW is fab in the summer as I love BBQ's and salad but I need a kick start so this is it. If I can get to 10 stone then I will SW and exercise the last stone off.

Got a friend in the office who looks like she might join me on this so should make it easier.

Moonshine any tips?

meb2006 · 25/01/2007 10:04

fine until yesterday and then I ate again - I think I get so low at the end of the day having been looking after little one all day without a minute to do anything that as soon as I get a bit of spare time I want to eat? Still I was n't too naughty so starting again today at least the weight is going the right way even if it is much slower then it should be.

well done to everyone that is losing - it is falling off!

bendigoblue · 25/01/2007 10:37

Good luck on your first day mummypoppins! Its a great help when you actually like the shakes isn't it! I haven't tried the cappachino because i'm not a great fan of coffee, but I love the toffee walnut. I made a mousse from my strawberry pack last night and it was like having angel delight, it was soooo good.

bendigoblue · 25/01/2007 10:39

It's good you're sticking with it Meb, and you're definately going in the right direction!

snowwonder · 25/01/2007 11:51

how much does the mix a mouse stuff cost?
do you think it is worth it

what bars do you reccommend?

bendigoblue · 25/01/2007 12:25

I got my mix a mousse on ebay for 3.99, that makes 10 servings. I think it's worth it, it was nice to have a solidish pudding.

I haven't had any bars yet, i'll have to get a couple next week because we're going away to a baptism.

meb2006 · 25/01/2007 13:02

toffe malt bars - they actually taste like toffee and are chewy inside chocolate - I opt for 7 of these a week

moonshine · 25/01/2007 14:00

Well done on losses so far all!

Mummypoppins - do you mean tips for the early days or in general? the things that work for me are: 1)drinking loads of water. I also change to fizzy in the evening just to make it seem a bit more 'special' (replacing my usual glass of wine!). 2)I try to make Friday and Saturday night a bit different by saving 2 packs until the evening when the kids are in bed and dh is glugging wine and scoffing pizza. 3) I avoid my usual danger zones which are mostly shops (I still have to go but keep it to the bare minimum) 4) I try not to look to far into the future and concentrate on mini-goals 5)I try and imagine what kind of a state I would be in that day if I had given up and just got caught up in my 'managing ok in the week then spoiling it all with a binge or 2, usually at the weekend' 6)I hang up or try on my smaller clothes at home because after about 2 weeks or so you notice a real difference every few days.

On that note I am wearing my size 14 jeans for the first time in ages. They are still a bit snug but I know they should fit well in a few days - yay!

Having a diet buddy can be also very motivating as you can cry on each other's shoulders and celebrate each goal together!

I'll stop now.

Oh will just say well done Meb for carrying on - you sound reasonably happy with how it's going and tbh sometimes you just got to do anything to get you through this.

meb2006 · 25/01/2007 14:38

moonshine on the basis I was just about to go downstairs and stuff - your email has saved me - I am not eating!!!! Thanks.

mummypoppins · 25/01/2007 15:15

Moonshine thankyou.......you are an inspiration. I am spurred on. but then it is only my first day!

Got a headache and Im hungry but I know that will go in a few days. Will be good to get on a bar for lunchtime as that is the hardest.

meb2006 · 25/01/2007 15:26

yes it so much easier if you have a bar at lunch - or you could have the ready made tetra packs with straw so you don't make a mess at your desk - I used to take them to work.

fussymummy · 25/01/2007 18:41

mummypoppins I have cheated a couple of times.
I made cheese and potato pie for everyone else and had some. Only a small amount!!!

Have also had grapes. Miss fruit so much, i used to eat loads.

This is absolutely nothing compared to what i used to eat!!!

I thought i'd miss chocolate, but i haven't at all, and i was such a pig with it before!!!

I do drink 4 litres of water a day. Also have a couple of black coffees.

I found it really hard cooking for 3 kids and partner, but so long as i cook meat products for them it doesn't appeal to me as i'm vegetarian.

I had a clear out of clothes as well. Got rid of 6 carrier bags full as i'm not intending for them to fit me again!!

mummypoppins · 26/01/2007 08:33

Day 2 and still motivated!

Tetra bricks are vile.......I am just not a milk shake person. Just drinking loads of water with them to keep them down.

Going to start exercising on Monday. Walking on the treadmill. Have the entire box set of Desp housewives 1st series so that should keep me going!

How is everybody this morning ?

snowwonder · 26/01/2007 09:23

girls have to be honest i am starting again today after a dreadful week, i am back to my start weight, (it goes back on so quickly)
but i am motivated and so not want to wear these size 20 clothes for much longer!!!!

dreading the weekend though when i am home all day and not at work

bendigoblue · 26/01/2007 09:38

Oh snowwonder, don't worry, just get back on board. How bad was your week? I worry a bit that i'll do this, lose all the weight and it will go back on straight away.

Day 17 here, plodding along, haven't cheated once which I hope I keep up because I don't think i'm the type that could start again. I don't think I want to do the add a meal week for the same reason, once I start, maybe I won't be able to stop?

Meb2006 - How are you getting on?

mummypoppins - You're doing great! Before you know it you'll be at your first weigh in and then you'll get some really really good motivation! Sorry the tetras taste grotty, I haven't tried them yet. That lady that lost 24 stones on cambridge had nothing but the chocolate tetras for the whole time (nearly 2 years I think!) can you imagine!

I invested in the best blender ever the other day after reading good things about it on Discovery Health forums. It's called a Hinari Genie and you can get them in argos extra or tj hughes, it's just fantastic, 30 seconds and you have a creamy soup or milkshake or soup thats not powdery at all! Theres a similar item on Ebay called a Magic Bullet. Best purchase I ever made!

Hope everyone else is doing well

moonshine · 26/01/2007 11:37

Glad I helped in my own small way yesterday but feel a bit of a fraud - I lost all my weight and put some on again. Still, I was nearly 18 stones at the beginning of 2005 and size 24/26 so I have come a long way .

Snowwonder - I'm sorry you had a bit of a struggle - you just got to get back on the horse! The downside of CD is that you can put on quite a few pounds very quickly whilst on the diet if you have a big blip, but it's not fat, it's just your glycogen stores filling up. It will come off again quickly. Maybe try and go out for long walks or visit somewhere (with your kids?) if being at home is going to make you fall off the wagon? Or sort out your clothes/photos and imagine what you will be able to throw out in a few weeks? Try splitting your packs into 2 so you can have 6 soups/shakes? Put a bar in the fridge (and I think some people put it in the freezer) and cut it up into small chunks to graze on?

The boredom is a hard one to conquer, so don't feel bad. I still struggle, but funnily enough baking things helps me! Must be the thought of me getting slimmer whilst I fatten up the rest of the family .

mummypoppins · 26/01/2007 14:25

LOL.....ive got everybody in the office running to the loo as much as me!!

They all say watching me run out every 5 mins is making them think about it!!

Horrible taste in my mouth and freezing cold but cant beleieve I have reached Ketosis yet. Only half way through day 2.

Not particularly hungry but very light headed and have a bubbling under headache.

The weekend will be the hardest but must keep busy. DH away on business so will stick to kids type food and then hopefully I wont be tempted. I know if I can get through the first week I will have cracked it!

fussymummy · 27/01/2007 13:33

mummypoppind that's exactly how i felt on day 2.

I was freezing cold and had the onset of a headache, just take paracetamol.

I also had some of my shakes hot to warm me up!!

And yes. the tetras are disgusting!!!!

mummypoppins · 27/01/2007 19:32

Yeh!!! In ketosis...........tested with the sticks.

Gosh the weekends are hard. Just about to serve dinner. Going to have to remove myself form the room!

Really difficult to drink the water as well. Better when I am work.

Just hope I can make it to Monday. Cant wait to get to next week so I can start on the bars for lunch. That will be much easier.

How is everybody else doing today ?

juuule · 28/01/2007 08:45

Well done, mummypoppins. Keep going now. Monday will soon be here.
I've just finished week 3 and have lost another 4lbs bringing my total to 12lbs lost. Not the huge losses some people seem to have but I'm happy that it's going in the right direction.
Will see what week 4 brings now.
Does anyone know why you can't continue with ss once you reach a bmi of 25? I'm getting close now and I'm worried to come off ss.

juuule · 28/01/2007 08:47

Oh and I like the chocolate Tetras - they taste like melted chocolate to me. I like them warm. I tried the putting them in the freezer (was told it would be like eating chocolate ice-cream) but didn't like them too cold.

meb2006 · 28/01/2007 13:41

Hi All. Glad to hear is going so well. I have now totally fallen off wagon. I suspect I am back to start weight too. I do think this is just too restrictive for me at the mo. However going to see cousellor tomorrow and start agin no doubt. Never mind.
