I'm looking for a buddy to join me and help motivate to lose some of this flab! I'm 5'7" and about 12st but will weigh in tomorrow morning.

Hello! Please may I join you all? I did SW two years ago and lost 1.5st (needed to lose 3 really) but it's creeping back on! My tummy sticks out so much now and I'm not happy in any clothes. I also feel pretty unfit and don't do enough exercise at all. I've started (again!) couch to 5k but this time I want to stick at it!

Lbs lost this week: 0
Lbs lost overall: 0
Current weight: 12st 9
Goal weight: 11st
Age: 42
Height: 5'8
Motivation: Want to feel fit and be a good example to the kids!

Cocoaone · 30/03/2016 12:54

Hello Kreeshsheesh!

Are you going back to SW? My cousin loves it, but I can't control myself around unlimited pasta Grin

Kreeshsheesh · 30/03/2016 13:06

Hi Coco, I really loved the principles behind SW, but I started to get fed up of muller light yogurts and things made out of egg whites! I probably wasn't very good at doing it as I'm a lazy bint when it comes to cooking, etc. This probably explains a lot! Grin

Kreeshsheesh · 30/03/2016 13:07

Sorry realise I didn't actually answer - sadly no, I won't be returning to SW. Hoping to use MFP though I can only seem to add friends from my email or FB apparently?! Methinks I'm missing something obvious!

tigerchair · 30/03/2016 13:24

Hi kreesh, I think you put in the person's username where space for email is on mfp

tigerchair · 30/03/2016 13:25

Coco...i identify with the message of that song lol Smile

ThisToo · 30/03/2016 13:28

How have I never heard that song before? It's brilliant cocoaone Sadly it could be my anthem as it sums me up perfectly Blush

Stellar67 · 30/03/2016 13:31

Yes, put the username in where you'd put an email.

I'm sharonrlh

Cocoaone · 30/03/2016 13:33

That song totally sums me up too! Probably everyone with a slight food addiction...

ThisToo · 30/03/2016 13:37

It was our 19th anniversary (was a child bride Grin) Pre-DC we used to go away somewhere for our anniversary and spoil ourselves. Last night's dinner was a last minute thing and the most we've done to celebrate the day in recent years. Must make more effort next year for the big 2-0, when I'm lovely and slim again Wink. We had a great time though, thanks.

Snoopadoop · 30/03/2016 13:50

Happy anniversary thistoo

Austinbabe27 · 30/03/2016 13:58

I'm desperate to lose weight around 3 stone but at a loss as where to start, need a cheap but healthy diet and some motivation to do some exercise any tips? I'm 12st 11lb and 5ft 5.5 Thanks

Kreeshsheesh · 30/03/2016 14:09

Thanks folks! I've tried adding a couple of people to see if it works!

lorelei9here · 30/03/2016 15:13

would you Adam and Eve it....my main motivator was that the doctor was saying they couldn't issue my usual Pill without me losing some weight.

Guess what I just got without even being asked to get on the scales?!

doctors make no sense. The last time that comment was made wasn't even at a flipping Pill check. I honestly think it depends which member of staff you get!

Anyway, I do still want to lose weight but I feel less panicked as I now have 6 months of my Pill and clearly my (not shocking) weight doesn't worry all the doctors. How bizarre.

Cocoaone · 30/03/2016 15:56

Lorelei - maybe previous doctor was having a bad day? I thought that POP was more weight sensitive than combined anyway?

Still, gives you six months to lose and stick your middle finger up to the original Dr Grin

lorelei9here · 30/03/2016 16:15

Coco, I thought that too so that's interesting.

In terms of a bad day - I wonder if it was more of a box ticking thing. It sounds weird, but especially because I wasn't even there for a pill check, I wonder if they'd had a meeting where someone said "oh we need to update stats on weight" or something.

Oddly - sorry to be boring but this might be of help to some of you? - my old doctor is retired now, but before she retired I had a major illness which required a lot of follow up, so unsually I had a phase of seeing the same doctor for some time and obviously didn't make separate pill check appointments. She wasn't fussed about my weight for contraceptive pill at all! I am overweight but not obese and she said "It's good if you can lose some but it's not a crisis" - I am a regular (almost daily) exerciser, have low blood pressure and also have to have regular checks for asthma so we would know if my fitness was in decline.

I must admit I would like a definitive answer on this one but I won't get one will I - some doctors are going to have a fit once you cross the overweight line and would rather you were at the lowest end of your weight range and some won't care?

there's a vanity aspect but to some extent I'm not a supermodel so I don't care that much!

Cocoaone · 30/03/2016 16:19

I work with a lot of clinicians, and you're right - some say it doesn't matter if you're slightly overweight - as long as you're not drinking too much, not mainlining pizza and donuts everyday and barely move off the couch. If your BP etc are good, they are too worried in these cases.

Others are like the weight police! Despite many of them being porky themselves

Cocoaone · 30/03/2016 16:20

*aren't too worried

lorelei9here · 30/03/2016 16:25

Coco, the one who weighed me last time - when I wasn't eve having a pill check - was actually obese and from what I could tell, didn't have as much muscle on her as I do. (I know muscle does me no favours in BMI but doc surgery doesn't even have a fat % measurement on the scales).

lorelei9here · 30/03/2016 16:27

sorry I'm waffling..one reason I was so concerned about this was that I even wondered if I ought to stop my heavier weights-based workouts because I thought if it meant I ate less and then showed a better loss for the GP, it would be a good plan - but tbh I don't really want to stop doing them, I like being able to lift heavy!

tigerchair · 30/03/2016 16:29

Kreesh, im wilsy01 on mfp if you want to add me

Calories wise, today is going fine. ..food choices wise, it's a disaster. Been out shopping and took dcs to bk, too hungry to wait for something healthier so i had a whopper and diet coke, no fries. I'll be glad when school hols are over and we are back to normal routines!!

tigerchair · 30/03/2016 16:32

Lift heavy lorelei!! I love doing weights too. And your metabolism is better with higher muscle % too Smile
Think that first doc sounds a bit clueless!!

lorelei9here · 30/03/2016 16:35

tiger, yes, but I can't manage less than 1500 calories on a heavy weights day, and I am losing half a pound a week at that rate.

I know from having been ill and not working out for a long time after recovery (long story) that I can manage 1200 calories if all I do is an hour or so daily walk.

Maybe I should have asked today but I was just so relieved. A 2 stone loss would put me bang in the middle of my weight range. Maybe I should just see if I can get to the max weight allowed and leave it there. That would be a stone loss rather than 2 which does seem more manageable.

Kreeshsheesh · 30/03/2016 17:06

Hi again. I'm KreeshW if anyone would like to add me on MFP. Smile

hellokittehhhh · 30/03/2016 17:13

Hi! Well done tippy on the 3lb weight loss!
Thank you to those who have added me on mfp. Not done too badly today so far, still got my dinner to go and the dreaded evening munchies to overcome! Sad

Those who have got a fitbit or other exercise gadget linked to mfp, do you eat any of your extra calories? I've earnt just over 500 so far today but thinking I shouldn't eat them?!
