Hi Can I join in late?
Would like to lose a stone, currently 12 st 3.5lb. Doing old style propoints if that is ok and I am not signing back up with W>W. Hope that is ok too? Just looking for some encouragement and motivation!

Kreeshsheesh · 05/04/2016 23:06

Hi to everyone who's just joined. I'm KreeshW on MFP if you need a buddy. Had a bad day today as dd had a belated birthday tea with family and I picked and snacked. I tried to avoid being a total glutton, but I'm also currently enjoying a glass of wine so that has definitely tipped the balance. However, I did do week 2 day 2 of couch to 5k so could have been worse! Grin

ijustwanttobeme · 05/04/2016 23:08

chickflick Welcome- encouragement and motivation is what we all joined for I think, as recognise (well me anyway) that I couldn't do it alone.

We're all doing whatever works for us, so you'll find some are calorie counting, some WW, some are SW and others are low carbing.

Many have added each other on my fitness pal too.

Don't worry about the odd bad day see my previous post... and concentrate on the good ones.

ThisToo · 05/04/2016 23:14

Welcome chick Smile

I hope everyone has had a good day.

I've just registered with MFP and been back through the thread to try and find everyone's usernames. The ones I found I have sent friend requests to but if I missed anyone please feel free to add me. I am ThisToo365 on MFP.

I decided I really needed something to try and keep track of my food intake, especially as my ability to make good choices is currently severely compromised by a serious lack of sleep. My 3 year old has a cold (which he kindly shared with me) and earache which means he isn't sleeping. Hoping signing up to MFP will keep me on the straight and narrow.

ThisToo · 05/04/2016 23:30

Thanks kreesh ijust and tiger for adding me to mfp already Smile
I'm surprised at how much more positive I feel about loosing some weight now, just by downloading an app and having some friend requests accepted! I hope I still feel as positive tomorrow when I'm trying to resist temptation and get my head around updating my mfp diary Confused

Cocoaone · 06/04/2016 06:28

Hello! I have been AWOL...

It's DDs birthday today and we went out for a family meal last night. I was starving and pigged out a bit, thought I'd totally blown my calories but clocked in at only 200 over - I'll take that! Grin

Out for lunch today and the dreaded HUGE party tonight, so another less than perfect day, but I'll try to minimise the damage where possible!

Stellar67 · 06/04/2016 07:03

This, I have just got your MFP request. How's you and your little one feel better soon. I totally agree, I see completed diaries popping up and feel good that I've done mine and it's all good.

Coco well done on staying in boundary! Although I think special events are your ignoring MFP Wink Happy birthday to your DD.

Welcome chick, banjo and Tina.

Tiger you can do it. Don't apologise.

Well done everyone! I'll weigh in as soon as I get up Grin

Stellar67 · 06/04/2016 07:27

I'm away next week on holiday (in uk). Any tips?

Stellar67 · 06/04/2016 07:30

Oh and only lost .5 on MFP as I forgot to update the weight gained a few weeks back Blush

VilootShesCute · 06/04/2016 08:00

12.8 this morning. Must get arse in gear

Bluedolphin1971 · 06/04/2016 10:01

May I join in too?

I'm 5'5 and currently weigh 13st 7 this is the heaviest I've ever weighed.
I'm not sure what weight I would like to be as at the moment I just want to fit into a size 12 so if I say 10st as my target weight?

ThisToo · 06/04/2016 11:12

Welcome Blue Smile
Whatever your target weight you will find plenty of support and encouragement here! We are all in similar boats, many of us at the heaviest we've ever been, but all motivated to do something about it. Do you have a particular plan you intend to follow? We have all sorts of approaches being supported on the thread from SW, low carbing to MFP. The people on MFP have shared their contacts for extra motivation. I only signed up to it last night but am already finding it really helpful (and am having fun scanning bar codes left right and centre - I really need to get out more Blush)

SharingMichelle · 06/04/2016 11:57

Hello everyone. Can I join you? You seem a friendly bunch.

I have 2 stones to lose. Just weighed myself for the first time in years. I never ever diet or try to lose weight in any way, which is of course why I am now fat. I had three difficult pregnancies, buggered my back, buggered my knees, my body feels like a battleground, and I lost. The worst bit is my tummy which is huge, and has prompted 4 people to congratulate me on my latest pregnancy.

I am trying to lose it with a combination of diet and exercise:
*I have completely cut out booze (huge weakness of mine).

  • I have downloaded MyFitnessPal to keep an eye on calories.
  • I am trying to eat less, and better (bit vague).
  • I have begun to play an hour of tennis twice a week.
  • I have hired a (terrifying) personal trainer who promises to help me get fit enough to start running again. I used to love to run. I see him twice a week for an hour.
  • I have signed up for a yoga class (this won't help much, but I quite like yoga)
  • And now I'm saying hello to you guys which is the final part of my diabolical plan to reclaim my body and the smaller half of my wardrobe.
RunningKatie · 06/04/2016 14:06

Weigh-in at SW last night, lost 0.5lb last week.
I've just tried on a summer skirt, it's 2 inches round the waist too small.
Hmmm, I am struggling with impact exercise like running and the shred dvd.
I need to consistently increase my walking I think. Does everyone have a fitbit? Are they any good?

Bluedolphin1971 · 06/04/2016 16:00

Hi ThisToo (sorry don't know how to do bold on iPad)

I was just going to follow an eating plan I did years ago that worked for me and start with that. What is MFP? I also plan to start going back to the gym to do spinfit, bodycombat, circuit training and legs bums and tums but as the kids are off this week and next I doubt I will get to gym until they go back to school.

My downfall is chocolate so that's the demon for me and it's so hard not having it in the house when you have kids x

ThisToo · 06/04/2016 16:12

Hi running well done on the half a pound loss Smile I think quite a few people have a fitbit but I'm not one of them I'm afraid so cannot comment.
Blue MFP is the My Fitness Pal app for keeping track of your calorie intake and activity (if you want to add it). I've got it on my phone and it's really easy to use - even I can do it Blush

parisdreams84 · 06/04/2016 16:47

Hi Ladies I have about 24lbs to lose and looking for support to keep motivated as well. Anyone in waterlooville?

ijustwanttobeme · 06/04/2016 18:31

blue dolphin add two asterisks before and after the word you want to be made bold

welcome btw, as sharingMichelle has said, we are a friendly bunch and try and keep each other going.

Had Thai for lunch (chicken Tom Yum soup, but had noodles in it which I wasn't expecting- left those)

Pizza Express with friends tonight. Anyone had their Leggera Superfood salad? Is it any good?

lorelei9here · 06/04/2016 21:53

Just had two courses at Italian restaurant. May need to fast tomorrow ..

ThisToo · 06/04/2016 22:15

Giving myself a big pat on the back for completing my first mfp diary entry. I only went over my target by 11 calories which I'm happy with.
lorelei I guess it depends what the 2 courses were!? For me one of those would def have been a dessert Blush
ijust how was the leggera salad?

Claire28will · 06/04/2016 22:15

I have a lot of weight to lose after having my first baby in December, about 4 stone!! Confused I have tried a few times in the last 3 months but just fell off the wagon, I was trying to follow
Slimming world as I had success with that for me wedding I lost 4 stone but I was also in the gym every day, I think i just need to try and eat healthy and count calories and not have any syns at all or treats rarely!
So I started on Monday, I have eaten really really well lots of salads and Greek yogurt and homemade low calorie soup, I walked 6 miles on Tuesday with the baby in the pram and I started the Davina DVD 5 week fit too, I have lost 4 pound in 2 days and I know it's mostly water loss but I am so determined now to keep going! Good luck everyone I know it's so daunting and overwhelming sometimes, if anyone needs a buddy I'm totally up for that!

lorelei9here · 06/04/2016 23:12

ThisToo, well done.
Meal was tagliatelle with salmon and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce, I didn't eat all of it but who can?!
Dessert was chocolate soufflé.

I think I started on this thread saying I didn't have any eating out booked for ages, now there's been today and there will be a meal for a colleague who is leaving next week. I do hate paying for a meal I don't actually want in a restaurant but I must offset it somehow.

ijustwanttobeme · 06/04/2016 23:27

thistoo - the Leggera salad was lovely - quite tasty and filling actually. The website describes it as: a mix of green lentils, black rice, edamame beans, red quinoa, chickpeas, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and kale in a flavoursome vinaigrette on a bed of seasonal mixed leaves, rocket, cucumber, roasted red & yellow peppers, red onion and fresh parsley with our light house dressings (437 cals)

Only over 11 cals on MFP - good for you. I've gone over by about 70 due to a last minute decision to have a latte this evening. Should have resisted but friends were all having coffees so thought I've drunk water all night, why not. Oops.

lorelei can you get out of the meal next week? Or if you have to go, just have a starter for your main course?

lorelei9here · 06/04/2016 23:35

Ijust, glad you enjoyed your salad but I'd be thinking what else I could have for that number of calories, I mean I like salad but it's a side dish for me.

Re the meal, it depends where we go, it might be fine. It's more that thing of having food envy if others are having pudding,

Plus my normal life does include eating out so I have to factor that in, in fact I do less of it than when I was thinner...so it might be age related but in reality the meals out aren't really the issue fir me I guess. I don't usually have more than one course though. I've just realised, I forgot to say I had a very small lunch! So some offset there.

I'm busy with good things tomorrow - not in the office - so tomorrow should be a good day food wise.

Kreeshsheesh · 06/04/2016 23:58

We went out today and visited our nearest city, meaning we had to have lunch out. We went to prezzo. DH, DBIL and the DC had nice pizza and pasta dishes. I chose the 'light' margherita pizza. It was TINY! Sad I was still hungry after eating it and nicked ice cream & another bit of the kids' desserts. Slightly counter productive! I always fail when we go out. We're going away for two days tomorrow which means more hotel type breakfast and eating out scenarios. I find this kind of situation most challenging, along with buffets. It's always where I've lost control of the portions!
