Still, 1/2lb off is better than 1/2lb on So well done

Sparkler1 · 26/02/2007 22:26

Hello!! Did I hear someone call me name? Don't worry I'm been good. Seem to have managed to pretty much hold it together this week. I didn't even have any syns at all on Saturday .
Three more days until my way in and hopefully I'll be joining in with these recent great weight losses. If I can get last weeks weight gain off I'll be more than happy.

Sparkler1 · 26/02/2007 22:27

*weigh in (sorry crap typing tonight need my beauty sleep!

BigHotMama · 27/02/2007 09:50

Hi everyone, Loobys it was me who posted the tip for the rustic chips and I aint tried them yet as couldnt find them, but was told how nice they are at meeting, thanks for tip of the £2 offer at asda must go get some.

Well I bit the bullet and went to class last night even though I havent stuck to it a whole day and missed last weeks, I only put on 1 pound so am well chuffed as had a curry the weekend and mucha glasses of vino.

Has anybody got the trinny & suzannah pants? (£30 from Littlewoods) Have only just been told about them and will be purchasing a pair asap as they are meant to hold your belly/bits in really well.

Good luck everyone!

I'm doing red day today
B = 2 rasher bacon with grilled cherry tomatoes
L = CHicken tikka slices with salad and coleslaw
D = Steak with mushroom & onions, green beans, small jacket potatoe and peppercorn sauce

Just need to go online and find out the syns to coleslaw and the sauce.

hi, Ive just started sliming world yesterday. Well my cousin has given me her food optimizing book, I havent joined up officially.

I'm veggie so will just be doing green days.

My starting weight is 9st 10 and I'm 5ft 2. my target weight is 8st 5.

Ive noticeied in the book that fruit juice always counts as syns, why? if its freshly squeezed with noting else added. I don't ubnderstand how it can be free if you eat it and syns if you drink it?

anyway i look forward to joining you all.

Rooicosta · 27/02/2007 15:07

Welcome me23 and good look with your SW journey!

Fruit pureed/ squeezed counts as syns because it makes it easier to over consume and you don't get the same saiety feeling (fullness) and pleasure as when you are actually eating a piece of fruit. Cooked fruit is also synned as it effects the natural sugars already present in fruit.

The same applies to making home-made crisps as it becomes a snack, which is much less filling than a jacket potato for instance. If you're not sure though, just ask on here...everyone is friendly and all have some great advice!

I'm starting to feel a lot better now and it's reflecting in my eating habits - funny that ain't it? - feel crap, eat crap! I've been having some lovely salmon salads for lunches the past couple of days and they have been delicious!

Rooicosta · 27/02/2007 15:09

*should have said Satiety!

me23 · 27/02/2007 15:42

thanks for the explanation! dp did suggest that but I wasn't sure.

so in that case free foods aren't unlimited then are they. I mean even though pasta is free on a green day you couldn't literally eat 500 grams and not put on weight!

also I don't know how many syns I should be eating?

tiger8565 · 27/02/2007 15:44

free foods are unlimited???? hence the being able to eat a whole chicken etc...(not that I do, but it illustrates the point)

If you could eat 500g of pasta I would be quiet impressed....You fill up quicker, therefore don't eat that much...but it's free probably because they know it will fill you up?

did that make any sense???

tiger8565 · 27/02/2007 15:46

p.s I have tried eating SHED loads of food...(SW say you can) and yes I did lose weight, but I did try it out to try and prove te point to both myself and my work colleagues who are in amazement how much i eat ;)

Sparkler1 · 27/02/2007 21:22

OH NO!!! I'm getting the munchies!! Have had two green days in a row and my stomach feels solid - really really bloated. Does anyone else get this? It's awful.
Going to have to have an original day tomorrow even though my cupboards are overflowing with rice, pasta, quorn and potatoes.

fireflyfairy2 · 27/02/2007 21:23

The juice won't keep you filled up, or chewing the way a fruit would, I think that's the reasoning behind the syns for juice rule

I haven't been doing too badly the past few days. Although have just had 2 biscuits with my coffee, I had the syns for them

Does anyone who bakes, have a clue about how many syns would be in a home made scone?? Dh & dd made some @ the wknd & I ate one

fireflyfairy2 · 27/02/2007 21:24

When I have the munchies I usually cube some pineapple.. it's lovely & crunchy

[Okay, I usually have crisps, that's why I need to lose weight!!!! ] But really, cubes of pineapple are great, or how about a snack a jack?

loobysmum · 27/02/2007 21:40

I've just made a Quorn cottage pie and bunged it in the oven. I know what you mean, Sparkler. It certainly does cause a lot of, erm, bloating .... never mind, just get the entire family eating "green". Then you can blame each other. Or have contests. Or get a dog. On the plus side it really fills you up. I sometimes feel like my blood sugar has plummeted on red days. I seem to need my carbs. Could never have done the Atkins diet!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Rooicosta! I put on 2lbs last week and went away and ate total crap for a couple days in disgust/disappointment, then got my head together again. Maintained this week. Not great, but at least I didn't put on!

fireflyfairy2 · 28/02/2007 11:03

MM quorn pie sounds nice, I've never made a pie using it before!!

Weigh-in tonight Feeling awful.... I know I haven't been too bad but always get nervous when it comes to stepping on the scales!

Rooicosta · 28/02/2007 12:39

Well done on your maintain Loobysmum after eating crap - I know what you mean, if you feel like crap, you eat it! And when you put on it's like "What's the point?" - try not to feel negative though, it will come off again!

I always feel really bloated on green days too Sparkler, to the point where it's really uncomfortable. I haven't done a green day so far this week and I feel absolutely great! I do love pasta though.

Joby1970 · 28/02/2007 13:11

Everyone who feels bloated on Green days .. make sure you are eating enough fibre & drinking enough water - that will help your system move (if u know what I mean). Also if you get stuck have a windeze - that'll get rid of the stuck wind at least. Otherwise massage your tummy in a warm bath !

fireflyfairy2 · 28/02/2007 21:44

Surfermum · 28/02/2007 23:24

Christie - try Speedo Endurance costumes if you're in the water a lot. They hold everything in and they last ages without going see-through.
