Twinklestar2 · 13/02/2016 19:03

I have yoyoed with the same stone since the beginning of last year. Getting fed up now but need some motivation to stick with it. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm so near yet so far!

Will be weighing in tomorrow and posting all food eaten. Feel free to join me!

(Should mention I have had a terrible (fun) weekend though, not dared to step on a scale this morning, has a 3 course meal out on Saturday plus 3/4 a bottle of wine... So may well be back up to 8'10 tomorrow!

Twinklestar2 · 10/04/2016 23:01

That's amazing bovny, well done!

anothermadamebutterfly · 10/04/2016 23:53

bovny do you mean that in fact RunningLou could be eating too little, and is therefore not losing weight?!

I have had a big lapse this evening - a cousin of mine is staying overnight on her way to a conference for work, and she brought some goodies with her and I had to eat them! Including some delicious halva, so we made halva sandwiches, or two or three (something my mum used to give us as kids, a true indulgence Grin.)

It was delicious though, so probably worth it! Back on the bandwagon tomorrow.

twinkle that sounds like a great set-up, good luck with it!

weasle · 11/04/2016 00:11

I've not eaten any crisps today. Probably the first day in a year or more that I've not eaten any.... I can't stop thinking about them but will try again tomorrow as well. I'm going to try a quick run too.

runningLou · 11/04/2016 07:55

Well done for resisting weasle.
bovny I don't think that can be right about exercise cals. Let's say my daily allowance to lose weight should be 1500, if I run for over an hour I burn 600ish cals. If I eat those back I would be on 2100 and I really don't think that would lead to weight loss. I do think though that after a while your body gets used to a certain level of activity and all you do is maintain - if you want to lose you need to try different interval training or things like HIIT. Sadly my fave forms of exercise are running, cycling and swimming which are not high calorie burning unless you are training for a marathon / triathlon ... And even marathon training doesn't guarantee weight loss.
No idea what I'm doing wrong other than it has to be portion size, but I really struggle to regulate that. I think I will have to get over my issues with MFP and play around with some weights of food and look at cals ... Either that or maybe join twinkle on SW as I think there's no weighing of food or cal counting involved??

MegBusset · 11/04/2016 09:48

Morning all :) I weighed in this morning and as I suspected, I'm bang on 10st.

I'm not at work today so have been able to walk the DC to school (usually DH's job) and do the Shred. I find it a very effective workout but am not fit at the moment so have gone back to level 1. What I really need to do is get up early to fit it in every morning. Easier said than done though!

I'm using MFP, tedious but again effective if I stick to it. I need to be on 1200 a day and not eat exercise calories for a decent rate of weight loss.

fadingblonde1 · 11/04/2016 14:30

Got weighed and as I expected I've put two pound back on :( I'm heavier now than I was in January. I think I will have to strictly count every calorie and weigh rather than guesstimate. I'm short I know I don't have any leeway with food but I hate thinking about it all the time - I must have been calorie counting since I was about ten!!

Anyway I went on a five mile walk today, and have so far had 2 plums, a babybel, and a yoghurt. However come the evening I constantly pick. I have a MFP account but I stopped using it, I found it a hassle to input the food and find what I'd actually eaten. I might have to give it a go again. I think one of the problems I have with calorie counting in general is that it gets a bit obsessive and it 'allows' me to make bad food choices, eg 3 bags of 'light' crisps for 300 calories rather than making a proper meal with decent food for the same amount of calories. I suspect this is why I'm not losing any weight.

Twinklestar2 · 12/04/2016 11:42

runninglou- there's no counting cals or measuring, it's more focusing on healthy foods with few treats.

Weigh in tonight so will let you know how it goes!

Good luck twinkle!
Struggling with illness again here but trying hard to get back to it. I think I may need to do another Lo carb, Lo fat reboot to get me away from the bread. I've been following a few recipes from Jamie Oliver superfoods book. I like the style/ethos behind all the Madeleine Shaw, deliciously Ella etc but find some of it just a bit too wholesome iykwim, Jamie seems a bit more realistically doable for me. Weighed in at the same this am, ridden & done monster dog walk & am now feeling rotten & sorry for myself Sad got a busy working week now too.

anothermadamebutterfly · 12/04/2016 16:58

good luck twinkle! Ready hope you feel better soon. Things pottering along here, I doubt I will lose any weight this week as I have not been very careful, but I have been to the gym and did some HIIT classes (they have good 30-min ones t our local gym in the evenings, which is really good) and have been running again, so maybe it is not too bad.

Running I have been thinking about the calorie-deficit from exercise. Thing is, there is no way I could run for 60 mins on 1200-1500 calories a day, I would just feel too weak, so there must be some sort of increase if you exercise, no?

hope everybody is having an OK week.

MegBusset · 12/04/2016 19:03

I'm a bit under the weather too - blocked nose and sore throat. Still managed to get up at 6.15am and Shred (L1 day two), felt very virtuous (and rather achy) - I have the most energy to exercise first thing. It remains to be seen whether I can make a regular thing of it though.

Food today: porridge for breakfast, soup and ryvita for lunch, apple and banana for snacks. Dinner will be Quorn lasagne with salad. I have no problem sticking to my calories until someone puts a glass of wine in front of me. Then all bets are off...

Cheeky weigh-in this morning: 9st 12.5lb which is a good start :)

Twinklestar2 · 12/04/2016 19:59

2.5lbs off - pleased with that Grin

Bovnydazzlers · 12/04/2016 22:26

i work on the basis of eating back half my exercise calories (per calculated by mfp), I don't want to deprive body of energy required and slow down metabolism, but would like to use exercise to speed up weight loss too so think that sounds a decent balance.

fadingblonde1 · 12/04/2016 22:42

Managed not to eat more than 900 cals yesterday and have had 860 today - off to bed now so I'm not tempted to eat any more!

readyforsunshine · 13/04/2016 09:00

Well done on losses twinkle & meg
fading that seems v low intake, be kind to yourselfSmile
The podcasts sound interesting bovny I'll try to find time to investigate.
another are you noticing a difference in your shape now? I find the exercise makes the biggest difference to shape & diet to weight. Was really hoping to get back to exercising & feel so fed up that I'm ill again, I don't know if it's diet related/ stress related. Doctors not really interested & it's gone on for a year now with only 6 weeks or so of feeling well, now it's back again Sad

fadingblonde1 · 13/04/2016 10:54

The problem is ready I've been too kind to myself lately and have put on two pounds. I'm about 4/5 pounds heavier now than I was in January. I can't lose weight eating more than a thousand calories a day, I'm a short arse and my resting metabolic rate is only something like 1,150.

readyforsunshine · 13/04/2016 11:37

Ah ok. SorrySmile must be tough to stick to for you.

anothermadamebutterfly · 13/04/2016 22:19

ready it is early days with the exercise, so I can't really tell yet whether there is any difference in my shape. I know that in general I feel much happier about life when I exercise, and that sort of transfers to how I feel about my body and appearance, but I am not sure whether that is because I think I look better or because I just feel more confident physically, if that makes sense.

I think I need to be relatively active to be happy, I get very fidgety and nervous and moody if I am stuck at home or in front of my desk too much.

twinkle that is great, and meg great start! fading, how tall are you? that does seem tough!

fadingblonde1 · 13/04/2016 22:33

Madamebutterfly I'm only 5 foot, possibly barely that as it's over 20 years since I've been measured! I think I'm small boned as well though. It's funny in my teens I was overweight and always thought I had a large frame for my height, it wasn't until the weight came off I realised how small I actually was. I think I tried to delude myself I was big boned not fat :)

twobambinos · 13/04/2016 22:47

Well done twinkle 2.5 is excellent.

The last week has been good on the eating front but not so much on the exercise. Ill weigh in in the morning fingers crossed for something good.

lougle · 14/04/2016 07:41

Morning. I put on a bit of the weight I lost last week - I think the mistake was following advice to 'eat back exercise'. So I've stopped doing that.

At my heaviest on March 27th, I was 69.3kg (10st 13lb). Today I've weighed in at 66.3kg (10st 6) so I'm 3kg or half a stone down. I'm quite pleased. So that's 7lb in 2 weeks 4 days so that's 2.75 lbs or 1.25kg per week.

twobambinos · 14/04/2016 08:41

Lougle that's a great loss well done.
When I joined this thread I was 9 St 10 but went up to 9 St 12 I'm now after the last week back down to 9St 9 and motivated again to keep going. I would like to be 8St 10 so 13lbs to go but will start to feel better when the weight gets under 9 St 7 do hopefully I'll get there by next week.
Wedding season kicks off in just 4 weeks and we have literally loads of weddings this year so I'm hoping that they will keep me motivated to keep going. I have a dress for the first wedding and I don't think I can wear it if I'm over 9 St 5 or it will start to look tight so fingers crossed I can get below that over the next 4 weeks.

Keep up the good work everyone. It's lovely out today going to go for a walk and a pilates class.

Twinklestar2 · 14/04/2016 08:50

Well done Lougie Smile

I nearly gave in to chocolate last night but realised I didn't really need it, I was just doing it out of habit. I like SW it's making me really think before I eat which is what I needed!!

hinkyhonk · 14/04/2016 09:37

Urgh have been hit by a lurgy this week. I feel rotten and also not sleeping as the baby DS has been up loads. Not conducive to not eating a lot. Getting pissed off at the lack of a good shot I'm giving this dechubbing. Still I'm on day 10 of the 30 day ab challenge and already able to do more of them.

anothermadamebutterfly · 15/04/2016 10:59

well done lougle and twinkle for resisting temptation, hinky hope you feel better soon. My first was a non-sleeping baby and I felt so exhausted all the time. bambinos good to see you are motivated, fingers are crossed for the weddings!

I weighed myself this morning, and I am the same as last week, 10 st 3lbs, but I expected that as I was not very careful this week.

But although the scales are the same, my clothes seem to fit better, and I have moved up to the next notch on a belt I wear with one pair of trousers, so I am happy with that. So ready, yes, so far I do think that the exercise could be having a good effect on my shape.

Have a good weekend everybody. We have a mass birthday sleepover for DS tomorrow, I am still in denial about it!
