I have yoyoed with the same stone since the beginning of last year. Getting fed up now but need some motivation to stick with it. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm so near yet so far!

Will be weighing in tomorrow and posting all food eaten. Feel free to join me!

Oh, that's such a horrid moment, runningLou when the scales go the wrong way for no apparent reason.

But AF could have a lot to do with it (if it's no more than a couple of lbs). So it might all flow away spontaneously.

I often hate the prospect of exercise, but do feel good afterwards - similar for you?

SurferJet · 04/04/2016 09:11

Hi all - is it ok to join you?
Need to lose about 8 pounds to get where I feel comfortable. ( & lacking motivation atm )

AuntieStella · 04/04/2016 09:20

Hi surfer !

I'm about half way through my stone off, so we've got a similar amount to go. I'm going about it on the 'eating less and moving about more' approach, and have found that using MFP has really helped, even though I was a bit resistant to the idea so have only been doing it for about a month.

SurferJet · 04/04/2016 09:35

Hi AuntieStella

Yes, I just cut down on food, up the exercise, & hope for the best Grin I always find that last half a stone the hardest to lose though.

cjt110 · 04/04/2016 11:03

Hi all,

Someone pointed me this way. I have 12lbs to lose - have previously done WW successfully. Rejoined in Jan when my son was 17m and I have basically lost nothing at all. Really struggling.

I tried slimming world before that and really, although I lost some weight, couldnt see very good results.

I go away in June and would love to lose this 12lbs I have and get back to my pre pregnancy weight. We have been abroad twice since my son was born and both times, I didnt feel very confident at all.

Has anyone any advice for me?

readyforsunshine · 04/04/2016 13:19

Put it out of your mind lou you can't let it sabotage your efforts as its not a true reading. Hi surfer great to have another join us on our plodding journey!
I had a good day including a v hilly 5 mile walk,......then a Chinese takeaway.

Oakley02 · 04/04/2016 14:45

Had post Easter weigh-in and it is as I'd feared - a stone to lose before August. Am back to healthy eating all week with no naughty stuff and will try to stick to a cheat day at the weekend and not use the whole weekend to cheat! cjt110 I just eat heaalthily most of the time and use 'My Fitness Pal', which is a free app. Really helps to keep me on track. Good luck!

twobambinos · 04/04/2016 18:56

Today went well. Had one small little egf with mini smartie things inside. I'd say about 100kcal but nothing compared to the amount of junk food I usually put away.

Have af too so feel mahoosive I'm hoping if I can really cop on that in a fortnight time I will feel miles better about my body.

It's strange how a few pounds can make such a difference when you haven't much to lose.

Welcome cj and surfer.

Runninglou I'm sure that 2lbs will be gone by end of week fear not. Keep up the good work everyone.
No exercise planned for today but I do have a class in the morning so I won't beat myself up too much. Water and a kiwi for tonight if I get peckish

Oakley02 · 04/04/2016 19:53

Have used up all calories for the day and am sitting with a rumbling tum. Anyone else find the evenings tough? It's my first day too - help!

anothermadamebutterfly · 04/04/2016 20:01

Hi everyone, and welcome newbies, nice to have more people to help us all keep going. Had a good few days in terms of what I have eaten (and even went out running yesterday), but feeling very drained today, slept terribly last night and went to work feeling exhausted. Work is not the happiest place at the moment because of possible redundancies. Kids went off to an all-day outdoors activity that a month ago they said they really wanted to do, but then yesterday and this morning moaned about non-stop (but I still made them go, mean person I am), which didn't help! Of course, they enjoyed it in the end and are now exhausted, watching TV.

Anyway, on the good side - I wore some trousers today that I could not fit into in the new year, they looked good and felt comfortable. And - I saw a job advertised that I would really like, not sure what my chances are (I have all the right experience but I lack one of the criteria). Worth a try though.

Hope everybody else has started the week better. RunningLou I am sure that the gain is partly AF and partly just a glitch. Oakley a stone by August should be doable!

Oakley02 · 04/04/2016 20:13

Madamebutterfly well done on the trousers, such a good feeling when hard work pays off. Sorry to hear about possible redundancy - definitely go for that job, experience is most important and hope you have a better sleep tonight!

SmellTheGlove · 05/04/2016 08:23

Hello again! Completely dipped out of thread as no progress, in fact the reverse. I'm so fed up with it. Obviously there was Easter so I over ate a bit then, but I'm so frustrated that as soon as I lose a pound I pretty much put it straight back on. Unless I walk about 10000 steps a day (which is about 1 hr 40 mins) and eat less than 1500 calories I gain weight. It's exhausting and I am fed up. I have put on/lost/put on/lost the same 2 lbs in the last few weeks since this thread started. aaarghhh. I hate constantly watching what I eat and feel miserable about it all the time.

AuntieStella · 05/04/2016 08:42

It's so dispiriting when there's no progress, and it seems so unfair that a lb can go in so early but take ages to come off again.

And there doesn't seem to be much you can do other than stick with it.

I'm approaching a visit to my DMum, which is probably going to stymie the progress downwards. I'm trying to make sure that I stick to, or come on slightly under my MFP limit in the run up in the hope that'll help even it out over 7-10 days.

SmellTheGlove do you have any set piece meals/snacks which you know the count for? So you're not having to weight and watch them. You're just choosing to have them. I have a standard breakfast (muesli/yoghurt) and a few standard snacks (about 100 calorie) that keep me going during the day, then it's only evening family meal I need to think about.

fadingblonde1 · 05/04/2016 14:41

Smelltheglove I'm very much the same. To lose weight I have to watch absolutely everything I eat. If I have a 'cheat day' that's it, no weight lost. I find the whole thing frustrating and I get annoyed with myself that I can't just do this for a couple of months - every week I have a bad day or three - which is all the time it would take to lose the weight I'd like to.

SmellTheGlove · 05/04/2016 15:23

What annoys me most is that even when I am sticking to it and walking loads, all it takes is for me to eat an extra couple of hundred calories and I'll put any weight I lost back on. I'm at the weight I always seem to get stuck on, which is about 10pounds into 'overweight'. I have been a stone less at various times, and several stone more after I had my son and put on 3 stone in a few months thanks to evil antidepressants I was put on, but I always end up back here. I'm still on meds, although different ones, and I think they make it even harder. Also I am a terrible glutton. Really, I could eat and eat and eat, anything with sugar. Such a pig.

Twinklestar2 · 05/04/2016 23:04

I have yo watch everything I eat too - no cheating like back in the days when I was young! I joined Slimming World today, fancied a shake up!!

Oakley02 · 06/04/2016 07:20

My biggest downfall is wine and anything sweet. I really admire anyone who can just give it all up. What's annoying is my husband who can still lose pounds in a week just by giving up crisps. I agree that getting older makes it more difficult to lose weight. I'm 46 and have only struggled with it for the past year. Day three today and so far have not given into temptation and yesterday managed to do burpees for the first time - woooo! Grin

readyforsunshine · 06/04/2016 08:24

Same for me, any deviation & at best I'll maintain. I need to stick at it until I get there then find the balance, the yoyoing is really tiresome. I guess it's a case of wanting it badly enough to stick at it & preparing for potential slip ups. My Dh is the same oakley he just seems to think about wanting to lose a bit & it drops off! He also drinks most nights & I find it hard to resist joining him. I'm really struggling with the holidays & am expecting to once again be back where I started by the time the dcs go back to school.
twinkle a friend of mine has had great success with sw & has found it really easy, good luckSmile

lougle · 07/04/2016 13:15

I'm down to 66.7kg today. That's 2.6 kg or 5.75 lbs since 28th March. I'm trying to make my calories count with healthy food.

anothermadamebutterfly · 07/04/2016 17:00

wow lougle well done, that is a lot! what is your target?

Weighed in today as tomorrow I have to get out early and will be out most of the day. I am now on 10 stone 3, which means 2lbs since last weigh-in last Friday, and about 8 lbs since I began, so I am very pleased. My first target is 9 stone 13, so another 4 lbs, which at the moment seems doable.

I have resurrected another pair of trousers from the pile of clothes that did not fit me when I started a few weeks ago, which is very encouraging and also is a welcome break after wearing the same few clothes since Christmas (I don't want to buy any new ones at the moment, and a lot of the things I have are a bit too small, so I am a bit limited in what I wear). Two other pairs are almost OK, and several tops look much better on me, so I am going to start wearing them again soon.

Oakley evenings were also my downfall, but the worst time was after getting home from work. I get home the same time as my DD, who has some special needs, and the time immediately after school is the absolute worst time of the day for her, she is a bundle of nervous energy, anxiety, stress and aggression, and she needs a lot of attention to calm her down and get her back on track. I was comfort eating then, and then not eating with the kids because I didn't feel hungry, and then feeling hungry again later in the evening. I have been trying to bring forward dinner, and always eat with the kids (but a small portion), and it seems to be working at the moment.

twinkle brave step, let us know how it goes!

Smelltheglove don't despair! The meds could definitely be interfering with weight loss, which could be very frustrating. There was also a thread recently somewhere on mumsnet about sugar addiction, maybe that would be worth a look at? Not quite sure where it was any longer though, don't think it was in the weight loss forum, maybe in 'chat'?

Anyway, I hope everybody is having a good week.

lougle · 07/04/2016 17:22

That's great butterfly.

I'm not sure I have a target. I used to be 53kg but I think that's a bit thin. 57kg or 9st would be BMI 19.3 which is fine.

Twinklestar2 · 07/04/2016 17:45

Well done on the losses!

Day 2 of slimming world and going well so far. Smile

Easter holidays not conducive to weight loss. Anyone got any suggestions for 100 cal snacks? New day tomorrow and must resist the children's snacks. Seems I just can't bypass a chocolate bar Sad

twobambinos · 07/04/2016 21:59

Hinky kelkin 100kcal microwave popcorn divine

Smelltheglove I'm the say down two up two repeat.
Today hasn't been too bad at all thankfully.

Well done lougle and madame

runningLou · 08/04/2016 10:12

How do you all actually do it?? I am really struggling. I am not snacking, and am eating 3 healthy meals a day. I can only think that my portion sizes are out of whack as I cannot get anything to shift. Am exercising regularly, but that isn't helping really as it makes me hungry - and that's genuine hunger! I am doing a 10k on Sunday and ran 11.5k Tuesday morning, cycled 8 miles Weds, got up early this morning to run 5k, then cycled into work (4 miles). Had breakfast at work (bircher muesli I made last night). Am now at my desk starving willing myself NOT to go to Starbucks!!
I weighed myself this morning and I have not lost a thing in 10 days. Up a bit, in fact. Just no idea what to do!!
