2016 Target to lose 1ST - weight updates & confessions - who wants to join?

I want to lose a stone, a bit more would be fab but 1stone would still be amazing and still hard work.

I am going to write on here regularly and put how much I weigh, what crap I ate, what worked and what the struggles are.

Does anyone not have loads to lose but just roughly a stone for an upcoming event/ wedding/ baby weight/ post op etc, That needs to be supported but also told off if you eat to many crisps or chocolate?

If so, put your weight and why you want to lose a stone and let's get rid of the belly!!

Meals that work for me if I'm behaving very low cal day;

Courgette spaghetti with pesto
Thai minced pork wrapped in lettuce
Asparagus with poached egg and Parma ham

I always have cold spicy shredded chicken (made in slow cooker) in the fridge which is great on a salad and so an easy go to for lunch

Well done sofato5miles.

I've lost 2lbs in a week, 4 more to go to get to my target of 9 stone. I'm fine during the week but struggle with the weekend. I will probably be 9'2 on Friday and 9'3 or 4 after the weekend, that's the way it goes.

Good luck to you all.

Jessica, try getting some BCAA supplements from Holland & Barrett. They help the muscles repair and therefore not feel as sore
If you have a hand shower, it also helps to run cold water over your legs before you get into a warm shower

Well done on your 5k project !

I'm going back to FitClub (or Fatclub as DH insists on calling it) on Saturday. I walk a lot - school runs, errands plus dog, but I haven't done any proper getting sweaty exercise for ages. The trainer there has said she'll weigh me and measure my body fat, so a bit of extra accountability.
The diet was not so great over the weekend though I stuck to three meals and no snacks. Back on the porridge for breakfast, green gunk for lunch and a healthy dinner during the week, and sticking with the dry January.

I'm still trying to be good but some notsokind person put their leftover thorntons in the staffroom and I might've had a few with a lindt ball thingy on the side. To compensate I didn't eat my banana or tangerines but that meant I was starving when I got home.

I've been low carbing for a couple of years and love ff yoghurt but I go overboard when I buy the big tubs in lidl so I tried Rachel's plain greek yoghurt and it was just as nice. I picked up another pot at the weekend (rationed to 1 per week) and got the low fat version by mistake, its Envy its so sweet and artificial tasting. It might be half the calories but what the hell is in it??? Even the cat turned his nose up at it although the dog's tail was wagging like crazy for more Grin

PP can you share your recipe for spicy chicken?

Mrstumbletap · 12/01/2016 21:43

Yes please another here for the spicy chicken in the slow cooker recipe!!

I find having a healthy snack in the fridge would really help, I know a friend that does slimming world makes a really big and thick omelette type thing in the morning, with grilled bacon in it, tomatoes mushrooms etc and then cuts it up into pizza sliced pieces and then just snacks on it througout the day.

I'm thinking I might do a potato salad in the fridge, to pick at when I'm feeling a hunger pang, big boiled potatoes, are quite nice cold.

I can recommend this asparagus and salmon frittata, which gets even yummier once it's chilled in the fridge. Although I've never been too successful at leaving there for any length of time...

Can a guy join?!

I'm 6' 0" and as I weigh 115kg, I shall commit to 15kg. My weight in st saddens me :(

As I'm very, very sedentary and suffer severe fatigue and joint pain it's tough but this will be the year!

Some of my meds have piled weight on, 40 kilos in five years, so I'm having those reviewed next week and changed if necessary, and have started some kid gloves yoga exercises.

I ate fruit & fibre for breakfast
Chicken breast with penne and pesto for dinner.
2 litres of water.

If anyone can recommend a simple cookbook with healthy, nutritionally balanced meals I'd be very appreciative. As payment in advance, Amelia Freer's Eat, Nourish, Grow is good reading.

Hi serioussteve, welcome Smile and congratulations on a good day! I like the Jamie Oliver 15 minute meal book, lots of delicious recipes and all the nutritional info there as well, plus everything is super quick!

My day was okay today, grilled chicken, sweet potato and salad for dinner. Accidentally ate 8 chocolate fingers at lunchtime though, although that's only 220 calories so perhaps not so bad... Hope everyone else is having a good week!

Welcome to all the new joiners.
Project well done on your first 5km its a great feeling.
congrats to all the losers.

I must admit I am struggling. have been eating healthy but then have added on loads of sweet treats on top. emotional stress eating not even hungry. Its also totm so im not going to weigh in tomorrow like I had planned. I have signed back up to mfp and started logging from this morning so Im hoping by next week I will be showing a loss so long as I can keep motivated to log in mfp.

Have sweet potato and Cajun chicken with tenderstem broccoli planned for tonights dinner, just to figure out what I am going to eat for lunch now. Also have stocked up on fresh fruit and natural yoghurts in a hope to avoid the junk food. Also planning to do some intervals on the treadmill tonight when DH is home to mind the kids.

Keep up the good work everyone else.

twobambinos keep logging into mfp. I started again after about 6months off and I'm remembering how much it helps once you get over the feeling that it's a hassle to up date.

Re spicy chicken it's not really a recipe - I stick 6 chicken breast in the slow cooker with a cup of water and 1/4 bottle of nandos peri peri sauce. Cook for four hours. Shred between two forks. Put back in cooker for another couple of hours. Delicious Grin

1 more lb, which I'm pleased with because I've been laid up with a terrible back since Saturday, and haven't been able to leave the house, let alone do the exercise I had planned. But it shows the eating side is still working!
I saw the GP and physio, and they think I need 1 week off exercise, so next week will have to be a diet-only week, but hopefully I can keep moving in the right direction...

I've got some (skinny) friends coming over for dinner tomorrow, so have been looking at The Body Coach's instagram page for inspiration, and have found a few things that look great.

Has anyone got his Lean in 15 book? Is it any good?

Hey all, had an ok day today and then couldn't resist a cheeky slice of bread and butter ( love bread!) when I was making the school lunches tonight. And then had a chocolate bar but one of the small dairy milk (95 calls I think) bar so could have been worse - the double decker was winking at me! All I tell myself is, think of the end goal!

Can I join? I'm 5'3" and 70kg/11st. I have a sweet tooth and limited willpower. I probably need to lose more than a stone but let's start with a stone. I said no to a chocolate biscuit at work (to the surprise of my colleagues!) and have resisted the urge to forage in the kitchen for treats after tea.

I need to work on getting some exercise into my life too.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I thought I had posted on Weds eve but obviously not!!
2.2lbs off this week for me so very chuffed with that but I have been religiously logging everything on mfp, have run twice and swam once and I am not eating my exercise calories.
Planning in advance definitely helps for me.
Well done seven, milo, two, spare and any other losers I may have missed Grin

Ran another 5km yesterday and did a one day juice detox - was aiming for two but a last minute dinner invite nixed the evening and so I settled for 5 out of 6 meals across two days.

Very envious of those of you that are seeing weight drop off - well done Smile

My total lost in two weeks since NY is 3lb and 2% body fat loss. I really feel given effort it should be more Confused

I should squeeze in a run today and tomorrow and Monday are quiet days so I'm going to juice to try and really kick start everything.

On the plus side I do feel good. I think Grin

seven I'm also doing dry Jan and also feeling less bloated but the change in my skin is phenomenal - it's actually looking amazing even if I do say so myself

Down 1lb this week. Not as much as I'd have hoped but have been a bit lax with logging everything on mfp.
In the right direction though so will re-focus my efforts.
Well done to everyone on their losses!

How's everyone doing? I've found today the hardest so far (only been dieting since Tuesday though!) as I've been at home and I know where all the yummy snacks are. But I've not fallen off the wagon. Hubby still needs to get into the routine though - he put sugar in my coffee and has plied me with a glass of mulled wine. But since I resisted my desire to snack on biscuits etc I think it's ok.
