I have 10 stone to lose overall. There, I said it. No going back now. I miss riding my horse, I miss being happy and I have a toddler that doesn't want a sweaty elephant for a mum.
Anyone want to join me for some moral support?

Ill weigh in on Monday Arkkorox. I was a bit naughty on Tuesday as when I got my new step counter I took four pounds of my weigh in from the day before because I was wearing a heavy dressing gown, had my brekkie and had AF . WTF ! Why did I do that ! I'm just ashamed I think. This week has been good so far I have done well.over 10000 steps every day and I have been eating three meals a day mindfully so all good !

LentilStew · 08/01/2016 20:46

Thanks, Saoirse, I'm just going to try and keep my portion down tonight and get s good amount of exercise fine tomorrow.

Greengoth89, is there any way for you to move away from slim fast? I tried it once and then read an article saying how it's so full of sugar and sweetness that it will make you fatter in the long run. The Dr and nutritionist writing the article said it is only recommended for people so obese that they have literally no concept of hunger or feeling full.

smellylittleorange · 08/01/2016 20:46

That's ok Green goth just make up for it over the week don't let it stop you !!

GreenGoth89 · 08/01/2016 21:31

I eat pretty healthily normally and have small portions. the only reason I have put on so much weight is because of developing a pain condition which makes exercise excruciating at times. I can't even walk 20 meters on a bad day so the only way for to lose weight is to go on a VLCD. I've been looking for others but most have soya protein in them and I'm allergic to it. I have found an alternative but its £20 for a week which is a fair amount for someone living on limited resources and needing to buy normal food on top.

onitlikeacarbonnet · 08/01/2016 21:44

Just checking in Smile
Loving the support on here and fb page. Thanks arkkorox for starting this thread. Might not have gone for it with as much oomff alone!
I've logged into my fitness pal for a full week now (though only officially started "the diet" on Monday.
I've come in under my calorie limit every day, even yesterday when I was ravenous from waking till bedtime. Explained when af appeared for the first time in months today.

It might also explain why I haven't lost much. Hopefully by Monday that'll change. Mfp seems to suggest a possible 14lbs off in 5 weeks if I can keep it up. Great motivation.

Hope everyone keeps up the good work through the weekend. Roll on Monday Star

dunfortoday · 08/01/2016 22:13

2lb down since last Friday (my weigh in day). I have seen quite a few posters say they log with MFP and sticking to 1200 cals. I did this for about 6 months and found myself hungry quite bit. I recently upped my calorie intake to 1450 cals. Eat a bit more and find don't want to snack on unhealthy stuff. My weight has dropped steadily at 1 to 2lbs p/wk on higher intake. But was only losing 1 to 2 per month on lower. May be worth adjusting if, like me you have afair few pounds to lose. Apparently 1200 is too low for people who are normally big eaters (like me) and body holds onto weight. GP advised 1500 for 3 months then lower to 1200 once body used to lower amounts

stopfaffing · 09/01/2016 07:09

That makes sense, dunfortoday.

At the moment I'm not calorie counting but just eating less of what I usually eat, but keeping off the chocolate/cakes/biscuits.

It's Saturday! Day 8 (if you started this Monday). what's everyone's plans for the weekend?

I have a weekend away at a hotel with the prospect of a yummy buffet dinner and breakfast to deal with, plus complimentary drinks on tap.

There's also a gym and a fantastic rooftop hydra-pool/spa. We usually just do the latter but this time will have a look at the gym too Grin.

Not weighed myself since Monday, to be honest I am wary of weighing myself at all due to having issues in the past with becoming stressed when the scales did not reflect all the 'good' work I felt I had done. It seemed to set up a "fuck it, it's not working, you're rubbish" mentality and I would soon lose the plot and binge.

Since joining you lot I have gone out and bought scales to try again. I feel certain that with your support, advice and experience I will see beyond the numbers into the long term benefits of developing a healthier lifestyle (less food more daily movement) where blips are ok.

stopfaffing · 09/01/2016 07:10

It is actually day 5 Blush if you started on Monday Grin...

ingeniousidiot · 09/01/2016 07:39

Not day 6?Wink

stopfaffing · 09/01/2016 08:05

Blush er, yes it is day 6 Grin no wonder I don't count calories lol

flyright · 09/01/2016 12:09

Morning all

Good luck with keeping a reasonable handle on things over the weekend.

I feel a small amount of indulgence is allowed after a pretty strict week but I don't want to undo the good work so have decided my treat is wine tonight but I will keep the day overall to 1500 cals then it's not too bad.

I've been around 1300 every day this week with quite a lot of walking and have lost 4 pounds which I feel pleased about.

I want to average 1.5 pounds a week up to the end of March so good to get a head start. Later on I think a pound a week is realistic for my lifestyle - I'm always going to have some dinners out, holidays etc so being too ambitious just won't work

If I lose 1.5 pounds for say 14 weeks that's 21 pounds, and then another 14 weeks at a pound a week would mean 2 and a half stone off by beginning of July.

That's my target. At minimum.

Off for a walk soon while DD has her riding lesson. Happy Saturday all.

LentilStew · 09/01/2016 12:13

dunfortoday, that makes a lot of sense. I may try and up it to 1400, especially as I'm running and going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week. I am actually consuming around 1400 but when I input my exercise into MFP, it adds that onto the total thus taking back down within 1200 iyswim. So I'm not sure what to adjust in that respect. Would you suggest a daily target of 1600 adjusted down to 1400 is what I should aim for? I have 4stone to loose and much as I'd love it to be quick, it's more important that it's permanent and becomes a lifestyle change.

LentilStew · 09/01/2016 12:16

That sounds very sensible, flyright. I think crash diets just makes you fatter plus your body tries everything to retain the fat as it thinks we've entered a period of famine. Losing a little each week allows your body to adjust and go with you.

flyright · 09/01/2016 12:53

Lentil most people seem to advise ignoring your exercise calories if you can. Just because mfp gives them to us we don't have to eat themSmile

If you've got 4 stone to lose you're probably similar to me so eating around 1200 to 1400 cals a day, exercising but not eating those calories, is probably about right.

CharleyDavidson · 09/01/2016 14:43

I was out for a big lunch with a friend yesterday. There's a lovely meal at the local pub: steak on top of a ciabatta slice, layered with buttery cooked onions and an egg, with very chunky chips and coleslaw on the side. I ate the meat, the onions and yes, my chips, but I couldn't eat the bread as I was too full and wasn't really enjoying that. Lean chicken with veg and cous cous for dinner.

A little peek this morning on the scales shows that I'm still about 3lb down from my weigh in at the meeting on Monday.

Now I have to manage not to ruin my hard work this weekend. DD and I went out for the cinema early, so I took a coffee and a cereal bar for breakfast. We've grabbed a low fat subway sandwich on the way home and dd2 is now making a spag bol for later (because she wanted to!). I will just have to avoid the garlic bread she wants to make if I want to have enough points left for a little treat this pm.

stopfaffing · 09/01/2016 17:46

Flyweight, sounds like a good idea, I'll do likewise Smile

stopfaffing · 09/01/2016 17:48

Flyweight? Grin predictive text lol, of course I meant flyright!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/01/2016 17:59

Am I very late to the thread? I joined another one but it's gone phut, my aim is to lose 7 stone, I have signed up to WW this morning and entered the Moonwalk in May. I am doing WW on line as the only local meetings are on the nights I can go to the gym!

LentilStew · 09/01/2016 18:55

Well done on taking the first step, fiveGoMad! It's not my thread but all welcome here as far as I'm concerned. The more the merrier! Smile

flyright · 09/01/2016 20:13

stopfaffing. Flyweight. Hah! I should be so lucky! Give it time, give it time ....

Arkkorox · 09/01/2016 20:41

Yes the more the merrier!!!

I haven't had a great day food wise, but nothing that can't be clawed back, the worst thing was some wine gums so hopefully not too much damage.

Sorry im not on here much, MN keeps crashing my phone and I don't get a chance to get on my laptop!

Hello all, can I join in please?

I have a lot to lose. I lost 3 1/2 stone doing low-carb then fell off that wagon face first and regained 2 of it. Over the last 3-4 months I have lost the first stone of that by cutting back on carbs a bit and doing the odd fast day but would like to join with others for a bit of chat

I've looked for your FB group too but can't find you

Arkkorox · 09/01/2016 20:52

Calm try again in a couple of mins, I'll make the group visible to searches.
