I have 10 stone to lose overall. There, I said it. No going back now. I miss riding my horse, I miss being happy and I have a toddler that doesn't want a sweaty elephant for a mum.
Anyone want to join me for some moral support?

Thanks MustBeThin. I'm just cutting out the rubbish atm. Think I might have to reactivate my old MFP account and calorie count properly. Hopefully I'll feel more positive at the Monday weigh in.

Arkkorox · 07/01/2016 13:59

Chin up guys. Water weigh is a bitch and fucks with the scales massively. Probably why you are only meant to weigh once a week but I weigh twice a day

I'm using MFP Drama finding it extremely helpful along with the MFP thread. It's really eye opening the amount of calories that are in certain things. Last night I had a mountain of veg with my fish and the veg was under 100cals but after weighing one of my potatoes, half of it would have been more calories than that.

SaoirseLikeInertia · 07/01/2016 14:37

This is my first time properly using MFP. It's a bit of a faff having to look up and add the foods, but as the days go on and I eat the same stuff a lot, it's less time consuming. It has made me very aware of my portions, which is great.

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2016 15:52

Yes, I think portion size is a real issue for me. DH who is a whippet thin cyclist is constantly telling me I eat more than him. It's true, I'm very greedy Blush

MFP here I come, hope I can remember my username!

Iammostseriouslydispleased · 07/01/2016 22:16

A serious eye opener for me is to just look at the amount of sugar on the label ... so much in so many things!

Not too bad for an eating normally day - low calorie chicken and pasta, soup for lunch, need more salad and fruit.

A colleague at work has lost weight and she looks fab - incentive.
I read an article about low sugar drinks and weight gain - incentive!
Remembering that for every 'bad' bite I take I am still classed as obese - huge incentive!

So I may have to adjust further what I am giving up/ cutting down on in January

  • sugary crap from shops/ petrol stations
  • wine
  • diet coke! :(
LentilStew · 07/01/2016 22:26

I've found MFP to be invaluable for keeping my calorie count in check.

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/01/2016 22:39

I'm a mfp fan too.

BagelfortheNewYear · 07/01/2016 23:18

limetime looking forward to your BB updates every day!

Have you noticed there's another weight loss thread - they started diets on Mon 4th too -

CharleyDavidson · 07/01/2016 23:32

Today was a good day.

No breakfast.

Apple and cereal bar for lunch.

Then went and booked a summer holiday.

Pork steak with stuffing, baked potato and carrots.

Panto visit - no ice cream but did take a few chocs from Christmas with us. All counted and accounted for.

Couple of slices of panettone for supper.

I had to use some of my weekly ww points, but that's what they are there for.

10k steps on my fitbit.

LoveableBatshitIdiot · 07/01/2016 23:37

Out of all the crap I could crave, I've been craving diet coke the most!

ToeTouching · 08/01/2016 00:06

I'm sticking to my 1200 calories with the help of MFP and am just off to bed now having virtuously made up tomorrow's very healthy packed lunch for everyone (lots of fruit and veg included) as I'm doing my 3rd C25K run in the morning and won't have time to do both.

Not looking forward to a cold, dark, early start but my kit's all ready for me to get up and go.

Keep on losing!

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2016 00:25

Well I didn't need to worry that I couldn't remember my MFP log in as I'd saved the password so it popped up as soon as I went to the site. Fate, obviously! So I've updated my targets, filled in everything for today, and I was under my calorie goal without being hungry. Will do it every day from now on.

stopfaffing · 08/01/2016 07:53

I was inspired by someone on the fb page who got support from their GP so last night went on my own GP medical group website, eventually finding NHS Choices link to Couch to 5K which I was able to download onto my phone.

This morning at 6am I got up and struggled into sports trousers (very tight fitting Shock) and got started. I live in a hilly area but obviously didn't want to do hills (yet) so found a straight, flat street to run up and down on. I didn't factor in frost Grin but luckily didn't slip over.

What else I didn't bargain for was that my two cats came with me. Now, they do follow me everywhere but I don't think they realised what their mad owner servant was going to do this morning. At one point, near the end of the session, they actually sat down under a street light and just stared at me (running at that point), clearly perplexed and pissed off, tails wagging.

The other problem I had was that I had apparently put my trousers on backwards so that the back was really low and kept slipping down my bum. I had to keep hoiking them up (not a good look).

I am to repeat this run three times in a week (every other day) before moving on to the next session. I will probably repeat it more than three times though; I am terribly unfit and it was a struggle to run for one minute/walk for 90 secs. But, I did it!

When I returned I immediately did my 10 minute vibro (reading Game of Thrones book 1 - what a book!) then porridge, water, tea and cuddle with (exhausted) cat.

Oh just remembered, I've got a weekend treat at a lovely hotel this weekend (late birthday pressie) and I know they have a fantastic gym (which I have never even looked at in all the times I have stayed there lol). This time I will visit and do another Cto5K session on the treadmill Grin. I usually go for their wonderful spa experience....mmmm.

ToeTouching · 08/01/2016 08:48

Loving the cats' attitude stopfaffing Grin

I got up and did my 3rd run this week on C25k (in the dark so no one can see) and for the first time I actually finished the whole podcast. I'm ridiculously unfit and have 7-8 stones to lose so I'm so pleased with myself that within just 3 runs there was a massive difference in speed and stamina.

I'll complete it 2 more times before moving on to week 2, but I'd already planned that it would take me more than 9 weeks to complete the whole programme due to such a low starting level.

I'm toying with the idea of doing Run for Life - there's a local one in May and I'm sure I can get in shape for a 5k run by then.

Hope everyone has a great day.

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2016 10:06

Well done stopfaffing and the cats!

ToeTouching when I first did C25K I used to run in the dark too, with a baseball cap on for good measure, just to make sure no one would recognise me.

Good on you both for getting out & doing it - you are making me think seriously about starting it again. I got as far as graduation a couple of years back, but to my regret didn't carry on much after that.

LentilStew · 08/01/2016 10:50

I couldn't wait until Monday so weighed myself this morning: 4lbs down since starting weight on Monday. Yes!!!! Just the motivation I needed to keep going.

I know if I manage to stick to it then it will settle down to a pound or two a week but the bigger initial loss is a good motivator at this point.

LentilStew · 08/01/2016 10:56

Yes, dawn running for me too! If I can't get up and out by 7am then I don't go.

Stopfaffing, I'm laughing at your trouser calamity! Grin I was having the same problem of trousers wriggling down but mine were on the right way. They were the shiny material and I ended up running whilst holding on to the waistband. I've now gone out and bought some yoga pants with the high wide waist. Problem solved and they're so comfy.

Mrsboathook · 08/01/2016 11:28

Another sneaky weight peaker this morning- gone from 85.2kg to 83.7!! Even though I know it's mostly fluid, still motivation for my second fast day today!!!!

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2016 11:52

Wow Lentil and Mrsboathook, good going!

I'm an evening runner rather than a morning one. I've never been a morning person, and that isn't going to change Grin. Respect to anyone who can get themselves up and out.

Arkkorox · 08/01/2016 16:01

Well done everyone!

I hit a weak spot at 5pm tonight. DH not due in until 9 so fed the kids at 5. They had pizza, homemade chips and salad. The chips are slimming world ones baked with paprika, yummy! Anyway, I had 4 of them and a tiny slither of pizza (about a third of a slice). I've put it into MFP as no point lying to myself but it's left me about 380cals left for the eve from my 1200 limit. I've been under limit by about 100cals the last 2days so if I've calculated my dinner correctly, it comes to 490 calories.

Does everyone think it's ok to go 110 over today and not wreck the good work? It would still only take me to 1310. I'll be up for a run at 7 tomorrow too. I just need to know its ok to go ahead and eat what's planned.

LentilStew · 08/01/2016 18:57

So I guess I'm thinking if I take yesterday and today then it still just works out around 2400 for 48hours. Or is this cheating? I seem to remember something about saving up syns on SW for an Eve out and I'm wondering if it's the same principle.
Sorry to sound stressy, I just want to get it right. Smile

SaoirseLikeInertia · 08/01/2016 19:14

I reckon that you will be fine :-D you're still under your total for the week. And if you are anything like me 1300 cals isn't much compared to Christmas eating, so you are still on track Star

GreenGoth89 · 08/01/2016 20:24

I cracked at had 2 shortbread biscuits and 2 squares of chocolate :(

wasn't even able to do my stretches today as I am in agony, and I'm finding slimfast far too sweet! :( Not happy with myself!
