I have 10 stone to lose overall. There, I said it. No going back now. I miss riding my horse, I miss being happy and I have a toddler that doesn't want a sweaty elephant for a mum.
Anyone want to join me for some moral support?

Stop, I had hip issues for almost 1yr after DC3 and it's miserable so you have my sympathies.
Should we have a new thread?

I walked into town today ( to get a tapemeasure) Grin and it took one hour 40 minutes because ican't walk fast due to sore hip. Usually takes 1 hour 15 mins.

I am going to make an appt to see an osteopath asap to fix it back into place.

Yes that's the thing isn't it Stop - doing what we're doing at the pace that works for us so we can sustain it in the long term.

Hope you're doing OK Toe with your injury. Is it any better?

Good luck Lentil with getting back on track after a blow out. I'm trying to be more mindful of not grazing this weekend as have eaten more than I needed the last couple of days, including a slice of cake, which was delicious.

As I ate it I was thinking 'which is preferable, the few moments of pleasure from delicious cake or ongoing weight loss that makes me feel soooo much better in so many ways ALL the time?' Chose the cake that time but generally I have chosen not to eat sugar all month Smile

Have a good weekend everyone! Onward and downward.....

Hi everyone! Toe, sorry to hear you've sustained an injury. It's so frustrating just when you're getting into something.
Had a blow out day Thursday just before my period arrived Fri. I always eat like a mad woman the day before I'm due on and this month was no exception. Trick for me will be keeping such eating to one day a month!

Clear one of the things I like about doing this Cto5K is that I am taking it at my pace, no one else's. There is no outside pressure to 'perform'. This way I am more likely to stick at it. You continue at your pace, one step at a time.

Sorry aboutyour injury Toe. Every time I even up the walking pace I end up in pain so am trying to just stick to little, gently and often on the exercise front. Hope you find an alternative that works ok.

Crappy day here, working at home, not getting much done, tired, hungry and in pain. Have defifinitely overeaten but at least not on a really large scale. Will try to have an early night - more sleep , less eating

toe I saw this on youtube, it is a standing Walking workout you can do in the home. You may be able to adapt it to suit?

Thanks FattyNinjaOwl.

stopfaffing I think the problem was changing my route - there were more hills and It was only my second w2 run.

I'm looking online at cross trainers but they look like they take up a lot of room. The other alternative is a gym/pool between home and work - I could go early morning.

I'm gutted as I actually enjoy how running makes me feel - never thought I'd say that in a month of Sundays Smile

Oh no, toe :( that's a bummer . I worry about injury too. There was good advice at the beginning of the Week two programme (that I did for first time yesterday). She said to put heel down first when walking/jogging. I found much improvement doing that with virtually no pain in left ankle (usually an issue) or right big toe joint (hereditary Sad ). I wish I had had this advice in week 1 though.

Great news about the promotion though Smile.

Bit of a setback for me in the exercise dept. Did c25k yesterday and have done something to my shin - thought it was shin splints but it's only one leg and still hurts today so I'm worried it's a stress fracture Shock

Not letting it get me down though - sticking to my calories on MFP and will look at low/no impact exercise alternatives.

On a positive note I got a promotion at work this week!

Phew Grin, you're all back.

It is only many years of dieting experience that has led me to realise that the bigger picture is what I must focus on.

But yes, Iam, cravings are hard. I mourn the loss of that thrill of sitting in front of a tub of ice cream or box of chocs knowing that I will eat it and feel that particular great joy and pleasure. Afterwards the guilt and self-loathing Sad.

Now I have realised that age is catching up with me and I can no longer carry this weight, I have aches and pains daily; its painful, unpleasant, tiring and frustrating. I deserve better than this.

Even with all the extra weight I am carrying and the aches and pains, I am managing the Cto5K. Yes it is a challenge, but I am delighted to have found something that I like doing.

I enjoy the solitary aspect, I can listen to music (I have discovered Spotify, downloaded it on my phone, and made up a compilation of funky fast music to listen to. It is free as long as you don't mind brief ads every three songs or so) but it is also a time to think.

Clearskies I am not going to be taking much notice of the scales either. I have been disappointed with the ones I bought a couple of weeks ago; they are not reliable. I will still use them but, once I get a tape-measure, will use that to record my progress.

I agree stopfaffing - it is a long long road. Old cravings kicking in, it's so tough!

Half an hour walk is good. I have a fit bit but it is very inaccurate so I am taking it back!

Think what you said is so true stopfaffing this is a long process of changing habits we may have been stuck in for a long time. And, for me, looking a bit at the things underlying why I've been neglecting to look after myself well for so long...

Getting more into healthier eating and exercising more is such a positive thing in itself. For me it goes hand in hand with generaly trying to sort out other stuff I've not been adressing, clutter-clearing in house, etc.

Had a very funny 'free' weight loss this morning - old scales say 16,10 bought new electronic scales yesterday and am now 16,1 1/4! Wish losing every half stone or so was that easy! Smile

Now doing a daily 1/2 hour walk whatever other exercise I'm doing, which I'm really enjoying.

What happens with starting a new thread Arkkorox? I'm new to MN . Don't want to lose you all!

Oh god have I killed the thread! Blush.

Went to tesco today and tried to get a tape measure. They didn't have any so I will pop into town at the weekend. I think it will be useful to see results that way if the scales let me down.

Was chatting to a colleague who has lost four stone over the last year with a diet club and she was complaining about feeling cold all the time, and I thought of your comment lentil. I seem to remember that when I had lost weight in the past, that happened to me too. I suppose it's a side effect of having less body fat.

I wasn't due to do the Cto5K this morning so went for a walk round the block instead. I think it helps me to get into the routine of getting up and into exercise clothes every morning. Both cats came along Grin.

How's everyone else doing? (come back!)

Hi everyone, just been reading the posts and thinking that sometimes we focus on the small issues (e.g. getting discouraged when we have a slip up) but miss the really big issue staring us in the face.

That we eat too much and badly and we have been doing that for (in my case anyway) a long, long time. And we want to change.

SO many bad habits are ingrained and are not going to be eliminated overnight.

The very fact that we are now beginning to face this fact and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT is very positive and we must hold on to this fact.

I am very positive mainly because I have realised that this year I can make lasting changes whether or not I lose a lot of weight.

I am focusing on the healthy eating/enjoyable exercise rather than on the scales. I have brought a set of scales purely to monitor what happens. This Monday I stayed the same and in the past would be have been devastated and discouraged.

It doesn't actually matter. What matters is now I feel. And I feel good. I am doing the Cto5K (week 2) and believe me a 17+ stone fifty something woman doing that is some achievement.

I will keep doing what I'm doing and I know for certain that I will achieve a healthier body and mind. The scales? Fuck 'em, to be honest. I will continue to weigh-in and post my results on the fb spreadsheet, but I won't be upset when I feel that they don't reflect my hard work. I am more than a number (I'm a human being Grin).

lentil and everyone else who has made a boob, take heart, don't focus on it, think of the bigger picture x (sorry about the x Grin).

I slipped up yesterday lentil. Buffet lunch at work was just too tempting! Blush However, I've been fasting today and doing well so far.

If we are making changes for life, there will inevitably be times when we over-indulge. As long as it isn't all the time, I think the occasional slip up is ok!
