I have 10 stone to lose overall. There, I said it. No going back now. I miss riding my horse, I miss being happy and I have a toddler that doesn't want a sweaty elephant for a mum.
Anyone want to join me for some moral support?

Go Quinoa !!

GreenGoth89 · 06/01/2016 17:44

Can I join? I've got 4 stone to lose, I'm currently 13 stone and I'm only 5ft but I'm disabled so can do very limited exercise. I'm on a homemade shake in the morning and then slim fast for lunch and then small portions for dinner of healthy things (tonight is a roast because the chicken needed eating but normally its stir frys/soups/salads/etc).

Hope you all do well!

letsgetcake · 06/01/2016 17:55

Can I join too (here rather than fb)? I'm weighing in at 83kg and want to get down to 55kg (healthy weight for my height). It'd be nice to get to 65-70kg by the end of may as that's when I go back to work after mat leave. I think having a motivating thread will be very useful!
Currently on mfp and started c25k. I'm also a horse rider so using that as main motivation (if I lose the weight I can do more jumping!)
Fingers crossed for a good 2016!

Breadandwine · 06/01/2016 18:12

Despite fasting yesterday, I didn't actually fancy breakfast.

A day's 'fast' - well,

CharleyDavidson · 06/01/2016 20:21

I have given up breakfast. It's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

I am easily as hungry at lunchtime if I've eaten breakfast as I am if I don't have breakfast. In fact it seems to trigger my hunger a bit.

If I am hungry at breakfast I give it an hour and if I'm still hungry then I'll have something.

I don't eat more in the rest of the day because of skipping breakfast - I have the same weekday lunch everyday regardless. So at the end of the day I have eaten fewer calories.

Iammostseriouslydispleased · 06/01/2016 21:10

I managed to 'fast' properly today - more than other days anyway! I just had a few grapes in the day and then a nice square meal with veg when I got home and a weight watchers yogurt. It is interesting I don't feel cravings or that I need anything else - this is a good thing to note and remember for other days.

I weigh 14st 13! I know that is still not great, but mentally being over 15 stone was awful as it was a mental mark of how bad I was letting everything get. I still have a long way to go - but the incentive is there to never get over 15 stone again. I look forward to the day when I can change the 4 for a 2 then hopefully an 1.

Well done everyone! I hope less of me sees less of you tomorrow! :)

Brokenbiscuit · 06/01/2016 21:16

Well done for the fasting iam. I'm fasting tomorrow - like you, planning to eat very little during the day and save my 500 calories for the evening.

Have just eaten a big piece of Christmas cake but feeling ok because today is a "normal" day (doing 5:2) and I've been good otherwise - still well within my 2000 calories and I walked to work and back as well.

Ordered the 30 day shred today, and the beginners version. They should arrive tomorrow.

building2015 · 06/01/2016 21:25

Charles, I am doing it the other way around... I am making sure not to snack in the evenings. So I generally eat breakfast around 9 after school run (massive low carb omelette with veggies), have lunch or snack, then dinner around 6 and not eating in the evenings.

I think this is a bit like intermittent fasting, I guess, trying to stay inside a 9/10 hour eating window.

Brokenbiscuit · 06/01/2016 21:28

I'm sure it's healthier to eat breakfast and avoid snacking in the evenings, but we sometimes eat late due to dd's activities and I'm rubbish at resisting temptation in the evenings!

building2015 · 06/01/2016 22:08

Oh, if we ate a late dinner I would definitely move my 9 hour window to accommodate it!

LoveableBatshitIdiot · 06/01/2016 22:17

We kicked some sorry ASS today...day three done! WE SURVIVED!!!

CharleyDavidson · 06/01/2016 23:00

:)
Good day here.

Good lunch and dinner. Avoided the post Christmas treats in the staff room. Did have a few chocs at home this eve, but all accounted for in my points/cals.

Zumba class completed and 11k steps clocked up. All good.

Quinoa20 · 06/01/2016 23:38

Good first day :)

I am also trying to cut down on the dreaded weed and alcohol and need to see results from that so as I seem to have gone through a bottle of wine and 20 cigarettes a day for the last month I haven't bought either today so I've sent what I would have spent over to my ISA.

Hopefully get a decent amount saved! Can't say I will do it every day as need to get used to not smoking as much (I've had a few today but had nicotine lozenges as well, sugar free)

LentilStew · 06/01/2016 23:40

I've had a good day too! Sticking to a 1200 calorie limit using MFP but I went to the gym and did around 300cals worth of cardio which it adds to your limit making today's 1500 of which I used 1400. I hope it does work that way and it's not cheating.

I also skipped breakfast. I rarely have an appetite first thing and getting them all up and out each morning means no time for me to eat early anyway. I have often found that a large breakfast makes me even more hungry come lunchtime. Today for lunch I had 2 Linda McCartney red onion and Rosemary sausages and half a tin of baked beans. Those sausages are free on SW as are the beans so I guess it must all be low on fat. DH made homemade chicken curry with tonnes of veg and a small portion of rice for our tea. He had it ready for me when I came in from the gym. Yummy! Even though it was yummy and filling it actually contained less calories than lunch.

I don't want to tempt fate but I feel so determined this time. We can do this!!!

LentilStew · 06/01/2016 23:42

Quinoa, I'm not sure on the calorific value of a bit of weed these days! Wink Grin

LentilStew · 06/01/2016 23:45

Don't fall into the trap of eating more sweets so you have something to do with your hands. I think people notoriously put on weight when they give up partly because their taste buds re ignite. You are brave to do it together.

Quinoa20 · 07/01/2016 00:06

Lentil, it makes sense at the moment cos I'm getting over a nasty cold and getting absolutely nothing from smoking a cigarette taste wise. It may not last and weight loss is my biggest priority. I had hypnosis to quit smoking last year which actually worked as I haven't really wanted to smoke since but the physical withdrawal was really rough on me (smoked for nearly 30 years) so let's see if these lozenges work, I've only had 3 all day and smoked around 4 cigarettes and that's fine.

Anyway never mind that this is the weight loss thread :) hope you're having a good day. I chose not to know my weight last night and just want to know the results week by week until a stone has gone at least - childish but I don't want to deal with feelings of self hate at the moment for letting myself go since getting married. Hubs is very supportive and hasn't bitched at me, he just knows I'm unhappy as I am.

Quinoa20 · 07/01/2016 00:14

Just wanted to put out there that saving money on something you normally have (lots of wine in December!) may only be noticed if you physically transfer it into an ISA or something :)

limetimemummy · 07/01/2016 09:02

Day 4 in the Mumnset Losers house

A great start has been made by all Losers in their aim to eat better and lose weight
The breakfast activity is currently underway and various combinations of eggs/bacon/beans/mushrooms/cereal/fresh air are being consumed.
Food diaries are being kept and calories are being monitored. Limetime "monitored" the amount of unplanned cheese that was consumed late last night
Limetime achieved the Day three challenge and only drank water, avoiding the diet coke temptation
Day 4 is a new day: tune in later to find out whether Limetime was able to maintain the drink only water challenge or whether the cross trainer expensive clothes hanger will finally be brought into use

LoveableBatshitIdiot · 07/01/2016 09:17

Morning! Here's to a positive day!

Another one here attempting to give up smoking. I have ecigs. Last time I tried I put on two stone! I think that, now we have the support of the group and this thread, the temptation to replace it with food will be less. So now is a perfect time to give up iyswim?

kally195 · 07/01/2016 09:35

Can i join please? I have 30-40 lbs to lose and need some friendly support to do it. Im using MFP and a fitbit and am going for a low carb diet plus lots of moving (feel so much better when I do). I'd love to join the facebook group too.

SaoirseLikeInertia · 07/01/2016 09:59

Had a sneaky mid-week weigh in, and I am down 4lbs since Monday. I think that weighing on a Thursday will keep me going through the weekend before official weigh ins on a Monday. Thursday nights are usually when I crack into the vino, as the start of the weekend Blush I've not had a drink since Saturday which I am very happy with- I was definitely putting away too much. DH is doing dry January, so planning to keep off the drink with him at home, and only have some if I am out.

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2016 13:15

Waaah!! No wine, no snacking, lots of walking and what do I get as a reward? One pound ON!! Bastard scales Angry

On top of that I have a headache

MustBeThin · 07/01/2016 13:18

Drama don't worry too much, on Sunday I weighed 13st 7 Tuesday I weighed 13st 10 even though I'd stuck to my calories!!! I think it must have been bloat/water as the next day I weighed 13st 6 and today 13st 4.

Are you doing calorie counting or just cutting stuff out?

TheTravellingLemon · 07/01/2016 13:23

Well my legs are agony after today's shred.

In other news, I had a chocolate bar Sad. Bloody selection boxes taunting me everywhere I look. Utter bastards.
