Can't believe we've had to start a new thread already!

I'm on plan today and feeling good about it, this weight will go down! Still 10'13 this morning, not too disappointed. Hoping it'll go down with a good sleep or two over the weekend!

Welcome Thankful. You've just made me stop whinging about my day and get some perspective.
I've gone over by about 400 calories today, although I earnt 370 calories from a 3 mile run this morning, so shouldn't be too much damage. I've just been ravenous today. Hopefully Will be back on track tomorrow.

Thankfulforeveryday · 06/01/2016 21:53

Thanks guys. I do feel quite determined this time. It's been helpful reading how well some of you are doing, it's Spurs me on!! Well done.
My goal date is my birthday in 4 months time. I struggle with lunches, I'm not keen on soup but get stuck with anything other than a sandwich!!

Not2bObvious · 07/01/2016 06:49

Very welcome Thankful, 4 months sticking to mfp and I'd say you'll see the back of those 16 pounds no bother 😉 I'm a soup avoider the majority of the time, don't like salad (after years of trying to like it) and as bread takes nearly 200 cals before anything goes in, I've had to seek out new lunch options. If I'm on a "soup" day, I hold off breakfast and have porridge for lunch, doing that twice a week before Christmas really boosted my weight loss. I make an omelette which I can reheat in work. Scrambled egg with tomato & ham, again easy to make once I have access to a microwave. Sometimes I freeze smaller portions of dinner and have that. If I can't avoid fast food, I have kfc, 2 bits of chicken which comes to 400 and I throw the chips in the bin (wasteful I know but it's dearer to buy a drink and chicken than the meal) Or in McDonald's I'll have a chicken sandwich but throw away the top of the bun, chuck half the chips. I sound like a loon don't I😁 ...I've probably been the discussion at a few dinner tables "you'll never guess what I saw a mad chubby woman do today in McDonald's..." Yesterday I submitted to lure of a bag of crisps with a subway, I ate half 3 quarters and chucked the rest away. It was just a small compromise which meant I could say sod it but not sod it all

JontyDoggle37 · 07/01/2016 07:32

0.5lbs up this morning, unprocessed food from last night. Aiming to be back on track today, very migrainy at the moment though so not sure what the day is going to hold. Not2b that sounds exactly right - a little of what you fancy without making a pig of yourself. Stir fried veg with some kind of spice paste and noodles is a great lunch if you've access to cooking facilities at that time of day.

MustBeThin · 07/01/2016 10:00

Omg I am soo bloody happy got on the scales and I'm 13st 4 😀😀💪that's 2lbs down from yesterday and a 3lb loss in total since diet started Monday. I'm loving this, I don't feel deprived at all and I'm losing weight. I'm struggling to get to 1000cals a day even with treats so I think at the weekend I'm going to have a bit of mash potato with my Sunday dinner and a maybe 1-2 chocolates at the weekend that I got for christmas.

My main concern at this point is my beef joint I cook on Sundays. I get it from the butchers so no calories on the packaging. Is there anywhere I can get a rough guide of what say 100g of cooked roast beef calories are. Or even the raw calories for the whole joint but I would prefer a cooked estimate if possible. Thanks Smile

Loungingbutnotforlong · 07/01/2016 10:40

Welcome thankful- 16 lbs in 4 months will be no problem for you!
mustbe - are you using MFP? If you type roast beef into the search bar for food it gives you loads of options- I try to look at the average and go with that, so roast sirloin topside of beef looks to be about 240 calls for 85g- can take a little time to work out the first time, but then it will always pop up as one of your preferred options. Well done on the loss so far! That is great and very encouraging. Good idea to add in a bit more at the weekend- slow and steady wins the race!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 07/01/2016 11:04

Hello to everybody
Just popping in -mad busy at work - to report a 1lb loss for me despite going rather a lot over calories yesterday. But ready to have a good day today.

And well done Jonty on lowest weight!

Emz449 · 07/01/2016 12:53

Well done on the losses!

Rowgtfc72 · 07/01/2016 18:44

Oo, lots of losses! Hope Ive lost come Sunday.
Pot of veg cooking tonight for tea. Would usually chuck sausages in but am just going to chuck it on my jacket spud. Mfp keeps reminding me I could be in the 14s in five weeks. Fingers crossed.

MustBeThin · 07/01/2016 18:54

I'll have a look lounging

My belly is making an awful lot of noise tonight and I had my tea an hour and half ago. I don't feel particularly hungry. What's up with it? It was gurgling before my tea and I thought it'd shut up after I'd eaten. I have 467 calories left. Do you think I should eat something else or ignore it.

Bathsheba3 · 07/01/2016 19:25

Hello all! Busy day here. I put a lb back on too Jonty. Not too miffed, as I know I stuck to calories yesterday, and I shouldn't really be weighing every day. I didn't get much sleep - mind churning - so maybe an early night will help calorie burn!

Well done Must. there you go. Fingers crossed too Row - great goal to be aiming for.

I haven't managed to log into MFP yet today, but know I have plenty left for dinner this eve as I've been out and about and not eaten except breckie and lunch.

Lunch is my favourite meal thankful - possibly it is the one meal of the day I can concentrate just on me! I work from home which helps. Roasted veg omelette today. I did the roast veg (tons) earlier in the week, and just add to roast salmon (hot or cold) - again I cook 4 portions at a time to have the rest cold during the week.

Just made ton of rice mix too. Can't remember who mentioned brown rice? I can top it with wild rice mix. Delicious. Brown basmati, red camargue and wild rice. Great cold for lunch next day with lentils from pouch & roast squash, bit of salmon, or roast veg.

My skin has completely gone to pot though. Recall this happening before as part of detox process as I've cut out sugar (except fruit).

Be strong this evening everyone - no tip toeing back to the kitchen after tea /dinner time.

Tiredemma · 07/01/2016 20:21

Lost 1kg this week! really pleased as thought I had 'fallen off the wagon' a couple of times.

Tiredemma · 07/01/2016 20:22

By the way- anyone have peanut butter? I had some earlier on some little Aldi bite things and im still full.

really filling

PopcornFrenzy · 07/01/2016 20:25

Love peanut butter, I have it on whole meal bread but only have 10g as it's so calorific

Bathsheba3 · 07/01/2016 21:45

So close to stuffing my face, or reaching for the wine. Just came across something upsetting screenshots on DD's phone. Just as I was beginning to think everything was getting back to normal, and I could feel like my old self again. I HATE SOCIAL MEDIA. IT IS DAMAGING TEENAGERS AND MAKING THEM FEEL SO UTTERLY INADEQUATE IN LIFE. And it is us MN'rs who have to try and deal with the roll-out, inexperienced and ill-equipped to re-boot their whole purpose.

It is this kind of stuff that triggers my comfort eating. I don't want go back there again like I did towards end of last year. But this stuff is SO hard to deal with. I'm going to reach for the rescue remedy - calories anyone?! - switch off my laptop and head to bed with a book. Insomnia is pretty frequent at the moment. Might have a nice cup of hot water & lemon too.

Sorry for rant. Sad

Bathsheba3 · 07/01/2016 21:46

My poor girl. I really feel like I fail her sometimes.

JontyDoggle37 · 07/01/2016 22:27

Bath how awful, for you to find it and for your daughter to be affected. Sounds like you have a good coping strategy lines up. Food isn't going to make it better for anyone. And you are NOT failing her - you are taking care, right now. Next steps of dealing with it will be important but I'm sure you can come up with a great plan for that. You can always PM me if you fancy a chat privately xx

Emz449 · 07/01/2016 22:31

Oh Bath Flowers I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time as well as your daughter. All you can do is be there for her, I'm sure you're not failing her at all, it's just tough sometimes to know what to do for the best. I hope you're able to get some sleep tonight

JontyDoggle37 · 08/01/2016 05:45

Morning all
No change on the scales this morning but three mile run on the cards this morning. Will be interesting as one of the horses managed to break my little finger last night, so not sure how much running is/isn't going to hurt! Anyway, aiming for around 1600 calories today (higher than my basic allowance so using some of my exercise calories) because the running takes so much energy. It's making my bum look great though! I'm going to try to remember to do body measurements tomorrow morning, I haven't done them in ages. ANYONE NEW - remember to measure your waist, hips, thigh circumference at widest point, bra strap line and your bicep now - then you can track your changing measurements too, which is particularly helpful if the scales aren't shifting one week and you can see that your measurements are going down to help keep your motivation. I have a spreadsheet with built in graphs if anyone would like me to send it to them!😄

Not2bObvious · 08/01/2016 06:23

Down .8 from 11.13.6 on Wednesday to 11.12.8. That's 3.8 down from Monday, now not to cock up over the weekend! Next weigh in Tuesday.
Oh bath, I have daughters and I worry so much about social media, a woman's life (at the risk of offending men, but a woman's life is tougher, there I said it😮) all the things facing them. I feel your heartache, without knowing too much background etc I hope you and her can talk - on my side I'm trying really hard on my side to stay their friend instead of shouty/cranky mummy (they're under 12) part of which is because of course I want that but I really want them to tell me things that worry or scare them. Anyway Flowers & Brew
Jonty your poor finger! I don't know if I'd run, would the jiggling not hurt it?

PopcornFrenzy · 08/01/2016 08:42

Good morning all, first weigh day today and I'm down 5lbs so feel great, I know it's the first week so won't sustain these kind of loses but it's a good motivator to keep going Grin

jonty the finger sounds sore, can you not strap it to your other finger then it won't wiggle too much

JontyDoggle37 · 08/01/2016 08:46

The run was fine as it turns out. Getting my running gloves on and off was a bit wincy, and getting kicked by Baby R when I was changing his nappy made me want to vomit! Ho hum, got the Tesco run to do this morning as well.

Bathsheba3 · 08/01/2016 10:33

Amazing popcorn - great kick-start! I lost yesterday's 1 lb, plus another 1/2 too. Feeling less bloaty which is great.

How on earth did you brake your finger Jonty? Is it something you've done before? Ouch. Typically bubba will be well aware, and favour that one for all misadventures, pulling, chewing, and kicking.

Run sounds good. I'm too tired though. Thanks for v kind words everyone. Slept well, and resisted alcohol & food, so feel in control. DD & I do talk, which is so reassuring. I don't ever tell her I've been snooping on her phone though. Would loose all trust. But I find it helps me gauge how she is. Hadn't realised she is suffering again. Poor girl. She is also able to talk to counsellor at school. An innocent enquiry revealed she is seeing them today - made her own appt too. So proud.

I haven't measured, but am now in size 30 gap jeans. Started off 6 months ago in size 32. Hoping for a 29 28. Smile

Not2bObvious · 08/01/2016 11:06

Well done bath, on weight loss, managing the issue with your dd and not turning to wine/food as a coping mechanism. I have to admit to a glass 2 of wine last night and a few nibbles but I was within cals.

Testarossa1 · 08/01/2016 13:48

First weigh in tomorrow. Have been super good all week, no junk food at all, been under with calories all week and have been to the gym 3 times. If I've not lost anything think I might cry.....
