Fair play Trying, that's the way to go. Going to peel myself off the bed now and get a walk in, finish off by getting some decent food for the week. I just watched a documentary called the "truth about food-how to be slim". Nothing earth shattering but interesting enough. Protein/soup for satiety, dairy binds to fat so you absorb less, smaller portions/smaller plate - not too many foods on your plate aka no buffet! But all in all if you eat too much you'll be overweight. I have to say the last week was an education. We stayed in a mainly AI hotel although we were self catering. A lot of very heavy folk, lots of folk drinking pretty much from 10-11am onwards. It was a very sobering experience - I think we're all doing great working on getting healthier by getting the weight off. Pats on back and high fives all round.

Tryingno1 · 18/10/2015 12:40

Sounds interesting not2. Yeah I agree I dread to think how much I would have come back weighing if I ate as much as I wanted and drank all the wine I wanted. At least the choices I made were good for me (in the most part!!)

God I thought I had made a lot of soup but that's a LOT emz!

psychotropic · 18/10/2015 13:00

Wow look at all that soup! Yes please! My weekend so far has been non stop junk food and alcohol, I couldn't even log it individually so I used quick add calories of 2500 for Friday and Saturday. Almost definitely an underestimation Blush after a heavy night on Friday I found myself in a tiny Burger King attached to a Travelodge with friends for breakfast, the menu is dismal. Everything was about 1200 calories, no grilled chicken like in McDonald's Sad the lowest meal I could find was a chicken wrap and small fries for about 830, it wasn't even filling. I did run extra hard this morning, even clocked a 7:33 mile or two (never push myself to run sub 8:00 miles usually) so maybe that will offset some of it. Back on the 1800 plan from now although roast gammon with all the usual trimmings at DP's sister's might be tricky. I was something like 150 lbs this morning! Grin Reverse dieting!

stealtheatingtunnocks · 18/10/2015 13:35

wow, you're a chatty bunch! So encouraging to see your losses, thanks.

I fell last night (coming out the pub, but, the wine was counted on MFP!) and sprained my ankle. Quite embarrassing, looked like I was totally pissed, obviously.

Anyway, bang go my plans of walking/running this week. Bah. Oh well.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 18/10/2015 13:42

Wow to the soup! That will have you sorted for lots of meals!

I have just been out at a rather stressful meeting. There were Danish pastries and bacon and sausage sandwiches there and I was tempted. But I thought to myself if I eat them this will still be a crappy situation. It won't make it any better. But if I don't eat it I will have a loss to make me feel better!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 18/10/2015 15:25

I am loving how autumny it is now. It smells like leaves when I go outside in a morning.

Not loving how cold it is though! Perhaps the weight loss is causing me to feel the cold more now I have less padding. Anyone else noticed that?!

Emz449 · 18/10/2015 16:22

I love Autumn too Imust, and winter! Think it's the Christmassy feel to it.

Definitely agree with the coldness part of it though, lots of jumpers required!

I'm gonna hit 900 today and no more food!

NoahVale · 18/10/2015 17:31

IMustEatMoreVeg · 18/10/2015 17:48

Emz449 · 18/10/2015 19:26

Hey guys

Been busy all day, just catching up on posts.

Ha, stealth we are a chatty bunch, like to chat, like to lose weight! Sorry to hear about your sprained ankle, not so good.

emz loving the soup pic, that will see to your healthy lunches for a while.

not2 interesting what you said about the AI clientele. This is why I have never gone AI, I just could not resist all that food, or would make myself miserable trying to.

imust well done on resisting the pastries at your stressful meeting. I really liked your reasoning, eating the unhealthy food would not have helped the immediate situation, and would have made the weight loss more difficult. I am going to think about that some more, could be a useful check when faced with unhealthy nibbles, "do I need this? In what way will it help me?"

noah sorry to hear you lost your pedometer, what a pain.

trying hope you managed to keep to 900 today. Would be a good start back on the path of healthy eating.

psycho sometimes the weekends just go like that don't they? Monday is start of another week.

irishe · 18/10/2015 20:09

Well when I weighed in this morning I had lost another pound, which would make a unbelievable 4.5 lbs loss last week.

I am not logging it though. Gonna wait till tomorrow's weigh in and take that. I have eaten my full calories of 1200 odd over the weekend. And just had a rather tasty Indian veg biryani for my dinner, at a whopping 622 cals.

I actually cannot believe what a difference dropping to 900 cals has made.

Even if I put on a bit at the weigh in tomorrow it's still going to be a healthy loss for the week.

Makes me wonder whether it would be helpful to do a couple of 900's a week going forward to aid weight loss. Or would my body just acclimatise to that, needing ever lower amounts?

Anyone any thoughts on this?

Emz449 · 18/10/2015 20:46

It could do Irishe, it seems to be doing you soon good and others that have tried it. I suppose maybe if you did it every now and then, then your body wouldn't expect it? I'm thinking of doing it tomorrow!

Congrats on your loss too, you're getting amazing losses!

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 18/10/2015 21:03

irishe that's amazing! Funny enough I was watching a lot of stuff on YouTube today, 3 docs on people trying to get to size zero (aka size 4) and 800 or so cals was what they were eating consistently to drop the weight fast. I know you're not doing that but if you're already on only 1200 a day, do you need to go any lower? I think you mentioned you're tall enough (anyone over my 5 foot 4 and a vvv important half is tall!) and you want to lose another 2 or so stone? Would doing days with 900 consistently cause you to feel too hungry and binge? After all my obsessive watching and also reading that 5 myths thing, I'm thinking of just doing 1500 a day, having one day at 1800-2000. Then try earn my deficit through exercise. Back to the AI point, if I thought that was scary, the all you can eat Chinese buffet for €9 a head with 2 for 1 drinks was a feeding/drinking frenzy. I'd like to think I was reserved enough but still had lots of bits which were all deep fried at one time or other! Another occasion where I saw some very large people, it was quite sad actually. One poor man must have around 25-30, trapped by food and by a body that craves itSad

irishe · 18/10/2015 21:51

Thanks emz & not2

I think I am going to maintain my 1280 and see how it goes. Then if I stall or plateau I know I can throw in a 900 day to get me losing again.

I agree not2 I should be losing 1-2lbs a week on 1280, but I hadn't lost for 2 weeks (with no cheating) which is why I decided to do a couple 900 days. I still have 4 to 4.5 stone to lose, so I think surely it should be dropping off me on 1280? Can't really get my head round it!

I think it must be a combination of being diabetic, some medication, having pcos. Think these are all factors in slow weight loss. Oh and let's not forget, totally sedentary!

Another thought is, maybe my body just loses weight in this rhythm. You know drops 4lb, then nothing for another 2 weeks. That would be just over a pound a week. Maybe that's all there is to it.

Lets see what tomorrows weigh in brings!

Not2bObvious · 18/10/2015 22:20

wow irishe fair play to you staying strong on 1280 without any change for 2 weeks, there's no justice is there? I totally agree that should give you a pound or 2 a week even without exercise. But as you said if it comes off in whooshes that's acceptable - as long as you see it and don't get discouraged (which is my downfall) Weight loss isn't linear for all, the scales doesn't have a calendar it checks to see if a week passed and we deserve to see a lower figure. Although I do think my scales has an evil personality...

Bathsheba3 · 18/10/2015 23:02

Just logging-in after lovely weekend away spent with a girlfriend - and seen your fab weigh-in Emz. Huge congrats to you. It will be 4 st tomorrow, if not tues / weds. StarFlowers

Fabulous Jonty!!! That's a lovely start to the week. Delighted to hear you stayed the same Emz, great sign. I'm down 3lb from 12.10.2 to 12.7.2 this morning, goes to show a lot can be plane bloat and other, ahem, things Blush Let's hope the week progresses well.

Tryingno1 · 19/10/2015 09:25

Great news girls
This really is a weight loosing thread! Enjoy the tens jonty!!
Was too scared to step on today. Still peeved off by my gain
Will step on tmrw!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 19/10/2015 09:45

Jonty - hurray! I'm so pleased for you.

Emz - great news, glad that the soup is having the desired effect.

Not2 - yes, other things are a problem for me too sometimes!

Irishe - this is a good old whoosh. Write it all down somewhere to look at if you have another plateau to remind you of the whoosh phenomenon.

Well I am down another 1.75lb this morning. For some reason my body has decided to let go of a whole lot of weight this week. I am not complaining! I have achieved my October target of 5lb off already (actually lost 6 and 5/8lb) and only 3 and a bit lb to get to my goal weight off 11st which I wanted to do by end Nov.

But this is happening so easily at the moment I definitely think I will be aiming for lower than 11st as a new target!
