Mine has given me an extra 189 calories for 9853 steps. So I think it depends on what you set your normal activity levels as because it will use this setting to calculate your calorie allowance.

If you set it as "Very Active" for example that will already be factored in and you would be hard pressed to get any extra calories added from steps. Whereas if you set it to "Sedentary", then even a relatively low number of steps will add more calories to your allowance.

psychotropic · 12/10/2015 21:38

I just checked, mine is set as Active. If I add a run via mfp directly it gives me way too many calories, but now it's linked to my running watch it's much more realistic. On the other hand when I've been to the gym and done some weights (which I find exhausting!) I get no extra calories at all!

psychotropic · 12/10/2015 21:43

I did over 30000 steps on Sunday and got 925 calories for that plus around 1200 calories for the race, which is a huge duplication. I'm trying to stick at or below the 1800 (except for the day or two around a race) and disregard these adjustments until I start losing weight. If I haven't got consistently below 146 by November I'll have to lower it a bit I think Confused

MajesticWhine · 12/10/2015 21:47

I don't log any exercise on MFP at all, just rely on FitBit to feed in the steps. Otherwise it would be a duplication, except for swimming which I would add in but I don't swim all that often.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 12/10/2015 22:31

Yes I just let my fitbit feed in the steps. I set my activity level to sedentary so I start getting exercise calories after about 5000 steps.

I feel really low tonight. Not sure why - not exactly linked to my eating. Just wondering whether the weight loss is making me feel down in a chemical way? Is anyone else feeling flat and no energy?

MrsDLH · 12/10/2015 22:33

My level was set to lightly active but ive changed it to sedentary to see what happens. The variation from day to day doesnt make sense! I am fairly active though, i don't log body pump or weights... or the treadmill, obvs but like to use my fitbit calories for emergency food falls like when i fall into a bag of crisps I just don't get why it's suddenly started logging it differently...

MrsDLH · 12/10/2015 22:36

imust i feel ok today but do get down sometimes...think mine is related to the mini pill though. Maybe you need some serotonin rich foods... not chocolate though!

psychotropic · 12/10/2015 23:03

You're not alone! Flowers I'm a bit sensitive and over emotional today. Tired I guess. Checked my results on chiptiming.co.uk and my official time was 1:49:23 which is a big difference from the finish time on my watch. Almost two minutes. And I was 351st! People are ridiculously fast!

psychotropic · 12/10/2015 23:08

I don't add my steps either, they get updated whenever I sync my Garmin. I could probably switch it off but I want to build up a picture of how I eat relationship relative to what I do - I'm forming hypotheses around whether I'll lose weight more easily if I exercise less or differently! AKA 'has running made me fat'.

psychotropic · 12/10/2015 23:10

I can't even type properly now! Is Tuesday our official weigh in day?

irishe · 12/10/2015 23:32

I think people all weigh in on different days psycho. Some do it daily! My official weigh in day is a Monday, but due to no loss today, I might as well try tomorrow!

JontyDoggle37 · 13/10/2015 03:46

Sorry psycho didn't mean to cause confusion, no official weigh in day that I know of, just quite a few people weigh daily so I was wishing everyone luck for if they were doing that.

psychotropic · 13/10/2015 07:43

Oh don't worry it wasn't you! I had a feeling there was a sort of official day (Tuesday or Wednesday) but I think that's just because it's when I started!

147.8 today.

JontyDoggle37 · 13/10/2015 13:01

0.5lbs down today, onwards and downwards! Now at 11st 1.25lbs, come on the tens!!!

Tryingno1 · 13/10/2015 13:41

Hey guys!
Well done on the weight losses to all the losers!
I've not had scales out here but have been having big and healthy brekkie missing Lunch then opting for fish for dinner or cheese free pizza! I've also been to gym daily but must admit to eating 3 scoops of gelato yest!
Back on Friday so from sat back to strict calorie counting. I'll be surprised if I haven't put on a pound or 2. But I hope I can shift it in a few days when back

Emz glad ur boyf is ok!!
Everyone seems like ur doing really well on the loss and calorie counting. Sorry for lack of personals!

irishe · 13/10/2015 13:49

Morning
Well done on continuing losses jonty, those 10's are within touching distance.
psycho it's coming down again, after the carb loading. Good news!
trying your efforts to remain restrained on holiday are impressive.

Well, I weighed in this morning and my 913 cal day yesterday has done the trick, I lost a pound. The first shift in the scales for what seems like ages.
So going for it again today, as feel I have a bit of momentum.

Good luck all

Tryingno1 · 13/10/2015 14:51

Well done irishie!
I find that 2 days of 900 really pushes the scales for me too. I like instant results so that every week works well for me! I think I'm gonna need to do it all week when I return! Although I've been good, I'm hitting 1600 as my brekkie is huge!! That's a lot more than I eat when dieting. Oh well!

Tryingno1 · 13/10/2015 14:52

My goal is to be 10 something by End of the month Ideally 10 12. Will mean loosing 2 pounds I've prob put on here and then a further 2 the week after.

irishe · 13/10/2015 14:59

Thanks trying.

I think 1600 on holiday is pretty good going. Good effort!

Tryingno1 · 13/10/2015 15:00

Oh ok! I've been feeling v guilty! Ps that's with my excercise calories of 200-250 (I've been eating them! It is holiday after all!)

IMustEatMoreVeg · 13/10/2015 17:28

I'm also struggling with holiday eating now. I did okay for the first week but I have got into a real rut of eating too much for dinner. However I am not eating lunch and only a boiled egg for breakfast so I am sort of doing 16:8.

First weigh in on Friday when I get home.

psychotropic · 13/10/2015 18:06

You all seem to have amazing powers of restraint and control! I'm in awe!

Have had good day in terms of physical activity (recovery run, some upper body weights/TRX pull ups, lots of walking) but hungry and already had 4 meals and seem to be obsessed with the idea of getting fish and chips as soon as I can. MFP doesn't help as it's given me a ludicrous calorie adjustment for my steps of 400 or more Hmm plus the run.

Bathsheba3 · 13/10/2015 18:17

Well done on the 1 lb loss Irishe - and 1/2 lbs for Jonty brilliant!!!
No loss for me this week, but that's better than a gain. Maybe by tomorrow?

Emz449 · 13/10/2015 18:39

Wah I haven't been good today! Had a phone call from my manager at 5am saying we had to leave at quarter to 6 so an hour later then planned! I am SO tired. Tiredness leads to bad food! Two mini chocolate croissants, 120 calories each which is better then I though and a cereal bar 140. Then lunch was a serving spoon of rice, serving spoon of vegetable lasagne, small serving of beef bourg, some cured meats and like 5 pasta tubes of pesto pasta. I've rotted this up to 750 calories for the lunch, does that seem too little? Would you add more? We're on our way back now and I think I might fall asleep on the way home!

Will catch up on posts properly tomorrow only been able to check up on my phone today. Hope everyone's had a good day and better then mine!

Going to be 100% tomorrow and try and come in under calories. I'm sure the damage won't be terrible but it's more carbs then I would usually have in a day Sad
