well if it's 3500 extra cals on top of your normal daily expenditure you'd need several days like that to gain any real fat

This is what I'm telling myself anyway

psychotropic · 13/10/2015 18:59

I mean 3500 to grow an extra pound of fat is that right?

Emz449 · 13/10/2015 19:05

Yeah that's what I heard, I don't think I've been that bad but I won't jump on the scales tomorrow in case of water weight etc!

Emz449 · 13/10/2015 20:12

Back now and just had some toast, despite the big lunch was hungry when we got back. Going to have an early night and i can't wait Smile Very much doubt tomorrow will be a loss so just hoping for a maintain. I also havent had a bowel movement in two days Hmm i hate my stomach/digestive system!

Jonty well done on the loss, the 10's are so close now

Irishe you must be chuffed to break the plateau, I'm hoping to break it this week probably not tomorrow

Psycho, glad the scales moved downwards for you Smile

Bath i hope you get that loss soon, have my fingers crossed for you!

Trying kudos for tracking while on holiday!

Think that's me all caught up? Apologies if i have missed anyone!

irishe · 13/10/2015 20:28

Ah emz work days like that are a nightmare, early starts, then surrounded by crap food all day. You did well to eat as little as you did. I agree that tiredness is a trigger for craving rubbish food. Not sure why really?

Yes, it does feel great to have broken the plateau, hopefully it won't jump back up tomorrow!

MrsDLH · 13/10/2015 20:29

I posted earlier but it isn't here! It was along the lines of well done for the losses and that I didn't think you did too bad, Emz, considering the meal choices were beyond your control.

I was 11st 4 this morning so back to where I was last Friday so will hopefully be recording an actual proper loss this week. There's a few of us inching towards the 10s!

MrsDLH · 13/10/2015 20:32

I had a lovely new Covent garden soup for a late tea...at work until 10pm...goan chicken and lentil...really yummy and filling. Used to make my own soup but as I'm the only one to eat it here (and the children prefer to make cakes/cookies/fudge) so I don't bother now. Over and out...

Emz449 · 13/10/2015 20:46

How funny MrsDLH I had that for my lunch on Monday, got the other half for tomorrow and also bought the pulled pork and bean for thursday, looks yummy!

OP posts:
MrsDLH · 13/10/2015 21:24

I had the whole thing...what is this half thing you speak of? Ha ha! Yes, the pulled pork sounds lovely Grin

Bathsheba3 · 13/10/2015 21:32

I'm inching towards the 10s too MrsD but I have a further way to go. I'd be 9 lbs less if I'd kept up the same momentum as some (Emz & Jonty!) but I stalled for a couple of months. I blame being the wrong side of 40, but I know I could be a hot size-12 mama if I wanted to be.

Bathsheba3 · 13/10/2015 21:32

I wondered too about the half. Have never done a 1/2 a carton / tub soup. Glutton me.

MajesticWhine · 13/10/2015 21:51

I gave in to curiosity and weighed myself today, and had gained 1lb, due to going off the rails at the weekend. It's hard to believe that I really ate 3500 extra calories. I really have to realise that I can't just switch off for the weekend - there is no going back to takeaways, burgers and chips, wine, beer etc, if I am going to keep my weight down at least not all of the above in one weekend Grin.

Anyway, I've been really good yesterday and today. Today was shredded wheat for breakfast, smoked salmon and salad for lunch with my current favourite of lots of raw cauliflower and a bit of low fat houmous. And tuna steak with mash and tons of veggies for dinner. I like the sound of the goan chicken soup, I'll have to get some of that.

BeaBoo · 13/10/2015 22:01

Hi everyone, do you mind if I join in?

I started using MFP in February in an attempt to try and lose the baby weight (and all the pre-baby weight Blush). It's been slow as I'm not as strict as I could be, but I've lost 2st so far. I didn't track my food over summer so have had three or four months off but haven't gained anything, which is nice. Started at 14st 13 and now 12st 12. I'd like to get down to 11st and see how I feel then. 10st is my goal weight but I've never been slim in my whole adult life so I might not feel the need to lose that much.

I officially restarted again last week. Weighed in on Friday morning and had lost 4lb since Tuesday which is great. I've eaten loads of rubbish over the weekend though so this week is damage limitation. Will see how I do on Friday morning...

irishe · 13/10/2015 22:11

Welcome bea join the hungry masses!

That convent garden chicken & Goan soup is everywhere this week. 4 of the buggers turned up in my online tesco shop. Substitutions for 4 lovely veg soups. Now why would tescos think that in a 100% vegetarian food order I would appreciate 4 chicken soups? It's not like there is a shortage of veggie soups they could have given me instead.

And yes I am bitter, my careful meal planning kiboshed by big business! God forbid I have to actually enter a shop looking for food . . . .shudders at the thought of all those aisles filled with unhealthy food!

MajesticWhine · 13/10/2015 22:47

Welcome Bea. 2 stone loss is great and not putting it back on over the summer is even better.

irishe · 13/10/2015 23:09

999 cals for me today, feeling a bit hungry now but hopefully sleep will sort that out!

Night all

JontyDoggle37 · 14/10/2015 06:27

Bea welcome!
irishe well done on the low cal day
Bath we always knew you were a size 12 hot mama underneathGrin
0.75lbs down today for me,, now at 11st 0.5lbs.
Keys to success for me at the moment are:

  • meal planning for the week in advance, so much less easy to fall off the rails.
  • freezer full of low-cal soups so I can pull one out for lunch each day (again, make it easy to be good)
  • being determined about my (somewhat punishing) exercise regime. Yesterday was 3.5 miles walking, muck out one horse and a dressage lesson (ow I hurt) and today is 2.5 mile run, muck out two horses, lunge one, ride one and Poo pick an acre of field.
Bathsheba3 · 14/10/2015 09:00

Welcome Bea!

Hope you slept OK irishe & didn't dream of cheese, or eggs (was going to say a full fry, but just remembered the soup saga - how frustrating!).

Great planning and focus Jonty - which is why you saw another loss. So very near the 10s.... Hard work all that horse stuff. I'm a city girl, but my DD has got into riding, which now involves 2+hour round-trip for her weekly lesson. But it is her therapy, and also means her instagram account is full of horses and not boys (or worse) so I have to (& want to) support her.

Well, all the positivity and support on here have got me down 2 lbs today to 11 st 8. Hurrah! I celebrated with a slice of toast. Boo. So that's a total loss for me of 1.5 stones since June. Thanks all Star

psychotropic · 14/10/2015 09:34

Hello Bea and welcome Smile

Great news Jonty and Bath! I'm also down today, 145.2, I think that's what I weighed some time in the middle of last week before all the pasta!

Emz449 · 14/10/2015 09:38

Congrats bath and Jonty!

Stayed the same this morning which is a blessing. Absolutely exhausted today, could quite happily have stayed in bed this morning and it's starting to get Cold isn't it? I'm not a fan!

The whole half a soup thing makes me laugh, my friends from work said the same thing! I could easily eat the whole thing but money saving wins!

psychotropic · 14/10/2015 10:47

All this soup chat reminds me that I forgot to log some yesterday, I want to try making some myself. It was butternut squash and red onion roasted for about an hour with olive oil, garlic and dried chilli flakes. Then you blend it with vegetable stock and a small can of coconut cream. It was so good! I'm not much of a cook but I think I could make this! How easy is it to add something like this to mfp? Does it work it out for you once you measure out so many millilitres of the finished product?

JontyDoggle37 · 14/10/2015 11:05

pyscho Tupperware and a ladle are your friend here. Make your soup, then put three ladlefuls if soup into each of several Tupperware pots, until there is no soup left in the pan. 3 ladles is a good size portion. So then the number of pots you have filled is your number of portions. Then in MFP go to Recipes > Create New and it will ask you how many it serves (number of pots), then you put all the ingredients in, then it tells you how many cities per portion. Simples!

MajesticWhine · 14/10/2015 11:43

great typo Jonty - I think some of the recipes I have put into MFP could have easily fed a few cities per portion Grin, especially my sausage pasta.

BeaBoo · 14/10/2015 12:00

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I'm going to start making lots of soups again now the weather is colder. I really like having some for my tea as I can chuck it in the slow cooker for the day then get lots of work done once DD is in bed, as I don't have to worry about cooking. My favourite is spiced carrot soup from the BBC good food website.

600g carrots, 140g split red lentils, 1tsp cumin seeds, 700ml vegetable stock. I leave it in the slow cooker all day then blend and add coconut milk once it's done. My local aldi have started selling a 'light' coconut milk which is fewer calories than the regular one and it's fine to put in soup.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get through the weekends? I don't really drink but I love to cook and bake, and DP cycles hundreds of miles a week so eats like a horse and always wants 'treats' on the weekend. I can be really strict through the week but then undo all my hard work come Friday night. Does anyone else have this problem?

JontyDoggle37 · 14/10/2015 14:10

Bath it's the kind of day when typos happen, that's for sure!
Bea figure out some tasty and healthy 'treats' to bake, but don't tell the family they're low calorie.... They think they're getting a treat, you know it's low cal, it's a win win.
Hoping that half pound will drop off tomorrow so I can hit that milestone of 1 stone to go!!
