Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

I've been an bit naughty today and had chocolate.

Breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast
Lunch cheese sandwich
Chocolate (half of quite a large bar which is probably equal to a bit more than a normal bar)
Dinner, cous cous salad

I have done a 3 mile dog walk and a 14 mile bike ride.

Weigh day is tomorrow for me!

Also too tired for bike ride after being up with a poorly toddler in the night. Stuck to no snacks (where has this willpower been hiding all my life!!).

Weighed myself and 88.8kg which is a 0.7kg loss. Same loss as previous week so that's 1.4kg lost in total.

500Decibels · 05/06/2015 07:00

Well done Viva! You're getting there Smile
I had a bit of a rubbish day yesterday. Combination of running around and not getting organised.
I had banana and yoghurt for breakfast, soup and some popcorn for lunch. Then more soup for dinner but kind of lost the plot and had a whole load of crackers with it. I mean loads!
No exercise either.

I think I can be a bit better organised today. I really should have got up a bit earlier and did an exercise DVD. I'll try to fit one in at some point today.

Tumbletumble I find that I lose weight if I don't eat breakfast. It kickstarts my appetite. The longer I leave breakfast, the less hungry I feel for the rest if the day.

I think with skipping meals and exercise, it's the over-compensation that will add more calories to you day. So if you don't compensate for it, then it's got to be a good thing.
Personally I couldn't give up breakfast, but might consider skipping lunch if I'm struggling with shifting the weight. Really not sure I could hack it though!

500Decibels · 05/06/2015 09:27

I usually just delay breakfast til about 11 if I can. Then lunch at 1.30/2 then dinner at 6 works best for me. I'm less likely to snack then.
I don't want to eat breakfast til later today as I ate too much yesterday but I'm really struggling at the moment.

I'll finish my coffee then get on with some chores.

I'm sure we all know this, but I thought I'd post this article about the role of exercise in weight loss (there are many similar, but this has lots of info and viewpoints).

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/sep/19/exercise-dieting-public-health

I do think exercise has to help, as long as you don't allow yourself extra food because you have been working out.

500Decibels · 05/06/2015 10:10

Thanks for that link. Really interesting.
I do think that unless you're naturally active in every day life, you need to fit some activity in. It's so easy to become sedentary in today's world.
People often look at me like I'm mad if I decide to walk somewhere rather than take the car. I think I'm fairly active and it's definitely a food issue for me.

I did a half marathon last year and one the year before, and I didn't lose much (if any) weight while training. I'm sure the article is right about eating more to compensate.

500Decibels I agree with you - I'm fairly active but I just eat too much!

However I've lost 3lb since joining this thread Smile

MugsLife · 05/06/2015 15:55

I did the same when I was training for the great south run many years ago. Doing 3 mile runs 3 times a week and still not losing any weight! I wasn't dieting or aiming to lose weight at the time, just doing it for the challenge really, but I think I hoped as a bonus I might lose a few pounds!

Lol tumble this thread is proven to aid in weight loss!! Grin

I've fallen off the wagon a bit. Don't know why, my motivation & mood are both a bit low. Could be PMT. Anyone got any good tips for how to get past this? My PMT seems to last the better part of a week now Shock

500Decibels · 05/06/2015 19:42

Flapinko you'll have ups and downs. If your having a down, just keep in mind that you will get back to it.
The worst thing to do is give up altogether.
I think allow yourself a little treat and keep drinking water and tea. Going for a walk and keeping busy usually helps me.
Oh and listening to motivational videos on YouTube. Not just weight loss ones but ones that tell you to how you're in charge of your life and you can meet your goals.

Had a spinach and raspberry blast for breakfast

Went out for lunch with friends. Chicken salad followed by a summer berry and chocolate mousse for pudding! Really hard to say no when every one else is having pudding.

Done an 8 mile bike ride and 3 mile walk.

Then a cheese omelette and fruit salad this evening.

Oohh can I join in?

We're off on holiday in August and I'm determined to shift this extra weight leftover from Christmas!

I seem to fall in the same category as many of you, I.e. Eating through boredom not hunger.

I'm far too embarassed to,tell you what I've scoffed today........

But tomorrow Monday is another day Smile

The idea of not snacking of an evening scares me. A lot. But it needs to be addressed.

I've got 8 weeks.............

VivaLeBeaver · 05/06/2015 20:19

Welcome, I'm sure 8 weeks could make a big difference.

BaconAndAvocado · 05/06/2015 20:23

Thanks Viva I hope so!

Just had a gander at what you've been eating. How,do you maintain such good willpower.

In the past, when I've tried to lose weight I've found that once the pounds start coming off I get really motivated. But since entering into my mid-40s the weight seems to be a lot more difficult to shed Hmm

BaconAndAvocado · 05/06/2015 20:25

I like the idea of S days!

And, yes, all the thin people I know follow the very simple rule of "mot eating between meals"

It's that easy............

VivaLeBeaver · 05/06/2015 20:26

I don't think Ive got good will power!

I should have said no to pudding today and yesterday I ended up at a friends house in the evening and was nibbling on crisps!

I've had a fruit scone or two over the last week that I should have said no to and I had chocolate yesterday and a Twix on Monday!

I think I'm quite bad!

VivaLeBeaver · 05/06/2015 20:29

I'm a bit depressed over a thread I was reading in active convos earlier.

The pregnant lady who is a size 10 and a Dr told her she was overweight. She's quite short and the thread is full of people telling her that a size 10 for her height is overweight and that due to vanity sizing a size 10 these days is massive and she should be a size 6!

My skinny 5ft tall 14yo isn't a size 6 and she's tiny.

I've had to hide the thread because if they all think a size 10 is massive it makes me feel awful to be a size 18. I do know I'm fat, but blimey Id be happy being a size 14!

BaconAndAvocado · 05/06/2015 20:50

Blimey viva that is depressing! Are you sure she was pregnant at the time?
